Dollmore - Illua Doll Discussion Thread - Part 1

Jul 22, 2016

    1. I really like the proportions that head has with that body. I recently got a big lusion and now my Isabella looks so small in comparison!

    2. Hi everyone, sorry I disappeared for a bit... I was moving across the country, and my dollies were all packed up:atremblin so I couldn't play with them or take pictures...

@loveusps it seems you already got your answer about the seem lines, sorry I went MIA! I can provide pics if anyone wants... But my seem lines are pretty similar to the pics @ker246 provided ;)

Also, my gf ordered a Renoir blue coat dahlia, and has a few pics of her up in different clothing (mostly volks sd clothes) and wigs (btw, she reports that msd volks wigs fit really well!) on instagram... look under the hashtag dollmoreilluadoll on ig. I'll ask her if I can post some of the other pics she sent to me here as well!

Otherwise hope everyone has been well! Here is my girl in a simple dress and socks I made... And bonus comparison with volks msd :whee:
P.s. let me know if that pic comes out too big, I've had to find a new method of getting the links from Flickr *_*

    3. Also, @AlmySidaKay love your comparison pic, is that lusion alice? And your illua's saddle shoes are to die for :love do you mind sharing where you got them?

    4. Yes she's an Alice. :D Second... I wish I could I got them at a doll meet ages ago for almost nothing if I remember correctly because they were so chunky for being like SD boy shoes. I'm sorry I can't help more than that on those. >.<

    5. Which Lusion sculpts and clothes would you like to see in Illua doll size? It's going to be a while before I buy another doll but, I'd like to see a mini Elenoir and a Royal Floraison outfit.

      • x 1
    6. hello! I just ordered a chocolat blanc Dahlia! does anyone have clothing suggestions that would fit her? :)

      • x 1
    7. The illua doll's hands seem a little big so I'm wondering how difficult it is to fit clothes over her hands. Do you ever need to take them off to put clothes on?

    8. @Allie27 I have a few blouses from volks that fit my illua girl... the one's with snaps on the sleeves fit fine, and the one without is very snug going over the hands... I ended up making a "flamingo" out of miliput to remove her hands (I made a few different versions since I didn't know what would work, which was good, as the thinner ones broke straight away!) But I have one that works like a charm for removing her hands! I think if I make another batch I will reinforce it/them with a wire base.
But anyways, I haven't found it necessary to remove her hands yet, but the flamingo makes it easier for certain items (an probably saves the clothes too!)

      • x 1
    9. @jamie5m I have found that volks sd blouses, cardigans, skirts, and dresses mostly fit very well! Depending on the items, the sleeves can be a bit snug, or the waistbands are a bit loose and may need a pin. I have a dd size skirt from dollheart which fits perfectly for her small waist, and I also have an sd blouse from rrabbit that fits well... sd17 shoes also fit, but certain styles look ridiculously huge - so that will be trial and error! Most sd socks will stretch.
Also, my girlfriend discovered that volks sdm wigs fit very well. That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there are lots of other things that would fit ;)

    10. Thank you.

    11. my Illua was shipped yesterday the day after I finished payments and she is already in Canada today! I am freaking out I am so excited guys!

    12. I'm having trouble accessing the link that shows Illua with an Alexia. I can open Illua with Lusion but not Alexia. Does anyone have any advice? I'd like to know if they could possibly work out as sisters. Thanks for any help

    13. What do you think of the quality of the illua clothing that you can buy individually from Dollmore? How do you think those dresses compare to the ones that come with Chocolat noir and Chocolat blanc?

    14. Hi everyone! Sorry I disappeared for over a year. Life got in the way and I hadn't done anything with my dolls in ages. I'm glad to see the thread still alive :cheer Welcome to all the new Illua fans!!

@jamie - Congratulations on your Illua being shipped! Definitely post pics once she arrives!! :D

@bajib - Are you still unable to view the image? I was able to access the link on my phone and could direct message you a screenshot of the image if you'd like? It shows the Illua as just a little bit taller than Alexia.

@Allie27 - I haven't bought any of the non-limited Illua size clothing from Dollmore yet but I do own Lusion sized Dollmore clothes, and personally think the default limited set that came with my Chocolate Blanc Illua is on par with my Lusion Dahlia Royal Floraison limited set, which is to say it's far above the quality of the standard non-limited outfits you can find on the site. Dollmore tends to have much more detailed outfits for limited sets that have nicer quality fabrics and better craftsmanship. On an unrelated note, I have actually found that 1/3 size tops from other brands can fit my Illua well, so I don't think the Illua body will limit you too much in terms of available choices if that is a concern.

@Studio404 - I just looked up the #dollmoreilluadoll pics your girlfriend uploaded and I'm dying at how pretty the Renoir Illua is as a brunette! Noooo now I feel like I need one too :love

Today I decided to re-dress my girl!

    15. Thank you, ker246. Where did you get the outfit in your photo? Your doll looks very pretty in it.

    16. Thank you! All her clothes are from Rrabit in 1/3 size. It's a bit difficult getting skirts on to the wide Illua hips but then they fit very loosely around her tiny waist

Just for fun I decided to play with the "add to cart option" on some of the different Illua dolls. It looks like the following quantities remain:
      22 - Chocolat Noir Dahlia LE40
      15 - Chocolate Blanc Dahlia LE40
      9 - Bonbon a la menthe Dahlia LE10
      8 - Le bonbon noir Dahlia LE10
      8 - Mosaic Clown Dahlia LE10
      8 - Ribbon Candy: Black Dahlia LE10
      7 - Ribbon Candy: Pink Dahlia LE10
      7 - Be my heart Dahlia LE10
      4 - Renoir's Blue Coat Dahlia LE10

      8 - Be my heart Daish LE10
      7 - Tell me more Daish LE10

    17. @bajib - Are you still unable to view the image? I was able to access the link on my phone and could direct message you a screenshot of the image if you'd like? It shows the Illua as just a little bit taller than Alexia.

That would be really helpful :) I also appreciate the update numbers remaining. I REALLY want a Tell Me More Daish to go with my Star Daudets Alexia if they look OK together. If there are still 7 left, I may be able to.

    18. The Petit Daish models don't seem to be going too fast so I think you'll be alright if you wait! Daish is actually my favorite Dollmore face sculpt. I so badly want the Be my heart Daish to go with my Illua Dahlia but need to save up for the Lusion Daish I want first haha

Let me see if hotlinking the photobucket image works:

    19. Thank you so much for the photo. It is exactly what I needed to see! I wonder if since the Alexia and Illua bodies seem pretty similar in size if their discussion threads couldn't be combined like some of the other similar sizes are doing?

    20. I noticed that Dollmore is planning to sell 3 sets of a limited illua doll outfit individually:
      Dollmore.net :: Everything for Doll & more
I hope Dollmore eventually decides to sell all the limited outfits individually on a regular basis. My favourite outfits are "Tell me more Daish", Renoir's Blue Coat" and "Ribbon Candy"

    21. I don't actually think an Alexia discussion even exists! I forget why but I believe I asked one of the mods a few years ago and Alexia's 46cm size delegated her to the thread with the Dollmore Kid dolls. If we ever reach maximum on this thread (unlikely to be soon!) then I'll ask if we can adopt them here :) That's a good idea you had!
I wonder if Alexia clothes can fit Illua dolls... Alexia's shoulders look much narrower but I might send them an email about that.

When Illua Dolls were first released, Dollmore actually had a service where you could order any clothing in Illua size! They stopped it almost immediately (not sure why, probably too much trouble) but I wish they would still do that! I agree, I would love to see more of the limited sets released individually. It would be fantastic if they would re-release some of the discontinued Lusion limited outfits in Illua size....

    22. Alexia and Illua are both welcome in the Big Baby discussion thread:Big BB Discussion(All Companies)

Dollmore used to make outfits in ant size if the seamstress agreed and it was possible. Some once ordered a large doll outfit for a Banji.

Alexia came out before the Big Baby trend and didn't fit in a standard size at the time. I think we could make another thread for her now.

    23. Thanks ker246! I would like to see more participation for these girls and know if they can share clothes.

And thanks for the reminder about the BB discussion nancy_schroeder_ca. I'll post my Alexia there whenI get her picture taken.

    24. Do you think an Alice in Labyrinth 1/3 doll would fit into Illua doll clothes? My AIL Alice wears an SD10 size dress. Alice has a shoulder width of 11cm and a waist circumference of 19.5cm. I know Alice has a bigger waist and wider shoulders than illua so this might be a silly question but, I thought I'd ask it anyway.

    25. Do you actually have pictures of your 1/3 AiL body? I would love to see them! I’m trying to decide right now between that body and a MaskCat body for one of my AiL heads.

I think the Illua clothes would probably fit the AiL despite the waist being larger, but I can’t say for sure. The only Illua outfit I have is the Chocolat Blanc set and it’s on my SD10 body right now. It actually fits that body fine but is a bit too wide in the waist (it’s loose on the Illua body it came on) because it’s cut to be boxy, not fitted

    26. Thank you for your help.
I posted a link to my photo of the 1/3 body in the Alice in Labyrinth 1/3 doll discussion thread:
Alice in Labyrinth 1/3 Doll Discussion
This is the only picure of the AIL1/3 body without clothes I've taken so far. I'm going out now but, I can take more pictures later, if you want.

    27. I’m glad to see there’s a 1/3 AiL discussion! I saw the picture of your body and like it a lot. I think that means I’m for sure going to buy it... :chomp:

Back to on topic, my Dollmore package of accessories arrived! So I changed out my Illua’s eyes and wig so will post pictures soon. She really needs 16mm eyes but I’m using 14mm despite the slight gapping in the eyeholes because I like a smaller iris/pupil.

    28. What do you think of the Alice illua doll? I really like her clothes. The Alice in Wonderland theme in the photos is cute too. To me, it also looks like she's ready for an Easter Egg Hunt.

    29. I like the outfit too! I'm glad to see them release more sculpts in this smaller version! She's not in the budget right now but maybe she will be available when I have spending money!

    30. I like her outfit! It’s good to see they’re continuing the Illua limiteds. I still like the Daish sculpt best though. My next doll is definitely going to be the Be My Heart Daish (unless I cave on a second and significantly more expensive Dahlia set!)

    31. Daish is still my favourite sculpt too. A Petite Daish is on my list of possible friends for my AIL Alice but, I still wish Dollmore would release one with optional makeup and a dress like Chocolat blanc/noir.
What do you think of "Be in Sorrow Daish"? I like the details on her dress and I think her lighter makeup gives her a softer look than some of the other dolls wearing black.
      Dollmore.net :: Everything for Doll & more

    32. I think she has a very pretty faceup!

    33. I love her! She reminds me of the Orgel Requiem Daish but with lighter makeup.

If you're still wanting a Petite Daish, I think the "Be My Heart" has the best price.

I am really torn. I was going to make "Be My Heart" as next doll purchase but now "Be in Sorrow" is tempting me despite that significant price difference

    34. I agree that Be in Sorrow Daish and Orgel Requiem Daish are similar. They would make a nice pair. To me, the gray around the Lusion doll's eyes makes her look like a zombie, as if she were either dead or she hasn't slept in ages due to her nightmares.

I'm also torn. I like "Be my heart" but, I'd want to add shoes, socks and a dress to her outfit. I think the nicest dresses Dollmore has are on the other two dolls so I'm also toying with buying one of them. The green velvet dress and bonnet on "Tell me more" are adorable. Most of my favourite doll outfits look princess-like. Plus, that outfit looks like the one on the Lusion doll. The details on "Be my Sorrow" would probably stand out better if the dress weren't black but, I still really like the dress. I like creepy, gothic things as well as more cutesy stuff. The black dress reminds me of Helen's Mirren's costume in the "Winchester" movie. Her character, Sarah Winchester, is also in mourning.

    35. I want to share a photo of my Be in Sorrow Petite Daish. This is my first full set doll and she's absolutely beautiful. I've named her Lydia, after the character in Beetlejuice:

I ordered this doll at the end of September and received it on Monday. It shipped in just under 6 weeks but, the delivery was delayed due to rotating strikes at Canada Post. I'm very relieved to have it now.

    36. I'm glad Dollmore has added Elenoir, Lilia, and another Alice to the illua line. Elenoir was my favourite sculpt after Daish but, now I'm not sure if I like Elenoir or Alice better. Alice reminds me of an Asian porcelain doll. I think she'd look very pretty with some traditional Asian clothes and hair accessories, maybe something similar to what Yeongeop Dahlia or Snow Flower White Jude is wearing.

    37. oh wow they are very similiar in size, I think I prefer the Alexia body..hmm wonder if the illua head will fit on it..lol

    38. Now if only they would make petite Trinities... >.>

    39. That would be nice. I would also like to see the Lusion boy brought down to Illua size.

      • x 1
    40. Seeing how long it took them to get the boys out in the first place.. I think it will be a while. :(

    41. lol...yea I was asking about a lusion boy for years and they finally made one, but I really can't stand his outfit..that is really the biggest reason why I haven't bought him. It's cool that they have 2 now but it would have been nice if they were brought out as basics like the girls and you could get them without a fullset. I'd love if they made Dell into Ilua size.

    42. Besides Dollmore, do you know of any stores that sell shoes large enough to fit an Illua doll?

    43. Mine is wearing some really big SD male shoes I believe. That could be an idea if you are adventurous and find a style you like. ^^

      • x 1
    44. She is beautiful! I have been seriously considering her as my next Dollmore purchase because I'm so in love with Daish, both Illua and Lusion sized

Hi everyone - I took a bjd hiatus and feel bad for not keeping this thread going :( I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your dolls! I just checked the Dollmore site and noticed they are selling Le Bonbon Noir Dress set separate from the doll, I assume because that full set wasn't selling well. Besides that, there seem to be no new updates (clothes/shoe/fullsets)

      • x 1
    45. Thank you. I really like her and she looks nice next to my Ail Alice. I've found that Daish can wear the green SD10-sized dress I bought for Alice from X-Y dress. (I bought it through Legend Doll, but I don't know if the site still carries the brand.) However, the Be in Sorrow dress doesn't quite fit Alice. It won't do up in the back.

I'm hoping Dollmore will add some more outfits for Illua soon, since the J'adore dresses are almost sold out..

    46. Your Lusion is gorgeous!! What sculpt is she? Did you get a company faceup or is it artist done?

    47. I decided to take Lydia (Be in Sorrow Daish) out of mourning for a while. I really like the background I bought from Legend Doll. I will probably get another one.

    48. What do you think of the new Illua doll, Alice in Fake Land Dahlia? Her outfit isn't as fancy as those of some of the other Dahlia dolls but I still think the dress is cute.

    49. The new One Day Suddenly Illua dolls remind me of the ghostly little girls from the movie The Shining. The ghostly little girls have matching blue dresses that look very similar to the ones these dolls are wearing.

    50. Quick question:

My wife has an Illua doll and we bought matte white Illua shoes for her. Well, they shredded the first time we tried them on her. They were so tight that the faux leather cracked and started rubbing off. We want to get her other shoes, but are hesitating to spend $30-$40 for another pair that could be le crappe. Does anyone know if any of the Dollmore Illua shoes are NOT waiting to shed their skin like some kind of growing snake? Thank you very much for any information you’d be willing to share. Apologies if anyone else has asked and answered this elsewhere, but I couldn’t find the answer if so.

    51. Also I really hope they release Dell in Illua size soon. >_<

    52. A boy illua would be awesome if they make it like the lusion boy body..I like the thicker style of the boy body vs girl body

    53. Even a girl version of Dell would be amazing. It’s one of their best sculpts in my opinion. But yes, I would absolutely love a boy in Illua size.

    54. Update: I asked, and they made an Illua Dell. So if anyone else was hoping for one, we can now get them! Yay! <3

      • x 1
    55. I like that Dell's head is also available seperately. I hope the other heads become available separately too.

    56. But I want the Dell boy body! I have a feeling that they are using the girl body. I asked and will report when I get an answer.

    57. I got a response from Dollmore:

Unfortunately, we do not make and sell Illua boy body now.

But i can tell your suggestion to our product\'s manager to develop Illua boy doll in future. :))
If you would like an Illua boy, let Dollmore know!

    58. Yesterday, I ordered a random Illua doll head box from Dollmore. I'm excited to see what I get. I'm hoping for Elenoir or Alice but all the sculpts are pretty. Did anyone else order one of these boxes?

    59. I got a petite Lillia head.:) Now to look for faceup ideas...
