Dollstown Elf Body Discussion - Part 2

I succumbed to the temptation of another elf body as I saw it second-hand (although the CoA says it's only form November last year so it's new and pristine really), because I have another RML head of the same sculpt as Peggy, who works so well on the Elf body... but Peggy isn't a twin and I already have her older sister, so I am at a bit of a loss as to how to style/faceup/eye/wig the new doll now I have it.

Impulse buying is not always a good thing.

I still think the head will work as a lad, and you'd then have a boy at that size that you could style in 20s/30s clothing... John maybe..? Mind you, that leaves you having to find the rest of the Swallows, but hey, it's a project!

 

Too small and skinny to be John. It's all very well Nancy being a tad taller than him, but she'd would tower over him.

(S)he is probably going to have to be completely unrelated to Peggy and Nancy.

Have fun building a new character around the second RML head now.

 

Thanks, Jane... it may take some time to get around to it - I still haven't given a faceup/eyes/wig to the Petite Ai who arrived before last Christmas, and I'm feeling very uninspired.

I’ve been in wig changing mode here and made a surprise change to my gal
Myst yesterday. Myst is a Maru head on the DTelf body - painted by VittaVera.

I had ordered this wig from @Erlif for one of my nYID gals.
It looked good on her - then I tried it on Myst and am liking it even more! I think the
color was called ‘chokeberry’. Anyway just wanted to share Myst’s pretty new look!

Ok so funny story... I finally went to restring my Soph (technically Soph "A" but made before there was a distinction) for the first time since I got her (early 2008?) and I found out that the feet have been strung directly on with the elastic knot located in the left shin (that took some looking). It is the single joints all around elf body.

Since I am no mad genius like the artist who sent her to me like this, I think I need to procure some s hooks for the feet. Where is the best place to find them?

 

@vermaxen I'm not familiar with the Elf Body and what sort of hooks it will require- but I recently purchased some hooks from DOLLMORE- maybe they have what you are looking for? Just do a quick search for 'hook' :3

 

We used some of the S hooks that came with the Doll Chateau kid body heads- slim and small hook on one side and bigger on the other to fit through her feet.

@smilingcrescent I think you're right that I need some that are bigger on one side. I'm going to see if any local craft or hardware stores have them

I'd like to share my little Myst (DTelf with Maru head) wearing a velvet gown
that I'd made a couple of years ago. I found it again when looking for
something else (isn't that always the way!). And took a couple of quick
photos of her. Her hair is pinned up. I need to make a belt for the gown too.
The fabric is quite yummy - and certainly does reflect the light well!

@Robyn_in_WA, your Maru looks lovely in that gown. Working in velvet, with all the gores -- wow!

I also enjoyed seeing your Maru; I'm waiting on a Maru I ordered from Dollstown at the end of November 2021. I kept going back to look at the Maru sculpt; her quiet charm worked its way into my mind Plus, I think she's been discontinued since then.

 

@beamlette Yeah, I missed out by dithering too long to get her. I'd messaged them to ask if they had any left before they got the new website and they said no. Then there were some on the new site, and instead of jumping in, I think I just thought they'd changed their minds about discontinuing, so was sad to see she'd gone the next time I logged in. So my Maru elf girl will have to go on the back-burner sadly.

 

I thoought I'd share another picture of my Peggy (RML R-01 head on the DT Elf body), this time on the shelf above my desk at work. Which means it's from re-lockdown as my desk moved jjust after returning to the office one-day a week and I no longer have a shelf, but checking the date on the picture, it's from a year beofre the first lockdown, so January 2019... Shows I've not been taking as many pictures of my dolls in the last few years... Must fix that!.

@Alice80, I'm sorry you missed out on ordering Maru. When I was looking and trying to decide in November 2021, I noticed that Maru was both discounted, and -- only one resin color available (Fresh), which I figured was a tip-off that she would be discontinued. I'd decided to get Sarang and a complete Elf body, and added the Maru head at the last minute; what's one more head, lol!

@Teddy, that's a darling dress on your Peggy; so mid-20th century little girl-ish!

@JinCincy, your Elf girls are so pretty! I especially like Soyu's expression; very knowing!

 

Thanks - I'm aiming for late 1920's/early 1930's for Peggy and her sister but there are only so many dropped-waist dresses I can tollerate when it's not a style I'm fond of. I really need to get around to making them shorts and sleevesd shirts so they can be properly piratical, but I'll get there eventually - I've made their red knit caps.

Hey guys! I'm interested in ordering a Dollstown Soyu in pale tan. I didn't see the option on the site so I emailed them. I'm waiting to hear back but has anyone ordered a pale tan recently?

 

This is Lavinia, my Soph B on the Elf Body in Freshskin. I looked up when I ordered her, new from Dollstown, and was amazed to see it was November 2010, I can't believe she's that old

My two Elf body girls are newbies by comparison, ordered from DT in 2019 and 2021. Earlier this year I finished their face-ups, and got their characters sorted out. Meet Harriet Potter (left, Sarang) and Tsuchida Botan (right, Maru).

Harriet is wearing a Softly She Walks top and skirt from 2006. Still good after all these years, lol!

 

@beamlette I wondered if it was SSW, I love their clothing and am lucky to have a number of pieces, so glad I got them when they were available. Mine are mostly white and black, I wish I could have got a skirt like yours.

 

Does Dollstown provide a certificate when you only buy a body? I don't remember getting one.

 

In recent years Dollstown has sent a CoA for either a body or a head. In
past years, they did not, However @nancy_schroeder_ca if you have your
original purchase order/receipt, they may well send you a CoA for that
purchase if you write them and ask. At least they did that for me a couple
of years ago for older purchases. It’s worth asking!

Hiii what’s the typical wait time for ordering a dollstown elf body? Specifically one in copper oriental

 

I am currently shipping most of dolls within 2-3 weeks.

Where do you guys find shoes for dollstown elf? Really can’t find anything that would fit.

 

I use high-heeled small end SD shoes mainly. Even if the Elf has flat feet. It makes the high heeled shoes look not too long and out of scale as opposed to using low-heel SD shoes.

 

@Luna_and_Stelladolls - I’ve got some great sandals by Kim Zentner hand
made for the DTelf. I’d also had success with some of the Nine9Style heels
that I’d bought back in the day (made for flat feet).
Small end SD shoes seemed to work out ok for me too.

 

Mine wears smaller SD size and/or larger MSD size shoes.

I was quite surprised to discover that dollstown elf body matches with dollmore alexia head. This was just an experiment, but the hybrid is so lovely:



Ofc the color match is nonexistent (the head is in normal pink, and the body is in oriental), and the head is a bit on a bigger side, but still, the result is great I think

 

They do look good together size wise.

Thank you! A pity I won't keep it as a whole doll (elf body is occupied by my dim annabeth, and I hope to combine the alex/alexia head with a miracledoll body), but I really hope I'll get to see this exact hybrid in someone else's hands someday

 

Reshelled Kisa again and this girl is so adorable. I am really happy I am going full speed ahead with Dollstown again. Have just about every size from 17 yrs and below. I am tempted by the new body but I rather they work on getting more boys like 7, 5 and oh how I wish an elf one.
