Dollshe Discussion - Part Sixteen

Mar 1, 2020

    1. New sculptor, with some amazing sculpts but more promises, continued sales, blah blah blah until we see progress it looks the same

      • x 5
    2. The problem with Dollshe is that they lie, not just once, but a lot over the years (about discontinuation, final sales, production time, new products, etc) and people are getting tired of it.

    3. Oh new sculpts? Interesting. I wonder if they'll manage to tempt me to dust off my account.

    4. i nearly caved and ordered a Saint. reminded myself about pending orders dec2019 for my 28M's, and June2020 for my 18M... trying to stay strong .... :eusa_pray

    5. As lovely as they new sculpts are, they're just not "DollShe". Maybe its the 3D model that's putting me off. :sweat

    6. Well since he didn't sculpt them, they'll definitely not be very DollShe in the end, I suppose.

    7. How old is Mr. DollShe? I don't remember him ever offering so many dolls he didn't personally sculpt before, so perhaps he's looking to pass the torch to a younger sculptor and give them a leg up. Having her work associated with DollShe has certainly gotten a lot of people around the world to take notice of her so far

    9. It is possible that the new heads are a collaboration between Dollshe and the new sculptor. I get the impression that she is extremely skillful with 3D modeling software.
Dollshe may be having her assist him with developing the new heads with the 3D software which he may not be as well versed with.

he’s never promoted other sculptors heads on his doll bodies before.
Would be interesting To find out.

    10. I'd love to see the 3D pictures translated into resin heads. I feel they would have another dimension in that form.

      • x 3
    11. Me too! I really like Lisa. I guess we'll see in about three years.

      • x 2
    12. I shall reserve judgment on the new sculpts until I can see them in resin. 3D always looks a little weird to me.

    13. Hi everybody. Just checking in here as, like everyone else it seems, I haven't heard a single whisper from Dollshe and it's been over a year now. Do Dollshe contact you with delivery details or anything?

    14. Out of curiosity: since the new bodies are no longer shipping with the silicone nubs, has anyone found a replacement for them? Also, how many of the bodies are supposed to come with the nubs, anyway?

I know you could probably just suede them like normal but if I pay for the nubbins, I want there to be nubbins :(

      • x 1
    15. I am not totally sure which ones come with them aside from the 26F body. I personally hated the things and wound up just sueding the dolls instead. It worked MUCH better.

    16. I have waited now two years and five months for a MSD Dollshe Hound, and come June two years for a Dollshe Erica Snow in full size. They are the last ones I ordered and will be the last. I have never had a company take so long. They can never tempt me to order from them ever again. I will stick with second hand market.

      • x 4
    17. Yeah, that's about where I am. Hopefully BJDivas can cancel my orders and I can just do second hand from here on because UGH. Still waiting to hear back about that. Apparently it takes a while.

      • x 2
    18. I ordered through BJDivas as well, but while I was sending my $50 a month they paid Dollshe in full with their own money, so I basically paid them back. I can't ask for refund as Dollshe won't refund back to them, so its again out of their pockets. If I had bought from Dollshe directly would have asked for refund a year ago.

      • x 1
    19. I did layaway for all the ones I've gotten refunds for. The refunds still came from Dollshe not from BJDivas.

      • x 1
    20. Yeah, the refunds come from dollshe himself, if dollshe refuses the refund, divas won’t give one out of their own pockets unless the issue was caused from divas, themselves
When I asked for a refund, dollshe pitched a fit that he was shipping the doll tomorrow so divas couldn’t refund me and it arrived a couple months later
So no need to worry about taking the money out of divas’ pocket

      • x 5
    21. I totally agree! All the 'graphics' instead of real sculpts looks a bit creepy to me.:|

    22. That's a fair point, and also it's a lil worrisome that there are ideas for new dolls while still being neck deep in existing orders. I pray that the ship can get righted soon for people in waiting rooms.

      • x 3
    23. Oh yes very much that!
As pretty as any new sculpts are, I'll certainly not be ordering anymore from Dollshe any time soon.

      • x 2
    24. That could be reason Dollshe has cut ties with distributors like BJDivas. I will still wait for the dolls I am owed. I have plans for them both all set so not worried. I do hope though not much longer.

      • x 2
    25. I can understand why dealers don't want to work with Dollshe any more. They get customers demanding answers and getting irate even though they're not the ones responsible for the insane waiting or the lack of truthfulness in just when customers will get what they paid for. When Dollshe is giving a dealer the runaround on when stuff is going out, that's just not good in my opinion.

I'd put it out there that he's broken a lot of trust with people who love his dolls because of the constant broken promises of just when stuff will be sent out. Quite a few people in this thread, myself included, have stated that they'll never buy direct from Dollshe again because the wait is simply not worth it despite loving the dolls.

      • x 9
    26. I had the impression it was the other way around, or at least that BJDivas was the one to cut off Dollshe...

      • x 4
    27. You could be right. I just know I also saw a statement on Dollshe that they were ending all distributors, so only they will be selling the dolls.

      • x 1
    28. Yes! There are dolls that have been a "concept" doll for it seems years now. Just to post more graphics for dolls and not REAL photos of actual sculpts is imo a bit ridiculous...and disingenuous.

I wouldn't buy a car just by looking at an illustration of one...nor would I buy a doll just from an illustration. Too much can change in the sculpt when translating to real 3-dimensional work.

And yea, it doesn't even address the backlog he must have already to fulfill.

      • x 5
    29. Divas cut ties first, then dollshe said he’s cutting ties with dealers all together
Initially, divas mentioned they’d take orders until a set date, then after a really nasty email from dollshe they made the decision to cut ties immediately

    30. In other news, my third hand Amanda arrived!! She's absolutely gorgeous. I've currently got her covered in plastic and glue for a wig cap so no pics probably till Friday when I get a chance to wipe and paint her. The new head size is absolutely perfect! I'll have to try other wigs and eyes on her once I get her freed from the wig making process, but currently I've got 12/5 eyes in her which look lovely. She could take a larger iris if I wanted though.

      • x 11
    31. @TatterPunk Congrats on your Amanda! I'm so glad to learn she made it home safely and am happy to know you are enjoying her. I hope you will share a photo with us when you are ready!

      • x 1
    32. @TatterPunk Amanda from the orders I'm cancelling is the only one I regret, so I definitely will have to look for one on the second-hand market later. She's such a beautiful sculpt.
      Congratulations on yours!

      • x 3
    33. The graphics are beautiful, but I'd never purchase a doll based on only the concept art - too many changes could occur between concept and final product.

Congrats, @TatterPunk on the arrival of your Amanda. I love mine. Such a lovely expressive sculpt!

      • x 4
    34. And there's the very real chance that Dollshe will get bored with a sculpt and never move it past the concept stage despite opening up the sculpt for pre-orders.

      • x 8
    35. I received my Diana EN head yesterday from the MP. She already has survived color matching and a faceup. I ordered a Supia Doll 65cm body for her immediately since she is doing a head swap on that body now and I like the combo.

    36. After ~1yr of waiting, my Dollshe Owen will finally be coming!

I ordered another Dollshe back in June 2020, so I'm guessing - given the time - July or August for that one.

      • x 2
    37. I really like leo and teo but wouldn't buy until people actually start getting their orders of them. I hope no one wih a paid order is still waitng on that 'manga line' doll, which really dosen't seem to ever be coming out.

      • x 2
    38. There was a one year club. Now we should start a, "I really like this sculpt but won't order until/because __________" club. :XD:

It's Marco for me. I really like him but I Just Can't for all of the reasons that we've talked about in this thread. :(

      • x 1
    39. I still have very strong Saint love and while he is a long time sculpt, I still won't order direct from Dollshe because of the wait time for even old standards. Truthfully, I'd still love to have one in the might-never-happen size of 55cm but I'd be absolutely willing to get one in the fashion size. *sigh* Resin addiction is a terrible thing to my wallet.

      • x 1
    40. It's a fashion Saint in pale skin for me. I wish so much to have one, he's perfect for an old character I wanted to have in doll form. But unless I find one second hand, I don't think I'll have him. Sorry, Mr. Dollshe.

    41. @Melkore Go check the MP right now (assuming you're in the US) and you could have that wish granted.

      • x 1
    42. @Iron_Dog thanks for letting me know, but I don't have access to the DoA MP (by choice... there's too much temptation and my self-control is not that great, so I just never tried to gain access). Maybe in the future!

      • x 1
    43. @Melkore I perfectly understand that. The MP is way too tempting and while I really do know better than to poke my nose in there, I can't seem to help myself and look anyway. It's torturous window shopping.

      • x 2
    44. I didn't think I'd ever be here again, but this new promotion they got going for the 28m + fashion package REALLY made me curious.
Then I saw Marco and damn. Daaamn.

There are a couple dolls I regretted not getting back then when they went for sale, and now they are costing an arm and a leg (looking at LLT and Rugged Realism here), and I have this worry Marco could be another one later.

But then, there is the typical Dollshe issue. It's a prototype, Fashion size is included, and it's...well, Dollshe.
The likelihood of getting this guy "soon" is slim. Or even getting him at all, if Dollshe does decide he doesn't wanna do the Fashion version or EN head.
On the other hand, it's not as if I'm in a rush. I have enough dolls to last me for years, he wouldn't fill an important role. Technically ordering him and then being surprised when he ships in...what, two years? Three? Should be okay :sweat

Man, this is hard. Why you gotta be like that Dollshe.

      • x 9
    45. Because it's DollShe :sweat

      • x 4
    46. If I didn't know better I'd be tempted to hit the buy button on the 55cm Saint. Like... how hard is it to resist the sale price of $280 when the "normal" price is $1,009?

But fool me once and keep me dancing on hold for 18 months without a single bit of progress in actually getting the doll produced and I won't fall for that again. Has the 55cm ever seen the light of day? It's been 3 years since he first offered it for sale (I remember as it was right around the time I was made Trustee of my brother's estate in 2018 and I paid for a 55cm Saint as a gift to me for slogging through all of that).

      • x 4
    47. these are ringing so true for me right now.... after doing a fashion maxi 44cm Saint anyway.
i'm so very weak on resolve at the moment... :doh

      • x 1
    48. I’m still also so upset over the 55s just never happening, I want a few sooo bad
But I’d be even more upset if I had actually ordered one when they were dropped, I’m glad I dropped the ball there because three years is just ridiculous

      • x 1
    49. 50-ish cm boys are my current favoured size and the selection available is narrow especially with SD discontinuing their Vito line so abruptly. It would've been great if Dollshe had produced these guys *sigh*.

    50. Yes! I have a trio I’d loovvee to shell but a trio of dollshe 70s is...Daunting, especially in terms of space
55 is an amazing size, I’d love to have more

    51. Oh my word, yes. I have several 68-70's (2 are Dollshe) and they do take up a good bit of landscape. The 50's are a nice compromise on space and maturity of sculpting. Of course, I also have a good number of mature tinies, too, but those are even harder to come by, I think.

    52. I love the 51-55 range. Right now I have 6 of them from different companies. If you see one, you have to pounce! Or get lucky in the MP like I did with my Grenado guy.
Dollshe really let us down by never following through with that size. (or anything pretty much) At the moment, I'm very tempted to add another 51 to my crew.
      :nosebleed

    53. For 50-ish guys I have, Soom ID51 (x3), Granado 53 Lucifer, Raccoon Doll, SD Vito (x3), Batchix Dark Elf, Iple FID, Iple Creaa-J, DV 3-arm body w/SD head. Additionally, I have a 56cm DF-A boy, a 57cm LE Doll/AoD Collab and Impl Model (x2) which is 58cm.

One of my Soom boys replaces the character that was supposed to be the Dollshe 55cm Saint I'd ordered and later cancelled. I wish Dollshe was more on the ball about getting stuff out *sigh*. I'd like to someday have a Saint but I'd also like it in a smaller size than the typical 68cm or so version.

    54. Hi everyone. I recently bought my first Dollshe Diana 16F Classic Maxi doll from second hand and I really need some help. I do not know what clothes will fit Diana. Maybe from Iplehouse SID? I would appreciate your help.

    56. @SteamWitch I like Color's new wig, it contrasts great with his top

Is there anyone who owns both the 70-ish cm Dollshe, and the Fashion size? I am considering getting a smaller Dollshe to replace my larger Saint as he is very heavy for me, but am hesitant as not sure if the smaller models will have the same 'presence' as the bigger dolls? I guess it really is a personal thing which is different for everyone, but just interested in anyone's experience with this. Here's some Noah:

    58. @SteamWitch That colour is stunning :D

@Saba I love your Noah! His skin tone is amazing. :loveAs for the different sizes, I know lukoshka25 on instagram owns a 70cm Saint as well as a fashion-sized one. She's got a few photos of them with herself and other dolls for comparison and HERE is one of the two sizes together.

Since we're on the topic of Saints, here's one of my Caleb :)

    59. I would love to have a fashion sized Saint *sigh*. I could probably go for a full size Saint, too. I think one of each size would be a bit much for me but I probably wouldn't actually say no to it either because I'm horribly addicted to resin in the form of dolls and I must have all the dolls. All of them!!!!

*ahem* That soft sound you hear is my wallet gently weeping in the corner.
