Dollstown Mini discussion part 6

Jul 1, 2016

    1. She looks adorable @Xiaoli Happy Halloween.

    2. Hi guys!! I was recently gifted an 11 year old Momo from a friend who I am planning to pamper over Christmas! (She needs a little clean, a restring and some sueding!) I would love to see some other Momos and I will definitely share my girl Sofie once she's all cleaned and has a faceup :)

    3. And this is Zoe - one of my first dollstown girls. She has an original dollstown face.

she is always full of attitude.

    4. Fawn has a new faceup again - I think it came out better this time, especially her lips. The beauty mark is because something got stuck on the very last coat of sealant (auuuugh!) and I didn't want to start over again, so - beauty mark.

    5. Well poop! I'm glad I noticed there had been some posts on this thread as I didn't get any notifications about it.

How frustrating, but at least it's the sort of mark that looks OK if left.

    6. @Xiaoli and @LadyMadrigal your girls look lovely. Thanks for sharing these adorable little ones.

    7. My Momiji is home and I thought it was about time I shared him here. He is an Arin before they stopped making them. He was faced up by @redmaiko

Now I have 2 boys and soon as my little girl's body arrives I can get her done and share here as well.

    9. I have dipped my toe in the DT waters this past year and now own a DT17 girl and a DT Elf Maru. I've been considering getting a 7 and/or 5 yr old. My question is, do they wear most regularly sized (not slim) MSD sized clothing? I have quite a few regular MSD sized things for my Dollshe Rosa. If I knew I already had things that would fit them that might help push me over the edge...………..

      • x 1
    10. Dollstown is bigger than the Dollshe MSD kids. You would need to get stuff from places like Blue Blood Doll for jeans and TTYA for shirts and sweatshirts. You have to pick there carefully as some items are more for Minifee size dolls. If you private message me I can send you links to what fits. Also Dollmore for socks, underwear and shoes.

    11. According to the measurements on Dollstown site, DT is slimmer through the waist/bust/hip than my Dollshe Rosa, even though she is shorter. I'm hoping that means that some of my dresses for MSD size might work better actually on the DT kids. My Dollshe Rosa has a pretty thick waist at 17cm. My kids wear period inspired dresses more than more modern clothing.

    12. I hope it works out. The Dollstown kids are great. Good luck @JinCIncy

    13. It can depend on the make and style but, in general, yes - my 7Year girl, January wears some leggings intended for slim MSD
      [IMG]

And both she and my 5Year dirls can wear quite a lot of the clothes I have for my Volks MSD girl although, obviously, they come up shorter on the 7Year girl

    14. Things sized for the Kaye Wiggs MSDs will also fit well.

      • x 1
    15. I stopped getting notifications for this thread simply ages ago so missed an awful lot until today. Loving all the photos and great to hear all the news.
And I agree with LadyMadrigal.......clothes sized for the Kaye Wiggs MSDs will fit well.

      • x 1
    16. I also stopped getting notifications - does anyone know why that happens?

      • x 1
    17. Could be overload on the server. I guess best to just bookmark thread and check manually.

    18. I suspect that if you get a notification and don't click the link to read it on the forum itself it doesn't send you any more notifications.... but it's just a theory

      Teddy

      • x 1
    19. Never noticed that option.

    20. I don't know if it's actually an option, but I have noticed that if I click the link in a notification so it takes me to the thread, several more entries (that I haven't received notifications for) have often been posted since the one the notification was about... So it makes sense (to me) that if you don't follow the link to the thread, you don't get any more notifications until you do follow it (or until you navigate to the thread by other means and post another message to it, reactivating the notifications)

And to bring this message back on-topic, a picture of my January (Alina 7Year) that I forgot to share when I took her into work with me just before we closed for Christmas and New Year...

Dressed completely inappropriately for the season too.

    21. Lovely to see January again......and dressed in her own inimitable style!

      • x 1
    22. She looks beautiful @Teddy and after seeing only white and brown it's wonderful to see such lovely colors.

    23. Than you both. She does love her colours (as do I)

She has since changed into something warmer, however (for the Christmas meet of the Pygmalion group in London):

    24. Very pretty @Teddy I hope you both have a great time.

    25. Thanks.

The Christmas meet was very nice - Christmas music playing, lots of chatting, photographing dolls, trying on of dolls clothes, and posing shenanigans.

    26. Isn't that the perfect way to do a meet up. We have two meet ups in Wisconsin and two in Illinois. Sometimes they clash, dates wise but usually we do okay. Wisconsin will have the first one for 2019 in late April, hoping Illinois one will be a couple of weeks before or after.

    27. Doll meets are such FUN....lucky January getting to go to the London one. And I like her winter outfit

    28. Seems like this year is slow to start on the DT mini thread.

Is everyone recovering from the Christmas season still?

Winnie and her dog came into work with me last week:

    29. My boy has been just trying to keep warm. I made blankets for everyone to either share or have alone. We been below zero for awhile and will finally see double digits above zero by Friday. Doll room has never been so cold.

    30. You have a great empty shelf at work Teddy, it is just perfect for dolls.
Great to see both girls....I do like how both are dressed.

      • x 1
    31. That doesn't sounds fun at all! I hope you can get it warmed up soon.

      Thanks, Jane.

She shelf wasn't intended to stay empty (other than a space reserved for whihcevr doll or bear I bring in with me each day) but so far I haven't tracked down where I stashed the bags of plushies that were cleared fom around my desk two office-moves back, so the shelf remains empty, waiting for them to turn up.

I think I need to bring Arin in next, so I can roud off the DollsTown mini's visits to work.

      Teddy

    32. Oh yes! You can't leave Arin out.

And poor you Marie.......I hate being cold!

      • x 1
    33. I did take Arin in to work, but it took a while to get around to moving the picture from my camera to my Flickr account...

Poor thing is minus his lovely victorian style boots as the faux-leather surface of every pair I bought in that style is flaking and peeling away. I'm rather cross about that, having spent a small fortune buying the boots in several colours and two sizes, and them not actually being subject to any wear (seeing as they're on dolls, not on real people who actually walk in them!).

      Teddy

      • x 2
    34. That's awful. I am avoiding leather clothes, but boots is hard to avoid. Maybe have to start using leather soap.

    35. If they were real leather this problem wouldnt have arisen - the faux-leather they're made of, however, is peeling like crazy.

      Teddy

    36. I am having the same issue with a lot of the doll shoes that I have too......I am so cross {{grr}}

      • x 1
    37. Isn't it infuriating!

      Teddy

      • x 1
    38. To put it mildly Teddy! I have spent a small fortune on what I thought were good quality doll shoes.......only to find them disintegrating horribly now.
I have tried painting PVA glue on them to try and hold them together.....but no luck!

What with the yellowing of the resin and the disintegration of shoes, this is not showing itself to be a very 'stable' hobby! LOL!
But I still love the dolls, so that is all that matters really.

      • x 1
    39. Exactly how Ive been thinking of the situation!

And so poor Arin is currently bootless

    40. My Deogi on the 5 has arrived with DT and I just need to make the last payment so she can be posted - I had a quick query so I am waiting to hear a response to that before sending the payment.

But I have a request - I can't decide on a wig or eyes for her... please can you post piccies of Deogi so I can get ideas..? I am thinking curls (I saw a lovely one on the marketplace but the seller won't ship here...) but also have seen pics where she has straight hair, no fringe/bangs and that looks lovely too...

My Deogi #1 had different wigs from a long, straight pink and blue one, to a Yuki style in white. This was my favorite for her.

    42. It looks like it has sun-lightened streaks, as if she's been playing out in the sun a lot

    43. Thank you. Still deciding on new version and what wig on her.

    44. The only Deogi I had on the DT5 body had a fluffy mohair wig.......

    45. @Jane, @animemom, thanks so much for the pics - but it's so not helping as she looks adorable with both straight and curly hair!! :D

My girl will have the DT faceup so I think I may have to get one of each way and then try them on her when she gets here...she is a 7/8 in wig size, right?

I'm planning on modern style clothing, and I have a hankering for cute little hoodies with anime pictures on them...there was a lovely little Volks set with a squirrel on the front, but the last time I saw it for sale on Mandarake it was over $100, so she wont' be getting that!

I've been wanting Deogi for so long, it feels strange to think she'll be on her way home soon!

    46. Have fun styling your long awaited Deogi Alice.
My Penelope arrived on the DT5 body and I used to dress her in cute little modern outfits with hoodies. I think you will find lots to fit this size body

I can't wait to see your girl

    47. @animemom, thanks for the reminder - I have used her for Sasha clothes (and knew her when she was in London back when I collected Sashas...) Yes, her things are adorable...

    48. So my Deogi arrived yesterday - a couple of weeks delay because DT were busy and then 2 weeks in customs...but she's finally here!

I snapped a quick pic - the wig is slightly too large and I think she will need eyelashes but her look is essentially there.

      Meet Jilly

    49. Glad you've got her look together already, Alice. The boots in particular are adorable on her.

    50. Congrats @Alice80 Jelly is adorable. Glad she made it home safely. Love the outfit.

    51. Hello Jilly *waves*
But what an unnecessarily traumatic start to her life in the UK....................TWO weeks in customs!!! You must have been frantic!

      • x 2
    52. I'm so glad she got to you at last Alice, and she is gorgeous! Welcome Jilly!

      • x 2
    53. Your Deogi is adorable. Did she come with her faceup from DT.

      • x 1
    54. @Jane Yes, I was a bit, but to be honest, besides checking every day to see if there's been any movement, there's nothing you can do...I just tried to distract myself with other things...and the most annoying thing is that a parcel coming via Royal Mail, sent the same day, sailed through customs and I got the demand the following day, so the doll was here in just over a week...

@mikki Thank you! I've wanted a Deogi so long, I have her standing next to me as I almost can't believe she's here...

@theresa 226 Thanks! Yes, she did, but somehow it looks unfinished so I will have to either try and enhance it myself or get someone else to do it, which is annoying as the DT faceup isn't cheap. I don't think it's necessarily a drop in standards (I love the DT faceups from the past and was delighted when they started offering them again) but perhaps reflects that they are very busy right now with all the sculpts being discontinued. And it is a lovely faceup that captures the sweet Deogi face perfectly...it just needs...something...perhaps putting in eyelashes will do the trick...

    55. I realised that I never showed you my Jea who arrived last July! :aeyepop: I'm glad I jumped at the opportunity to buy a 5yr body from a friend which prompted me to order the Jea head from Dollstown. I really love this little girl, her name is Tessa. The poor soul still has no faceup so I must get something organised about that.

I also absolutely had to get an AG bicycle after seeing Teddy's January on hers. Here are Jodi (Seola 7) and Tessa having fun with it.

    56. Jodi and Tessa are just so lucky! I love that AG bike too........have fun girls!
And come on @mikki ......get that face-up for Tessa arranged asap please. Hehehehehee

And funnily enough I have just bought an AG bike for one of my DT7 girls.......it is the trail bike with the pet trailer. I love it!
When I get my photography mojo back...........I will show it. :thumbup

      • x 1
    57. It's perfect for the two of them, Michaela. Jane's right though, you need to get that faceup sorted.

Looking forward to seeing it, Jane. Which of your girls is it for?

      Teddy

      • x 1
    58. Well, it was going to be for Penelope.

But I might just have bought a different bike for Penelope....one like January's and Jodi's (and at a bargain price too)
So I think the new girl Jillian will get the trail bike now.
