- Keep track of humidity and actually get some faces on these dolls. - Find at least one pair of shoes for all the characters who wear shoes. - Get clothes for the characters in loaner outfits. Make clothes for the characters who have specific outfits / are an unusual size. No more tucking some fabric around a doll and calling it good enough. - Write down list of dolls I'm interested in. Put out WTBs as needed. - Buy body for Erda. - Dolly dye day. Two have faded weird, one is the wrong color, one is going to need some kind of complicated gradient once I get his body. (All dolls are roughly the same color it's just one big dye bath I have to make.) - Paint the unfinished doll furniture and make cushions. - Find the two dolls I need to get to round out the trios. Make plans on when to acquire. (I have two character trios that need their third member.)
– MOST IMPORTANTLY: continue my eternal quest to bring Dollzone Keai home . . . and hopefully succeed this year! – Sell the two I've not bonded with so they can find homes where they're properly loved! – Touch up Miyou's body blush. – Send Niella off for a faceup and work on acquiring/making the clothes I want for his look so he can stop wearing that oversized cat ears hoodie and socks with no pants. – Continue working on my sewing skills. – Take WAY more photos!
-Sew more clothes & do more accessories for my dolls, never enough lol -Re-do some face ups and add some details on bodies -Build and/or buy some new doll furniture -Save up for one tiny & one sd body -Organize my doll clothes and craft supplies better, now everything is in different places
I don't often make New Years' Resolutions, since I've usually blown them sky high before the end of January. Maybe I'll do better with these, though! Projects : - Find out what the doll my boyfriend is getting me for Christmas is, then go from there. (All I know is he's a boy and his name is Damian) - Send Rachel, Jack, Claudia, Vivi, Sami, Damian, and Zen to get faceups - Do body blushing, tattooing, piercings, scars, etc. on the entire crew Buy: - Zen (RS Dai) - Wardrobes for Damian and Zen - Collin's new wig (or Cory's, it depends) - All the clothes/shoes/accessories on my list for the rest of my crew Make: - So many clothes. So, SO many... - Jewelry for Damian and Zen - Wedding rings for a few in my RP group What Not To Do: - Buy ANY more dolls after Zen!!
- New faceup for Mel - New body blushing - More new dolls----Volks Kohya and Tohya - Learn how to make resin eyes
Verona's eyelash started falling off in the last week so my goal for next year is to glue it back on! Update (4/9/2024): Verona's eyelash is glued back on and he is BACK IN ACTION
Step Number 1: Get my personal office in order! Not only do I need not-doll related things (bookshelves being top priority) but my "office" is a bedroom with a somewhat decent sized walk-in closet that I'd like to install shelves in for my dolls. Actually get them out of their boxes, set them up in little staged areas! Other than that: -I have about 4 dolls needing faceup. One is half done, I've just been massively procrastinating on her tattoos. -One doll needs a body that I've been telling myself I'd buy for her for, oh, a year and a half and then I ended up getting tempted by X fullset and Y fullset and Z fullset... I've bought a lot of fullsets this last year and a half lol -I'd like to repaint the first doll I ever painted. Just because. -And after all that, if funds permit, one or two new ones for character shells! I have the dolls in mind, it's just a matter of having the funds available (isn't it always lol)
Elevate mine and my dolls fashion sense get the MSDs the bodies they need - why does feel so challenging? (2 little monica, 1 Foveo) make more money Continue TRYING to improve my faceups plan and EXECUTE a big valentines photo shoot for my doll couples.
ah ha ha ha ha ha. I'm not going to look at 2023's goals. I know I flopped. But... hope springs eternal, right? Goal: Craftorama room. Craftorama room. I MUST put together Craftorama room. This will involve moving out of Craftorama's planned room (we sleep there now), maybe a little painting, consolidating and moving all my doll/toy/sewing/craft crap into the room, and setting up stations - sewing, airbrush, face-ups/crafting, and photography corner. Plan: spend a little time every day doing at least one thing towards Craftorama room. Pitching a box, moving a thing, something. Hopeful completion date: June (?) 2024 Goal: Wall of Doll - re-do office so that one full wall is lined with shelves that I can display most of my dolls on. This will involve pulling everything out of the office, moving all the furniture around, repainting, removing the horrible wall border, putting up a mural, putting up curtains or covering the windows in some sort of peel-screen, and installing shelves. Plan: same as Craftorama room - do one thing every day. It can be big or small, but I want to do one thing towards completion. Hopeful completion date: Also June 2024, as Spouse and I will likely be doing both at once. Goal: no new doll/clothes/wigs/shoes pre-orders/purchases until Black Friday of 2024, with one exception - if Impldoll releases a new 68 cm female body. I'm still spiteful. Plan: SPITE. It will carry me through. Editing to add: This may get pushed back to Xmas 2024. The sales that have popped off lately have really fueled the spite. Hooooo boy, am I spiteful right now... Adding one more goal: Goal: cataloging my collection. Plan: airtable listing of dolls with links to original listings, saving PDF printouts of website sales, and making little charms to put on each doll with numbers to match the listings in my document. Heh. That's plenty for now. I'll revisit as I go.
2023's goal was Buy Less Dolls. I failed miserably at that. 2024 - Knowing I will always buy doll, or at least want to, my current goal is a faceup for all my faceless dolls. -- oh and maybe heads for my floating bodies. - A working iron + Improve at sewing. - Finish a 3D sculpt of a head, and see if I can't pay friendos to print it.
Get a body for my floating heads Faceups for them Accessories for them… Maybe a new one here or there
1) Learn to do my own face ups 2) Acquire certain Wigs, clothing, eyes and accessories that my existing crew needs to be "fleshed out". 3) Get into a place where my dolls don't have to live in plastic tubs 24/7 4)Add no more than 1 new member of the crew per year (Yeah, not likely, but I can try)
My goals will definitely be to properly look through all the doll stuff I own I need to sell some random gift heads and resin I've gathered over the years, and do a thorough "spring cleaning" of the clothes and wigs that have not been used for a long time. Not yet sure if I'll buy new dolls, since I have one doll coming already. But they all definitely need maintenance! Some cleaning, fresh coat of varnish and new strings will surely do them a lot of good. Overall goal is to revive my interest in dolls, even if it'll be something small like taking pictures again and be excited about the ladies I have.
I don't think I ended up meeting a lot of my goals for 2023 (except for finding a wig for Leonie - knocked that one out of the park), but it was more because I didn't buy stuff vs. spending too much. So, that's okay in my books. For 2024 I wanna take it slow. 1. Take more photos of Leonie! She's got a lot of cute stuff now, so I gotta start taking her on more hikes. 2. Figure out my Heeah's character. She was supposed to be the character from my sci-fi novella, but that hasn't been super successful as far as finding character-appropriate outfits has been. I tried to sell her and couldn't really bring myself to put in the effort, since she's so pretty, so I guess she's staying and that means she needs to stop sitting nekkid in her box. I think I'm going to stick with her being a tomboy and get her a little letterman jacket. 3. Dolly acquisitions... I haven't bought a doll for 3 years, maybe this year will be the year? I have a lot of things (wigs, eyes, shoes) already waiting for another iMda girl (unless I want this character as an MSD?) or a Withdoll Parker. Maybe I can get an Iple FID friend for Heeah. I'm also perpetually searching for a doll to fit my character Peppermint, but he's been... elusive.
This is just a list of things I need to do, not necessarily next year. Basically whenever I'm not too busy with work haha. Receive my incoming Ricia and outfit her (faceup, wig, I've already gotten a jump on clothing and accessories) Give Reuben (mnf Spring '17) a refresh - new faceup, wig, and clothing Make Quinn (mnf Celine) a couple of new outfits Ideally re-body Margot (f60 Soony '14), though that's more of a long-term goal Make Jeong Je (LS Wei Huo Hu) a modern ensemble. He's currently a historical South Korean character but I'd love to have a modern version of him Give Bastien (Crobidoll Yeonho) a refresh - new wig and clothing I plan to buy a boyfriend for Quinn from my sister, definitely planning on that early next year I think that's about it! Quite a few of these are pretty simple as long as I have time and energy for creativity next year, so I'm hopeful.
Ahhh, another year... Some goals centred around LA Dolpa, assuming I'm able to attend - Figure out who to bring with me, and potentially make them an outfit for whatever contest theme is announced. - Save up for Dolpa one-offs may Mother SD be kind to me... - Get new wigs for 3 dolls, and new eyes for one. - Complete doll stories and lore for each individual doll. Most of them are about halfway there, at least. - No new DDs, aside from a tan MDD 2.0 in summer. - More SDs, particularly an SD17 Williams pre-2025 lol. - New outfits for everyone. Increase the shoe hoard as well. NEVER enough doll shoes - Redress dolls at least once every other month! I was pretty bad about that this year... But why change outfit when doll so cute... - Build a large wooden shelf/display case with my father. - Finish getting one of each omukae outfit, regardless of size I think that's most of it. Unless Dolpa 51 has some absolute can't miss release, or anyone very special pops up secondhand, I plan for most purchases to be October or later.
BJD Resolutions for 2024?! Im all for this! Here's mine: -Commission a new faceup for my SDC Arashi -Purchase my first tiny for my collection (I said I would never do this... now Im doing it.) -Add at least one more of my grails to my collection. -Find and attend at least one doll meetup in my area! -Get better at taking pictures of my dolls. -Stop being afraid to go out in public with them!
I think that in a nutshell, my goal for 2024 is "leaving the hobby." It's been the center of my life since 2010, and even though it took a long time I think it taught me many things I wanted to know, provided enrichment and achieved what I hoped (As well as eventually causing and being part of a lot of unhappiness) I feel things have moved someplace else. That being said, I don't plan to stop having dolls or interacting when I feel like it... I just feel like I have begun to significantly move on. I don't really want to "meet" any new characters in my collection, rather I still want to have fewer. Their excess company is exhausting. Although I could see myself spending money to improve the ones remaining when the time is right, I am content enough with them how they are in the moment, my little friends. Its been fun, and a lot of work. Hopefully I will get to see how how all the work I put into them can move into other creative projects again.
I'm not going to say sell a few or buy fewer because I always fail at those goals, but for me: 1. Buy one more Billy bookcase for display. I need to do this before the end of January since Ikea is discontinuing the 5% off for Ikea Family members. 2. Commission faceups for everyone who is staying. 3. Better wig organization 4. Spend more time with my dolls!
Sigh... OK, Impldoll. TWO 68 cm bodies. Impldoll on Instagram: "Muscle Female Body coming soon. #impldoll #bjd #bjddoll #bjdphoto #bjdphotography #bjdmakeup #bjdfaceup #dollmakeup #dollfaceup #dollpainting #fashiondolls #impldollbody #balljointeddoll #doll #dolls"
Also in no particular order: Stop being a chicken and re-string Scarecrow Finish Krux's body blushing and tattoos etc. Speaking of Krux, get him proper clothes and possibly even his red sunglasses he's supposed to have (anyone ever seen round (sun)glasses either in red or clear for 70cm+ boy?) Take the dolls out more and take more photos of them. Then actually POST THOSE PHOTOS Decide on style and personality for my newest addition, Genesis, ideally before she comes And actually finish her styling quicker this time Get Genesis a proper pair of eyes Get each of my dolls at least one more outfit Start saving up or get a layaway for a shell for my character Sybille without getting distracted by other random sculpts Maybe get Mortimer a body but that's just me being optimistic at this point haha
1. I will make a blog for my iconic idoru Rei Toei - almost done 2. I'll get a tattoos and a better faceup for my bad guy Cliff 3. I'll write and shoot the second part of my key/root dolls story 4. I will paint all my dolls that don't have a face yet 5. I will get wigs for C.C. and Tashan 6. I'll take pictures of Rei and Roux's wedding in May (including picking out wedding dresses and making wedding table) 7. I'll make an exoskeleton for Roux 8. I'll finally make Rei an android with a human heart. 9. I'll start working on a diorama/roombox 10. I won't worry if I can't do any of this due to circumstances
My plans for 2024 are... 1. Doll goal... To receive all the dolls I preordered in 2023. When the last doll is home, then spend at least 4 months "resting" - basically focus on my current crew, and not buying or waiting for any dolls. In other words, I don't want to buy anymore dolls in 2024, but "resting from buying for 4 months" feels more doable than an outright "no buying dolls!!!!" ban. (Mar) I broke this goal! I preordered a doll head, so my no-buy lasted 2 months. But I'm getting right back onto the wagon! (May) Behaving myself. (Aug) I bought secondhand resin -- because I wanted an alt head for an existing doll. So it doesn't count for not-buying resin. Otherwise I'm behaving myself, but it's been hard -- so many tempting new dolls! (Nov) Still sticking to no-buy despite the temptations. I've received all my outstanding dolls (including March's buy), but I want to buy a new doll right after that. I guess the original goal is a fail, but it's been a very helpful target to aim for. -- 2. Photography goal... Set up the "flight studio" and do at least 2 photoshoots with it. I have a dream to take photoshoots of my dolls in action and fighting poses, especially of the flying/wuxia kind. Back in 2022 I already tested a proof-of-concept that works, so I want to push the concept further. This was a 2023 goal but I never got around to it, so I wanna do it for real in 2024.(Mar) No action yet, but I have a work break coming up and plan to tackle this goal. (May) Took a few photos, but there are too many constraints in my setup and it's not viable. I've abandoned this project and won't do 2 photoshoots, but I did what I intended to do and learned some things. I reflected on this in my BJD blog. GOAL COMPLETED. (Nov) I've been using doll stands for posing, in a different way to my original idea, and I think I managed to get my flight studio after all. So it's a success? -- 3a. Sewing goal... I want to learn some "basics" pieces: pants (already done), a few types of tops, skirt and/or dress, socks, and maybe one piece of outerwear. Enough that I can make simple casual clothes for my whole crew and not have to buy them anymore. This will probably take most of the year - if I make progress on this but don't get to the other sewing goal, I'll be happy enough. (Jan) Did a kimono sewing speedrun in January, but no action on this goal yet. (May) More sewing done, getting closer to actioning on this goal. (Aug) Finally started on this goal by sewing a button-down shirt. (Sep) Ended up learning a bunch of patterns: T-shirt, swim trunks, a hanbok-type coat. Also did a ton more sewing. Still more casual clothes to learn! But I might be able to achieve my sewing stretch goal after all... (Nov) I learned how to sew socks and stockings, which is a significant goal of mine. Still time in the year left to learn a few more things, but I think I can call it completed. ^^ GOAL COMPLETED 3b. Sewing stretch goal... Apply those basics patterns to sew one complete cosplay outfit for a doll, and do a photoshoot with them. I have a couple cosplay ideas in mind that feel doable for a newbie sewist like me. (Nov) Haven't done anything about this yet, but there's a couple more months left in the year! Plenty of time. XD -- 4. Faceup goal... Start offering faceup commissions, maybe? I love painting faceups on my dolls and I want to improve. I think the best way is to offer commissions to my local community, but I'm a bit hesitant - impostor syndrome, etc. Still deciding if I want to do this.(Feb/Mar) Painted/repainted my own dolls. I have less free time this year, so I'll probably drop the faceup commission goal. (Apr) GOAL ABANDONED. -- 5. Make a static website for my doll profiles. I already have my own BJD blog which has been great, but I want a separate website for BJD info that doesn't really suit a blog. (Mar) GOAL COMPLETED. I made my doll profile website! Hyperfocus is great. 5a. Stretch goal: I have more pages in mind for the doll website, so the stretch goal is to make those. (May) Added a few new pages already. I still have things I want to add, and won't have an issue maintaining my doll website. GOAL COMPLETED.
I have a few goals that are all over the place: 1. Sell atleast one doll. Maybe two. 2. Buy more shoes and underwear. I always focus on clothes but what I really need is undies and shoes. . . Maybe ill learn how to sew underwear? 3. Have a head painted by a faceup artist. I'm always afraid to send out a head because I dont trust the postal system but I really want to have one of my dolls head painted. 4. Make a guide on which yarn I think is best for making doll wigs.
Mine are extremely basic: - Buy a Unoa Lusis - Put together at least one complete outfit for her - Take pics - Make a doll profile here Pretty doable, barring any unexpected financial setbacks
My goals for next year include 1. sell all floating heads you don’t seriously plan on getting bodies for. This is highly dependent on the market, so no probablement if it doesn’t get done, but if possible I’d like it done. 2. stop buying new dolls and start saving money for a house you can store your dolls in. I’m gonna leave room for 1-2 new dolls next year because I’ve never been any good at abstinence 3. do faceups on all your blank dolls, and/or redos on some of the dolls that need redoing. This will be Nuia when she comes in, Anastasia when she comes in and really no one else, because you’ve actually stayed caught up on faceups 4. finish the Acyra project. Thats tail, wings and dye job that need doing on her. Maybe a cranium reduction on her head. 5. finish the Vidania project—whether that’s her new body or her original body, get her done please. 6. finish the Shrike masks, and start on the shrike armour. My goal is to have the armour done for just Shrike by the end of the year, even if that doesn’t sound super plausible
Goals for 2024: - Setup an etsy(?) shop to motivate myself to do more crafting. - change dresses of all my dolls ( by sewing / buying) - start selling the wigs I already made XD - make more photos of my creations on insta. - sell floating heads that are stashed in my drawer and never taken out xD
UPDATE Something struck me yesterday that I hadn't thought about, and I feel very silly. I have an epic poem with a pantheon of deities that I love dearly. These OCs are some of my favorites I've ever created. I've always been a bit jealous of people who have such clearly defined characters for their dolls; up till now, I've been buying dolls without clear goals for their characters. When I realized I had characters patiently sitting around waiting to get made into something special, I nearly had a panic attack from sheer excitement they were there all along for me to use! So 2024 plans are going to be a bit different than what I was planning initially. The Housekeeping and Crafting stuff is generally the same with some additions to them, but the Buying and Selling is different. The updated goals are below. Updated Goals CRAFTING Sewing My main focus is getting comfortable with the basics before getting too fancy. I conquered pants last year, so now I need to figure out blouses. Aquire more solid color fabrics for doll clothing!!! Crochet: Keep practicing pattern scaling and pattern creation. WRITE THAT SHIT DOWN; FUTURE ME WILL THANK PAST ME Photography: I brought ye Olde DSLR out of storage, so hopefully I'll feel drawn to really learning how to use it so my doll photos look better! Learn to properly restring! Complete Star Child and Moon Baby Xaga Doll project BEFORE shelling epic poem chatacters SHELLING EPIC POEM CCHARACTERS Complete the physical appearance lore for existing deity characters (and maybe Xander) Sort through current collection, and assign new roles (if applicable) Who do I currently have that can be recreated to fit the poem characters? Do I want to keep non-poem characters; if so, who? Don't sell anyone until I know for sure they won't fit any ccharacter. Work on shelling with the dolls I currently have. Faceups (if needed) Clothing/Shoes Wigs Eyes Props Do research on sculpts/bodies/wigs/eyes/etc. for characters I don't have dolls for. Avoid buying any new dolls until there's a clear plan! BUYING Faceups and Body Blushing for my Star Child and Moon Baby Xaga Dolls (I will be sending them off for someone else to bring my vision to life, so that project journal has changed scope a bit) Body for Myou Doll Lingwei floating head (likely to be Andreot) SELLING That one anime doll I never play with (Guard Love Lillie) Dolls like my Doll Leaves Amara who don't have a place in either of the non-poem or poem based collections. HOUSEKEEPING Technically completed this one yesterday when all my plastic tubs arrived. My dolls and their accessories are living in plastic shoeboxes and larger tubs in various closets around the house. Keep up the good work, me! I've started a nice document with all doll information in it, and now I need to fill it up. That includes receipts, purchase dates, and even character traits for poem and non-poem characters. Whatever I may need to reference for whatever reason should be at my fingertips in an easily accessible format. Don't be afraid to use that one thread that was suggested to me. That about wraps up my updated thoughts! I'll probably fudge with this more later, but for now, here's my ideas. I think this will be more than enough to keep me busy through the year Original Post I went into 2023 without any solid plans. However, things are vastly different from when I got into the hobby in March of 2022, and I am feeling an urge to overcomplicate things for my further enjoyment. Let's see what I can cook up for some goals Crafting Sewing My main focus is getting comfortable with the basics before getting too fancy. I conquered pants last year, so now I need to figure out blouses. Aquire more solid color fabrics for doll clothing!!! Crochet: Keep practicing pattern scaling and pattern creation. WRITE THAT SHIT DOWN; FUTURE ME WILL THANK PAST ME Learn to properly re-string!!! Buying Body for Myou Doll Lingwei floating head Finish faceups for my Sun/Moon themed Xaga Dolls (I will be sending them off for someone else to bring my vision to life, so that project journal is going to be abandoned) General wishlist that doesn't all need purchased in 2024: Maskat doll mature tinies (Feline and Joy)/Xaga Doll mature tinies aka "1/6 Slim" (not sure on sculpts yet)/more Gem of Doll YoSD (so Amorette and Vivian aren't so lonely) Body blushing on mature dolls (let's focus on the 2 mature tinies: Blair and Taliah; then we asses where we are with time and money) Selling That one anime doll I never play with Not sure who else, but I probably will want to thin the collection some more because I *think* I know what I like (finally). Housekeeping For the love of all that is holy, figure out a better doll display and storage solution! That means clothing, shoes, wigs, eyes, etc all need homes as well. I've got some of an idea for remedying the situation, but it will take some more pondering. Start a nice document with all doll information in it. That includes receipts, purchase dates, and even character traits. Whatever I may need to reference for whatever reason should be at my fingertips in an easily accessible format.Currently, I have a pathetic little general list of current dolls only on my phone, but that's not nearly as rigorous as I need it to be. Well now, I'd say that's a pretty decent list. I figure it isn't in order. It'll be nice to revisit every few months and see what progress I've made (if any lol)
re Housekeeping, item 1: Dollar store shoe boxes. Plastic, with lids, for cheap, and perfect for organizing wigs and clothes. For floating heads, I use sock organizers (with a sock for padding). Put a sticker on the top and front and sort by size. Yes, I have enough wigs to fill several boxes, why do you ask? I have also started re-using some of those massive, non-recyclable massive boxes my dolls came in to hold stuff. I use the padded one from Unoa Alchemy/Alchemic Labo to hold heel legs. Also - those little plastic organizers with removable slots are perfect for hands, feet, and eyeballs. Use stickers to label so you know what belongs to whom. Document of doll information - I highly recommend the Cataloging Your Collection? thread.
Ah you are always so helpful! The shoe box thing will be perfect since I have to use plastic tubs for everything thanks to the old farmhouse I live in being prone to attracting mice. I've been using large 64qt tubs plus plastic baggies for storing dolls/accessories because I had them on hand and its just not ideal. For one, you can't sort things like that very well and all the clothing gets wrinkled. The shoe boxes though seem so much more manageable (despite the sheer number I may need lol)! From a quick browse of the thread, this is exactly the kind of guidance I would need for making such an inventory! Thank you so much!!
Oooo goals for 2024... I want to see if I can do a faceup on my incoming puyoodoll myself, if not I'll hire someone. It would be nice to complete her in 2024. Otherwise, my goal is to take more pictures of my dolls! They're lovely and I need to practice using my DSLR.
I have a few things I'd like to do Mostly related to getting my dolls that I own now set up, make my own custom wigs sew some custom clothing (I need to pattern on my own...which is not something I look forward too) finished faceups (on that note I want to improve some more...) I dont foresee myself buying another doll this year unless my grail doll shows up, or one of the last dolls I want for my collection gets discontinued. I'm still going to put 'keep purchases to a minimum' as a goal this year.
Hmm, I think my plans for next year mostly look like this: Get most of the crew presentable (finish outfits, get new wigs and eyes, finally give them all names...) Finish my first attempt at wig making, consider a second attempt depending on results Start researching bodies for a hybridizing project Invest in a halfway decent light and make more of an effort to take pictures Maybe start a diorama!
Sell at least 3 dolls this year Stick to my one in, one out rule to slow down on buying Buy more furniture and props instead of dolls Find my dream outfit/costume and wig for my PukiPuki Find the perfect wig for a character I’m working on, I have everything else Organize and sell/give away extra bjd clothes Finish cataloging my collection (mostly finding a way to mark my ot dolls with their identification letter or number)
get faceup for all my id75 heads members profiles (in blog or on twitter) dressmaking and tailoring for the girls cos dolls *2 learn to sculpt heads using software move start a Volks collection (Alice Jo, FCS37 to begin with)
My first goal is pretty basic - to have every doll clean, nicely strung and completely wiped of any remaining bits of old face-up. Secondly I'd like to dye some of my dolls to cover up yellowing or previous bad dye jobs. Thirdly I'd love for all of my dolls to have the right eyes, wig and clothes. Fourthly for them all to have face-ups that I'm happy with. This will mean buying all of the face-up equiptment again as it's so long ago since I last did them, or getting the money together to comission someone else. And my last, and quite possibly unlikely for 2024 goal is to finally buy a body for my favourite floating head, an old-style Dollshe Saint head that I bought in roughly 2014!
I thought about this for awhile. Last year I didn't do so good with my dolly resolutions. I really hope to do better this year. I think I tried to spread myself too thin, I started off the first three months with a bang.I pushed myself with my YouTube channel, doll photo of the week, monthly sewing projects, writing two different doll stories one for the SD story, and one MSD story, and of course real life. But by doing too much stuff at once, I ended up doing very little for the rest of the year. One goal this year. I want to get my larger doll photo story moving. I am going to concentrate on the photo shoots and work on the story. I am going to make this my primary goal, also I am tired of seeing my SD dolls in their school uniforms for the story. They have been in the outfits for a year! I even have most of the story mapped out, so it's just a matter of posing the dolls taking the pictures, and adding the words, I also have the words written down as I did write up most of the story this year. I even managed to acquire a few dolls to fill a couple rolls that I didn't have little doll actors for, so at this point there should be nothing holding me back to do this story. I feel kind of bad about letting everything else fall to the wayside, but if I try to do all of last years goals all over again, I am afraid I wont get anything done. So one single goal with one single focus this year, and if I want to join a photo or sewing competition, or put up a video I am going to just do it because it's fun, and not because I feel like I have to do it.
Ah... goals in 2024... This year I'm going to keep it as simple as possible... Stick to the plan. If I make any new doll purchases they need to be the following: Nishio (tan dream choice DDSB), Astor (Luts Model Delf Raven), or Aether (Luts Model Delf Terra) Doll Chateau body for Kyrvaldis Make doll plans, get doll things, and just have fun in the hobby Sew more clothes. I'm very proud of my progress last year! Work on the wigs and faceups that still need to be made or fixed. No pressure as long as some get done! Send Naoshin and Ravus for faceups Go to a meet up and/or make some new online friends
My primary goal for 2024 is more or less the same as 2023: customization! This was the year tried doing faceups for the first time and I was successful! Next year I'm setting my sights on learning how to do mods with apoxie and changing skin tone with dye! My next big doll project will involve building my 'grail' which will be a 1/4 scale doll hybrid inspired by the doll that originally drew me into the hobby: Fairyland's Feeple65 Moonlight Elf Chloe! My plans for this project include: > Getting two matching head sculpts (✔︎ 2024/1/26) > Modding: 1) Elf ears 2) Elf ears+closed eyes > Getting a body (✔︎ 2024/5/10) > Getting extra feet and hand parts (✔︎ 2024/9/23) > Using dye to colour match all the pieces as best I can. I will be ordering everything in white skin so hopefully that makes things easier Most of this will depend on wait times for parts and other factors outside my control. If all goes according to plan, I hope to at least have my new elf girl fully assembled, modded, and dyed sometime next year I won't worry about faceups or outfits yet. Aside from that big project, I also would like to finish customizing Kiryu. His faceups are complete, so the next step is finishing his tattoo and body blushing. I also started a ventilated wig months ago which has remained untouched since and probably will continue remain so for now I think I'll only attempt that again once other things are completed first. Other than that, I will continue to sew outfits here and there when I can! I honestly have too many things I want to do...
I only have one goal and that is to finally do a faceup myself. It will be a mess but I want to try haha
Here are my 2024 dolly goals! 1. Get bodies for my floating heads - all 4! 2. "Finish" the dolls I am waiting for (do faceups, make wigs, buy eyes, clothes, shoes) (none of them currently have shoes lol). 3. Practice sewing more! 4. Shell an OC I have been wanting to make into a doll (either a Fairyland Ingrid or an Iplehouse Owen. 2 very different aesthetics, and yet they both embody this character well somehow) 5. Stick to my dolly wishlist when it comes to new acquisitions. I want a Nina's Doll blooming line Luna or Iris, Ingrid/Owen as mentioned above, some Harucasting dolls (I'm so bummed I didn't join the preorder for Yoake or Day! I hope I can jump on the Lime preorder maybe!), and maybe Yummy Sweets Dolls Orchid and a Xaga boy. Oh and a Darak Doll Mark. Ahhhhhh. I can do it!!!!! 6. Take pics and post them here or on instagram!
My 2023 goals got derailed a bit by ongoing family medical circumstances, so I'm reiterating things a bit, but it can't be helped 1. Casual outfits for all my dolls As much as I love kimono and long dresses, I'd like everyone to have a casual clothing option. My sewing skills, including pattern adjustment and drafting are getting better, and so is my confidence. Casual outfits also means getting shoes for everyone, in particular those whose fullset shoes have disintegrated after 10+ years...I have so many unshod dolls... 2. Restringing and bath day for everyone Thanks to my local doll friends, I have the confidence to restring and reassemble my dolls, so all the older secondhand crew need a wash, restring and suede/wire if needed 3. Decent wigs and eyes for everyone No more getting random wigs and eyes and hoping for the best! I've discovered what I like in eyes – high end detailed acrylic or glass. Still working on wigs, but I want a decent wig for everyone that suits their head, face and character 4. Doll room/display This is contingent on how much space I end up with when I move house in a few months, but I'd like to have a dedicated display area once I know how much space I have to work with 5. Keep practicing faceups I have done one, which was an interesting learning experience, and now that my supplies and practice heads have all arrived, it's a matter of taking the time to practice
Knowing me parts of this will inevitably be delayed or changed, bc balencing a Masters and work and trying to have free time sucks: 1) Pay off my MNF Ariel and PW Misty. 2) No new resin until at least August or September, that way *hopefully* all of my outstanding orders home before I make another one. 3) Faceups for a Kid Delf Rika, PW Hunky Dory, MNF Look Back Shiwoo, and Soul Doll Millie when she comes home. 4) Do more sewing! 5) Need more SD sized stands. 6) Style my PW Red's hair to be more accurate to her character. Same with PW Tristan. 7) Dye and restring an AoD body to match my PW Hunky Dory. 8) I'm moving next summer, so making sure I move everyone safely lol. I'll probably just put them in my car to ride with me.
Lol, it's only been a few weeks and this has already changed. But! I feel more confident about the changes now. 1. Wait and buy iMda Petite Angelique. I determined that the reason I don't take photos of Leonie is because I never want to carry a bag big enough to fit her, so getting a significantly smaller doll I can slip into my regular bag should make it a lot easier to meet this goal! 2. Get the new girl all the trimmings. I actually already went ahead and got her a dress, now I just need shoes, eyes, sweater, and wig. 3. Sew socks and underpants. I don't super enjoy crafting anymore thanks to my neck injury, but I can still pull off the little things.
No new resin until my current preorders are home! Maji and Lotus should be here sometime in March, hopefully, and then SoulDoll Millie... hmm. I have no idea at this point, given their production delays. Maybe May or June?
Current goals for 2024 is to finally finish AT LEAST one faceup (preferably more) and to restring two of my dolls which are currently laying in pieces in their respective boxes
My goal for 2024 is to take better care of myself so I can be more active in this hobby. I have so many ideas and goals I want to accomplish, but chronic pain and mental health have been slowing me down so much! My sleep schedule is also messed up, so I don't see enough daylight hours, which makes doll photography impossible right now. I definitely want to flip that around. I also want to fix up and bond with my tiny again. It's been over a year, and I want to finish her new look. A wig is what she needs most, but it's so hard to find 4-5-inch wigs that aren't fur and the right color for her. I'm already in the process of getting a body for one of my MSD heads! Lastly, I want to work on writing my doll's stories. I don't need to finish it next year, but to work on those a lot more. I'm hoping that 2024 will be a better year!
- Obtain a Skyland Dolls Fern - Blush the two dolls I have now - Practice faceups - Go to more meet ups - Take more photos
Pay off my layaways get at least ONE of my floating heads a body No new dolls unless its the grail (SOOM Serin in tawny) Maybe attempt face ups? Go to a meetup/ be more social take more pics
1) Pay off layaways 2) No new dolls unless they are a cheaper 1/4 doll. 3) Make wigs for all my dolls 4) Attempt faceups again
I wrote out my plans back in November, but things have changed somewhat, so I'll update here. Restring and suede/kip my dolls. Learn how to style wigs. Sell some dolls/accessories. Clean out my room and make room for dolls and storage. I will be doing a Doll No Buy until I get my room cleaned, and for the most part I bought the dolls for my doll plans the previous year. I think I only need two dolls and a few bodies now. Last year I made a lot of purchases, and now I need to reign my spending in, so even after the No Buy ends, I am going to make an effort to work on my buying impulses.
Happy New Year all!!!! I am challenging myself to really uphold my resolutions this year... I feel I made some good progress on last year's resolution (start painting my own collection) - so this year I am going to continue that and add a few more resolutions to my list: 1. Continue working on blank/unfinished dolls that need to be painted. I have 40 dolls that are need of a faceup (still blank) or need a repaint because their current faceup is old/no longer suited to the doll. I've been tracking my progress in this thread ~ My goal for 2024 is to paint 20 more dolls! That's roughly 1-2 dolls per month. 2. Refrain from buying more at this time. I know that it might feel too restrictive/impossible; so my decision making thought process - IF I decide to buy a doll will be: Is it currently on my wishlist? Is it at a price point that is well below market/retail? ...and is the doll rare/hard to find? If answer is yes to all 3, I will decide if financially I can make the expense. No more impulse purchases! 3. ORGANIZE the doll closet. It's not a mess visually... but in all the boxes it's a mystery treasure trove of what you're going to find, and it's driving me bonkers...so I need to go box by box and sort/organize the items in there.
I'm not big on new years resolutions, but I do have a few goals I want to achieve this year! Improve my sewing skills and spesifically get better at making pants. Make at least two unique outfits for each of my dolls, and new wigs for both. Pay off at least half of my student loans so I can with a clear conscience buy my grail doll by the end of the year. I hope 2024 is kind to us all!
I posted my doll goals back in 2022 and did exactly none of them in the past two years. I'm going to try a simplified version in 2024: give my two fixer-uppers names and glow-ups get back into doll sewing and accessory making learn some new sewing/crafting techniques for some ideas I have practice at least one face-up on my blank head
- Don't buy anything except bodies and longtime wishlist items - New eyes for several dolls - Get back into learning knitting (working on it as we speak) - Work on Loongsoul Eloise, who needs more work than my other dolls - Wigs! Wigs for everyone - Fix my Dollstown body - Faceups for all the blank heads - Bodies for the floaters We'll see how much of this I can get done... If work goes well, I should be able to afford it, but my motivation is another story. I'm pretty sure I kept to none of my goals from last year except learning to do basic knitting. Whoops.
Happy New Year! Hopefully everyone's year is off to a good start. I've got a few goals, hopefully I can get to them all: - finish current two WIP dolls (faceups, body blushing, wigs, at least one outfit for each of them) - sell my old DollFactory Ari Jinee, I had her out for a bit and yeah, I think it's time to let her go - give my first BJD a makeover (new wig, eyes, ideally body, maybe faceup?) or do SOMETHING with her, dang it! - keep learning to sew! - Stretch goal: get the next pair of dolls to work on (I'm doing sets of DnD characters)
Okay, well, as with last year, my goals are mostly... to chill out a little. Absolutely failed last year, so let's see how i do with this list. Get parts for a couple of projects & start designing! A bust piece here, a skeleton frame there. Some measuring for 3D sculpting is in my future. Buy very few dolls. maybe a couple of inexpensive ones more expensive ones ONLY if my budget increases drastically or they are in danger of being discontinued ...okay also if AP Emma is rereleased Otherwise, stick to eyes, wigs and accessories. Sew more clothes! Maybe finally start learning & practising faceups? Of course, everything is subject to change in this hobby. Plus life changes can hinder or help as well. Wishing us all luck in 2024!
My main goal for 2024 is not to get any new dolls this year. At most one if it captures my heart or is at a good discount or one of the longer planned dolls. Otherwise, I expect only those ordered from last year. Well, the most important thing is to have a face-up done on those dolls that don't have it yet. These are the most important points I want to achieve this year.
My resolutions for 2024 are the following: 1. Declutter my collection 2. Sew a rococo dress for one of my dolls
Have a successful meet up in my state lol. Conflicting schedules always make it hard with a small community. Other than that, maybe do a panel at a local con for doll related things (or a meet up). I'm not as active with my dolls anymore so I want to do somethinggggg
