Dollshe Discussion - Part Fifteen

I actually just recently bought the honey mango Hound that was in the MP. He's on his way to me now (but hasn't hit Canada yet according to tracking).

 

@Iron_Dog The one from Russia? If so, congratulations! I took one look at that listing and knew I wanted to get a lady in that skintone, it looks so nice and moisturized? I dont know the word, but supple

One thing Im surprised Dollshe hasnt done, since he's been having a lot of discount sales so Im guessing quick money is the point, is that Im surprised he hasnt added a rush order option at a higher cost. Ive seen it on some websites, I wanted a custom colored nintendo switch and there was a rush option for 30% of the price. Just seemed like something Dollshe would have liked to add if people are now avoiding buying direct because there isnt a production schedule pattern.

 

@GreenTeaSlug Yes, that's the one. He is Akusuo, God of Secrets, Dreams & The Lost. His partner is Kulfi (Impl Ziv in custom green), a healer with the Immortal Army (I haven't quite worked out his species yet).

 

I'm actually glad he hasn't tried that yet. Imagine how incensed (and rightly so) people would be if they paid extra for a rushed production time and it still took 3+ months. Not to mention, I imagine that a fairly high number of customers would pay the extra fee to avoid the infamous 1-2 year waits, which would mostly put us back at square one for wait times, except some people would be guaranteed agonizingly long waits because they didn't pay extra and everyone else would be extra upset because they did

 

I completely agree with @Girrl here. If Dollshe offered a "rush" option, everybody that could scrape together the extra, would.

I'm not a business orientated person and what I know about running a business could probably mostly fill a teacup. However, even I can see that the only way to truly clear the hideous backlog of orders would be to stop taking new ones and focus on fulfilling the ones he has. And for sheer bonus points, do the oldest orders first instead of randomly drawing orders to next be produced out of a hat as seems to be the current process.

It would also help tremendously to curb people's frustration to NOT offer a pre-order on a sculpt until the prototypes have been finished (at the very least). By all means, show us what you're working on so we can share the excitement of a new sculpt but don't offer it up for sale until it's actually ready to begin the process of being turned into a master mould or ready to cast period.

I for one would love to see the older orders disappear! Or I mean appear then disappear on the waiting list. We would all consider that fair.

Do you mean the model body? I have both David and Grant, but only the muscle SID body.

I have yet another stupid question for all you Dollshe Gurus - is the Mystic body really 70cm or is it bigger?

 

It's 70cm but it is a huge body, like Arsene's (is it the same as the mystic or just similar???).

That could be one I was looking at? It doesn’t look that big in the pictures, but it’s hard to tell. I don’t know if it’s labeled right or not, it’s listed as an SD 17 pose... Sd17 is Volks? So I’m confused. Regardless if it’s that big it’s a no and I’m back to the drawing board. Thanks!

 

The Mystic is a pretty chunky, muscular looking body. So where Arsene is a little more soft/natural, Mystic is more on the beefcake side. Though not quite as much as the Khan body.

Ok. Stupid question. I read from somewhere that Bernard would have smaller head than the normal 8-9. So what size wigs do you have on your Bernards?

 

Oof, well, I've decided I absolutely need 24m Khan's special sale package (and my gf just started up Diana's special with BJDivas), so I'm going to borrow $50 against myself (when my tax return arrives, I filed at the beginning of January so any day now) to get that kicked off. Then I'll just work at paying him off ASAP and forgetting about him until I receive a shipping notice, (ugh) (lol)

Oh and I added my prior orders/layaways to the tracker. I'm such a turkey and didn't realize this was a separate thing until literally today, so if you're like me and have Dollshe ordered (paid or on layaway), throw us some deets, the more the merrier!

My Bernard and Saint wear 7-8cm wigs. I don't have the new Grown heads just the older ones.

 

Oh so they do have smaller heads. Thank you! Need to start looking for the wig all over again.

 

So I've been poking around (found the blog posts on Dollshe's website about increasing Khan's head size, which is why I like him now) - however, the measurements under Khan's listing still list the head size as 21cm. That didn't seem right, so I asked @americanseamstress on Instagram and heard back that it's 25cm - which sounds far more accurate to me, especially when looking at pictures. I was wondering if anyone else has him and wants to give that a quick measure - Dollshe says he'll update the measurement on the site.

I think my original question generated some confusion when I emailed about it. Possibly language barrier/lost in translation, but anyway -

My ultimate goal here is wig-shopping in advance lol

What eye size do you guys use for your girls? Dollshe lists everyone with 14mm eyes, but that is one measurement I never believe from makers

 

@sahoma - I use Eyeco silicone eyes. For Ausley Love: 13-15mm (she has rather large eye sockets), and 11mm for Amanda.

 

I had 13mm in my new boy (Hound) but there was the tiniest bit of gaping in the outside corners. It wasn't visible unless you were looking really closely so I changed those out for a pair of 15mm I made him. Wu-Tyr (Orijean) wears 14mm but his eye shape is also very narrow as far as height goes but long in width.

 

I've got 9mm masterpiece in my Amanda (they use larger scleras to avoid gapping) so a lot will depend on maker @sahoma. In general, I've found 9-13mm to be the sweet spot for Dollshe in general if you want human-scale eyes. You can go a bit larger in some sculpts or for a softer and more doll-like look.

I'm feeling off my photography game, but Persephone is photogenic enough to make up for it. ^^;

 

Since Khan's true head circumference is apparently 25cm instead of 21cm, can someone confirm that 12mm eyes still fit best?

 

Okay. I ordered 2 dolls with Arsene bodies (in May and July) in oriental. I have at least five heads that were going to swap those bodies. But now that the resin has changed color I'm wondering if I should switch them both to fresh if I can. I've already changed them from fresh to oriental and from pose body to arsene. Help! I'm feeling really crazy.

My pretty girl arrived today! I'm so excited to start working on her. Eyes are temporary and don't even fit but golden eyes are what I'm going for. She is a second hand Dollshe Fashion sized Amanda in modern grey.

Does anyone know or have any pictures of how gate marks would be on the darker honey skins? Have a pale tan in pure skin that has really noticeable gate marks on his shoulder and wondering if going honey skin next time would solve that or if they'd at least be a little better

 

I have a honey mango boy (which is more like a salted caramel than mango) and he doesn't have any noticeable gate marks that I can see.
