I know there are quite a few like this but with yosd sized torsos... I'd love a MSD body that has a standard size torso but thicker legs. So less cartoony/exaggerated proportions
A doll that has resin that never yellows. If only!! Besides, that always wishing for dolls that pose so easily that it is a dream. Yes, some pose nicely but there’s always room for improvement, right?
If you are okay with something smaller I think soom has the mini gem line doll Auber which is a merman. For larger doll, capHook(ATStudio) is working on the prototype of Cetus. Its fantasy body has two legs and the feet are replaced by fish fins. According to his* weibo if the prototype is finalized it should be available around June. However despite the fact that she has an ins account, I am not sure how to order the doll outside China. Spoiler: nudity warning, fantasy body prototype. Also it might be possible to design and 3d print an exchangable fish tail for any large size doll you want. This way you can also have more choices over the face sculpt. -------------------------- * I am editing this post because previously I thought CapHook is a female sculpter but turns out that I was wrong. Also recently he is involved in another dispute over the similarities between his sculpts and several sculpts from Soom. Most discussions can be found on Chinese social media sites tieba and weibo. I am not trying to say if he is involved in plagiarism or not. Personally I think it is a strong word to use without official response from Soom. But since I mentioned his name here, I feel the responsibility to mention the controversy so that people can make their own judgements.
1/3 Lumedoll Rischa, realistic muscle female bodies, chubby 1/3 boys and more really adult male bodies 60-65 cm for now. Better noses (Chrom like)
I just have to write a little addition to my previous posting from 02/21/21. Besides 'Final Fantasy' I would also like to see some pretty characters from the 'Castlevania', 'Koei Warriors' game series (Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi) and 'Touken Ranbu' as BJD's. I have no idea whether there will ever be such a company cooperation. Even if they did, I still have to like the character and the look before I would actually buy some of them.
PLEASE more MSD-sized anime boys. Honestly, just more anime boys in general. I would give Volks my kidney for them to put the DD Boy base body up on their site, instead of having to go through the entire DC system via proxy just to get one.
Omokage from touken ranbu musou. Being a spin off only character the only way he’ll ever get a bjd is if someone custom makes one (aka me)
I wish Luts would release more fantasy-themed sculpts for their bigger sized dolls. Their MDF elf sculpts are so lovely!
I wish that dolls were a lot more posable? I know this isn’t specific but I wish that dolls were even more possible then they are now. Like as posable as a really flexible soft toy or something. I know that isn’t possible but I still wish!
I think this may be possible with a combination of an internal skeleton like vinyl dolls have and a soft unbroken exterior (Phicen action figures are like this I think?) but then they wouldn’t really be ball jointed dolls……
Thanks for the recommendation! Even if they aren’t bjds I still find them really cool and I’m going to check them up. Thanks!
I wish there were more sculpts based on the Marvel Squad to make the Avengers. Especially Tom Holland, he's so famous but I have seen just one casted resin head of him and that's not available anymore :/
A legit Undertaker doll from Black Butler. We got Grell, Sebastian, and several Ciel's. Give me Undertaker! Even if I do love my custom boy.
I'm going through this and it's like... Doll makers took notes on some of these ideas If that's the case... Fairyland, give us a Feeple Ante pls, I would love to see (and own) Ante all grown up after all these years
Maybe Lillycat SD Ellana would be somewhat up what you're looking for? She's slimmer than most dolls I've seen but does have pronounced hips, though she has a pronounced thigh gap in return (the thighs are still slim).
@dancingkitsune Funny I was just thinking about this the other day. We ended up choosing a slightly different look for the doll that needed this body and made her taller so we're sorted. Now that we changed plans, a body I really like for that style was released, the Fan Studio girl. Link Link Link
I would love to see more head sculpts with optional ear/horm parts, like LT Craft but with options like different kinds of ears, antlers, etc. Also I would love more sculpts that are in between ages, like older than most YoSD are depicted but younger than tween/teen looking MSD
Mature 1/6 dolls with fantasy parts (like soom or FL).. I would rebuy my whole collection tiny if I could. Oh and more mature boy faces in tiny and Minifee sizes..
I never thought of that now i want an SD size owl, dog, cat, and panda. I think a doll I want that doesn't exist would be an SD size doll that resembles a teddy bear. I think that would be cute. I want it to be able to open its belly, so I can stuff it with tiny bjds inside it like it ate them up.
Lol, I think my problem I tend to run into is wanting certain body types at certain heights. XD Like for example, I think one of Telethesia & Dragon's 75cm boys is rather fetching, but I would want him in 57-63cm (preferably 59). I don't want a 75cm doll. XD I also keep spotting heads that I initially think would be perfect for a YoSD I have in mind, but then they turn out to be for the "chubby" or "big baby" style MSD dolls instead. > If you have access to a 3d printer, there's some cat and dog BJD models out there that you could enlarge. I've gotten myself 1/6 scale cats, rabbits, and foxes this way. I haven't noticed any models for panda, owl, or chicken bjds though, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. (Although I think there's a chocobo...? I dunno; I don't follow FF.)
I would love to see more truly Asian sculpts in all different scales, preferably inspired by actors and singers. The doll I want the most right now is Souldoll Ricia because she's one of the only MSD sculpts that is completely Asian and is also affordable. If only Distant Memory sculpts were easier to find... XD
I love distant memory. I have some in my collection. You can occasionally find second hand on instagram for a good price. I love Asian looking sculpts too, but that is a broad term. Do you mean like East Asian, Southeast Asian, etc? I buy mainly from Korean companies or independent artists from Korea, so I feel like my dolls have a look that fits a more East Asian standard. However, it really depends on the company or artist. I tend to gravitate towards sharp eyes and high cheekbones look. I don't like overly big Disney sized eyes. Recently, I've been trying to diversify my collections of face sculpts. I've been really into larger lips these days and a broader nose because it's not in my collection yet. I've been having a hard time finding many sculpts like this. I found one from milkweed and honey bjds. It's the coda sculpt. I love the look and resin of that sculpt. It's perfect for a biracial character in my head i've been wanting to make into a doll. I want to create a half-asian half-African character.
I'm always super interested when I see them come up for sale. It's just so rare, especially these days.
A doll that looks exactly like my FFXIV character, haha. Or at least 1/3 dolls with dragon features (horns, tails).
Then I must have been lucky maybe a month or two ago I would see distant memory heads posted for resell often. I should have bought it then. I have I think maybe two bts sculpts not sure. They were a good price from what I recalled.
Specifically I'm looking for iconic Korean features, but honestly, I'd be happy with any Asian influence. I like the double eyelid or almond shaped eyes, high cheekbones, triangle nose. When I see a lot of the popular bjds (i.e. Iplehouse, Souldoll, Loongsoul, even Fairyland), a high percentage seem to look more Caucasian to me (especially Iplehouse). Now, I know all of these companies do have Asian sculpts, but often there will only be one in each line / size. Fairyland might be the main one that has more than one in each. I'm not loving overly stylized features these days either. I think a lot of Minifees, for instance, are super cute, but there's sooo many of them that have similar facial proportions (I was super excited that they started branching out some in the last couple years with their new sculpts). But one of the most iconically Korean MSDs I've found is Souldoll Ricia, and one of the reasons I love her so much is because she has smaller features than most Minifees. Also, Coda is stunninggg. I think Blasian features are such a cool cross between two iconic people groups, and I would love to see more of that diversity in this hobby.
Triangle nose? What's a triangle nose? What is considered Korean features? I'm actually Korean, but I still get confused what would be considered Korean features. But my sister and I get mistaken for a lot of different races. She has big eyes and round eyes while i have natural double eyelids and almond shaped eyes. My mom said our grandpa was born with double eyelids. Some koreans I think I heard have natural double eyelids. We have high cheek bones and are told we look very young. Oddly we have a higher nose bridge than normal. My aunt that I first met in korea kept asking if I got surgery because my eyelids and nose but no i was just born that way. I wish i was taller though. I was shocked at tall my cousins were in korea. I was really confused because it was my first time meeting her. She kept saying we were pretty which was weird because growing up in a pre-dominately white town we were told we were ugly on a regular basis which was confusing because people would say how beautiful our mom is. My mom has like I think 6 or 7 sisters and she looked for most different from them. Well one sister missing and one passed away, so I have no idea how they look. Anyway I would really like to know what a triangle nose is. Do most dolls have this nose? Yeah I noticed a lot of Korean dolls lean more looking caucasian mixed with what people consider Asian features. I've recently been wanting to get more dolls with concepts outside of East Asia. Most my dolls center around east Asian characters. I'm Korean-American (we are full korean. Some strange people think will ask if we have white parent because they say our features aren't "Asian" features.) by the way. I only Met my grandpa maybe once. He has big eyes and double eyelids. While my grandma I've never met was the opposite. Sadly I couldn't communicate well. I'm terrible at languages maybe it's my autism or the fact we weren't allowed to speak it at school and my parents were never around. Edit: another weird fact is our hair is unusually light it's like a brown red black color. I didn't notice my hair color but some people have pointed out our hair and asked why we curled our hair and dyed our hair. They assumed all koreans had the same hair. It's really weird, but if I put oil on my hair it looks black. I wish i had straight jet black hair, but no we have wavy hair that isn't a dark black. hmm maybe I will make a doll that looks similar to me one day. That's what I want I think I want a doll that looks like my sister and me. People like playing guessing games with my looks it ranges from mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Philippine, Korean, mixed, etc. I even saw a korean show forgot title where a korean was born with natural afro hair. It was very interesting. I only watched a little before I exited and forgot to save it. From what little I recall of my biological dad before divorce he has wavy hair and big eyes. He was actually our mom's stalker and he married her because she was so pretty. My mom has big round double eyelids eyes. My older brother completely takes after out grandma. He has smaller monlidded almond eyes, thick lips, high cheek bones, and a bigger flatter nose while my sister and I seem to take after our grandpa we have thinner higher nose and sharper. Sorry this is so long winded I can't focus because of my dogs. My point is a doll can be probably any race you want it to be because it's a blank slate. Not everyone from same race probably will have similar features just look at BTS V. Pretty much if the doll looks "caucasian" I still make it an Asian character. I haven't branched out to other races for my dolls because i can't find the right look i want for my dolls I've imagined and i don't want to accidentally offennd anyone somehow. If the doll has tan or pale or dark skin I might make it into an African American doll who knows i just need to find the right doll. None of them felt like the character besides Coda. I need to buy him. I love his sculpt and resin so much. Now to find more sculpts that feel like my doll characters. It's been hard to find. Ah I mixed it. I havent seen mu grandaprnets photo in years. My grandma has small almond monklidded eyes, thick lips, high cheekbones, and thin sharp nose. My grandpa has double lidded big round eyes, bigger flat short nose, and medium sized lips. My grandma had thin bone build and my grandpa had a thicker build. She had a delicate Petite look.
I love all Korean features, I think you guys are so beautiful regardless of what features you have. XD Here's a photo I made to show the triangle nose, featuring Souldoll Ricia which is one of the few bjds I've ever found that has it. So the two photos on the left kind of show what I'm talking about. It's actually a little more like a pyramid, with a triangle footprint on the face, and then also the triangle when viewed from the side. It's a trait I've noticed in some Koreans, not very many, but that I find attractive. Anyway, I digress from the topic. I would just love to see more bjds with more diversity because they're so hard to find. XD
Interesting. I never noticed much about noses. I just usually get sharp noses because most of my dolls are males. Well that odd my sister, grandma, and my nose is like that. I thought that was just a normal nose. I actually don't like my nose though. I never looked that closely at my nose because I don't like it. I avoid looking at my face. I find myself very ugly. It could be from childhood the feeling of ugliness so that's why one reason I love dolls they are so beautiful. I had to look at a photo of myself (yuck) to see how my nose looked. I avoid looking at myself as much as possible unlike dolls I look at often admiring their beauty. Edit: oops i got off topic again. I forgot what the thread was about. I slipped and banged my head into the wall again. I'm always falling luckily we don't have stairs in our new place. I fell once because I somehow slipped on a piece of paper on the floor. I have no idea how I did that. I can fall up or down the stairs. I can even fall while walking slowly because my brain feels like it's hipccuping and my feet get confused and get somehow tangled.
I want a draft horse centaur! They’re beautiful. And more centaurs in general, especially with wings. @Forever We Are Young Please don’t take this the wrong way, but maybe you should see a doctor if you’re able. If I understand your post correctly, you’re forgetting after hitting your head? Forgetting and balance/coordination issues can be a sign of a concussion. Even if it’s not from that, balance problems can be a sign of ear issues. Physical therapy can help fix current issues and prevent future ones. Sorry if I’m overstepping. (Disclaimer- I’m not a doctor)
D.Lace dolls that were never produced because preorders failed. The artist is amazing and niche with a focus on scifi fantastical, leonardo da vinci art looks, and religious based dolls. But, they're relatively unknown with looong production times.
I so badly want a sphinx bjd! I know dream valley did a sort of "sphinx" centaur 1/6 but I mean full-size 1/4-1/3 Egyptian or Greek sphinx. I know the logistics of molding the body would be hard but it's just such a great mythical creature. Or even an SD doll inspired by the sphinx-like features or hybrid body style. I want her so bad!
@BarefootWarrior Someone in a FB group I belong to is doing a passion project to make a sphinx doll. They're only doing this for themselves and not finished yet but so far it looks pretty cool. I believe it's about large MSD in size and the lion body has short fur on it (I think... or maybe they've done it like flocking?).
I'd kill for a medium-sized mature naga/snake doll with accurate anatomy. I'm... way too picky about snake anatomy with naga dolls, so despite the ones already existing out there, none fit my taste. Also extremely specific enough that it'll probably never get made, but a snow leopard sphynx/centaur style doll. I just love how fluffy they are.
I would love a SD10 Elf boy that is slim like my girl who is an Dollstown Elf body Luna. Has to be like 60 CM tall and be slender with some muscle tone and have a 8 inch head. Oh and nice big eyes like 14mm.
Kind of a niche thing, but—I'd love an Andalite bjd. A blue, centaur-like alien species/race from the Animorphs book series—body a hybrid of horse and deer, a long, flexible tail with a scythe-like blade at it's tip, a mouthless face with almond-shaped eyes, nasal slits and stalk-like protrusions off the top of the head with extra eyes perched at their ends, and a delicate, humanoid upper-body with six flexible digits (fingers). I've been a fan of the books since I was a kid, and have yearned to have some sort of figure based on an Andalite pretty much since then. for a less-niche thing—an SD-scale winged cat with intricately posing bird-like wings. It would be especially fascinating if these winged kitties came in a variety of breeds and body/hair types—from your basic domestic shorthair to longhaired Ragdolls, Persians, and Maine Coons.
Volks has been making Disney princess dolls, but I want the villains! Specifically, I want Maleficent (probably obvious), and I want Ursula! Curvy, plus-sized octopus body! Dream Valley or Resinsoul purple and black resin.
Have you seen Dream Valley Moon? I don’t think they’re exactly what you’re after, but they might be close enough. Moon was limited but Denver Doll has a few in stock still.
I dream of a doll made of pink and blue resin looking like vitiligo in SD size, but with with wide hips and waist and very small breasts. I have the impression that very often dolls with big hips have very small waists or very big breasts.
I actually have DV Moon Spoiler: DV Moon below the cut I am thinking of something that's different: wings with higher poseability, body plan similar to the Iplehouse cats (or the OT EveStudio cats), and maybe twice the size of DV Moon—or even larger
@jade-eyed-cat - ah, I think I have an idea of what you're looking for. I can tell you from 3D-printing experience that printing resin wings is difficult. Really freaking difficult. I tried the thin, delicate look - and the feathers snapped off when I touched them. I thickened the wings, and they were too heavy for the doll. I own Dream Valley Cecilia Elf doll. She has articulated, solid resin wings. The wings are so heavy that the only way to get the doll to stand on her own is to have her hunched over - and even then, I can get her to stand for maybe 5-10 seconds before she topples. Also - stringing them was a nightmare and a half. That is definitely an engineering puzzle someone much smarter than me is gonna have to figure out. I'm going to stick with gluing feathers onto cardboard, lol. Did you see that Dollmore sells kinetic wings and a kinetic wing base?
Dolls that I want that don't exist.... Almost every single one of my OCs, my favorite characters from movies and video games, the list goes on. I have no chill and have gigantic expectations that will probably never be met in my lifetime. Even dolls aren't safe from that, lol.
I would love a 1/4 scale muscular dwarf, muscular orc, and tiefling with a tail and hooves on digitigrade legs, with interchangeable horns. Fingers crossed for someone else making it, but I want them enough that I would try to learn 3D modeling to make them myself (I say confidently, with no experience, lol).
Omg, I had a dream a few days back about owning dolls that were old men with big round bellies and huge muscles, mini height. and I am still wishing they were real, my little buff Santas were so stinking cute They were vinyl dolls in the dream, but resin bjds would be even better. I am debating to make them, but I'd prefer it if they just manifested for me
Huli did some muscular Dwarf dolls not that long ago and I think they're in the 45-50cm range. Bonelace did a female Orc but I think she was SD in size. JJ Doll Lab also did an Orc girl and I think she was MSD size but I think there were also some issues with dolls not being delivered? ResinSoul does a hooved body in MSD size (male and female) that has digitgrade legs and their red resin is beautiful (I have a red Pixiu from RS). I have the male version (Ming) and it's very nice. A tail is easy enough to make, too.
I would definitely like to at some point own any bodybuilder/superhero male dolls. I think I remember at some point someone had begun the sculpting and creation of a muscular doll with hulk-like proportions and I wish I could find that artist again. To be fair with my limited knowledge of EVERY doll that exists maybe these do exist out there and if so I'd like to put them on my radar for the future.
Oooh, this is awesome info, thank you for sharing!! I do love seeing orc girls, but I would want a beefy man orc to shell my husband's hunky D&D character
@FiresChoirs I believe that Granado has a body builder/superhero sculpt which I think is still available and he's a HUGE hunk of resin. To the best of my knowledge, Dollshe did a superhero sculpt but I don't think many were actually made/purchased. I remember seeing owner shots of one but I can't remember if it was here or on a FB group I belong to. And with the current Dollshe situation and subsequent banning, I highly doubt it would be an option for you.
Yeah Dollshe unfortunately won't be an option unless someone somehow got a hold of the superhero body and is willing to part ways with it. Granado is interesting though because I actually didn't think they made resin dolls because I only heard of the vindoll line, but it makes sense they would also have resin dolls too. I actually really like the bodies I see available. The Titan although a bit slimmer than I was imagining would make for a very interesting shell. Thanks for letting me know!
@FiresChoirs I tend to notice the unusual dolls because that is my jam, lol. I have 2 Granado boys (resin) and they area bit off the typical resin path in that one is a 53Lucifer (53cm) in syringa from when they did a crowdfund for that size and the other is a 15Lucent (15cm) in WS from the first release.
Just going to drop this out into the universe, because you never know.... lol A doll I want that doesn't exist would be Fairyland's discontinued Eliya sculpt... but in F60 size. Elf ears and all. The 'buy' button wouldn't know what hit it.
