Just curious, what do you think about the ballet body so far?

I've been wondering for a log time whether or not I should get my ballet Zinna a Judith body instead.

 

I think the body is quite pretty. I especially love her hands. But the legs are a bit kicky and unruly. It takes a bit of effort to get them under control for a pose.

 

My ballet Zinna was relatively easy to pose when she arrived last July. Now she won't take any sort of ballet position. She's easier to pose if she is undressed, but you can't very well ask her to hold a pose while you get her clothes on, can you? Sometimes I wonder if I've twisted her strings somehow.

 

It's a nice body for what it is designed for. But I'm not so sure anymore if it is my kinda BJD body. If I do end up getting a Judith body for her oneday, it's because I want her to be a teen character and not a kid!

 

For what it's worth, I love the Judith bodies. I have 3 Judith girls and am awaiting a Dollpire KID Roo who is on the Judith body. The only downside is the lack of clothing for them. You get the fullset and that's it.

 

I know, they are awesome I also do want a Judith girl and not just one on a kid body.

Does slim MSD clothes fit?

The Roo sculpt will look great on a Judith body. It looks like it could just as well have been a Judith face sculpt. I must see see your Dollpire Judith Roo when you get her. She sounds real cool!

 

Dollmore is taking its sweet time delivering my dolls this time around. My previous orders all arrived within 4-5 weeks. I ordered Dollpire Roo on January 25 and I'm still waiting. I assume the delay is because I ordered a Zaoll Luv a week later. Hopefully they will arrive together. I'll be sure to post Roo here as well as on the Judith thread.

I've been able to get some slim MSD clothes on my Zinnas. Some Iplehouse JID clothes fit, too. The problem is that the body is slim but the chest is quite large, so slim MSD clothes need to have some stretch. If you sew, it's not as much of a problem.

 

I got a Calvin head! I did the event for a free random head and it arrived today. I'm pretty happy, I have always been intrigued by Calvin, but it was discontinued before I had groups of dolls that weren't so planned out within an inch of their lives. Now I just have to figure out what body to put her on....I don't have any DMK hybrids!

 

Congrats @VampireAngel13 ! Can't wait to see her. I got into Dollmore after they discontinued dolls, so I don't even know what Calvin looks like. I almost did the event, but in the end I figured I didn't need another floating head that would only beg me for a body.

 

Thanks!! Calvin is one of their oldest molds - not really even recognizable as Dollmore IMO, but she's interesting. And lol I SO did not need another floating head (so I'll be looking for a super-cheap body for her) but needed a lot of weird, random things that were more than 100, so I went for it. I'm really happy with the one I got (really, I'd have been happy with anything other than a YO sized head), she's going to be Supergirl. Probably. I have yet to put her with my other dolls so that might change....

 

I was wondering how they decided which head to send. It's one thing if they send a head that goes on bodies you've already purchased from them. It's something else entirely if they send a head for a size you don't collect.

Supergirl sounds like fun. I hope you go with that concept.

Yeah, I had no idea either. I literally bought a bunch of socks, so much string I may never have to buy string again. Or at least for a year or so XD, a Model doll shirt, one pair of underwear and an eye patch, nothing for MSD size.....so the order itself had nothing to do with it. I'm lucky that I do collect most sizes, but my YOs are mostly chibified adults or inhuman things, I only have one human child and I want to keep it that way lol Dollmore's Dear Dolls are adorable, but too human looking for me.

I think they're just trying to get some of their random and old stock out. I know they keep or at least kept some heads laying around. When I ordered Miso she was shipped the next day....when I asked them if they had any Ujee's left they had one and only one because they put that sale up for me and when I ordered it was removed again, so it's possible most of them will be single heads left. Which is kind of cool, especially if you're into the older, long-gone molds.

And if that's the case I almost want to order again XD ALL THE OLD DOLLS!!

 

@VampireAngel13 I just found on Dollmore's site under Heads and Parts that you can order a Kid head by itself. Both Calvin and U-jee are on the list. The giveaway was a pretty good deal, because they're asking $72.07 for a blank Kid head. Makeup adds $60 (or $80 for custom).

For real! You're so lucky I love both U-Jee and Calvin. If Dollmore ever re-release them I think I would end up with both!

Did see an U-Jee boy for sale on the MP, but I'm planning on getting a Vian next. Her outfit just arrived at the post office.

I've been wanting a tanned Dollmore Kid for quite a while now so I'm really struggling with choosing between a tanned or ns Vian. And should I go for a boy or a girl

 

My Dollpire Roo has shipped! It would be so cool if she arrived in time for my doll meet-up on Saturday. Fingers crossed.

She comes with a whole lot of outfit! It was very fiddly to put on and I'm not sure I've got things in the right order. She won't be wearing it all the time--I'm afraid all that black will stain her body. I ordered the blonde mohair wig separately because Dollmore said she would come with the black wig. Even so, she's hard to photograph. The camera sees a black hole and tries to fill it with light.

 

Dollmore does come up with some far out names! Many of my full sets refuse to even try on their outfits!

But she is lovely! I like the blonde wig on her!

 

Thanks, @nancy_schroeder_ca ! Well, Roo wore her full set to a doll meet-up and then she came home and took it off. I think now we'll save it for Halloween.

Dollmore included a gift clothing set. It's a princess outfit that I would have liked to put on her except her left hand won't go through the narrow part of the sleeve. The regular kid body must have smaller hands.

Anyone who knows about any good resin matches for Dollmore normal skin?

Once I get the chance to I'll be ordering a Vian girl. But I think I might want to go for a more mature body.

 

I can tell you a few companies whose normal resin DOESN'T match: Iplehouse, Raccoondoll, FairyLand, Luts.
Dollmore normal is whiter than all of them.

I was hoping I could find a girl body that is more similar to the KDF Romantic body.

I am unsure if I want to make her part of my little Dollmore Kid crew. I think I'd like to make her part of a mixed family. I haven't figured everything out yet. But I know that I want her. The memories of my old Vian makes me miss her.

Yes I have been thinking about a Judith body if I can't find anything else. I guess It's better than nothing!

 

The Judith body was the first thought that occurred to me, too, until I remembered that Dollmore doesn't sell the Judith body by itself. They're all released as full sets, unless you find one on the marketplace where someone kept the head and is selling the body.

 

Sometimes Dollmore will list parts if asked. They might even sell the head you want on the Judith body. It's worth asking if you decide that is the body you want.

 

Aria got a change of wigs, and I am just in love with her now.

I could buy a full set Judith doll and a Vian head. But I'm also wondering now if I should just go for the kid body and add a pair of heel feets.

She'll be the next doll I plan on ordering. But right now I'm still on a break from any orders. I don't know for how long but I feel I need to so I can get som rest. I don't feel so good about my hobby right now. I feel tired and energy drained. It feels better though to just take it easy and not stress about any orders.

That would have been great if they could I guess it's worth asking!

It's been months since I gave my Dollmore Pado the attention he deserves. I snapped a quick photo of him this morning---poor guy needs new clothes.

@PeppermintPocky Your Pado is a cutie. Did you paint his tattoos?
Shiloh's clothes were the height of fashion at the time he became a vampire. He sees no reason to change with the passing centuries. (That's as good an excuse as any for why I haven't bought him more clothes.)

@manabusama Thanks! The last Judith I tried that dress on didn't look as good in it. The dress is transparent and the doll was a Suntan Zinna.

 

I can compare my boy to other batches of NS I own, but I don't know how helpful it would be since he is from 2010.

And thank you. I did not paint Owen's tattoos (they are actually nail decals---I cut most of the transparent edges off, heh). My goal is to eventually paint them so they can be "permanent." Someday, someday.

I did make/craft him a watch yesterday, though!

Actually, the band is from a pair of shoes I bought for one of my other dolls. I wasn't interested in using the straps around those boots, so I removed the bows then resized them to fit Owen's wrist. The face of the watch is actually a button I painted while the hands, numbers, etc. were printed from a computer.

I hate wasting stuff so I always try to reuse the spare pieces from the sets I buy. I'm going to turn the other boot strap into a collar for my catboy (Xagadoll May).

Thanks that would be great I really love the sculpt but my wish list haven't made it possible to squeeze one in so far. I have been looking many many times at all the different Pado types. But only the future can tell whether or not I'll be getting one.

I understand where you're coming from. I had the Pado sculpt on my wishlist for six years before I actually bought one---I kept getting distracted by other dolls. I hope someday you'll be able to squeeze one into your collection!

Love your Louie! Did Dollmore change his colors? His outfit and makeup look gray online. Either way, I like it!

 

Couldn't find anything about this... well, not much about Dollmore period. I love a lot of their sculpts but I'm not so fond of their bodies (I'm a picky poser what I can I say). However, from what I've been seeing their heads are *huge* in comparison to the usual MSD heads. For example a large MSD head seems to range around 16 cm or so and down to 13 cm for a more "normal" look. Most of the Dollmore's are 19+! The only similar one is Bimong Dandelion whose head is 19 cm.

Does this mean they will be seriously bobbleheaded if you try to hybrid? Am I doomed to admire their faces from afar and never purchase one because I like my MSD's with mature bodies and extra joints?

 

Hi there.

I have a Dollmore Pado, and his head looks on par with all my other minis (full list in profile, if you'd like a comparison). Honestly, I know of very few 1/4 scale heads that are smaller than 16cm unless they are fashion-sized----in my experience, most usually fall between 16cm and 19cm. For instance, my Dream of Doll DOC Petsha (smallest 1/4 head I own) has a 16.5cm circumference, and my Bambicrony Brava Bambi Nia is on the larger-end with a 19cm head. My Dollmore Kid Pado is between those two with a 18.7cm head. Some LUTS Kid Delf sculpts have 19cm heads, too, along with some dolls from Angel Fantasy, Volks, etc.

Wig-wise, most 1/4 BJDs use 7-8" wigs, although slimmer minis like Unoa use 6-7" (again, this doesn't include the fashion dolls like Fairyland Chic Line or the 'Big Babies' like DearSD).

I'm sure there are hybrid possibilities out there. Is there a certain body you're considering? If I own it, I'd be happy to pop my Pado head on it for a photo. I'd also be happy to take photos of my Dollmore Pado next to any of my other dolls, if you want to see how he looks next to other minis. Just let me know the sculpts you'd want in the picture!

Thought I might post this here, as it might be of help to anyone who - like me - isn't a great fan of the dollmore bodies. My biggest issues are with the hands and legs. They've always seemed somewhat akward to me: I don't like the aesthetics of them, and find the legs difficult to pose well, and unstable.
So, a while ago I decided to try a pair of Planetdoll 41cm doll hands (normal skin) and Impldoll Young (46cm) legs (pink skin) for my DM boy body, and I'm really happy with the final result!

QUESTION: Anyone know if pants made for Tonner's Matt O'Neil would fit Dollmore Kid boys?? I found the set of my dreams for Owen, but I want to make sure he could wear the shorts because they are my favorite part.

It may depend on the style. I have the "on the court" set and the shorts fit almost anyone!

Those are cute! I would find it hard to decide on a color, too. It's so much simpler when there's little choice.

 

Great shoes! I was thinking of plain old canvas hightops, but those high-tech shoes look super! Color is quite a choice though! Maybe he needs several pairs!
