Anyone else get an email saying that the fashion maxi line is being discontinued?
Do you think Dollshe means it this time?

 

I did. I'm wondering if they do mean it this time... I wanted to get an Arsene but I don't want to wait a year plus.

 

I can't remember what each category designation means. Is the fashion maxi the big dolls or this size? Either way, I didn't get the email but I'm not surprised. I bought my Saint from a dealer.

I keep seeing Dollshe dolls from China on eBay all the time, so this may be the very reason why Dollshe is having a hard time selling his dolls and the wait time for them.

 

I guess I better check my preferences, as I didn't get that email. So disheartening! There go my hopes of getting an EN and/or SA version of Rey Lewis. I am so tempted, but I am already waiting for 2 fashion minis and a fashion maxi khan.

 

Thanks @xyuemoto! It's too bad DollShe Craft feels he has to stop production of these dolls due to the proliferation of cheap Chinese copies. Unfortunately, it won't stop the recasters and only hurts DollShe, who won't have any income from these lines.

 

has he ever discontinued anything? the prices are very good if you have the patience to wait for a Dollshe.

 

I didn't get the email/notification either. The prices are really good but nobody speaks to me, calling to come home (for which my wallet is grateful) and I'm currently waiting on a Dollshe (and creeping ever closer to the 1-year mark *sigh*). And I just bought 2 dolls (not Dollshe) in 2 weeks. I believe I must either go on a resin diet or enter some sort of addiction counselling program.

 

I got the email to but all the dolls say sold out. I sent him an email also stating that I dont think he should discontinue his dolls because if he does new buyers that want his older sculpts and dont know any better may buy them from recasters. I have to admit I did it for selfish reasons no matter how long I have to wait there are other dolls of his that Id like to get later on. I only buy when he offers them on sale though because I couldnt afford them any other way.

 

I mean, the wait is always gonna be bananas. So if that's your reason for hesitating, it's not like there's gonna be a time when it's consistently better. I don't know that Dollshe's ever permanently discontinued anything except the og versions of his first 'dog-name' sculpts? He stuck to his guns for a long time on Bermann especially. But it's very possible he'll stop production for a while regardless. That has happened a few times on rare occasions; he just tends to bring things back in some form eventually. Recasting is absolutely hurting him, so he might actually do a long discontinuation period this time. On the artist end of things, making your dolls more accessible only hurts you more with the recast situation. Better to focus on new development and limited runs if you want to turn a profit. Who knows if he'll stick to it though.

FWIW: I'm waiting on a fashion rey lewis maxi who will probably take a year or two to turn up. Also waiting on an Erica Snow who might turn up this year or next (who knows really). I'm fine with that. Dollshe always delivers. My advice on Dollshe is always to order if you're willing to wait and otherwise just opt out altogether or go second-hand. He's never been someone who has a consistent 4 month turnaround, so there's no reason to think that will change, and if you're not someone who can wait on things, you'll end up miserable.

 

With Mr Kim, you just don't know. He would never (I don't think) not deliver. But, he did become disgusted with copycats and shut down almost completely several years ago. I didn't even buy a Dollshe doll until Tensiya offered them in late 2004.
For me, no honeyskin option is a deal breaker. I'd rather pay more for what I want. Or do without.
I have enough normal resins. My oldest Dollshe is 2004, newest is still a gleam in the master's eye after six months.

 

I certainly feel for him with regards to pirates. I hate them with a passion as I've had my creative works (novels) stolen by pirates, usually for free downloads but there have been a couple of incidences where my work was being sold without my permission. The one that made me the angriest was something I'd posted as a free-read for my readers to enjoy and some scummy pirate was selling it.

It can be very disheartening to work so hard on something and then have people steal your creation and sell copies of it for a fraction of what you (reasonably) ask. I can understand why he's discontinuing the lines because of that. But I also think the recasters will rev up the engines so to speak to meet the demand for those dolls when they're not available anymore. Part of the problem, in my opinion, is that the people who keep the recasters pumping out copies aren't interested in purchasing the real deal when they can get something "basically the same" for a fraction of the cost. They don't understand (or care) that supporting the pirates by buying their stuff hurts the real artist of the sculpt they so badly want to have. Sometimes it even hurts the business enough that they permanently shut down. And then everybody loses, including the artist and that's just sad.

The sales prices are very, very tempting because I just love me a deal and Dollshe makes beautiful dolls. But I have recently just bought 2 dolls and I'm still waiting on a Dollshe boy so I closed that tab without making further eye contact.

 

Oh gosh. I really want that Arsene. And you can’t beat that price. I really wish Pale Tan were an option though. I’m gonna have to think on it because I’m not sure I want to wait another year or more.

He'd be OT for this thread but a Fashion Maxi David Kuncci in copper oriental would be very, very lovely.

The Classic mini with just about any head (55cm-ish) interests me more. but, it only has the Mystic body which I'm not in love with.
If he did Khan in that size with all the honey choices, I'd be lost.

 

Yeah. I'm waiting on a Saint on the 55cm in espresso ebony. Khan in that size in copper oriental would be very nice, too. But while nice, I've no idea who the David would be so I can't click buy. And my wallet would seriously hate me (2 dolls in 2 weeks + crappy exchange on the $CAN=frightened/crying wallet already). It would also mean I'd need to delay getting some heeled feet and shoes for one of my other guys. So I will wistfully admire from afar.

 

I finally fixed Moon's faceup, I think. Hopefully the last time in a while I have to work on this tiny head, haha.

 

The eyes from Sartoriaj fit regular big dollshe dolls. They'll be enormous on these guys I think.

 

Those are just glib 'realistic' oval glass eyes. I've seen them in person many times. They're much longer than normal 8mm eyes (they'll fit some 12-14mm sockets), and they are not small iris, so the eye will be filled with iris. The fashion dollshes can usually fit a round 7-8mm, but need small iris, like popovy size.

 

Hi folks, I have a question. Is Dollshe no longer making the 26F Fashion Maxi line? I know the 18M Fashion Maxi are now on a final sale, and I"m wondering if I've missed the boat on the ladies of this specific size category. Thank you.

 

@stuartsmycat Last I heard they still are. He just redid Amanda's head and added Sleeping and EN heads so I would certainly hope they all are still. I keep thinking of getting an Amanda.
The 28M Classic and Fashion are being discontinued, and the 18M Arsene body only, I believe. I think Arsene's head is not being discontinued. Although someone correct me if I am wrong.

 

@redmaiko thank you. I may have snagged an Amanda second hand, but it's good to know for future planning.

 

I recently acquired a fashion-sized David Kuncci from the second hand market (I saw it mentioned that he's OT for this thread -- can anyone tell me why?), and he's absolutely stunning. He's on the basic body, though, so I wonder if I should pick up an L2 or L4 for him while the buying is good ... BJDivas said that heads and bodies would be up for sale separately in about a week, so maybe I should hold out until then ... but Rey Lewis is quite tempting as well.

I know the wait will kill me, but the prices are so reasonable and these boys are just so gorgeous! Hmmm ...

 

Welp, I ordered a copper oriental Arsene. I’ve been wanting one for a while to pair with my Amanda. I’ve been putting it off, because I didn’t want to wait another year, but for that price, I’m willing to wait.

 

You were able to order that colour with the discount?

 

Oops, sorry! I meant copper oriental! Pale tan was what I originally wanted, but it’s not available.

 

@lavalunar 28m Kunicci is not OT. Not sure what that comment was about (maybe the new 31cm dolls?) but David is the og 28m. Besides, we all post pretty much the entire 40ishcm range here.

I come bearing gifts for anyone who, like @HeyJude wants to know just how oversize regular 8mm eyes are.

These are the sartoriaj 8mm oval. They're very small eyes, but Dollshe dolls need small iris like popovy.

Do the Mystic body and Arsene body have similar enough measurements that they could share clothes?

 

@taixonay Yes. The Mystic has longer arms and legs, is slimmer through the hips, but in general, it works. All of these guys look best in stuff made for kinsman/matt dolls.

Matt O'Neil clothes don't always work for Arsene. collar too big. even for mystic. shoulders don't fit right. some buttons and other details out of proportion.
but, ok on 28M.

@rianne thank you! I saw someone on IG made some jeggings for the mystic fashion maxi body, so I was thinking of buying some clothes from them.

 

@taixonay You can check out hazelstreetdesigns and jeansbyjenna for stuff too. The former has things in kinsman size, and the latter makes jeans custom tailored for a whole range of bodies.
