Dollshe Discussion - Part Twelve

Apr 15, 2017

    1. My order from March is still pending despite Dollshe telling me last week that it would ship this week. Technically, there are still some hours left in the business day in Korea (it's 10am Friday right now in Korea) but I'm not holding my breath on the email I received in response to my query actually being true with regards to shipping this week. I will believe it when I see a tracking number... whenever the hell that happens.

    2. since the last batch is out I think I'm ready to order my next one lol
Have been wanting Amanda for a while. But I'm not sure about the 15th Anniversary event, does that mean I just order the basic doll (like randomly choose a boob size) then they will provide the additional parts for free? not sure what's the deal, like literally LOL

    3. I also got an e-mail today saying that my Rosen is "being prepared for shipping" and will be shipped "within this week", which I guess means next week. Fingers crossed :)

      • x 3
    4. This gives me hope!:eusa_pray I hope my Rosen will ship soon too I ordered mine in March too, but I used LW... I wonder if it changes shipping times a lot hm.

    5. Hey guys, I just got some good news for those who ordered Classic Khan! I got an email from Dollshe that they're done with my order of Khan from SEPTEMBER 17, 2016, and will be shipping them next week. Hopefully he doesn't get stuck on customs... Cuz Canadian customs are expensive as hell!

      • x 5
    6. Very cool! I can't wait to see Khan! Lucky you!

    7. Hi friends! I've been slowly making my way through this thread and I've finally caught up :D yay! Congrats to those of you who are close to shipping, and to the rest of us, may our waits be short!! I've loved seeing all your dolls, both blank and made up. Dollshes are all so beautiful <3

I've ordered a Grown Bermann head in pure Oriental, and am planning to get an akagi 66 body. I could only find a couple photos, so I was wondering if anyone here has also tried this hybrid or has seen the match in person?? The pictures were pretty blurry so it's hard to see how good the match actually is.

If not, do you guys know of any other good not super muscular hybrids?? I'm not likely to be able to afford a dollshe body anytime soon, so I was wondering if y'all coukd think of any alternatives that the hybrid thread neglected to mention:eusa_pray If not, that's cool, I'm sure I'll have quite a while to figure it out before my head arrives

    8. Congrats! What resin color did you order him in?

    9. @lukoshka They are both utterly fabulous! :D I always look forward to seeing your photos so much.

    10. @lukoshka - I do adore the way you've styled your guys. They're just amazing. :)

    11. @beautifully.tragic I always research A LOT before buying things (not only doll-related) and I came across a lot of pictures and discussions before I got my Akagi66 body. (It's a really nice body btw, I love handling mine)

I know I saw a Dollshe Saint hybrid with the Akagi body and I thought it looked really good! Of course it's a little shorter than with a Dollshe body but only by a few centimetres.

Also remember seeing that Dollshe oriental is a really nice match with Akagi ns (which a quick googling confirmed).

So if you like the body then go for it! :thumbup

    12. Before the sale ends again, I asked to have an Arsene head added to my most recent order. When I first saw Arsene I wasn't very overwhelmed, but seeing what few owners pics are out there and his potential... I just had to get one :) I hope they add it and don't say "sorry too late."

    13. So does anyone know what does that 15 anniversary event mean?
Especially about the full package part. By that I mean how do I order a full package? When I try to add Amanda to cart, they still ask me to choose the additional parts, do I just ignore that and proceed to check out?
I have about 10+ hours to make the purchase.
Though I'm fine with just a doll without the additional parts. But it'd be nice to have more to choose from lol

    14. @Motiko ah, bless. Thank you so much!! I always try to research but I never know where to look other than here :sweat and with the photobucket changes, it's been a bit of a challenge!!

    15. What ended up happening with the various packages Dollshe planned to offer with the Anniversary Event is that none of them ended up coming to fruition, thus far anyway. I'd asked them on numerous occasions during this period about the other packages, but the most specific answer I'd managed to get from them is that the packages were meant to be a surprise, were not available yet, and they couldn't tell me when they would be available. So, thus far, only the 30% event, which ends in the next 10 hours, has occurred, and no one but Dollshe knows if the other events will happen.

    16. Thanks a lot! @BJDivas :-)
I've asked them about a week ago in email but also no answers lol maybe I'll just wait a little bit more and see.

    17. Hey all!

I've got an incoming order for an Aramis on the pure body, and I've got some concern about finding clothes for him. What fits? Where's the best place to get clothes for such a lanky body?

I'm new to this thread so sorry if i missed something previously >_<

      Thanks!

    18. OMG guys! I just got a shipping notice for the body I ordered in March of this year. Whoot! Of course I'll be following the tracking obsessively. How much does anyone want to bet that because of the upcoming long weekend, I won't see said body until next week? Cross your fingers for me that Customs waves a bored hand at the package and waves him on through without any fees.

      • x 7
    19. Woo! That's great @Iron_Dog! I'll be crossing my fingers for you. :)

    20. It's a little later than they said they'd ship, but its finally shipping. I think I have some stuff that'll fit so he's not hanging out nekked. And this also means my wallet is soon to be taking another hit as now I don't have the excuse of Wu-Tyr's head just being a head in a box. He's gonna need a face-up.

    21. Well better late than never. I can't wait to see him all together. :)

      • x 1
    22. @flannelpaws If you have the old pure thin body, i found lots of 70cm clothes at Alice Collections that fit my guys. Very reasonable prices. Freedom Teller has 70cm size too more expensive but very well made clothing.

    23. Annnnd I just noticed that they have shipped the body to my home address and not my work address as I'd specified on the site *head desk*. It will still get to me, but I'll end up with a card to go retrieve it (because nobody is home during the day) which is a bit of a pain since that means I need to go home to get the card and then back out to the post office when the post office is literally 2 buildings next door to my work (and why I use my work address for packages).

    24. Ooh gorgeous! Do you like the new body? Does it pose well?

    25. :doh Well...at least they tried.

    26. The body is on its way so I'm happy enough with that. Its apparently on a plane right now, so yea! I'm really hoping that Customs just waves it on by and doesn't even blink at it. I somehow doubt that though as it is going to be a fair sized box and they seem to have more interest in the big items than say something that has just a head in it.

What's the MO for Dollshe? Do they mark the package down or anything? My last item was Wu-Tyr's head and that was several year ago and I honestly can't remember what the outcome of that was as far as Customs goes.

    27. I have a big box from Dollshe right here and just checked. They marked the value as $30 and marked it as a gift. I did not pay customs fees on it.

Here's hoping yours flies under the customs radar too!

    28. @UrbanHermit Thank you very much for checking! Canada Customs is frequently brutal to me and I swear to god, I'm on a list with them *grumbles*. But if Dollshe marked the box for you as $30, chances are very good that it'll squeak under the eye of Customs. One can dream, right

    29. @tinyseams
Hey that dress shirt looks great! Will you be adding tiny cufflinks too?

    30. He's wonderful @lukoshka I love the pic of him in his undies! :D

    31. Thank you! I have not done anything yet for the closure. I hate sewing snaps lol But cuff links sound like a very good idea! Maybe I could use elastic thread so it would stretch a bit between the cuff links.

Right now I am developing a pattern for 18th century breeches with a "french fly" to fit him. I am going to sew it up as a trial today.
Here is a pic of Dollshe David wearing a pair of "drop front" breeches that I struggled with patterning recently
[IMG]Dollshe David by Linda, on Flickr

He looks good standing in the close fitting breeches but I want a pair of pants that will allow him to sit more easily. It's been fun doing research about the history of men's clothes!

    32. Wow, that is fabulous! And you have found the perfect fabric for the embroidered front of the waistcoat, or did you embroider that yourself?

Also love the Bowie vibe your David has. Is that intentional? Suits him, whichever way.

    33. @tinyseams Wow, that whole outfit is incredible. Your fabric choices are spot on. Love the detailing, and the way the poofy dress shirt looks so light and airy. And your pants look great!

    34. I finally sent an inquiry on the 9 dolls I have on order from DS...They said two orders would be shipped in a month and the other two would be shipped in September. I don't like to rush them, but the first two orders were placed in Oct 2016. There is (unfortunately) a real good chance I'm joining the year club. :(

    35. Wow. I can't even imagine having 9 dolls on order at once never mind all from Dollshe. I hope they stick with what they've told you regards shipping times.

    36. Hey guys sorry to interrupt like this, but there's some information I can't seem to find anywhere... I have googled it and even the page here on doa seems to be down. I just wanted to know what the best eye size for the Rosen sculpt would be. So if anyone has a Rosen, could you please tell me which size works the best in your opinion?

    37. @tinyseams - My goodness that outfit is gorgeous! :D The material is so beautiful!

    38. @VinylFaerie Wow, 9 dolls at once! That's amazing! Must be stressful! Fingers crossed for you that they ship sooner than later.

    39. My hopes are not high...but not stressing it. This IS the most dolls I've ever been waiting on at once though. Would be kinda awesome if they all came in one giant box. :P I know they won't, but it's a fun dream.

    40. @I.R.Kitsune I have an incoming Rosen and from what I've seen it's either 14mm or 12mm depending on what look you're going for.

    41. Ok, because I tried some 12mm ones and they were tiny. Big gaps on both sides. Well I guess I'll try 14mm next then :abambi: Thank you for answering :)
Oh and also, does anybody have trouble with the face plate system? Like, the magnets falling out or the face plate falling off all the time? Because I sure do... :sweat I've been thinking about writing an email to Dollshe and telling him about that. Maybe he can change some things if many people have those problems.

    42. @I.R.Kitsune The face plates falling off have been a problem since Dollshe switched to a face plate system. Nothings been done about it yet. People just find work arounds. I stick blue tack inside my heads to keep them together better.

    43. @I.R.Kitsune I use a little strip of masking tape just above their ears to keep the face plates in place. I like the idea of switching faceplates but realistically swapping heads is better than ruining a faceup because it popped off and hit the floor.

    44. My Saint has thrown his face on the floor several times (how his face up is still mostly intact is beyond me). A piece of eye putty under a tight wig helps for the most part. But it looks as if they're going back to the head cap system.

    45. While you're on the topic of eye sizes, does anyone have a good tip for eyes for David Kuncci? I don't like the large iris look but don't want him looking spooked either ;P

    46. I've got a pair of 12 mm DollShe eyes in my David, and the irises don't look too bad, though they could be a tad smaller. He does have more narrow eyes though so I like to think they look fine as they are.

    47. So then I should look for 12 mm eyes with smaller irises? Oh btw, I was talking about SD David Kuncci.

    48. Sometimes a photo helps. I use 12mm Dollshe eyes in my David as well, and I find them perfect except for the tiniest amount of gapping if I try to give him a side glance.

      [IMG]Lucien by DramaDoll1, on Flickr

Dollshe eyes already have a smaller iris than many other 12mm eyes. Or you could try Safrin Eyes and order 12mm with a smaller iris.

    49. Yes, I really like the mystic body. :loveIt is magnificent and plastic. But this body is very heavy. And the head does not bend forward well. I like everything else very much. And I'm glad that I changed the base of my favorite doll. :3nodding:

Mikki, specifically for you instead of words. ;)

    50. Thanks for the input guys! @SteamWitch I completely agree. It totally defeats the purpose of being practical. I prefer headcap systems as well. My Rosen keeps making it hard for me to enjoy him, even though he was my grail. I actually kinda regret buying the 32s body.... Too many joints for me. But he's still got that calming aura around him, which made me want him in the first place. Maybe one day somebody will trade me a pure body for my 32s. I'll figure something out eventually.

    51. Safrin Doll had a bit of a problem with her molds for the 12mm eyes, she was going to keep people posted about what was going to happen with that.

    52. Ooh that's good to hear. Pity about the limited neck movement.

    53. You could also try Tata's Paradise. They sell stuff in a variety of SD guy sizes, and their prices are fairly reasonable. You could also check on etsy and Stacy's Pink Ocean. Good luck clothing your boy :kitty2

@Iron_Dog congrats on your body finally shipping. Hope customs isn't brutal with you. :kitty1

On eyes: there are custom eye makers that will do custom irises if you ask. Candy Kitten Emporium on Etsy I know will (beautiful eyes :D), and lemon jelly eyeshop on IG will also. I know that some others do them as well, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. A search on etsy might produce some results, and I've heard there are custom eye makers on Facebook as well.

Also, although I don't have a David tor Roseno compare with, I have Aramis and King Corey. KC fits a 12mm, but looks better with an iris sized down, while Aramis fits a 14mm decently, although would look better with a sized down iris as well.

I figured I'd throw this out for reference:)

    54. The earliest I'll see the body is Tuesday as Monday is a civic holiday here in Ontario. He was in Customs for a few hours according to tracking so here's hoping that they just waved it on through *fingers crossed*.

Dreaming Tree Studio does custom resin eyes and she's very reasonable on price. She has a web site as well as an Etsy shop. The eyes on the Etsy shop are in stock and ship right away.

    55. I finally have Wu-Tyr's body! *spins in mad circles*. The head (Orijean) I bought during a stock clearance sale back in early 2015 so the actual date of manufacture is earlier than that although I have no idea of when. There is a slight difference in resin colour (oriental) with the head being juuuust a touch darker but it's only really noticeable in bright sunlight and with a face-up likely not visible at all.

I'm really pleased with the look of the Pure body and he looks great next to his partner, Yalaren (SD Double Ize). I've got him wearing a DZ outfit I got with Fei-Lau ages ago (that he never wears because it's not really his style) and Wu-Tyr looks smashing in it. There was much squeeing once I had him wigged and dressed despite him not having a face-up yet. I'd put up a pic but the light in my place is crap and totally washed him out. I'm not sure but he might be coming along to work with me tomorrow.

    56. With my 30% off and my points from buying Arsene I bought a couple of Saint heads when they were 50% off. (I know I said no more but... ya'll know...) Feels like they were almost free but anyway they arrived today. No plans for one but the other will become my Decim head so Kilian can get on with his life. Since they discontinued the signature cards I am going to assume that the numbers go in order of the head/color on order form but I did ask on the Q&A.

      Congrats @Iron_Dog

    57. Thanks. I'm really pleased with the Pure body. Customs Canada nailed me AGAIN although it was only a little less than $25 this time. Still. I think that proves my theory that I'm on a list with Customs.

    58. So glad to hear the body finally arrived, but so sad to hear customs hit you. I guess I've been lucky with only getting hit with customs a couple of times when it goes through Canada Post. Dollshe didn't start shipping with DHL or something did they?
