Second son will be starting college that Sept, so, no more shopping! I have plenty dolls as is anyway, and i can be endlessly occupied with restringing, repainting, or sewing or bodyblushing, and have the supplies for that, even laid in extra Mr. Superclear cans in case of idiotic tarif plans.
I voted awhile ago, but wasn't sure what to exactly say here. I want to buy a few new dolls, I have a plan for four dolls this year and they have to come before I buy anymore. I want to work on my current dolls, I actually want to try modding one of them. I've done subtractive modifications before, but I have plans to add height to one of them by sculpting Apoxie on the the legs. If this works good, I might do some other modding as well. I have been wanting to try additive modding. Buy and craft things for my dolls, for the fist time ever I haven't been able to keep up with getting them shoes. I have a few guys that could really use me getting shoes. I just hope I can find the size and style that I like for them. I decided I am not that good at making wigs, but I do want to get better at styling the wigs. I always like to sew for them I think they could use some more summer clothes as well. Learn new skills, for me this would be to learn more about modding and sculpting. Get more involved in the hobby. I am still doing my photo story on Instagram, Season 2. I also working on loading all of Season1 up on Blogger so I can have it all in one place. I am still debating getting back into YouTube videos though. It really does take a lot of work I might like to at least do more of the BJD Addicts Prompts. Anyways, it will be see nice to see how this goes by the end of next year. I'll have to check back here from time to time.
Other than paying off my last layaway for a Loongsoul bjd and crap... I forgot about the Volks FFXIV twins that I have on order. Future me issue, I guess. I'm planning on getting two other dolls. One is a an reshell of an OC which I'm going to order from Iplehouse custom. I've always wanted one and I want her to be 62 or 65cm with a tone body. So HID for me. The other one I want to make is a character from Disney's Twisted Wonderland, Malleus. So, I'm on the hunt. I'm leaning towards Soom/Idealian but that Moonlit Wonder Triton doesn't look too bad, when he goes on sale that is. I personally like the teeth/mouth option with Moonlit Wonder. I'm also looking at different 75cm bodies for a different OC and that's a pain. Other than that it's wigs, eyes, and faceups to look at for other dolls that need completing on my list. Maybe it's time to learn to do faceups and eyes?
I am going to continue practicing making wigs and remake all my dolls' wigs. I am also going to make myself try faceups again.
Oh, I don't know if I'm actually going to get to any of these between work and school, but here is what I would like to do in 2025: Sell off a few dolls that I no longer intend to do anything with Buy one or two more dolls to put a tentative cap on the collection Get some bodies for the floating heads! Get some faceups and clothes for those who need it With any luck, get a crafting station set up for sewing and wigs!
I like these threads, even if I'm not that effective at following my plans. New Dolls- Currently waiting on Dollzone the Hanged Man (Arrived June 5!) Attending NYC Doll Convention - may bring home new dolls and am also hoping to find a wig and eyes for Diana there (AishaVoya Wren came home) Fairyland Minifee Karsh (Arrived July 22) Projects- 2-3 Dolls I'm planning to sell (got one listed) Sew more clothes Blue Boho outfit for Morrigan, 2 striped MSD skirts/underskirts, Gracefaerie Marzipan outfit for Hestia, Dark Mori Outfit for Isora, Visual Kei inspired outfit for Selene, Day of the Dead inspired 2 layer dress for Diana, Regency style dress for Jaala Do more face-ups! I have SO MANY blank dolls (2 done in August, 4 done total) Sand and paint my off topic Nekomata Work on the dollhouse in progress for my Real Puki duo Maybe upgrade clothing storage
I just got into this hobby this year, but I think it's a good idea to put a few ideas into the universe, because I can absolutely see things getting away from me if I'm not careful. I'd like to really make some decisions about what I want my collection to look like. My magpie brain wants all the shiny new dolls, but that's not feasible for my wallet, nor my living space. Get my dolls all completed with eyes, wigs, and clothes. I want to try making wigs! Sew some clothes! It'll be nice to sew something that's not for myself for a change! Get more involved in the hobby! My local community is awesome, and I want to get to know them better. I also want to try my hand at making photo stories, or maybe even draw comics based on my dolls - if I'm feeling especially ambitious lol. Good luck with your goals, everyone !!
2025 goals/plans: Clean out: I've gotten several new bodies this year that made me realize that old bodies I've been holding onto for "sentimental reasons" are no longer sentimental. Some dolls or parts of dolls are no longer sparking joy. They are going to be rehomed. Face-ups: practice eyebrows (my nemesis). Gonna watch all the YouTube tutorials and try this one by Xanthi. Face carving: several dolls are getting cheek hollows. That Light Limner head I got on a whim made me realize that I love the high cheekbone/severe cheek hollow look. Sculpting: I will make that Dollmore Glamour FMD body look more, erm, proportional. Gonna try some shoulder caps. Sewing: Grayson's suit first, and then whatever strikes my fancy (probably undies). I'm making a resolution to do a little bit of sewing every day. Hybrids: make final decisions on hybrids; color-match heads and bodies, which means more airbrush practice. New resin will most likely be bodies that I want for dolls I currently have whose bodies don't spark joy. And maybe another Iplehouse Mari, cuz I love that sculpt. We'll have to see what 2025 brings, financially.
2025 Plans Sell; I really need to get around to selling on the doll and head that deserve a home that actually wants them, I'm just a dreadful procrastinator Sculpt: God, so many things. A book hoard stand for my dragon, some lighter and more manoeuvrable wings for said dragon, finish off Cullen's head or give up and get someone else to do it, the BJD horse that I've been meaning to make, a proper head for Lisette. Sew: Yes, I want to sew. I need to finish Cullen's outfits, I want to sew pretty dresses for my girls and I want to finish that goddamn robe/coat/thing that I've been working on. Also work on embroidery and wig making. S...acquire: I want at least one more girl. I've got four boys and only two girls, I want to make that a little more even but for some reason I'm pickier about female bodies than I am about the boys. Also very possibly an extra tiny 1/12 scale doll to go with my dragon
Let's see if I can actually stick with my resolutions in 2025? The last few years, real life got in the way of me enjoying my hobbies. Our upstairs is being repaired/remodeled the first half of this year, which will give me an opportunity to go through everything (dolls, wigs clothes, etc) and reorganize and rethink my doll space. More photos of my dolls! I love the Doll Profile section and would like to start making some profiles of my dolls. If there's time, I have some project dolls that I would like to do mods and face-ups for. I'd like to engage more here, especially in discussions about older bjds. Surely there are others here who own and enjoy the old classics and would like to talk more about their dolls as well.
I really need to get jointed hands for my Loongsoul Ji Sui Bao, so I'll make that my top resin goal for this year. I've been waffling on the idea of swapping his body out for something 65-68cm because his head seems a little small for his current one, but then I'd have to give up his FS outfit too... I also have a pile of wigs that need styling and hands that need blushing. I've been slowly chipping away at them, so maybe this year I'll finally finish.
I'mm running out of space, so I hope to limit buying, especially as I'm not very good at selling dolls. This said, there's already one or two I'm eyeing... Mostly though, I plan on finishing the custom of dolls I already have, especially my mature tinies. The smalls really need better clothes and wigs... I also hope to take more photos in 2025. But first I need to repair my phone camera that hasn't been the same since it fell in some water. If it can't be repaired, a new phone might be my first doll expense of the year
Didn't accomplish anything last year except get a Pipos (which wasn't on the list) You can check last year's list here My doll plans for 2025 are: ○ get my Ian a kimono/some clothes ○ commission a face-up for my Kumako Ruru/someone to blush her bear parts ○commission/learn to do a face-up/blushing for my Pipos Pang ○sell a doll/get rid of stuff I don't use and the if the opportunity presents itself at the right time: ○ get a MayDoll Lemon Cat in WS ○ get a tan MDD through DreamChoice ○ get a PUYOODOLL Baby Kumako Egg #1 in milktea
I've been pretty dormant on the BJD front, but I'm thinking I'd like to purchase a Dollzone Little Snow to make a fairy. That's the only plan I can think of for this year!
Oh boy I have a lot. Thanks to Christmas I have some money to re-invest in some supplies and tools to help me with some customization plans I've had for a while. Practice with the new airbrush, hopefully get some new face ups for the whole crew Time to practice making eyes, wigs, accessories Start shelling everyone and eventually making profiles for the whole crew Learn to sew so I can finally clothe my largest (83 cm) Cleaning it all: The shelf, the dolls, their clothes. I feel so bad how much dust has been building up but it's been such a rough year I barely had time for any of it. Posting more here, hopefully make some new friends Practicing photography, I have so many ideas for photo stories I'd really love to make a reality, but also so much to learn about photography in general. I CANNOT get any more dolls, I even need to sell one or two as it is. Even if I don't end up doing everything I feel super stoked I'm doing anything at all especially after how awful this past year has been to me and my hobby. Anyways, happy new year everyone!
Doll plans for 2025:So many plans/ ideas ... ¤ I have some doll that have been in their boxes since I got them, I have looked at them several times but still no spark of joy.. So now they are on "Sell off a few dolls that I no longer care for" list. I hope to have sold 1-3 doll at the end of 2025. ¤ I have a few doll on "buy/ grail" list too. there is 3 now.. - hopefully no more than these. ( looking a you gem of doll, your new cats is tempting me!) ¤ Faceups.. have 3-4 heads waiting and 2 body needs blushing too. I had plan on finding an old head for practice and learn my self, but have not found one yet. Good there is some time to the good weather is here. all the other things are ready, just missing the head... ¤ More photos of my dolls. don't have to be a serie or story, just be better to share them here or other places. would love to take some photos out side, or with themes, like Easter, Halloween or Christmas.. ¤ I would love to sew for my dolls, nearly all of them already have 1 outfit each... I have som Christmas sweaters but I am missing pants, so for a Christmas photo 2025 I think I am missing 7-8 pants. maybe more outfit will come on the sewing list. ¤.I have plans to use one or more of my dolls as muses for a painting ( I've just come back to painting again in jan 2024, have had a break for some years now), but I never came around to do it 2024. so I hope to get to that done ( or at least startet) in my next big Holliday or just some time in 2025!.. ¤. I would love to find something similar to resin rose, but just in north Europe. have had no luck so fare. google is not my friend in this.. lol. Long list, and could probably ad some more. but these I have been thinking over, and think most of them is possible to do.
There's one doll convention in the UK in May, and there's another one in Barcelona in September UK Thread - /threads/ukbjdcon-2025.879760/ Barcelona Thread - /threads/eu-dolly-day-bcn-volks-honour-partner-first-time-in-europe.883230/
I just got into this hobby, so there's so many things I would like to try for next year! It's been very fun so far. My plans are: - Meet other doll people at least once IRL (I'm pretty nervous, so this will be the biggest one!) - Find or make underclothes that fit my doll to "finish" his costume (the ones I got were too small OTZ) - Attempt a faceup - Find what scale I like best! My one guy (and incoming one) are both what I would consider very large compared to my normal OT collection of anime figures, so I'd like to see different scales IRL to see which one is really for me. Happy new year and best tidings!
Receive the head for the body I have and the body for the head I have. Both have been ordered, it's just that the one is in transit and I'm waiting for tracking on the other. Once they're received, finish the faceup and blushing work Work on more doll clothes. I've got both modern and fantasy stuff to sew and I've been learning crochet. Work more on the site. It needs more attention and I need to throw myself into the 90s nostalgia of running such a site. I have a list of things to do, it's just getting it done. Figure out humanoid faceups. Because I want to be able to do them. Make progress on sets and props, so I can pose my crew and do more photography.
Thank you!. Barcelona is to far away. I think, I had hope to find one or similar too, in Norway, Denmark, Sweden or germany, so fare with no luck. I will check the UK Thread, could be a possibility, hadn't thought about it, thank you.
My main goal is to make knitting patterns and knitwear for my dolls. I have a lot of ideas for sweaters that I want to do. It’s just takes A LOT of trial and error. And math, and I dislike math lol Plus continue sewing doll clothes and make sure everyone has a faceup that I like. I’m thinking of re-doing 2 of them. I have one new doll who will probably arrive in the summer that will be needing a faceup as well. Hopefully I won’t buy any more I gotta stick to my “one in, one out” rule for real this year.
Creative goals: Sew clothes. Make accessories, jewellery… Would be nice if everyone that wears earrings would have at least one pair/set of their own. Finish or at least make a good start on the chainmail for Dream Valley Hylander once she arrives (probably 1st quarter of the year). Complete 1 doll. Continue upping the average level of completeness of my whole collection. Make at least 2 new wigs, preferably for those that I haven’t already done one for before. Dye some mohair dark green so I would at least finally have the material to make Kane’s wig. Continue writing their story. Do faceups for everyone that needs them. Dahlia, new Willow, Myrtle, Hylander’s both heads, Impl Gemma if I can get her in time. Oh and Rhodeia, her brows have to be redone because I changed my mind about her hair color. Speaking of Rhodeia, finish her head shrink. Still speaking of her, tattoo at least her hands. Get Nephele’s face back to being representable, one way or another. Started fixing her mouth with apoxie just the other day, but we’ll see if I’m able to get her face to be a uniform color once I’m done. Thankfully, as she is white resin I might be able to do it with white spray paint alone and without it causing too much of a mismatch with her body either, but if that fails I’ll figure out some accessory to instead just cover the lower half of her face. Do the same shoulder narrowing mod for the new Impldoll body as I did for the last one. Try and take proper photos of April before the winter’s over as she’s already dressed for it but other than that, don’t waste mental energy on trying to push myself to take pictures, that energy is better spent on getting more dolls to a presentable state. Finish modding the DollLeaves body that I started on a whim a couple of days ago (long story short, abandoned the DollLeaves Ida on a bust -project only to realize that now that I reshelled Willow into another doll, Ida could have her original body back, the only requirement being that I mod the neck to be longer again). Inspiration filled my head and now I finally know who that character is, she’s Nephele’s mom, and the story already provided the perfect reason for her to not have wings anymore so I don’t even have to suffer and sculpt those. Maintenance goals: Restring and hot glue suede Anise and any dolls I receive this year. I’ve plenty of string for SDs but I need to get more that’s suitable for MSDs. I keep forgetting that despite their heftiness, the centaur and the dragon girl are indeed smaller and therefore require thinner string, and the incoming Hylander is also that size... If some other maintenance work pops up, keep up the good new habit of taking care of it ASAP rather than let the amount of it to buildup to a point of getting too anxious to work on anything. Goals depending on my financial situation, in order of priority: Start a layaway for a dark tan Impldoll Gemma on their 62cm body ASAP, because I’ll be really sad if I don’t get to do her faceup this year (weather starts getting annoyingly unstable for sealing in July). Buy filters for the gas mask so I can actually do any faceups. Buy more different shades of watercolor pencils, I remember I was at least missing some shade of brown last time, and I probably don’t have a suitable violet for Gemma’s brows yet either. Buy mohair for wigs. Buy more eyes, still plenty of dolls that don't have their "own" eyes.
Purchase wig, shoes, and top for my one BJD, Drusilla Make her a pair of pink leggings Monitor primary and secondhand sites for sales Haunt the thrift stores for porcelain doll dresses (that can be made to fit MSD) Save $$ for a sleepy faceplate, jointed hands, and heeled feet Investigate/ experiment with eye mechs for her
Trying to sell off some dolls to make room for dolls that are my current jam. Sew more Sculpt more. Not sure if for sale or for personal enjoyment I'm pretty sure I will buy more dolls whenever Whitedoll releases something else xD Finish painting my Coral Reef ONE. x_x it's been so long
So, 2024 was one of those very busy type of years for me, so I didn't do much doll stuff, let alone get many of my 2024 goals achieved. I had zero time for pictures, which kind of stinks because I wound up impulse buying a YoSD Megu off Mandarake in the summer because the price was right - which was not in my plans and that has definitely influenced some of my doll goals for 2025 and onwards. In terms of curating the collection, I decided in July or August that I want to sell/trade a few dolls and get rid of their clothing, wigs, shoes. I'd like to start the process of trying to do so this year. When it comes to general hobby enjoyment and activities, my goals are as follows; Take more photos. My goal is to post ONE new photo to instagram a month. This way I will have 12 new photos, and anything else is a bonus. This should also encourage me to have more impromptu sessions, because I don't always share every little photo shoot or photo I take. Volunteer at the anime convention doll table (if my local community decides to do so again) for a third time. Raw data spreadsheet of my dolls, clothing, shoes, accessories and all that fun stuff so I can then pivot table all that info and live out my best accessible doll info life. In terms of working towards finishing what I have (which is an overall long-term goal & I don't necessarily plan on doing all of this year, but any work towards it is considered a win) Prim - decide on/get their wig, get their eyes, and decide on final outfit. Persephone - Wig and eyes, sister outfit to her sister's outfit. Penny: eyes Pips: send out for faceup? Do faceup myself if local doll group does wind up doing a faceup day/workshop. Creating the doll profiles for Persephone and Prim (I want them to be close to their final form before I post them here - and any pics I took of them last year are not up to par) In terms of bringing home new dolls, I don't have any concrete plans, more like ideas and things that are very dependent on luck, timing, pricing and doll company choices: I have this vague idea for a Quilladin inspired doll to be BFFs with Pips but no real sculpt in mind. I've also been pondering how I'd style a Volks YoSD Sho who would be the final sibling for Penny and Persephone. (This is 100% dependent on second hand pricing and my own luck - and is very much of a "if it happens this year, it happens, if it doesn't oh well" deal.) I'd jump on ordering a Happydream Chuping if Chicabi does a latte or mocha skin special order this year.
2024 was a big doll year for me! I brought home a ton of new dolls, including my biggest grails and some longtime wishlist dolls. I also spent a lot of time practicing faceups, and I added a lot of items to my dolls' wardrobe (nothing that I sewed myself, though, sadly). I made a big spreadsheet cataloging my collection and wishlist in an attempt to curb impulse purchases (this only kind of worked). I also went to Resin Rose for the whole duration of the convention (my first time doing that) and had a blast! As for my goals for this year, here's what comes to mind: * End the year with every doll in my collection having a name, faceup, eyes, and wig. * Teach myself how to make wigs! * Practice sewing again and complete at least a few clothing pieces. * Spend some time fleshing out my dolls' characters a bit, and maybe figure out a fun way to document them. * Get back into doll photography and take nice portraits of the dolls in my collection for their DoA doll profiles. * Attend a local doll meetup for the first time! * Sell a few dolls that aren't super in line with my collection goals anymore. * Overall, be much more intentional about which dolls I buy for my collection. This year and last year I experimented with different scales and discovered that anything over 1/4 is too big for me, and that most of my impulse-bought dolls didn't bring me as much joy as I thought they would after the new purchase excitement died down. I doubt I'll get around to completing every one of these, but looking at this list it feels clear that I want to make my priority for this year exploring more of the creative aspects of the hobby, particularly with the dolls I have now. I'm so pleased with all of the lovely sculpts I've acquired this year but definitely haven't spent as much time being creative with them as I would like. I'm excited for what this new year brings!
I don’t have many doll plans for this year. I think maybe I’ll try to finish the faceups I ought to have done last year and sort out clothes for dolls that need them. I have downsized a lot in the past year or so although I recently bought several 1/4 scale anime figures so I’m going to have to tinker a bit with the shelves in my room to make a bit more space for them when they arrive and rethink my current doll display methods too
Things I want to complete for my dorries in 2025: commission my remaining blank heads for faceup (3 of them remaining), may include other resin accessories clean and restring my one BJD that did not make it in my 2024 BJD goals, will also add here a pair of jointed hands updated photoshoot for all six of my dorries, maybe insert a photostory or two and give my DoA signature pic a long overdue update organize my dorrie pics to other image hosting sites, may include also fixing old posts hosted in LiveJournal that were unfortunately messed up because of that Photobucket fiasco Hope to be able to accomplish them before year end
Last year, I had the goal to save up and order just one BJD and that... completely fell through because money was needed elsewhere. So that's my big goal this year. Save up to order the one I wanted to order last year. Hopefully it can happen!
Yessssss ! She's gorgeous ! This year I would receive my Magaret in transcendent skin but I want so much another miss !
My 2025 goals are mostly centered around my current dolls honestly! - finally commission face up/ body blush/ fantasy parts of my Aileen dragon snow rot (it’s been ten years the poor dear) I already have an artist picked out and they open commissions later this month so I’m crossing my fingers that I can snag a slot! - get stands for my 1/4 and incoming 1/6th girlie that can’t stand on their own - commission face up and fantasy part blushing for said incoming girl when she gets here. -pick out and buy a wig and clothes for her too. - try out doing faceups on my ot dolls
My goals are to work on my current BJD family. I’ve moved a few times, so they are worse for wear right now and could use much needed TLC. I want to try my hand at wig making and maybe even sewing clothes this year if time allows for it.
My 2025 goals? - get stands for 1/6 dolls and possibly 75cm dolls - commission face up?/find an artist - I still really like one of my dolls, so I'll consider having it done - attempting faceups on my dolls, again - pick out clothes and wigs - try to save up money to buy bjds - enjoy the dolls I currently have (I've waited long enough for them)
I want to get a couple new wigs for my boys and more clothes because they're never enough > I also want to get a camera and learn how to do photoshoots
When you start mentioning selling your dolls, please remember to keep it in general terms, no specific doll mentions, please.
This past year I’ve really jumped back into the hobby, so I’m excited to have 2025 goals! Get another DD body so all heads can be displayed Get enough stands for everyone to be on display Get my FCS heart doll Continue frequent face up practice Take more photos of the dolls!
This month marks my 19th year on DOA, so I can say I've tried out a lot of stuff, but there are things I've never done. Let's remedy that with a few goals! Buy new dolls / heads / bodies. Less of a plan and more of an "I already preordered several OT blind box bunny bjds and two OT cats bjds for my mom and I." If possible, I'd like to snag a Kaniboom head and chubby Xagadoll 1/4 body to make my mage girl's cute girlfriend. Sell some dolls / heads / bodies. I have a boy that's clean, restrung, his faceup removed, his extra head ready, eyes and optional wig included, lots of packing supplies ready... I just haven't listed him yet. My camera is all charged up and everything, so I need to get myself in gear and find him a new home! Work on my current dolls. I swear, this is probably my favorite part of the hobby. I've made wigs, eyes, clothes, shoes, craft armor, and now I'm sculpting a pair of long rabbit ears and a tail for Jack. And then I plan to make him some four-fingered hands because I cannot find hardly any, and those that are available aren't quite what I want. Sculpt my own doll / doll head / doll body. More like doll parts; see above. I plan on casting them in resin when they're ready. Buy / Craft new accesories (wigs, eyes, clothes, shoes, props, etc.) An ongoing goal. I'm always on the lookout for cute, affordable props to buy when I can afford to. I enjoy crafting them too. Made a spellbook for my mage kitty with cardboard, fabric, glue, and tiny printed images of spells and alchemy I grabbed from pinterest. Learn new skills (sewing, wig-making, face-ups, etc.) Mold making and resin casting are two things I have yet to try, so I'll be sculpting a few test pieces before I use the things I worked hard on!
(Posting again because I apparently broke the rules – whoops! Sorry! ) Rebuild the Migidoll collection – Low goal is to finish my Miho. He has a body on the way and he needs a faceup. High goal would be to also get a Ryu again. Even higher goal would be to get alternative heads for them all so they can have stage makeup versions (I like to imagine they’re in a band because I’m ultra original like that) Body for the Delf Woosoo – I have a WS body that he can go on for now, but I’d like to get him a matching body in NS if I can find one Get a CP Delf girl head – I have a spare Delf type 1 girl body that needs a head. I’m thinking Lishe because that’s the most common of the sculpts that I want but we’ll see! Mystery project dolls – I have an idea for a couple of dolls that are completely unrelated to the rest of my collection. Not sure if I will do this but I would really like to. Doll stands for the JIDs – My two Iplehouse JID girls are the only completed dolls in my collection that aren’t on display. So I would like to get a couple of good MSD doll stands so I can put them on my desk. Sell one of my dolls – there is one doll I’m thinking of selling
My main goal is to replace the head on my big boy with one that I can verify better. I have a head for him that I got that has iffy pedigree and that's bugging me a lot so I am actively looking for a replacement head. Its supposedly legit but I would prefer one with its COA etc. Other than working on outfits I'm pretty much done with buying dolls for a while. This past year I really indulged on used dolls. I need to start saving more and and just work on the dolls I've got. I still need wigs and better eyes and stuff. So this year is all about that just pulling the dolls I have all together in terms of what's left to do.
A mixture of work on current dolls and acquire new dolls - well, acquire a body, for one of my two current floating heads - I just can't decide which head to prioritise... Since either way it'll likely be a high expense stressy paint chip/risk a losing a headcap for a more accurate match colour-match type of deal. Both are candidates for a doll I've been trying to reshell on and off since I decided the initial attempt to shell the character wasn't quite right, and either would work, but with rather different vibes for the doll/character. So my usual indecision. Otherwise - work on the current collection. There's my usual candidates for, its now been long enough since I last face-upped them, that my fear of doing the face-up less well this time around is now outweighed by my annoyance at how out of place these dolls look with the rest of my group skill/style-wise. (Mostly the elder Dollshes in my group are affected by this - the Saint twins in particular are very overdue a repaint, as is my Bernard... the more 'human' Van, and for all that I'm largely still satisfied with the face-up my Orijean's face-up is old enough that I probably should if I'm painting the other oldies. Ack basically most of the Dollshes are overdue for various reasons. The bad taste of being one of many that man caught out in his long con primary amongst them.) Then I've got three-ish perpetual WIPs that could always do with finishing. There's my heavily modded android doll based around a Fantasy Doll body that though he's basically done I'm always finessing. An adorable but flawed (and sold as such) cyclops that needs rather delicate joint rebuilding to be strung (the casting company screwed up for the poor artist who sculpted them, and they recieved a load of bubbly c-grade, being generous, casts which they then sold as fixer-uppers - I underestimated the job/overestimated my skills/the quality of the resin). Then the nearly from scratch build doll that was acquired years ago as a set of hollow tubes and joints that weren't anything resembling a humanoid that's been stuck at, this sculpting decision will be permanent, thus I'm not sure what way to commit, step. Irritatingly this one's gone from a literal stick figure to passably humanoid but face decisions have it permanently in the 'to do' area.
My goals are: 1: Get back in to the hobby!!! I really miss being in the hobby and being able to display and talk about my dolls so this year my goal is to become active again in the hobby and really enjoy it! 2: Get face ups/body brushing for my boys. My poor babies have been without colour and in their boxes for a few years, so it’s time for their characters to finally finish coming alive (at least in face up and body brushing) 3: Buy two new dolls - I have my eye on a RingDoll that will fit perfectly in my little circus/fantasy group for my story and I keep promising to buy my ResinSoul boy a friend. 4: Learn how to sew, make wigs and craft! Time to stop being so scared to make mistakes and learn!!! 5: Have fun!!
Hmm, I have a few plans this year. Nothing as big as last year, because most of last year's list did not get completed... 1. Get YoSD Ayu and/or Yua from Volks. 1a. Get hands, clothes, and shoes for the Yos. Probably new wigs and eyes as well. 2. Get lots of PS Fair SDM hands... 3. Figure out a look for my SDM-F-30. New wig maybe? 4. Doll stands. Many of them. 5. Get a DD 2.0 body. Whether or not this will come with a head is undecided... 6. Hope for more online FCS from Volks USA... 7. A couple new wigs for my DD girls. Probably Cotindoll. 8. Doll profiles for everyone... complete profiles. 9. Maybe an SDGr girl (not Mācha or Yumepi) if there's a release I like. 10. Order an SD-F-100 and SD-F-117 FCS via proxy. Elves needed in this household.
Here's what I wish for this year: - more work on current dolls (faceup+blush, tattoos, modifications, jewelry, minor repairs - almost everyone needs something...) - finish the layway for Neil's body (and dye it?) - start really planning my dioramas for SDs (meh... maybe next year...) - not to stress if things don't turn out as expected because it doesn't help anything (while faceups first of all) - try to make a mohair wig for Tash (combined technique) - move towards better photo compositions, better DOF, better post-production - shoot and write the second part of Rei's story (one day...) - be satisfied if at least half of this list is successful - buy jointed hands for Rei (???)
I love posts like this! It's validating for me to see a lot of my goals reflected in other people's lists. It helps me be a little more understanding with myself to read that so many of us struggle with "no new dolls," for example. So I have four broad goals in 2025: 1. Make a dedicated crafting space, and keep it clean. This is so I can do face-ups and make wigs, and also so I can make the space to learn to sew. My favorite way to interact with my collection is to redress them, and if I learn to sew, I could have a lot more outfits 2. Attend a local doll meet! 3. Work on some display solutions so I can enjoy more of my collection. 4. Acquisitions Goal: Buy LESS than NINE resin BJD dolls, new bodies, or new heads. Prioritize buying the one that I've been wanting for almost 2 years, and bodies to complete the floating heads I have. And I would like to stop buying so many similar heads/bodies, some more variety would be nice. (But even then, part of me is going, are you sure? Haha)
I’m determined to make dolls I’m really passionate about this year! I have 2 partially customized from a book series I love (Holly Black’s folk of the air and modern faerie tales series) with 1 other I’d love to acquire and complete. I also have several original characters I would love to shell and customize. My most ambitious project is a Minotaur doll. I have a body on layaway, and plans to 3D sculpt a cow head (Greek steppe cattle, specifically), as well as a replica of a Minoan bull head sculpture I really love. Ancient Greece is one of my biggest interests, and I’d love to make period appropriate clothes and accessories, as well as furniture or instruments. We’ll see how much I really get done lol. I think I need to take it slower and focus on 1-2 projects at a time, rather than diving head first into a bunch. I just can’t help it! My obsession with avatar has also been rekindled, and it’s taking everything in me to not get a doll to customize as a na’vi. One thing at a time!! Lolol So- to organize my thoughts: Focus on projects; Finish book series dolls, fully customize Minotaur doll, and shell some OCs- maybe 2-3 Try my hand at 3D sculpting; If that doesn’t go to plan, I’ll likely commission someone Details details details; miniatures, dioramas, clothing, etc. I want everyone to feel fully fleshed out. I want to work on craftsmanship with wigs and eyes. Don’t leap head first into every project that excites me. Remain active and interested! I sway in and out of the hobby, and always really miss it when I’m not actively participating. I want to make an effort to stay active in whatever way I can, and I think focusing on small details will keep me there. Paint more dolls! Faceups are my favorite thing to do in the hobby, hands down. I might try to do some commissions; we’ll see! I should also curate some nicer supplies. For big projects I want to start, I like the idea of customizing a small doll (like a monster high) to 1.) get it out of my system, and 2.) see how I feel about the project before moving to resin. I have plans to do this with my na’vi dolls- I’ll customize some cheap dolls, see if I like the visuals, and see if that sparks me to get resin dolls for them, or if little versions are enough!
1. Make it to the June doll convention so I can take a million pics 2. Redo face ups for meet which also means a new wig to make it I take more than one. 3. Find clothes that fit each character at meet 4. Socks socks socks 5. Get rid of the feminine clothes that didn't work on tomboys to boys. 6. Find a new pastel alien girl?
I actually fell out of working on my dolls for quite a long time now (maybe four years or so) and I've already started sewing some new outfits for my dolls and bought some new shoes for them. Now that I've done that I've felt a lot more relieved and accomplished, like I did something nice for my kids or something haha. For the rest of this year I'd love to make a few more outfits I had ideas for, and also take way more pictures or maybe take my dolls out somewhere and do a photoshoot for once. That'd be fun.
I dont want to make a thread but for the people who adding sewing more to their 2025 to do list, apparently many Joanns are closing across the country. That is so sad, aint no way im supporting hobby lobby.
This year I'll be getting my first 1/4 scale dolls and my first resin doll (DZ Snow) so I really want to get more in photography for her!
I get a lot of my material from Walmart. It doesn't have as much variety as Joanne's, and I am lucky that the Joanne's near me is not one of the stores closing. But Walmart is a great place to get fabrics like cotton, and jersey, and poly blends.
I'm mostly working on my doll display area and doll maintenance this year. They're getting all new shelving units and I'm finally buying some doll stands for them. I've also been working on restringing, redressing, brushing wigs, discovering some wigs have lost their elastic stretchiness... If I actually thought I'd get around to it, I'd say I'd be working on a couple of mods and redoing a couple of face ups this year as well, but we'll see if there's time for that after everything else.
My plan for 2025 is to not buy any more dolls. It's the same as last year; no new dolls in 2024, when I bought 5 dolls and a body. Also similar to previous years, since I have too many dolls. This year, I'm also not going to look at new dolls. Hope it works.
I'm not planning on buying dolls - don't know how tariffs will play out, so I'm going to wait and see how this will affect prices. That said I'm waiting on a couple that I bought last year. I've already picked up some DIY furniture, so I have glueing, painting, and sewing in my future. I'll continue sewing and hopefully get into a little more design for doll clothes and see how far I can go with that. I'd love to make something good enough that I'd feel comfortable selling eventually.
Alright, let’s rock and roll out some doll plans: To face up: -Jinx (soon breccia) -Deceit (peaksoods poison red boy) -Pandora (redo?) -The miracle maker (redo current face doesn’t suit) -Tassian needs a redo they look a little silly -Sin (if I keep her as Dollshe Erica) -Molly (once mods are finished) -Fierna (once she’s dyed) -Azerin (once she’s dyed) -Anastasia (possible redo so that she looks meaner) -oriel (if dyed/bodied) In Need Of Dye -Fierna (once body arrives and is modded) -Azerin (once head arrives and body is modded) -Oriel (if body gets ordered any time soon) Mod list: -finish Acyra project -finish Pardalis project -Fierna’s chest enhancement (once body arrives) -Azerin’s chest resculpt (I tried to resist but the default sculpting is just not detailed!) -smooth and colour match Syn’s boobs -repair mod on Molly when? -more wing mods than I want to shake a stick at. -horns for all your hellspawn, whether you’re sculpting them or buying them horns. I am choosing not to make a joke about the 9 hells being horny here. Clothing??? -make at least one dress for Lavinia -find something sufficiently military for Mephistopheles so he isn’t naked -make crochet chain mail for all the lords of hell (and their relevant children) -The shrike armour project needs to at least be started instead of just buying fabric and calling that progress. -learn to sew so you can make exact outfits from the books you’re writing (wrath’s intro outfit, some of Val’s performing clothes) -both Sonnet and Addi have a strong need for a narratively significant leather jacket that I do not currently own. Also Anastasia’s cross-jacket needs to get made Buying: -any fairyland msd feathered wings that befall me (esp in black and white) -possibly a couple sets of FL’s demon f65 wings for Nira/Acyra -possibly resinsoul feathered wings as well bc they are nice -Eden’s body via Telesthesia -Dispater (Ringdoll alpha, possibly) -Bodies for Acanthus, Kora and Deceit, from Resinsoul -oriel’s body, either from resinsoul or DFH? -Death’s body, if an appropriate body comes up for sale anywhere. I don’t know what it should look like, but I’ll probably come up with something once Sin is on her new body, and that’s all resolved. -a body for Tass, after Wrath swiped their last body so quickly (jeez) -appropriate wigs for pandora and the miracle maker -probably not all this this year, but I gotta put it somewhere to see what comes home when!
I haven't been able to do much doll related for a few years in a row, had to store everyone for a while then when I finally had space to bring them out I money got tight. My number one goal is to just properly get back into the hobby! Upgraded doll display. I'd like to get a shelf in my craft room dedicated to my dolls so I can give them some breathing room and set up more attractive displays. It's getting crowded in the little nook I currently keep them in, and the space is too short to display almost anyone standing. A body for my floating head. I want to get face ups for my remaining dolls who don't have them, my partner has been trying their hand at face-ups so I'm assigning them this goal. Several still don't have their own dedicated clothes to wear, so I plan to do quite a bit of sewing throughout the year. The goal is one full outfit each! I have I think three or four left to do Buy wigs and shoes for those who need them. I didn't used to care about shoes but it's recently started bothering me as I've finished more outfits. I should probably tackle some restringing, I've got one or two who need it VERY badly. Finally, I want to keep a closer eye on doll releases this year. I missed a few releases I REALLY liked over the last few years that I'm still watching for on the secondhand market (looking at you Dream Valley Apocalypse Horseman). I'm planning to be picky about who I bring home though. No more floating heads without planned bodies! No crazy lofty goals, but I think it's a good start for getting back into things, and I think they're all achievable.
I've had some time to think about what my main goals for 2025 are, and in general these are mine: - Work on face ups for my current and incoming dolls, one doll needs to be redone. - I really slacked on sewing and now I realized I really need more outfits. So this year I want to sew my doll some clothes, at least one complete outfit. - I really want to make at least one wig I'm happy with, will definitely require more attempts. - I have a doll I really want to rebody, not sure how hard this is going to be but it would be nice to get this one crossed off this year. And I think that pretty much sums it up!
- Take more photos of all of my dolls! I have a new lens coming in that should be a good dolly portrait lens, and I just got some lights Gotta start working on some props and backgrounds. - Take good photos of all of the stuff I want to sell and actually list it - Sew Leonie's character outfit - Get a change of clothes and new shoes for Angie. Also a rain coat, if I can find one. - MAYBE get another doll? I don't really feel a strong need for one, but I may be tempted by another iMda tan girl. I might just also get an RC airplane instead. Fun hobby and a great prop for my girls.
Have now decided we don't need any more dolls. But I also said that last year. My first Dollfie Dream will be 5 years old in October. What I'd really like to do this year is to make a diaorama for photo opportunities. We're also going to get out more and attend some conventions. We're hopefully going to Dolly Day in September, and it would be great to take somebody (probably Miku) to an anime convention. Also Aqua's definitely going to into rehab.
Welp. It's near the end of March and we're a quarter of the way through 2025, so I thought it would be good to have a look at the initial list I made, and see how things are going. Spoiler because it's kinda long lol... Spoiler Move along: I've been putting off finishing the inventory of what I have in my Doom Piles. It's just so much work, omg. Continue being mindful of doll purchases: I think I did okay with this. I didn't order any dolls in January, but I did order a lot of doll things. I'm at peace with the purchases, as they fall into the category of 'upgrades' -- eyes, wigs, clothing -- for dolls that I wanted these things for. I ordered two dolls from Luts in February, but I had the purchase under consideration for almost 2 months before committing. I didn't want to regret not getting them, as Luts has discontinued that particular doll line (Baby Delf). I almost faltered with Fairyland's re-release of some older Minifee heads in their Sarang event, but I think the heads will be available for a while after the event, so I could purchase a tan Eliya at some other point in time. I have plenty of ideas for her, but I'm more focused on a few dolls that have been home for years. Continue crafting for my dolls: I did a lot in Q1, and I'm pretty proud of myself! I updated several of my self-drafted patterns for better fit, printing resolution, line work, fonts, etc. I also drafted some new patterns. I sewed quite a few things for my big Iplehouse girls, a few items for Luts Baby Delf, and I'm currently working simultaneously on updating my patterns for my Iple JID girls and a pattern for a top for my SartoriaJ girl. Reorganize doll cabinet: Not a whole lot of action has happened here, other than identifying issues and beginning planning on solutions. Such as a new solution for storing and protecting extra hands and feet; I discovered a broken finger with my current storage. The current storage also should probably be moved elsewhere to facilitate the rearrangement of the cabinet shelves. I also realized that I might have to design and make my own doll stands because I absolutely cannot find anything that I like that will fit my Iple chonks. I'm currently in the design phase of this, and once I source some hardware I can start prototyping. Reorganize fabric closet: I did an initial organize and quick purge of my stash in January, but not really much else. I did successfully keep the closet tidy-ish since then by putting away items when I was done with them. And I also identified that I can free up some space that's being taken up by a box of crochet thread by adding some wall-mounted storage to the wall next to the closet. That's been added to my 'To Do' list, and will come after other organizational items that I deem more important (upgrades for my new desk). Catalog collection: I have not touched this, other than adding some stray CoAs that I found into the container that I've been keeping those, manuals, and other paperwork in. Maybe I'll manage to do something soon! Maintenance: I managed to hot glue suede a couple of dolls, but I still have several to go! A few need some tightening or maybe a full restring. I also worked on a couple of stain prevention solutions: long boot 'socks' for my big Iplehouse girls, and a wig cap liner for my dolls with head sizes from 8-10". I had a gross encounter with the inner lining of a tall boot peeling off and sticking to one of my doll's legs, so it was definitely time to get with it and protect legs/feet from staining. The liner I made is meant to be hand stitched to the inside of black or dark-colored wig caps. I have several dolls that have wigs with black caps, and a few have had some staining over the years on their heads and the backs of their ears. Hoping these solutions work out! Upgrades: Quite a bit has happened in this category! I received a new wig that was perfect for one of my dolls that was due for a new one; and reworked an existing wig with some patching, trimming, and styling for another. I sent a few dolls off for faceups, so my Faceup Queue is clear. I also ordered eye options for several dolls, some worked out, and some didn't. So additional attempts are being made as time goes on for the ones that didn't work out. I also made new fur wigs for my Iplehouse Storm, Evan, and Akando, but they still need styling. All in all, I believe I'm doing well with my goals/plans. There are some things I should probably give more attention, like moving things along or cataloging my collection. But I think the important thing is that I'm having fun and enjoying my dolls. A cool thing I'm also learning to do is to let go of perfection, especially when it comes to sewing. It's been really freeing to simplify some of my patterns to make them easier to assemble. In some cases, doing this also makes the finished item easier to get onto a doll.
