DollShe craft 28M and 26F Fashion Pose 44/41 cm size - Part 3

Jun 30, 2017

    1. @AaloriRian Thanks! Though, mine seem pretty tightly-strung, as they're pretty kicky right now. I'll have to play around a bit more and see what I can get to work.

      Onto the eyes!

Unfortunately, the custom pair I had made for Ausley don't fit right (7mm globes), and the lovely pair I ordered from AncientTales on Etsy are too small (6mm, I gambled and lost), so she's wearing a pair of resin/acrylic 7mm DreamingTreeStudios (also Etsy) flatbacks in "Seaglass". They fit okay, but there's not much room to move them around in the socket and they're not the right color, but for now they'll do. Grant is wearing 8mm urethane eyes from EnsoEyes on Etsy, and they fit pretty snug - not much room at all to move them around. They're not his final eyes, but again, they'll do (and are very nice quality, by the way).

And, for everyone's future reference, here is a side-by-side comparison of the two, so you can see the ~3cm height difference between the 28M Fashion and 26F Fashion. I think they go well together.

Now begins the arduous process of making wigs. And clothes. And lovingly bemoaning the first two. :thumbup

    2. Thanks for all the clothes suggestions guys, will check them out. David Kuncci 28m44cm is my first bjd.

    3. Wow Japanese outfit sounds intriguing. I just purchased a hakama set for Rey. I hope the fit is good.

Okay, as promised, the pictures! They're both in Pure Oriental Skin (should have gotten Copper Oriental for Grant... :sigh)

      .

I am really liking the eyes you have for Grant. I plan on checking out EnsoEyes. I think my Rey Lewis is needing a new pair of eyes.

    4. Thanks! They're very pretty for being so small. And they're kind of sparkly, too, but not in an obvious or distracting way. I definitely recommend EnsoEyes.

    7. ugh, this wait is killing me. I don't mind the mysterious unknown wait time on my Saint, but knowing that someone who ordered a Grant Phillipe the day before I did has received their doll already and seeing that mine hasn't shipped yet it driving me batty!

      • x 2
    8. @NoDivision That sucks! What skin color did you order? Mine was Pure Oriental, so if you ordered anything 'darker', or the Honey skin, it seems to take longer than the 'lighter' colors. Fingers crossed for you, though!

      • x 1
    9. Pure oriental also @_@

    10. They are likely to hold on to the one until both are done if you ordered 2 dolls even if you paid for separate shipping for each. This has happened to me s couple times.

      • x 1
    11. Man, I would hope not. I ordered them several weeks apart - and the second doll isn't going to be done any time soon. Guess I'll ask them for a shipping estimate.

      • x 1
    12. I love my Rey Lewis 28M doll, but feel that Dollshe struggles with real time estimates and communication. I wrote several emails that went unanswered and became very frustrated. All I ask is good communication. You can be late with production, just let me know. They also bundled my 2 orders which were about 12 days apart.

      • x 1
    13. I've figured this out...finished sculpts like the 28Ms and 26Fs and the Arsene and the kids, are gonna ship fast (2-3 months), but anything new, like the order made or the Mystic body or Diana, are gonna take 8-12 months. Do NOT listen to them when they give you a 2 month estimate when you email to ask. They don't know! So it just gives us false hope.
On a happier note. I got my Fashion Aresene! I was totally unprepared for him, as I won him, and he was finished, so he came fast. Since photobucket no longer does hosting...I'll update this post with a pic once I get it on my FB. I'm making a hard cap wig for him now...as I had absolutely nothing that fit him. He's like...a 4-5 and I have 2.5-4, 5-6, and 6-9, so I'm missing his size completely. The 6mm eyes I had extra fit...but need wider whites (I find this typical as my Saints and Bernard wear 14cm with a small iris, Arsene is similar, but in this case smaller). And some of my MSD clothes fit him well enough for now.

    14. Congrats! Fun sized Arsene is such a nice thing. I am very much enjoying mine.

There is a thread on small hard cap wigs in here if you wanted to join us. We battle daily with the problems inherent in wigging tiny heads.

And they need small iris 8mm eyes. Enso Eyes on Etsy might have some, but I believe she is now winding down, so I don't know how many more times she will replenish stock. Alternatively, AncientTales are now doing 8/3mm eyes, which would be just about perfect for Arsene. Also on Etsy.

    15. Perhaps this is not the topic. But I did not find another. I'm very interested in who has the doll 18M? You can share the photos?

    16. The gods were listening - got my shipping notice this morning!

      • x 2
    17. What is it specifically you wanted to see? Is it the Fashion sized 18Ms? If so, I think only Arsene has shipped so far, and he is on a slightly different body to the other 18Ms. If it's the full sized 18Ms, those are in a different thread, in the Large Dolls section. A few people have received their Mystic bodies (the current 18M body). If it's 18M heads, these are in the process of being re-sculpted to "Grown" versions. Again, some have been completed and released and they are all in the Large Dolls thread. The Fashion line only gets sent out once the full sized versions have shipped, so might need to be patient if you wanted to see those.

      @NoDivision Congrats.

    18. good to know there is a thread on just tiny hard cap wigs. I'd love the check it out.
As for eyes, I'm rather fond of Dreaming Tree Studios on Etsy and she is always up for doing custom sizes and irises. The ones he has in are hers, I just need to get the 8mm with 6mm size iris. I should probably get a few just in case I need the same size for my other 3 fashions coming. They are really affordable and pretty colors.
I was wondering if you had any faceup artist suggestions. Ones that are willing to work on such small faces, something realistic. I don't like leaving dolls blank and I've seen some really pretty Arsene faceups out there and mine just looks sad that he's blank.

    19. I'm hoping to snag spots with Xhanthi for one or both of my guys. She did a stunning job on this fashion Grant Phillippe. Of course she opened for commissions just a little before I got my shipping notification, so I didnt want to snag a spot without a doll in hand

Quick question, is very difficult to find a faceup artist for dolls that are in Dollshe's Honey Caramel Brown and fashioned sized?

    25. Handsome men! Yay! love those undies.

A question for those who ordered fashion Bermann. I see that Dollshe has finished the mold for Khan fashion, but no word about the little Bermms.
Apparently, some people don't even have their big B's yet from months ago.

I'm not getting emails anymore for some reason. It seemed as though they came a couple times a week. Not any more.

So, my thanks to anyone with info.

    26. @petiteballerine
I know a few people have asked about the fashion grown boys. Most recently, Joy LaBelle posted in the waiting room thread about a response she got about the fashion mystic body:
"We are making a silicon mold to make a fashion type dolls. It will finish on the July - August."

Pretty vague answer, haha. Before that I remember someone asking for an ETA on grown fashion boys and they were told that they'd start production in July.

I do wonder which sculpt they'll be doing first. For the big ones they started with Bermann, he seemed to be the most popular, but I reckon at fashion size it's Saint.

PS: I love seeing all the new little guys here!

    27. Hoping you're right about saint for the fashion boys. From the blog images it looked like he was fairly far along.

    28. Just received this relatively cheap Asmus suit for an off-topic doll (the guy in the middle), and it got me wondering how it would fit on the modern fashion sized bjds around these parts:

    29. I am guessing that is a 1:6 scale Tony Stark (there is a 1:4 scale version). The clothes are waaaay too small. I just held an action figure up against my Grant and Arsene and even a t shirt would be a wrestle (I am not going to try it and rip it) and would be too short. Different scales. I can just about get action figure clothes on my 1:5 scale Chicline, but even that is small. There is very little in the way of 1:4 clothing for action figures yet, but it is a growing field. It would be slightly too large, but you might get away with rolling up shirt sleeves. My aGatti is the same size as a 1:4 scale action figure and his shirt on my Arsene looks as though he is wearing his big brother's clothes. Shame, eh?

ETA: I was curious to see whether anyone had yet made 1:4 action figure stuff. It's coming! As I say, this might be too big for these, but it would be close, as the 1:4 body these go on is about 46cm. Could work!

    30. Ah, he might be too tall for these new Dollshe guys, that's a shame I was hoping there'd finally be some useful crossover between the two halves of this hobby.

Hah! I wouldn't have asked if it was 1/6, sorry should have made it more obvious why I thought this might be relevant. He's a 1/4 scale figure - Hot Toys 1/4 scale mk43 head, on a CooModels body, wearing a 1/4 scale Asmus suit (and MNF glasses), plunked next to a 50cm Obitsu and 1/4 scale Dollzone for scale.

However, since he's midway between the Obitsu50 and relatively tall Dollzone body I'd guess he's on the wrong side of 45cm.

Nevertheless here's the suit if anyone wants the info: Asmus Toys

    33. Ah! Yes, I'm not familiar with the other dolls, so didn't know if it was 1:6 or 1:4.

Thinking about it, there is a chance the 1:4 scale action figure clothing might fit. The Coomodel body seems to be 47cm. Could you get some measurements for us? Shoulder, chest, waist, hips, arm and leg length? That would help. There are now a couple of suits that seem to be for the Coomodel body. I also found one that claims it's for 16"/40cm. I can't believe that's true, as I don't think there is an action figure body that size. The 1:4 scale is still so new as a customisable size in the action figure world that it is all pretty unproven at this stage.

    34. Sure I'll dig out the tape measure and give it a shot - however could you please let me know precisely where on the body to take the measurements please?

Sorry - whilst I've done the masking tape to make patterns technique, I'm afraid I'm not a tailor/seamstress at all but I'm horribly aware there's several ways this could go a bit wrong!

      • x 1
    35. Crikey, well, I don't sew either, but I do have a growing collection of measurements, in the hope of finding stuff that fits my roughly 1:4 crew.

OK, so shoulder is across the back, from where one shirt shoulder seam would be to the other. Chest is over the fullest bit of the chest all round, usually over the nipples. Waist is around the narrowest part of the body, usually just above the hip bones. Hips is all around the widest part of the pelvis, over the fullest part of he buttocks. Arms is from where the shoulder seam of a shirt would be to the wrist. Leg measurements seem to have no consistency. In humans, it's inside leg. In dolls, the most common is probably waist to floor, but that is one that I don't depend on, due to the inconsistency.

Here is a diagram which shows roughly where to measure, for humans at least.

    36. Thanks! That's a concise but easy to understand explanation.

(Urgh - right tape measure has gone walkabout but expect rough numbers at some point this week, I know roughly where it is)

    37. Ha ha ha *wipes tear* okay so I tried to fit pants up my used Kuncchi 44cm classic legs - they were Matt Tonner pants from ebay because I think I read somewhere they might fit.

NOPE. Nope nope nope. Had to take his feet off to get them up, and then couldn't close 'em, and then when I sat him they just popped right open and gave him plumber's bum. It was hilarious. (Also now I have to teach myself restringing because in the hilarity he went flying and his legs popped off and I needed to go to bed at that point) Damn his damn fine waist and below sculpt, damn it to heck!

But I have learned my lesson and will be significantly more careful with fit going forward!

      • x 2
    38. Oh dear! Tonner Matt fits Arsene, who is quite a bit slimmer than the mini 28Ms (I assume that's what you have your Kuncci head on). SartoriaJ does beautiful clothes for the Fashion 28Ms (Don't buy the Classic, as that is the full-sized version. I have had friends do the opposite and buy Fashion-sized for their Classics and get a set of shoes about half the length of their doll's feet.). They are on Etsy.

      • x 1
    39. Ha ha yes exactly, thank you!!!! That's where I failed, I read threads and wasn't paying attention to the difference between the fashion 28Ms and and Arsene; NOW I KNOW. I was trying to Skimp and didn't go straight to SartoriaJ, but I have learned my lesson. -_-;

      • x 1
    40. It depends on the clothing I suppose, but yeah, not pants so much. I have a Tonner 17" trench coat on my Grant and other than being a little shorter than I would like it's a perfect fit.

      • x 1
    41. Yeah that looks fantastic! Love the styling. I have a shirt coming, so hopefully that DOES fit!

      • x 1
    42. Some of the Tonner 17" doll clothes do fit our fashion hunks. pants not so much, but coats, some tees work.
My Capt. Sparrow is stark naked from having his entire outfit stolen by various dolls. the shirt and coat fit Dollshe 28M fashion.
I think the pants sort of fit, too, shorter and don't sit down in them!

someone stole his boots, too. but, forget who.

    43. I've been eyeing these various grass/leaf mats at Michael's for a long time thinking they'd be great for doll photos. There are WAY too many mosquitos for me to take photos outdoors at this point. They finally went on clearance for 70% off. I have no regrets.

      • x 7
    44. Omg, I'm gonna have to go to Michaels! I wouldn't have any regrets either, it looks so good as a background. There are different types? The scale is just perfect for msd.

      • x 1
    45. Yeah, there are/were a few different ones. My Michael's only had 2 different kinds left at this point, but originally I remember seeing probably 6 or 7 different textures.

    46. I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but...has anyone paired a Dollmore fashion girl with a fashion Grant or David, etc?
if they wear Tonner clothes, they must be smaller than Dollshe girls. ?? my chiclines wear Tonner and Mdm Alex.

Mr. K may or may not have a sale on his girls again. (I'm guessing he will) but my strawberry David does not want to come out of his box, get painted, wear clothes...have a life.
I'm thinking maybe he wants a girlfriend.

pics or links please if possible.

      :chocoberry

      • x 1
    47. They're not paired per se, but they are in the same photo and standing next to each other. ^^ Comparison encore2
The Tonner clothes I have do fit perfectly, like the one in twilight / Cullen outfit here. She's a bit shorter than Dollshe girls tho.

      • x 1
    48. @ATYL - super helpful. I saw that in my Google search but didn't click to see bigger to identify dolls. many thanks.

hate to admit it, but Dollshe girl is just the right height in heeled feet.
I was thinking I'd get her in heeled legs so no ankle fuss.

    49. depending on the fabric and the cut (and the dollshe bust size), tonner tyler tops also fit dollshe girls. some matt pants too with little adjustments. amanda's wearing both in that pic. she also has on some non-tyler tonner shoes. so ready-to-wear is possible.

    50. Urgh sorry guys- I promise I've not forgotten, but I am going to have to give up and get a new tape measure. The only one in the house at the moment that I can find is the evil razor edged metal one, no idea where the actual tape measure has ended up...

And woah woah woah - absolutely loving the mac.

    51. Hi guys! Was wondering if anyone had gotten measurements off of their fasion M18 Arsene yet for possible clothes fitting? I've received mine, got him yesterday and planning to take measurements today for (hopefully) learning to sew for him. It'd be nice to find at least one pair of pants for him in the meantime so he's not naked...

    52. Someone found the old page with the Fashion Arsene measurements on it and posted it in here. It will probably be a few pages back, but it is in here somewhere.

    53. I am happy to say I have an Arsene on the way! :whee: I am wondering how difficult it is to switch out the various hand parts? I have been mostly a Fairylander (Soom and a few others sprinkled in there), so I am used to switching out magnet hands. Does it take a lot of effort to unhook them?

    54. Congrats!

I find switching hands really easy. All of mine have had pretty long s-hooks and are not strung super tight so you can just pull the elastic out and pop the hands off and on.

    55. Oh good! Thank you for your answer! I switch out the hands on my other dolls constantly for different photos, so I am happy to hear that. :3nodding:

    56. For any struggling to find the right eyes for the little buggers, make them! I had really wanted to have a go at making eyes, but couldn't begin to think about working on that small a scale. I found a tutorial using glass beads and printed irises and, well, it works! I still have some wrinkles to iron out, but it is very satisfying. Give it a go!

This is the tutorial I used as a basis. http://pgmsculpting.com/eye-tutorial/

And the result. Second pair, so not perfect, but definitely getting there.

    57. So I asked Dollshe about when he was shipping my Bermann because I was worried about him arriving while I was out of the country and he responded that the Bermanns was delayed because there was a problem with the silicone moulds. He's making a new set of moulds and said my Bermann will be ready in September. Here's hoping.
