Dollmore Kid discussion part 3

Aug 18, 2011

1. Ugh, I have not been online much in the last month - work is killing me - but I wanted to finally share. A couple weeks ago I totally impulse bought a new DMK secondhand! It's a Dollpire Grammy! She's in WS and omg you guys, she's so gorgeous! I will admit to never really looking at Grammy before but I have always wanted a Dollpire and I am a sucker for DM WS so I agreed to give her a new home. So happy I did. I can't decide if I want to make her a girl or boy or just genderless (since I feel like the girl body can go either way lol) but for right now she's in her default dress and a crazy wig I picked out for her and is just so freaking pretty. I wish I had time for photos....I need to drag her outside, she looks like a ghost and I think in a darker, outdoor setting she'd be amazing.

3 DMKs is the most I've ever owned at once! My Ujee got his new body eariler this year - he's a real boy now XD and has the ballet hands to go with his fabulous self...and my poor neglected Pado got new clothes. Which he will probably be wearing for the next 6 months. I should work on getting him new eyes.

2. I understand you! Dollmore kids are awesome :3nodding:

I also have three of them but I've always wanted a suntan girl or boy, so now I'm trying to figure out if or not to get a Suntan Rafel girl in the future.

3. I just recently adopted a Dollmore Dollpire Ash Pathos Shiloh, full set! She is gorgeous and my first vampire. :)

4. Hello! I'm new to the thread. My Pirouette Zinna ballerina has just shipped--with any luck I'll have her by the weekend!

I have a question for other Pirouette owners: Does her wig come already styled? Dollmore shows her with two braided buns on either side of her head, but the wig is identified as the Ann hair style, which is simply two long braids. I am possibly the world's worst doll hair stylist. If I have to twist the braids into buns, she's going to look a mess. This is my first Dollmore doll, so I'm not sure what to expect.

5. I don't have the wig anymore. But if I remember it correctly, it is just two braids!

6. Thanks for the info, manabusama. I guess that means I'll have to style it myself. :shudder Or buy one I don't have to style.

7. Haha good luck with that  I'm not very good at styling either :sweat

8. Does anyone have a Dollstown 7yr?? I'm looking to see if a DMK head will fit on a DT7 body...just a side by side would work too, if no one wants to attempt a head-switch.

9. I'll try and take pictures of Pado on a Dollstown 7r body for you tomorrow. :)

This hybrid might look a bit pinheaded though, Pado is a pretty small sculpt, even among DMK heads. I can add a Vian on a DT7 body as well, to give an idea of the size difference for anyone interested in that.

10. Wolfboy that would be so wonderful!! I figured he'd be pinheaded...but it's one of those things I really wanted to see for myself before giving up on the idea. I really love the DT7 body!

I wouldn't mind seeing Vian either - i have a Grammy too...her head is much bigger than the other DMKs I own (which I guess is only two XD Pado and Ujee). She might work on a larger body.

11. Here goes:

by Wolfboy141, on Flickr
More pictures on my Flickr, and all posted in the Dollstown Resin Comparison thread, including some extra info.

A bit pinheaded for me at first, but I'm actually warming to this hybrid option now! I'd say you might actually have a winner here!
Well, for a boy anyway. For me, I'm not so sure the proportions work as well for a girl with this particular sculpt.
Haven't put the larger Vian head on this body (esp. to see if that might perhaps work better for a girl in this regard) yet, ran out of energy for now, but could still do so tomorrow.:)

12. My Ballet Kid Pirouette Zinna has arrived! So far I haven't made much headway in getting her to pose. I tried a couple of poses before dressing her and she moved nicely into position. Once she was dressed and I could no longer see what I was doing, it became more difficult. Her panties got sucked into her hip joints--I thought I'd have to rip them apart to get them out. Obviously there is a learning curve here. I'll have to spend some time getting to know her.

She is wearing a LeekeWorld wig temporarily while I try to style her default wig. Although turning braids into buns is not my forte, I have an idea that I think might work.

I'm posting her box opening to my blog on Sunday. The link is below my signature. For now, here's a pic:

13. My first vampire shipped today. I'm waiting for Dollpire Kid (boy) Shiloh. He'll arrive just in time for my doll group's Halloween meet-up!:dance

14. vermont chick, that's great! can't wait to see him :)

I love your Zinna :3nodding:

15. I love your Zinna, too, manabusama. She looks great with the wings. I would have preferred Zinna in white but she was sold out when I ordered mine. I've repainted my girl's face since the above pic was posted.

My Dollpire Kid Shiloh boy arrived today. I have already posted his box opening: http://denofangels.com/threads/dollpire-shiloh-boy-my-first-vampire.690788/ He's so cute! Love his long fingernails. Here is a pic:

16. Hello Dollmore Kid owners. :)

I was given the chance to buy a Pado off of an awesome fellow DOA member and I'm very excited. I've had the sculpt on my wishlist for over five years!

Anyway, to help me maintain my sanity while I wait could I please request Pado (boy or girl) spam? Thank you and I look forward to officially joining this thread soon.

PS: Your Shiloh looks great, @vermont chick! I had no idea the Dollpires have long nails. Very cool. :thumbup

17. Congrats, vermont chick (such a cute boy you have ) and Peppermint Pocky! I have 2 dolls, a ballerina and my amazingly beautiful Dollpire Grammy. Here she is in her hat for Halloween:

18. Thanks, PeppermintPocky. Not only long nails, but also cute little bat ears. Unfortunately you can't see them with most wigs.
Congrats on finding a Pado to adopt. Which version is he?

Love your Grammy, periwinklestars! I had a hard time deciding between Shiloh and Grammy. The reason I didn't choose Grammy is because I couldn't decide between the black or white glass.

19. Thank you, @periwinklestars! And wow, I love those fangs on Grammy. Not enough 1/4 vampires in the BJD world, as far as I'm concerned.

Those ears really are cute, @vermont chick. :XD: I love elf/bat/long ears.

The Pado I bought is the NS standard, open-eyed version. :D

20. vermont chick, thank you! I know what you mean about choosing. I love the black slide boy - wish I had more doll money!

PeppermintPocky, thanks! Yes, you are right - not many 1/4 sized vamps out there. Peak's Woods does currently have some - they are really cute :) I seem to be drawn to vampire dolls, but they have to be beautiful, not scary. LOL. I also love other fantasy type dolls too, but I have a hard time resisting the vamps.

21. Can't wait to see your Pado, PeppermintPocky.

I'm with you and periwinklestars on the 1/4 vampires. Not everyone wants--or needs--a huge, menacing 70cm vampire.

22. Just rec'd my tracking number! My Pado is currently scheduled to be delivered next Wednesday. :celebrate

I love the Peak's Woods FOB vamps. I was hoping to buy a KoonieS in blue-grey skin, but once it was announced that layaways were capped at three months I had to back away (sadly). Maybe someday.

Thank you! And yes, 70cm vampires = very intimidating to me. Actually, 70cms in general intimidate me. I tried the 1/3 size a few years back and as beautiful as they all were I caught myself wishing the sculpts were 1/4 size. I dunno if it's my lack of space or not.

23. Yay for a Wednesday delivery!

I've been phasing out my larger dolls. I'll keep a few because I love them, but lack of space plus my inability to re-string the big ones are working against me. I have a hard enough time re-stringing the minis.

24. When I owned big dolls I never tried restringing them. I imagine that would've ended poorly. :sweat

Recently I acquired a pair of hemostats, and boy, was I surprised at how much they help with restringing my minis! :thumbup

25. I swear by hemostats, too. Also a metal crochet hook and a length of grosgrain ribbon. What I really need, though, is a third hand. (And wouldn't I look silly if I had one!:XD:)

26. No tracking updates on my Pado since Wednesday. In order to keep me from getting antsy I'm trying to track down a pair of shoes. Am I right to assume Dollmore Kids wear wider shoes, like Kid Delfs? (As opposed to smaller shoes, like those worn by MNF.)

A third hand would be totally useful (but I hear ya on how silly that would look). I always feel like I'm getting ready to perform resin surgery when I whip out my hemostats.

27. PeppermintPocky, yes, the shoes are quite a bit larger than MNFs wear. The Dollmore Kid shoes also fit my Kaye Wiggs MSD doll, which is a bonus.

I'm with you on the extra hands. Sometimes I have to ask a friend to come help me. LOL

28. Thanks for the confirmation, @periwinklestars! I thought that was the case. In addition to searching for shoes, I'm also crafting some jewelry for incoming!Pado to help keep me from stalking the USPS website. :XD:

29. My Dollmore Pado arrived yesterday so I can finally add to this thread's photo spam. I love the sculpt's pout---it slays me. :XD:

More box opening photos here.

30. Congratulations, PeppermintPocky! I can't wait to see him when he's dressed and styled.

31. Thank you, @vermont chick! I'll be sure to share more photos soon. :D

32. Question: Anyone else have issues restringing their Dollmore Kid? I'm trying to tighten my Pado but the torso joint keeps slouching. I typically don't have this issue. I'm wondering if it's the size string I'm using... hmm...

Anyway, any and all help would be appreciated. :)

33. Congratulations on the arrival of your cute boy!
As for his stringinging problem: my Pado had the same thing, while my Vian didn't. I found out that in Pado's case, only one of the loops from his legs was pulled up through the neck.
By pulling up the second loop through his torso and neck as well, he didn't slouch like that anymore. Hope this helps.:)

34. Thank you for the congrats and tip, @Wolfboy! Hopefully that's what happened with my Pado, too, because it sounds like an easy fix. :thumbup

35. [IMG]
Happy Halloween!

36. What an awesome halloween photo! He looks absolutely amazing!:)

37. Thanks! His shirt doesn't actually say "Boo!" I added that using PhotoShop.;) Both the outfit and the eyes were free gifts with Dollmore purchases.

38. Pado pouting is adorable PeppermintPocky :)
Perfect Halloween pic Vermont Chick!
I love Olsya Gavr face ups Vikulya_8686 - she looks so real!
My Heizle has been relaxing before her trip to the spa - I was surprised that a RosenLied Holiday Child dress fit her so well.

39. I think my Dollpire Shiloh may need kips in his hips. His legs flop all over the place. Above the waist he poses (and holds a pose) easily. My question is: what size kips do I need? I notice they're sold in different sizes.

@bajib Thank you! Shiloh loves Halloween. I like your Heizle. Is she getting a new face-up? Very cute dress.

I also love Olesya Gavr's face-up work. She did a good job on your Sona @vikulya_8686.

40. Vikulya_8686, I love your Sona! Sona is one of my all time favorite sculpts and yours is a real beauty.:)

bajib, Heizle is such a cutie!:D I'm very surprised that the Holiday Child dress fits her and she looks so adorable in it too.

41. Wow! beautiful work!
Thank you! Yes, Olesya Gavr a great master of make-up.

Thank you! Yes, I love her work. And Sona, only one of her works in my house. Also, there are others of her work in my house.

oh, Thank You! This great work of Dollmore and make up by Olesya Gavr.:)

42. Your girl is adorable, @bajib. That nose of hers = too cute. :XD:

My Pado is floppy no matter what I do, too, so you're not alone, @vermont chick. I can't help you with the kips, though---hopefully someone else here will know the answer.

43. Thanks PeppermintPocky. No suggestions or recommendations yet. Either people are enduring floppy Kids or else they are using a different method, like hot glue sueding. I'm leery of hot glue myself. I have visions of hot gluing my hands to the doll. I'd like to try the kips but I'm not sure how to measure for them. Is it the circumference of the inside thigh joint, the diameter, or the radius? Guess I'll have to do some online research. (Or glue myself to the doll.)

44. I got lucky with Heizle - she stands pretty good with a little tendency to turn her legs out at the hips. I was thinking about a spot of something for that and remembered someone sometime recomended getting silicone baking sheets and cutting them up for custom kips, but a doll from a different company, known to be terrible posers, came from original owner with little pieces of nexcare (?) tape stuck up in the joints and it stood and held poses great. The tape has the advantage of being flesh colored so it doesn't show much, and easy to move around to get it in the right spot --- and best of all ---- no burns! I am awful with glue guns, so I'm thinking Heizle will get some tape in her hips and I'll let you know if it works. Her head is leaving for new face up so I'll need lots of pics to get me through the wait ;) I have spent more time playing with her than I have any doll for a long time ---

Your sweaters are gorgeous vikulya! all those cables are impressive!

45. @bajib Nexcare waterproof bandages? I have a package in my medicine cabinet. There's a small flesh colored section in the center surrounded by clear tape. It's not supposed to be movable once you stick it down. If you pull it up the tape part no longer sticks, but maybe that only holds true for human skin and not for resin. I'll certainly give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Who is doing Heizle's new face-up?

46. what I have is on a roll and it is spongy and peals off easily without residue and repositions. I t says ' Nexcare first aid tape' on the inside of the roll. I think I got it at Wal-Mart to hold head caps on and then found out it is supposed to work for sueding.

I'm sending Heizle to AngelToast. I was surprised to be able to get her in this month. I'm pretty excited.

47. It looks like Nexcare makes more than one product. I'll have to look for the tape when I go shopping.

You were so lucky to get a slot with AngelToast! I can't wait to see her all finished.

48. Thank you very much!

49. Hello, KID owners :D I was wondering if any of you have made dollmore kid hybrids? I'd love to know about proportions and resin matches, if you have. :)

50. I'm guessing you mean hybrids with dolls from other companies, but have you noticed that Dollmore has a couple of hybrids with other Dollmore lines? There are Ballerina Kids with Kid heads and upper bodies, along with special ballet legs, feet and hands. There is also a Dollpire Kid with a normal Kid Roo head on Dollmore's Judith body. I have this one on order and am wondering where to discuss her after she arrives. With that voluptuous body, she's not really a Kid, despite the Kid head. I think I'll have to consider her a Judith.

As far as resin matches go, Dollmore's normal skin is paler than Iplehouse normal, Raccoon Doll normal and FairyLand natural. Luts normal skin is closer, but my one Luts doll is a year older than my Dollmore and may have yellowed a tiny bit. I don't have a Luts Kid Delf so I don't know about proportions. I also don't know if any of the white resins from these companies match or not.

51. I know someone who has their DOC Zen head on a Dollmore Kid body. They are quite pleased with the result (I think it looks great, too!).

You can see photos here. Hope this helps. :daisy

52. The new limited Memorial Box Dollmore Kid girls are so beautiful<3 Especially Grammy!

53. My Dollmore order is on its way! Ballet Sona and Alexia! <3 My Narsha (Madeline) will be very happy to have more big sisters <3

54. @manabusama They totally are! I think Heizle is my favorite though :) How I wish there were more user photos of her sculpt!

55. Heizle is also very beautiful :) Yes too bad it's not much to find of owner pictures. Not my favorite bjd body but I don't mind the Dollmore bodies that much either. But I wonder if the (Dollmore) bodies could get a renewal, more people would have liked them?

Would have been so cool to have a set. One girl in blue and the other girl in red. I can totally see myself getting Grammy and Chloe! But I have to be careful with which dolls I add to my collection. I try my best to only order dolls that are supposed to be a part of a planned bjd family I have. They have to have a meaning other than finding them very beautiful.

Can be pretty hard sometimes especially with the Dollmore Kids. It's very tempting to get Grammy and Chloe but I can't. I like them so much but I don't have the money for them anyway :sweat

56. I've decided that I will be getting a new Vian girl after all. Better to just get it done since I always end up regretting selling my old Vian. But this time she'll be a spring creature (I think...) and not a snow demon :) I've started planning her character and looking for hair styles and outfits, so it's decided! It will be in my plans for 2016.

I'm excited already :3nodding:

I know I've postet this picture before, but it's one of the best pictures I have of my old Vian. And I don't have many. I can't even remember her name :sweat
