    3. She's lovely @Teo128 love the outfit, and those boots are awesome.

    4. Those boots are the main reason I made a pair of high heel feet for my Sofia :whee:

    5. That's great. Dollstown says one day they hope to have the option of high heeled feet for all their girls down to elves as seven year old girls don't need high heeled feet.

    6. I'm happy with my modded Supiadoll feet, I was able to get a 99% skintone match too. The old big girls feet didn't fit in most shoes... but still I like the old bigger bodies and heads better. :XD:

    8. Thank you animemom. I also have an Ariel on the DT13 body in 2011, I purchased her second hand and bought her a new DT13 body in 2011 (her head was on a Bobobie body when I bought her).

    9. She's very pretty as well @Calphedoll

I was lucky to find this guy here on DOA for sale. I had to give up owning really big dolls due to health issues, so having a Hue back in my life is fantastic. I named him Kyo.

      better photo soon.

    10. @Calphedoll I love your Ariel, such a gorgeous face. It's the first time I've seen this sculpt and she really is adorable. Such a shame DollsTown stopped production.
@animemom Your Kyo is a handsome chap, love his face-up. Glad you were able to find him again, it must have been like an old friend coming home.

      • x 2
    11. It was, I had my Hue for 8 years, then he moved on to a friend's home. I didn't think I would miss him, but I did and finally I have like his long lost twin brother.

    12. Love, love, love this!!!

Be still my heart. She is to die for!!!

I missed out on Momo and have regretted it ever since. Maybe some day I'll find her.

Kyo is on a OS body as only one I had. His yellowed head makes it work kind of. In any case at least he is together.

    14. LOVE her!! I have one doll painted by Sally. Unfortunately,I don't think she paints dolls any longer.

    16. What color of resin matches dollstown Oriental skin? I need a boy head for a 15 year old boy body that l have on layaway with Dollstown.

      • x 1
    17. Oh you're on my Facebook page I created for Dollstown fans. I can only tell you I could have my Little Rebel by June. I will share photo of head on my 15 year boy body also in oriental skin.

    18. I have had my DT Soph for a lot of years so YMMV but my Orientalskin body matches Luts normal skin from 2015 pretty well and also Volks pureskin normal from around 2016 pretty closely. I know that Doll Family A, Doll Family H, and Impldoll have offered resin matching in the past and may still. That's something to start with, at least.

Edit: Make sure whatever you pick matches the neck circumference of the body, though. I've learned that lesson the hard way before with hybrids.

      • x 2
    19. Vermaxen thank you very much and l agree with the neck sizing. His neck size is 9cm. I well look into the company that you stated.):)

I found a head and it's a dollstown Soi head. Thanks guys :thumbup:dance:3nodding:

    22. They say what head was used. Soi of course is only one still being made. Its like towards end before J head but after daisy heads.

    24. Here's a recent picture of (my mother's) Triste (1st version, not the second version of the head).

I figure you hardly ever see one... And maybe more people will post some dolly tax photos of their lovelies.

      • x 5
    25. @vermaxen, Triste v1 was the doll that I fell head over heels for and decided I was 100% going to commit to becoming a BJD owner back in the day! Your mother's Triste is so lovely and it's so good to see another! I was fortunate to buy mine secondhand just as they were being discontinued and she is still my most favorite doll (shhh, don't tell the others). Thank you for sharing!

    26. Yay, some rustling in the thread! I don't think I've shared this shot of my 15yr Elysia here, so have some Pauline.

I wish DT hadn't gone through so many dang websites. It is so frustrating that any references to the 15 girl body have been lost.

      • x 7
    27. @St. James it doesn't help they were hacked both times. The last one had them lose everything. If they didn't have Flickr they would have lost a lot of their old photos. They probably don't keep dolls they are no longer making. I picture the couple working out of their home waiting for shipments from Dollshe casting service. They sand away the casting tabs, string the dolls, pack them up and ship them out.

On another note. Dollstown will have a website again. Sometime between August 15-31.

    29. I’m so excited they are getting a new website! I left the hobby for awhile, and when I came back, the DT site was a mess. Quite intimidating. I was going to order, but wasn’t sure how.

      • x 1
    30. I love your mom's Triste @vermaxen I'm with Sandwich, Triste is one of the first girl dolls I've ever wanted since I started this hobby. @St.James your Elysia's style is so hip :whee:

Thanks for the info @animemom I'll keep a lookout for their comeback :)

      • x 2
    31. The new website is up and running. You will need to make a new account since all accounts on old website are lost.

      • x 1
    32. I'm confused as I emailed Jonghak An a couple of weeks ago asking about Maru who I stupidly didn't order when she was available, and he said he had none left. But I see on the new website that she's available to order...? I'll need to wait till I have funds but I guess the only way to test it is to make an order and see what happens.

I went to make an account but was getting a warning message about logins not being safe, so held off for now...

      • x 1
    33. The castling mold for Maru could have been worn out and a new one created maybe with slight changes. As for website they are only asking for name and address. No Credit card info and I was on their first site and had no issues. You pay through PayPal so as for phone number I gave them what hubby has me only share what is called a Google Voice mail number. You would get a emailed text for anyone who actually called. I have only got emails from DT.

    34. Thanks! I didn't realise that to begin with...

      • x 1
    35. That is fine. I have been buying from Dollstown for over ten years. They are a family company.

    36. I can't believe I'm the first person to post in this thread for over a year!

I recently returned to the hobby after an almost 10-year hiatus. The BJD hobby landscape has changed so much. Dollstown seems to be less popular/prominent these days, and I never expected the old 15-year bodies to be completely discontinued. But I guess times have changed!

I will have a lot of questions later (especially about the state of DT's body sculpts these days), but in the meantime...

Here's Justinian (Mui on the old 15B body). After 10 years being tucked away in a bag, I know he's glad to see the light of day again.

    37. I bet your boy is glad to be out and about again, @aihre
He's dressed very smartly, love his pants, by the way<3
But why do you think the 15yo boy body is discontinued? The original version had been reworked some time ago, but the 2013 version is available from Dollstown.com. I use two of those bodies for hybrids and I love them, they look so uniquely natural among all those gigantic muscle monsters today  but they still have a good weight/ heft to them.
But you're right, Dollstown is not trendy these days, with their almost old-fashioned, wistful aesthetic. The trend today is more or less dominated by the Chinese hobby scene and they prefer a different, rather stylized look with a rather strict set of visually coded features.

    38. Thanks @Mandagore, Justinian is a dapper lad indeed. My records say those pants were from Souldoll.

I'd just amended my previous post to state the old 15yo bodies were discontinued. ;) I keep forgetting that the new 15B body exists... in my mind it's so different from the old 15B that I don't think of it as a 15yo boy at all! The old 15B body hits the sweet spot for me.

The recent trends do look rather same-same beautiful, so I love how distinctive DT faces are, they're instantly recognizable. Plus I keep falling for them. I saw someone's stunning DT Yoon boy a while back and I have to go hunt that head sculpt down now.

      • x 1
    39. Oh yeah, for a while Souldoll made the best pants around! Good you still have a pair (and a very good memory as well^^).

Good luck with hunting down Yoon! Yep, they made some memorable faces, and a lot of those have sadly been discontinued as well. I'm happy I still have my 2006 Estella on the 13B body, she's going nowhere^^

edited to add: I own both an old and a 2013 version 15yo boy body, I know what you mean. But somehow I appreciate them both for their individual looks.

    40. I know that I heard somewhere that fairly recently Dollstown oriental resin changed color comparative to the old oriental resin.

Does anyone know if that's true and does anyone have any comparison pictures?

      • x 1
    41. I just received from DT a 17 Yr boy body and he is not like the old Oriental resin, he is the new.

    42. This has been a very, very long time coming.

Halcyon, my Dollstown Rhea has waited 10 years for a body (I was on hiatus away from BJDs for most of that time). She's hybrided on an Ariadoll 14-year small-bust body, which was the right height and resin match; the proportions are a bit off but nothing I can't hide under clothing.

      Look at that delightful profile!

And here's Justinian (Mui) updated with a new faceup (by me) and outfit. He looks so much more like himself and my vision of him.

Group picture of my crew. Dollstown has definitely cornered the market on me, because all 3 of them are representing! Justinian is on the old 15B body, and Syr (Crobidoll Lance girl) is on a modded 15G body. I love the height difference between them.

      Halcyon: Hey guys~
Syr: Um, do we know you?
Justinian (thinking): Too many girls in the room...

    44. Halcyon is so cute!
As @Mandagore said, Dollstown is no longer trendy those days. It's a little sad, I still enjoy what they do and I love to see Dollstown dolls owners pictures. So thank you @aihre for sharing yours!

BTW I never shared my second Elysia here.

(Thank you again @Mandagore for selling her to me! ♥)

    45. Oh, she's gorgeous, @Follow-the-Wind ! Her outfit is splendid, she looks to me like a fascinating new character out of a steam punk story. I'm so glad she has such a good dolly life with you :D

(edited to add) @aihre Your dolls are all lovely, but that family picture just cracks me up. They look so dysfunctional and yet you want to stay and watch what happens (just put away the china, maybe) :XD:

      • x 2
    46. Thanks @Follow-the-Wind . I think Rhea is like a younger sister to Elysia - similar expression, but with softer features. I appreciate Elysia's distinctiveness and like looking at what others do with her... but I really wanted Rhea. Still grateful that a kind DoA-er answered my WTB and sold me the sculpt.

I really enjoy your two Elysias, you've pushed the sculpt's potential and given each girl such distinctive character.

      --

@Mandagore Thank you! Let's just say that Syr and Justinian have gotten used to being the only dolls around for a long time... and now Halcyon has arrived and disrupted it all. My doll wardrobe is also in a state of disorder, that's why they're all wearing different styles. I'll slowly get everyone their casual clothes and kimono. And no, they won't share clothes. Nope. Not a possibility.

      Halcyon: psst... who is he?~
      Syr: ...
      Justinian: I didn't hear anything.

      --

About Dollstown becoming less trendy... I'm glad I discovered them when I did (around 2010-2011). At the time I was still trying to figure out what aesthetic I wanted in my doll collection -- when I saw Dollstown, everything clicked. They were reasonably popular then, there were enough owner photos out there to show potential in different sculpts. I wouldn't have gotten Mui and Rhea without seeing owner photos.

So Dollstown was key to shaping my current aesthetic taste, and setting the standard for any future dolls I get. Since so many sculpts were discontinued and owner photos are less common now, if I encountered DT today I doubt I'd be as interested, and my tastes would be quite different.

I've been looking for other studios with the same kind of semi-realistic aesthetic - Maskcat is the only one that gives me a similar vibe. (Definitely the styling, and maybe the sculpting too.)

    47. True. Well, the DT 17 and 18yo lines do enjoy a certain popularity and are also often used for hybriding, but they're not part of this discussion...
It seems to me that these days between the slim MSD/ Minifee look and the 75cm super muscular/ pea-sized head/ half-closed eyes asthetic there isn't much breathing space anymore - that's why I am so pleasantly surprised that there are still such a lot of older and newer artists around, sharing their vision, like Dollstown.

      • x 2
    48. I still love my Soph and my (mom's) Triste. I've been watching DT retire the smaller lines slowly, and it makes me sad because I don't want a doll greater than about 60cm, but their focus has wandered where the buying power has gone (understandably).

If they had made a male elf body I would have bought that in a heartbeat. I liked a lot of those elf heads, I just didn't need a second lady elf.

      • x 1
    49. I wrote years ago asking Dollstown to consider making an elf boy body, but instead they went bigger. I miss the 7&5 year boy bodies.

    50. Apropos of getting new doll furniture (probably the only piece I'll own), here's a proper family photo.

    51. An Jonghak just released a new girl sculpt... time to keep this thread alive.

My two have changed a bit since the end of last year. Justinian (Mui) got new eyes and a different faceup by me, Halcyon (Rhea) got new eyes and wig. They're both looking great. Still happy that I have them.

    52. I have two arriving soon but they are the bigger kids. I saw the new girl head and she looks lovely.

    53. ...are there still Dollstown owners out there?...

I guess I'm the only one posting in this thread these days. (Waiting for several new dolls to arrive. The months go by slowly. So I pass the time by playing with the 3 that I have...)

Justinian (Mui) and Halcyon (Rhea, hybrided on Ariadoll body) are looking great, as usual.

These old 15year bodies continue to amaze me with their beauty and realism in posing. With wiring and sueding they can do some incredible things.

No doll stands were used in the making of these photos - only internal support (wire/sueding), plus Blu tack to help them hold the props.

My girl Syr is Crobidoll Lance on DT 15year girl, modded with a very significant breast reduction.

Justinian is on DT's old 15year boy body, no mods.

Don't have much for him to wear, but I have decided he is dressed for work as he is a gamer on YouTube and all that matters is what he shows on screen. He already has a million + followers so he is good being comfortable.

I also heard from DT that a new Hue sculpt is in works. He is planned to be released this year. I am excited what they have in mind.

    55. I was watching that Mui on the Marketplace - very glad that you got him! I'm always happy to see Mui out there. If you can find a 1/3 sized gaming controller prop, those 15yr boy hands will hold it really well!

Is the new Hue going to be for the taller bodies? I'm curious to see him too.
