DollShe craft 28M and 26F Fashion Pose 44/41 cm size

People, I am trying to remember the ordering periods of the 28M boys so far, to add into the review. So, first PO event was a one month, time-limited discount one, from Dec 2014 to Jan 2015. There is now what appears to be a number-limited "love the grey" (or whatever it is called) discount PO of 100 pieces. However, it also appears to be time-limited. It was initially from Sept to Oct, but seems to have been extended and is now running from Nov to December. What happened between these two events? Were they ever available on general sale and, if so, was it at the original base price of $395 or the increased price of $570 (price increase in September)?

 

As I recall, the pre-order Christmas package was limited to 100 pieces of each gender. Initially there was a time limit but I think they sold them until they ran out. Then it seemed like they were sold out for a while before being offered again at the higher price. Once I'd bought and paid for mine I didn't pay attention to any of the later particulars, I'm afraid.

 

No, my situation exactly. OK, I don't remember the 100 piece limit and the extended order period. That sounds to be the same as the current PO. So, anyone know if they have been on general sale between the first and the current PO? I am thinking not.

Ah, yes. There was a limit of 100 full packages of two heads and optional hands and then it went to basic packages of just body and one head for the remainder of the period. So, when did the period stop and did anyone not get the Christmas special?

And that reminds me. Secret parts. What happened with those? Not that I am kvetching as that was a lot of doll for the money, but the Xmas issue was advertised as full package and "secret parts". We spend quite some time trying to guess what those might be. As it happens, they were so secret we couldn't even find them.

Was it? So, was the only difference between the full package (100 limit) and basic package the sleeping head? I have just read through the announcements and questions and I can't find anywhere where he states what is in the limited full package. Were the contents ever listed?

 

The hip hands were mentioned as the secret gift parts. I posted the XMas fashion package in this thread when petiteballerine received because we were trying to figure out what happened to some of the parts. Based on past cached views of the website it looks like they were available for the regular price $357 and $395 for a while. I know a friend of mine ordered hers over the summer. For those orders it looks like you could choose your head SA or OE and your skin color.

These were the original XMas package contents:

– 8 DollShe silicone elbow joint protectors (prevent joints from hitting one another; act like cartilage; prevent wear and tear of urethane; stay in place effectively for enhanced posability)

I think the new full package is something a little different because there is one more pair of hands and Rey Lewis does not have a sp head so I'm not sure if the new 100 set that they had for In Love with Grey is going to come with the sp heads.

 

Well, for the price difference between the Christmas full package ($274 for the guys) and the current one ($399 with the 30% discount) I'm not going to quibble about an extra set of hands.

 

Yahoo my Grant arrived today. He is pretty amazing. Mine is in the orential resin color. So tomorrow I am hoping to fit some eyes and take a few photos. I'm just sad I won't get to make anything for him right away. Now I really am anxious for my Amanda to arrive but I don't think that is going to happen till January according to the last message from Dollshe. But at least Grant has arrived!

So, were the summer orders the "basic package" of just head and body, do you know, or did it include option hands as well? I am thinking that the post-Sept price hike ($570, before discounts), whilst being reasonable for a set with an extra head, extra feet and two pairs of extra hands, it is a hell of a lot to pay for a 1:4 doll. Many people would rather pay less and get just a head and body, I'm sure. Just wondering if that combo has already been offered.

 

It seems like it was just the head and body with how they did a strike through through the holiday package information and stated it was just the basic composition. They only let you choose one head so David's sp head or his OE head and then the body. Its a little confusing because they left all the Christmas package info there and just modified that page instead of creating a new selling page so I guess we won't know for sure until those orders start arriving.

 

I thought Dollshe's price hike was expensive until I saw the price for the Kinsman dolls. Mr K is making art for a bargain price IMO. (he keeps putting them on sale. lol.)

 

Hand painted fashion dolls are very expensive (wasn't aware of Kinsman, but do follow CG Doll/PlasticGuy, and they are 1.290 Euros for a 1:6 doll). But they are artist painted, severely limited full sets. And the fashion doll market just is prepared to pay more.

If you add up the cost of all the bits in the full package, it is not expensive. However, trying to sell a blank doll and head for more than $400 will mean either people won't buy, or they will wait for the inevitable 30% sale.

I probably won't be getting my boy painted until after the holidays [Scary shipping time!] so I wanted to just share a funnier picture of him. I tried out that motioncapture app that everyone on Instagram was fawning over and this was the result.....
I think I prefer him with his mouth closed.




I'm looking at a few different eye companies and think I found some that may work until there are some proper ones available.... if nothing else I'll have to try and make my own? Eeek.
I hope to try and make him a wig this weekend!
...And order him some clothes.... Wow there is still quite the to do list for this guy!

Actually, Grant is about as much shorter than Guarvo as I am than my brothers so the scale works for me.

 

I think the only doll that is similarly sized is the Luts Model Delfs. They don't look bad together to me, but the Chiclines head seems really, really tiny in comparison.

After playing around with Grant more I miss the separate ankle and wrist joints of my minifee. I'm fighting with these gorgeous hands to get them to stay where I want them to.

 

@petiteballerine Nice job! They do stand amazingly well, don't they? I was impressed that my guy stood where I first plopped him down out of the box without me actually posing him first.

@Animethemed That is awesome! Scary, but awesome. I'm right there with you on the eyes. It looks like I'm going to have to make some.

Ooh, nice comparison, @MadamMauMau! I agree that they don't really 'fit' with any of my other dolls in the same height range (not that my other dolls really fit together anyway.)


Still no wig, but he now has eyes that sort of work, and a pair of pants that are a tad short, but fit where it counts. My new can of MSC arrived so, I'll definitely be redoing his face up this weekend. Well, as long as the weather cooperates, and it's not too cold.

 

Kayla your Grant looks wonderful! Who's pants did you find that fit him "in all the right places"?

I was hoping my Grant would work with my Marmite Sue or my chicline girl but that is not meant to be. I'm glad I ordered Amanda now. I'm trying to decide if I dare go ahead and order Erica Snow and the new male sculpt (not David) that his name is escaping me. It would be a good time to order since their still on sale but wonder how long the wait will be if I do. It would easier to wait since I know how wonderful the sculpts are. Any one else considering ordering again?

I tried some Msd items I had here and was pleased to find some of the dollheart Msd boots I have fit Grant really well.

 

The whole size difference to other dolls makes me amused somehow - I mean I knew that'd be the case but still... and the poor guy's husband and daughter have bigger noggins, I dread to think of the pic of all three together I planned to do xD

 

@Animethemed - I think that's a pretty good representation of him laughing. with eyes + hair/faceup, he'd "pass" for real to the casual observer. I've made a few stop-mo vids of my dolls, but never messed with their .....oh, wait...there is the smiling horse. never mind.

@Kayka - OMG, pants that fit! I keep seeing them; all stopping at the ankle bone. but it covers the manly parts. Is that the Matt O 17.5 size? or super hero?

@MadamMauMau - thanks so much. Yes, I made the wig. I haven't made many over the years, but it's fun & I'd like to do more of it. which is a good thing considering these 44s look like shite in everything I've tried on them. I do need to sort out his facial hair. right now it's looking like marmalade from breakfast toast gone wrong. I'm tempted to try the Tibetan on his chin. my 5th Motif Goowha has real facial hair & I don't mind total silence when I post a pic.

great lineup there. I saw one somewhere with Jamieshow boys & a Kinsman. but Stellan is waiting for his partner to come home.(Rey Lewis) He flirted with Lara Croft, but his heart wasn't in it.

I should take a picture of them with my 70cm-scaled troupe, shouldn't I? Shows how seductive the current batch of 1:4 dolls are that I have abandoned eight years of careful measuring and checking for compatibility. The first set I got, the ChicLines, I tried to explain by having them as fairies. Now, I'm just like "Fuggit, get another one". Ah, how one's standards have dropped.

I hope we see other companies bring out a fun-sized line of their large sculpts. Then I will have an even greater group of mismatched dollies.

My Grant arrived at my moms place a town over on the 2nd! One day over 11 months lol. I got him sent there because I think I moved twice during the wait period :/ she's coming to visit tomorrow and bringing the tiny resin man with her so pics soon! I don't think the eyes I got will work (6mm) after seeing other people pics but hopefully they will do until I can find some good ones. This guy was totally an impulse buy and will need some time to develop a character and style.

 

I just ordered a shirt and some pants, hopefully they will fit and he will have at least one outfit.

@petiteballerine One day I will have to get that Honey skin because your guy looks perfect in it and his hair is very nice. @Kayka eyes, a faceup, AND clothes! You're leaps and bounds ahead of me I like the scale of the eyes a lot, could you please share where they came from

 

can anyone "translate" the latest notice about the Fashion sale? it sounds like you won't get the full package anymore. of course, Mr K changes his mind a lot. I want a mini David, but already have Rey on layaway.

Well, 'fit' may be a bit of an exaggeration, if you're looking for pants that actually reach/go past his ankles. These are probably going to be temporary pants until I can find or comission longer ones. The scale of the belt loops also bothers me. For now, I'm just pleased to have a pair that go around his waist and close, as none of my mini sized pants did. They're from here, if anyone is interested, but they definitely are not long enough.

@AaloriRian Sure! The eyes came from here, but as far as I can tell, these are the only 6mm eyes they have. Be forewarned that the stalks are sharp.

Yes, I love his resin color! Now, I just need to redo his face up.

 

9 days short of a year, my mini Grant is home. He is wearing sack cloth and ashes in atonement for the long suffering he put me through. The eyes in picture are 5/6mm Eyeco soft glass and fill the sockets pretty well as they deform to fill the space as needed. (The ashes are merely figurative.) He's trying to tell me his name is Ibrahim but I am not sure I believe him yet.

Edit: these eyes may be Masterpeice not Eyeco. They are labeled 5/6mm Afghan and I bought them close to a year ago.

 

So today I saw the hat the boy's body now have a regular pose and a pose + body which has a different joint system which looks very interesting.

We have been discussing this on the thread for Dollshe Discussion - Part Seven | Den of Angels because it involves the large size dolls.
The many joints give greater mobility to the doll but take away somewhat from it's statuesque beauty so it is good to have both options.

I agree with you Therealwalter about them taking their charm away. It is nice to have both options.

 

Well, I missed that too. In putting my chap through his paces for the review, the lack of rotation on the arms and legs and lack of a second torso joint were two of the main complaints. Very pleased to see this has been fixed. Now I want the one with the changes in mini size.

I do prefer the look of the Pose body more, but those are the arms I wanted. I also would have liked a different design for the ankle and wrist joints as well. We'll see if these become available for the smaller ones. They've really been working. Maybe it won't be too long before we see those 18M/F fashion dolls.

@Therealwalter so glad your order finally arrived. Those eyes look pretty nice in your boy. You received a couple of dolls right? Will you be posting a box opening?

More eye info. I received the prototype eyes from Enso Eyes (hane on here) for my chap. They are little masterpieces. These have a 2.4mm iris, which might be too small for some, but I like the mature look they give him. She still has some work to do to make ones that fit these shallow eye wells, but they are coming along very nicely.



And that flower crown is NEVER coming off his head.

Thanks AaloriRian. Everyone round here gets to wear a flower crown at some point. It's part of the ritual humiliation I inflict on my dollies.

@kobbi I like those eyes. I think at this small size cheap eyes look really nice as long as they fit.

My outfit arrived while I was at work and just like I was hoping it fits like a charm! They are Luts Model Delf Clothes, and now I need to order right from their website! I was lucky to find these at a local retailer. I now need to get one pair of jeans and a pair of black pants and I'll be set. Shirts are easier to make and find but nice pants are a pain.

This thread is fairly long and I'm not sure where we ended up with the special vouchers. This is being discussed over in the main Dollshe thread. Option hands. The Xmas package contents were described as having the smoking hands and secret parts. We surmised that the secret parts were an extra pair of hands. However, I didn't get any smoking hands. Did anyone else? The ones I got were waist-holding, one glass holding hand and one random butt-groping hand, which I can't find on the site. Anyone get anything different?




ETA: The random groping hand is shown next to the glass holding hand in the mini full package. However, it is not shown in the glass holding hands option section. But then only the left hand is shown there, so perhaps it is a right glass-holding hand (for a brandy balloon?). Makes more sense than it being a groping hand, although I suspect that is what it will be used for. XD

 

And to add, seeing as it needs another post, this is the hands, labelled as far as I can work it out. Which did people get with their full packages? I just got waist holding and glass holding, as well as relaxed and dressing paddles. No cigarette holding.

 

Same here, no cigarette holding hands but the rest.

 

I only got the others, no cigarette holding hands. We were only supposed to get 2 pair and then the gift turned out to be a pair too. They must have switched them or gotten confused on which pairs that they said were supposed to be in the package. The butt gripping hand kind of freaks me out because the two middle fingers are the same size, which is totally irrational, and it's been in the box since I noticed it for that reason so the cig one might have been better for me, lol.
