This is what my last email from dollshe said in Sept of 2022. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in delivery. The doll you ordered is waiting to be duplicated. I am well aware of the long wait. Due to the high waiting times for orders, it takes about 3 more months for delivery. Due to the lack of manpower, we have hired a new employee, so we will make sure the delivery is fast. Have a wonderful day. Sincerely yours, DollShe Craft.
A new statement by Dollshe Craft has been released on the official website. If the wait was not enough, now I am seriously concerned. This is not good and although my Marco is "waiting to be casted" I think I will be lucky enough to receive it someday. I am happy I ordered SartoriaJ Elf Jude during the elven event. Now I have two dolls that actually replace the characters Marco and Maya were supposed to be.
The statement honestly feels like a long winded blame game to me. Nothing is his fault. It feels like he’s saying ‘It’s Mori’s fault for ending the collab, it’s customers’ fault for wanting their products in a timely manner or their money back, it’s the bjd community’s fault he doesn’t want to make dolls anymore.’ If he actually shipped things in a timely manner (like before 2 years…) then maybe there wouldn’t be so many paypal claims His dolls are pretty but my last 2 year wait put me off and now hearing it’s 3+ years if you even get the doll? Yeah…I’ll stick to secondhand.
the 3 year anniversary of my order is tomorrow (for a basic doll already in production for some time when I placed my order) NONE of the excuses in that post apply to, or are any justification for, why I haven't gotten the doll I paid him for 3 YEARS AGO
From what has been written here, I really would suggest you actually start a paypal claim for that doll before the paypal time of six months are up and you are out of luck with no recourse to get it back and with a timeline of 3-5 years wait, If you get lucky at all that is, and you get your doll. Some are still waiting. He might say he will refund then wait for the time to pass until you can't do nothing about it anymore.
I can only interpret his message (and Mori's on IG) as Dollshe refused to pay Mori's license fee to Mori. So basically Mori got no money from Dollshe selling his heads. Now Dollshe blames Mori for not playing along and offering the sculpts to use for free because Dollshe was nice and said "I'll pay you in 6 months, see, here I have my newest business plan of how I do everything in 6 months". I tried warning Mori in December, providing all the proof of Dollshe's shady practices I had in one long email, and even said I'll pay 300 for a single head if you just sell it past Dollshe, but she did not listen back then. I guess sometimes Dollshe acts as a good camp of good ol' "eff around, find out".
Hiya all! I just bought a Bernard second hand and I was wondering if there was a way to tell on the COA how old he is? He’s on the Pure body and there is a a separate CoA for the body and the head. I’ll try to find a way to get the pictures on here or maybe link it to my Flickr if needed. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
@Houselurver11 Unless he also came with the yellow hand written card that has production date and names of the personnel who made the doll (Dollshe stopped issuing these cards 2018-ish), then, no. I know this because I tried to contact Dollshe with a CoA code and pictures of the CoA and doll once and even with that information he was unable to tell me the manufacture year of my doll. At this point I'm not sure the CoAs doube as anything other than a random number series lottered on a card to look fancy.
Since he said he has problems with Paypal, and I am one of the lucky ones who did get a doll from him in a normal amount of time (Saint in fresh in 2019) which was paid for with my dad's creditcard (since it was a graduation present from him), I would probably try with my creditcard if I were to ever get a doll from DollShe again. Also my card has a longer buyer protection it seems. Alas I am not in the position to buy a new doll right now, but some of them have been on my wishlist for a while.
Hi all - So, even though I have been doing my research on Dollshe and became aware of his "ambigious" business practices, I went ahead and placed orders during the last two sales. The Diana sculpt is one of my favorite. I know I will probably want to kick myself in the toushie for ordering from a company that takes too long to deliver. I will keep you folks updated. Also, I read his most recent post on the Dollshe site and found it a bit alarming. His lack of new orders is a reflection of his tarnished reputation within the community. I have read where many other collectors would love to order more from Dollshe, but due to delays they won't buy again. If Mr. Dollshe wants to stop his BJD business, to focus on other business endeavors, he should be upfront to his clientele, then process and ship ALL outstanding orders. He is very creative and talented, but a business cannot survive on creativity alone. Mr. Dollshe needs find a business partner that can handle the operational side of the business that handles cash-flow in order for ANY of his businesses to flourish. Other BJD artists are doing very well because they have their logistics under control.
I am also curious to see actual pictures of the Maya, Jesse, and Monica Belucci sculpts. The Dollshe site shows the Fashion Maxi size Monica Belucci to be Sold Out, while the Classic Maxi is still available to order. It would be smart business to release a picture of the actual MB doll, instead of the digital rendering and inspiration pictures.
LOL so true. The other day Paulianne.dolls on Insta posted pictures of a Neo head she painted and I was absolutely shocked that the sculpt was actually casted and sent to customers!!
I had a similar feeling too. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a post on Instagram of magnetara_dolls and Paulianne.dolls of the Lisa heads with face-ups. After seeing that Dollshe Lisa actually exists, I went ahead and ordered one. lol If a doll has been already casted, I don't understand why Mr. Dollshe doesn't update the product page to include it. The 3D rendering is nice and all, but there is nothing like seeing the actual doll even without a face-up. Most people want to know what they are getting before buying, not everyone likes to buy a doll sight unseen.
I re-read this post today and it hit me that he was able to charge adequate shipping for the newer dolls with boxes. Shipping has increased over time the delayed dolls, hence the "options".
So back in February, I pointed out to Dollshe that it had been 40 months on my order and that if they couldn't send the doll that they needed to give me a refund. I was told they would refund my money. Unfortunately, I was busy dealing with a family crisis at the time and I knew from here that refunds tend to take forever too, so I didn't pay too much attention after that. Checking now, still no refund. Because of course not. So I'm not even out of this yet. Seriously, to anyone new to this mess - don't give him your money!
I ordered in November of 2020. My order is a Leo Full Set. I sent an e-mail to update my contact information after a move and job change (I may have used a work e-mail to order). The first e-mail was sent to [email protected]. I have not had a reply since I sent this e-mail on June 18, 2023. Did I use the wrong e-mail?
I can tell you that's the one I've been using, and gotten all my replies through. If there is another one, I don't know it. But I've also always replied to the original order-receipt email thread, so he could see his own information there. (In other words, our entire conversation over the past years is in each email.)
I was never sent anything else beyond the PayPal one, so I am able to provide the order number from that. I'm not sure if it's about time to expect a delivery or not. I knew going in that a pre-order will take some YEARS. All I wanted to do is update my contact information. I'd think that is not much to ask as I'm so incredibly patient and understanding that the English-speaking market is always an after thought with Dollshe. Any other suggestions? All I know to do at this point is to send e-mails very regularly. I'd hate to, but that's my only other thought.
@mollym - Not really, I'm afraid. I hate the idea of "harassing" anyone with repeated emails too. I assume you already tried directly asking him to confirm the address change? I've just always tried to stay polite and clear, and I think I've always gotten a reply within a few days. Good luck!
I was just checking the Dollshe waitlist and it looks like nothing has been shipped by Dollshe since February 4, 2023. I am waiting for a doll that is complete and has been "packing" since Feb 21. Has anyone received anything from this company in the last 5 months?
Nope. And I ordered my doll back in October '22. I've contacted him via email four times (the last time also cc'd to the email he uses for his PayPal account) and he isn't even responding. I'm at the point where if he states 4-5 months and then I'm on month 8 of waiting and he isn't acknowledging my inquiries I'm going to start reporting him places for e-commerce fraud. I'm sure he knows that pre-ordering months in advance and only taking PayPal customers will miss the window to try to open a dispute for a refund. So that's a way to keep everybody's money. What really irritates me is that he isn't even trying to communicate. People will usually have more tolerance if you just let them know what is going on. But I've been snubbed (and possibly robbed???) with very little way to recoup my losses since the sale was international. Angry. Angry. Angry. I've been very polite (as I have heard that is proper etiquette for Korean communication) up to this point, but niceties are over. Time to play hardball to get my money back.
I don’t know if this is a good strategy for everyone, but when I preordered Prince, I did it on layaway and when the promised dates came and went, I filed a PayPal claim on the first payment. Dollshe got two weeks to prove they met their obligation before the claim was found in my favor. Dollshe messaged me asking me to cancel my claim, but they still haven’t shipped my one doll that has been ready since February and I told them that was the reason I would not cancel the PayPal claim. I did the same with my second installment. Before the deadline passed to dispute the transaction, I filed the claim and got those dollars back. Again, I heard from Dollshe. They still haven’t shipped the doll that is “ready”. In about two weeks I will file the claim on the final installment. I could potentially pay for the doll again if there was a good reason too.
When I talked to Divas back in April this year about my dealer Dollshe order from 3 years ago, they said that they were still getting orders but very, very slowly -- I don't know if that has changed because asking about my Dollshe order is always depressing now. I figure I'll check in if I'm still waiting next year, ughghh. Last year I was able to get my direct from Dollshe girl order (2 dolls) by doing the paypal claim (and he shipped the dolls once it was obvious I wasn't going to give him more time), but I don't think he's in position to produce the dolls fast enough to manage all claims anymore. He's actively trying to get new orders to pay through E9 per a new announcement on Dollshe's website because of the number of paypal claims, so I am not feeling like things are doing well despite him saying other business ventures are paying for the doll workshop needs at the moment. I've kind of come to terms with the idea that it is possible it may be many years before I see my doll or even possibly that Dollshe may cease operations and I'm just out the money. I'm lucky, I have 6 Dollshe dolls during my time of collecting, but I really, really wanted this last one.
I sent my fifth and final email to Dollshe on July 11th saying his last chance to contact me is no later than July 14th 5:00pm KST to let me know what's going on, that my doll has shipped, or he is giving me a refund. And if there is no response, I am going to start taking other action to get my order or a full refund. No response. Who's surprised, raise your hand. So I've reported him to IC3.gov, FTC, econsumer.gov, and the Korean Consumer Agency who is also attempting to provide mediation. If he refuses the mediation, I will see what they recommend for my next steps and about how much that will set me back. It's more than just the doll, it's the principle of the matter now, too. How do you leaving people hanging like this? He needs to run his business as a side hustle he does just for friends or family who know where he lives to shake him down for their money back if this is his lax way of sending out goods - just when he has the money and when he feels like it. Totally unacceptable. Can we post that in the Review forum since I have no doll to show? (sarcasm)
@zayne Oh dang, I didn't know there was a Korean Agency we could even report it to. Do you have a link? I think we should all do that. I never got my doll either. Waited a year before he flipped out on BJDivas and they asked me if I would like to cancel my order.
There is a Feedback - Service Reviews subforum this could and should go into. If you have gotten no doll and no refund, that's definitely a service experience worth noting.
Sure, I'll spread it like mine glitter to the bjd world! Well, at least this forum thread anyway. (haha) US Federal Trade Commission Report Fraud eConsumer.com econsumer.gov: Complaint Information Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) Internet Crime Complaint Center(IC3) | Home Page Korean Consumer Agency - email them and they send you a form: [email protected] This is part of the first response to my returning the form the the KCA: "Lastly, please be understood that we are not a law enforcement agency but strictly permitted, by the applicable laws and regulations in Korea, to engage in disputes between a consumer and a registered business in Korea only. In other words, if the subject company is not legally registered in Korea or refuses our mediation, we have no option but to close your case as unresolved." So, I've started trying to figure out what to do next in case the case ends up closed unresolved. I know they have small claims court in Korea for any amount under 30 million KRW/ 23770USD. The part I am having a hard time deciphering is if the case needs to be under Korean jurisdiction or if it can be US. It's difficult enough to understand but then throw in the online aspect and I am having a hard time finding what I believe to be the correct answer. But my order is still "processing" and he is already holding his "final discount pre-sale" on this doll. So I guess I should take that as he is collecting money to pay for casting dolls for people who paid full price recently. I'm not even sure I could trust the quality of a doll he sent me if I have to take him to court. Best to just have him give me my money.
This baffled me so much. I was staring at the screen like, "How did they know?" And then I remembered, it's my signature. Anyway, thanks a lot! I think people with outstanding orders probably have more grounds for those than myself, but it's still good to know, so I can tell other people. No shortage of Dollshe complaints, I'm afraid.
Spread that glitter, girl. If it helps someone else, all the better. I was looking at the community section on Dollshe's website, which is something I hadn't ever really done to keep tabs on shipping dates and such. But his most recent post in the news section was regarding shortages of funds due to cancelations. He wrote it like the large number of canceled orders weren't of any fault of his own. (Uh, when you don't fulfill your orders, people may want their money back, FYI.) When you have to find a new method of payment for your customers because the one you are using has reduced your withdrawal amount, that's a sign of a HUGE problem. "Due to the mass cancellation of Luke and Doma orders, the PayPal complaint rate has increased. As a result, our monthly withdrawal limit from PayPal has been reduced to $5,000. This amount falls significantly short of the necessary funds required to operate our workshop. To ensure the availability of operating funds for our workshop, we kindly request that you make the payment through E9Pay. Payments made through E9Pay will help us maintain smooth doll production and resolve any shipping delay issues...... Shipping progress: Regarding the progress of shipments, we are experiencing a shortage of operating funds due to PayPal claim disputes. However, we have been generating revenue through our premium handmade objet and character businesses, in addition to the BJD business. Sales proceeds will be processed on the 15th of each month, starting from July. Once the sales proceeds are received on August 15th, even without doll sales, our financial situation will be improved. We are actively hiring additional staff for our workshop and striving to expedite the doll shipping process." How does he have money to hire staff if they don't have money to operate the workshop? If that money from his handmade object product is the money maker, he'd be wise to put the bjds on hold until his other venture builds up some revenue and his finances aren't so sketchy. At least then he isn't fooling people into thinking that just because they pay for a doll they will actually get it.
I'm not at all surprised. He has a reputation now for making people wait three years (and counting) while promising six months, now people who put in new orders are naturally going to file claims when the six month deadline isn't met. They know if they don't do it, they may never get their doll. As to him hiring new people, that's a claim I've been seeing for years. Doesn't seem like it's helping much.
Make that four years, unless my doll magically shows up in the next three days. Back in January he said my doll would ship ‘by the end of the month’. At that time I started emailing BJDivas about monthly concerning this and they’ve had nothing for me but ‘we’ll let him know’ essentially. Reading that notice... I can’t even summon up outrage. The man’s either laughably incompetent or a scamming slimeball. Personally, I’m no longer laughing.
I would really like to have my Diana, but I am so concerned he won't send me a good doll now if he ever sends me one. I should just leave it as give me my money back. I hope everyone here gets their money back and he has to deal with the ramifications of not running a legitimate business. You just don't do what he is doing. It's so wrong!
I've not personally heard of quality issues with the dolls that are being shipped out (if you have, I’d like to hear the details) but if and when I do finally get my hands on this order I plan to carefully compare it to my 2018 version of the same body and see if there have been any noticeable changes. I do hope you are able to get Diana, even if you end up having to search for her secondhand. In another world I might be after a Diana too, but needless to say when this is over I’ll be done with Dollshe for the forseeable future.
I got a Diana, Arsene, and Amanda second-hand, all newer types, and I can say they all have issues standing up, especially Arsene. He can't even sit up straight, the bum. He slumps forward. I've also seen multiple posts of Diana's thigh or calf parts cracking and breaking right around the knees, where the resin is thin. Personally I plan on bulking up hers and Amanda's legs anyway (thin legs freak me out), so that should prevent that for me. As for the posing, I've had it suggested to me, I think in this very thread, to use silicone sealant as sueding. I'm hoping that will fix the posing when I get around to it. The sculpting quality is still lovely though.
I’m on 2.5 years. They told me last year my doll will ship at the end of September 2022. But it did not happen. And they stopped replying to my email this year. I’m so frustrated and don’t know what can I do.
You can report complaints with these links: US Federal Trade Commission Report Fraud eConsumer.com econsumer.gov: Complaint Information Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) Internet Crime Complaint Center(IC3) | Home Page Korean Consumer Agency - email them and they send you a form: [email protected] Who knows, with enough complaints, someone might be able to light a fire under his boo-tay.
So bad news from my email today. Dollshe DID ignore the KCA contact attempts as I feared. Here's what they had to say: We have tried to contact Dollshe Craft over the past few weeks so as to address your concerns. But they have never responded us. At present, we have no resource to reach out to the subject business. As such, we have no option but to close your case as unresolved. Sorry for not being of any help, Regards, International Transaction Support Team, Korea Consumer Agency But I did ask them for any information they could give me about who to get in touch with for taking him to small claims court. I haven't been able to get a sure answer from my own research on how that needs to be done because he's in Korea, I'm here, and the order was online.
Who here is surprised, raise your hand? Well, no one, I think I can safely say. I hope they can give you some info on small claims court, though.
They sent me a link to a site, but it was one I already seen from my own search. But I'm not giving up yet. Sometimes Karma needs a little helpsy and I am going to do my best to have Dollshe take a dose of act right. You don't just take people's money and disappear.
Oh, good. I hope more and more people in the same boat report them. Maybe if they get a slew of reports they will make a greater effort to go after him. I tried seeing if the Korean Bar had some help to offer, but they only had one recommendation of an organization that helps people who are foreigners in Korea or Korean Citizens. I contacted them anyway, but haven't heard back.
Someone suggested that I should contact their website host to let them know they are hosting a fraud site. It took a while but I think I finally got to the right address to the host and have sent them an initial email to find out what they need as far as evidence of the fraud - emails, screenshots, etc. If I've contacted the right place I will post the email here for others to report them as well. I think working in numbers is our way to go. So if you haven't already, file your reports with the organizations from above: US Federal Trade Commission Report Fraud eConsumer.com econsumer.gov: Complaint Information Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) Internet Crime Complaint Center(IC3) | Home Page Korean Consumer Agency - email them and they send you a form: [email protected]
Looks like BJDivas is seeking legal action BJDivas on Instagram: "NOTICE REGARDING DOLLSHE: We've been apprised that Dollshe has apparently stopped responding to community inquiries. We heard about this unfortunate behavior recently and we've been looking into legal action. We have discussed the Dollshe situation over the years while he was still maintaining correspondence with us and his direct customers with legal counsel but have held off on commencing legal action as once we go down that route, the chances of seeing anymore dolls are close to zero and it'd take even longer to get any funds back. Now that he appears to have shut everyone out, it has unfortunately reached that point. Legal counsel advises us that due to it being a complex case and an international one, that it may take years to resolve. We are planning to investigate the possibility of allowing parties that didn't order Dollshe through us to jointly file with us. We will also inquire about providing the name of the law office that we'd be going through to other parties that don't wish to file jointly but still wish to pursue legal action against Dollshe. We will post notices as we're able to, however legal counsel advised not discussing details publicly as it might negatively impact our case, so it is likely that those details will be shared with involved parties only. #psa #dollshe #dollshecraft"
I feel bad for them; they already seem to be so busy as-is, and now they have to go after this clown.
If you've been waiting for a bit and ordered with PayPal make sure you file your claim now. They're more likely to send your doll. File it before it's to late! He's cut off communication. Join us here:Join the Dollshecraft Discord Server!
Just want to say that I emailed Divas for details, and they said they are only in the process of finding out what legal action they can take and don't have any specifics for those of us actually impacted. This is a very different message than the implications of the publicly posted message, so take things with a bucket of salt until actual legal details are given.
I'm very excited to hear this as I just had the thought a couple nights ago that maybe I could contact them to see if they could offer any assistance even though I am one of the people who bought from Dollshe direct and didn't go through BJDivas. I'm going to IG and getting in touch with them immediately since now I know they are willing to get involved! Thank you for posting this!!!!
After seeing the announcement from Divas, I started browsing Naver for Korean results, trying to find any discussion about Dollshe from the Korean side. A lot of hobby communities are in special forums though so it's hard to find things. But I did find a post from May of this year where someone posted a screencap from twitter of a customer's plea (in Korean) for help in contacting Dollshe after waiting 3 years, and warning others of the situation. The handful of replies were just somewhat interesting to read.
Is there anyway you can post something about it. There are a couple of people gathering information to take to Interpol as well as us on the Discord server I posted earlier?
Unfortunately that particular forum does not accept posts from overseas IP addresses, so it wouldn't let me post. Korea also has very strict privacy and anti-defamation laws, so I'm worried a lot of Korean sites are every particular about not hosting conversations regarding such serious legal issues.
Four years now... Honestly, if my money ended up paying someone else's refund, I'm fine with that. I'm more disgusted that he thought he could treat us all this way.
Oh, hey, it's September! That means I've now been waiting for my 33cm Bernard for five years! I mean, okay, I stopped expecting to ever see the doll a long time ago, but I stubbornly keep the order open because I wrote off the money a long time ago and I don't want to let him off the hook.
@Gallye that is freaking unacceptable. How does Dollshe convince himself that it's okay that someone hasn't gotten their doll or a refund for five years while he's still accepting money for new dolls and (occasionally) sending out completed dolls for newer orders? It makes me furious to hear about it.
I just realized that the three year mark came and went, I've never heard back from dollshe and it sounds like I'm probably not going to see a refund either Still, I'll send another email and make a point to say that I want a refund now.
I paid for Lisa & Maya in Jan 2022, got Lisa so far (in Jan) and Maya was supposed to be shipped 2-3 months after, and nothing. last email from them I got in April, and no response since then. It is really sad :/
@mmilena Like I said, shipping out newer orders, for new dolls no less, before very old orders for old dolls have been fulfilled. Not that I begrudge that you actually got your doll, of course. At least someone is getting what they paid for. But it makes no sense.
