DOLLITS DKD Mini Discussion Thread

The dollits body is one of my favourites! It has a perfect balance between mature and youthful. ^_^

 

So my Dollits DKD body arrived after only a month! It's literally amazing! I have it hybridized with an Unoa Lusis FP in fairy skin (the body is in white skin; the FP was produced in 2016, and the body literally this month), and I love her! I'm sorry for the crappy pics; I was just in such a hurry to post her here. I apologize for my gross carpet, btw (my cat and dog are really good at mitigating my vacuuming efforts).

She really couldn't look more perfect on that body! The match is amazing and I so agree that the D.K.D. body is simply wonderful.

Hi everyone! I am super interested in the Somi and Eunsu sculpt, however I've been told that Dollits only has ordering periods once a year for certain sculpts.. is this true??

 

If I were you I would contact J. Baek at Dollits (you can ask questions on the site). That way you'll know for sure. There's also a facebook page and you could ask there.

 

I am not aware of Dollits limiting their ordering, they may have been referring to the tan skin option which is only offered occasionally. Eunsu was released as limited not that long ago but she is set to come back in October along with the new body. The MSD girls may be sold out because he's preparing for the release of the new body?

It's worth asking though. When I bought Soohee she was sold out but when I asked, he told me he had a few left over.

 

Hello again! I ended up contacting Dollits and he has let me start a lay away for a Somi head and a full Eunsu in NS!!!! I am so so excited I can hardly contain myself!!!! I just hope they will be on the new bodies?

 

Congratulations! He is just such a nice man.
I would imagine they would be on the new bodies, but you could just make that request and that way you'll be sure.
I know you must be excited!

 

He really is. NS full dolls were out of stock so I contacted him and he made a special listing for me, and then after I paid I really wanted to add the DKD hands (the peace sign hand it just too cute) and he said no problem! He truly is an incredible person and many many kudos to him for running Dollits so smooth and efficiently. They have shipping times that most doll owners can't believe LOL!

I really want to ask him but I feel like I've been such an annoyance as it is!! I'll just have to woman up I suppose lol!

 

LOL. I think all the D.K.D. bodies are the new style (which poses wonderfully) but I don't know that for sure. I'll bet he wouldn't mind answering that question.

 

I'm saving up at the moment for Eunsu and hopefully can order her when she's back up for sale.

I asked in the Q&A if the new body was just going to be slightly different or have significant differences. This was the reply:

The new DKD body is not a modified body.
It is a complete new body.
It became a bit plump.
Please Look forward the pictures in September.

I'm really excited to see the new body but I hope I like it as much as the old body as that looked pretty perfect to me.

 

Ohhhh. I did not know that. I don't think I would want my DKD body to change. I love it. Maybe he'll continue to sell both? I love that my Miso can wear patterns done for the Tonner Ellowyne doll with almost no alteration.

 

I don't know why but I just assumed that this new body coming out in October would be very similar with just minor alterations. But apparently not .

So it looks like the new body will be chunkier? Or do you think he meant that the old body was plump and they slimmed the new body down?

 

I really hope they keep selling the old body! I just got mine today and I love it! I would definitely like to get at least one more...

So I think I've just bought Eunsu on the old body. She was in the only you section and only 140usd. The price seems a bit too good to be true. Has anyone else bought a doll from the only you section before or know anything about it?

I think the "Only you section" is a layaway section . You doll will cost 420 $ total . 3 payement of 140 $ . It's mentionned at the end of the page ( hope you understan my poor english )

 

Thanks so much for your answer. I was on the mobile site and it doesn't mention layaway but I just checked the PC version and you are right.

Uh I feel so daft. Do you think they are likely to give me a refund? There's an option to cancel order I'm wondering if I should do that or just wait for a reply on the Q&A.

 

That may have been my layaway post. I put Eunsu full doll and Somi head on lay away and my first payment was $140.

Edit: just checked. definitely was my lay away post! Eunsu full doll is $320 and the Somi head was $100 for my total is $420. (Split three ways is $140.)
I'm sure he'll refund you, or offer you a lay away for Eunsu alone!

 

Thanks for your reply I've sent a message on the Q&A so hopefully I'll get an answer tomorrow. I feel so so embarrassed . If it wasn't for the new body coming out I'd just ask to have it as a layaway but I don't want to have the old body and wish I was getting the new one and vice versa.

 

It's okay!!! If I saw a good deal, I'd jump on it too. When I checked the mobile site, it didn't mention lay away either I don't think.

He did message me this morning that my Eunsu will be on the old body, so if you really want the new body I would definitely suggest waiting! I'm pretty sure he's opening up preorders in a couple months anyway. I'm sure of it, he wouldn't tease a new body and then not open a pre-order... right....??!?!?!....

 

I didn't say anything about layaway on the mobile site, I read over it loads cause I wondered if it might be that

Apparently he's going to be showing pics of the new body in September so I should probably just be patient and wait for that.

I guess worst case scenario you just get the old body and if the new one suits your dolly better, you can buy the new one and sell the old one!

All I can say is that I could not be happier with the body I have. It poses wonderfully, and I would not wish it to be any 'chunkier'. I adore mine. I'm not even sure what J. Baek could do to make it better!!!

 

I see someone set up a lay away for Eunsu!!... @Loganberry perhaps?

Also, I just realized that J. Baek never sent me a receipt or anything. Is that pretty common practice for Dollits?

 

@maddison3m haha well kind of. He said I can have her on the old body which I've decided I'm really happy about. But I can't make a payment until he refunds my orginal payment or transfers it to the new layaway. Communication is slow because of the time difference. But hopefully it will happen soon .

Did you order Eunsu with a face up?

 

Yay!!!! How exciting! And no I didn't. I only *sort of* liked the Makeup A option, but didn't totally love it. I figured, why pay $50 for a face up I *sort of* like when I can pay $50 for one by an individual face up artist I loved! Same with my Somi head.

 

Yeah I know what you mean. I ordered with face up B (or I'm going to) because I know it will be a while till I can send her off for a face up and I really don't like having blank dolls. But probably sometime in the new year I'll get her a new face up.

I'm super excited. Really hope I get her before Christmas as she's my Christmas present

 

Having blank dolls is the worst! They kind of scare me blank LOL.

Yes they do me too, especially when they're dressed and wigged without a face up haha. Plus I usually just end up getting frustrated with them being blank and sell them.

Yes I just hope I get her in time, I've heard good things about dollits wait times and I think the body is in stock, so that's a good sign

He's been doing phenomenal with shipping times. I've heard about 2-6 weeks as an average... So I think you will get her just in time!!

 

@Loganberry did you ever get a payment receipt or anything when you purchased the first listing?? a friend of mine and i never get a receipt or anything for our purchases and i wanted to see if you had experienced the same thing or not! kinda weirded out hahah

 

I received an email that said order summary and it had my order number and how much I paid, it seemed to be automated as I recieved it straight after making payment.

 

that’s so weird!! when i set up a lay away i never got any email confirmations for mine.

 

That's really odd, maybe they were sent but you didn't receive them?

 

I've just seen some pics of the new body on instagram and it doesn't look too different to the old one. It will be interesting to see some side by side pictures and measurements.

 

Here's a very roughly put together side-by-side! Taken from Dollits website and Instagram.
New Body --> Old Body

The biggest difference is obviously the waist. The hands looks to be less "dainty"? The joints look different, especially the knees. And her legs look to be much much shorter in the side-by-side but these pictures could be deceiving..
Also, side note.... who's face sculpt is that!! *side eye*

 

Oh thanks @maddison3m that's really helpful. It's much easier to see the differences now. I actually prefer the old body, luckily that's the one I'm getting .

I thought that looked like a new sculpt!

 

I agree, I still love the old body and am glad my order will have it rather than the new one!

Well, now we can choose between 2 bodies. This is great!
I might buy a new body later. But now I'm just very glad that I already have an older version.

Yes, I'm very thankful my order has the old body. The newer body looks to have much less "mature" features to me, except the chest looks bigger?

That would be AWESOME if it had magnetic hands/feet!!

 

Thanks for the comparison . I thought the old body was being discontinued, is that not the case?

It kinda does look like there are magnets, it looks a little similar to the minifee magnet hand and feet joints.

I still like the old body better it does look more mature and I like the broader shoulders.

 

Sorry to double post but I've just paid off my Eunsu and I cannot wait to get her!! Keeping all my fingers crossed that she gets here before Christmas

I know dollits say 12mm for eyes, is that the best size for a more realistic look?

Had to share this. I bought a bathroom set made for the WalMart play doll called "My Life as a Doll" and it is just perfect for my Dollits! Lizzy jumped in the box before I even got the bathroom unpacked. LOL.




I should add that the vanity lights turn on, and the toilet makes a flushing sound! Now I have to build a bathroom!!

I'm a fan of the old body and am glad that is what my Miso has. I think the new body has been made more 'child-like' with a less defined waist and maybe shorter/chubbier legs? I just adore the body my Miso has, and would say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.". LOL. I'd rather J. Baek do that D.K.D. boy he's promised me! LOL.

 

Yes I agree! The legs certainly look shorter. The new body overall just looks more child like! I am very happy to have to old body on my Eunsu!

 

Sorry to double post but... I just finished my layaway for Somi and Eunsu! I am so so excited!!!

A friend of mine, @tiikx , got her Dollits Somi in 8 weeks exactly I believe! (She'll have to verify, I may not be remembering correctly). But I do know Dollits was INSANELY fast!!
*internal screaming until I have somi and eunsu*

@maddison3m it was exactly 8 weeks (including weekends) from ordering to the day she shipped; and she arrived to my house 5 days from the shipping day!

 

Ok!! How exciting is that, @maddison3m ? I know you will just be delighted when they arrive. Can't wait to see photos.

 

Did everyone see the pictures Dollits posted on IG and Facebook of the new body?!?!
Side by side comparisons with both the "old" dollits body and I believe a SBS with a volks body?
And then the different posing!! Ahhhhh!

 

Yes I saw the pics, I like the body but I prefer the old one luckily but the posing did look pretty good .

I think the new body looks a bit shorter than the old one?

Haha me and my husband are actually really bad at waiting till Christmas day to open presents. The other year we opened them a week before and then had to rewrap them so our son wouldn't notice (he would have seriously disapproved haha).

So I am determined to hang on till Christmas morning this year. I can do it. Maybe .

@maddison3m I did see the body and the posing. Have to say that I like the proportions of the older D.K.D. body (the one that I have) but the posing ability of the new body is marvelous.
