Hmmmm so 40-60 Working days from May 3rd.... o-o;;; That's not a terrible wait ..

 

I've had worse. Been waiting on a SOOM... nuff said... lol

 

Well I've had a lot of SOOM waits, some were really bad ( 9 month wait on my SOOM Glati when they first started ) But SOOM isn't so bad now. I only paid off my layaway with them March 9th and I have a Shipping notice today for my Cuprit.

DS has been taking a lot longer. We're waiting on February orders still..

 

Oh pity... I'm so excited for my DL dolls. Well, that's the life of a dollie collector haha

(Keeping it 26cm sized discussion haha) I wonder if she comes with the horns and if they are magnetic on or sculpted on. I wish I could get a picture of her blank so I can start planning her face up (a bit early but hey, gotta pass the time some how!) Gotta look for some clothes too. I think she's going to be a little companion for me. Like in our world type... so she can interact with me... and ahhh so excited!

 

They look to be magnetic. Since the teaser shot of the head released earlier didn't have any hint of it being sculpted.

 

On their FB they say "Yes,she come with the horns the horns are part of her. XD" So... a part of her makes me think sculpted. I ask them though so we'll see. I'll report back.

ETA: They said in the News thread "Babel ears are human ears. The horns are attached by magnets. " so that answers that. Awesome. I don't want them sculpted on. That's be a pain for a wig.

I guess I'll have to be happy with my own kids! I'm sure that Azalea wouldn't want to share her spot with another little girl. It's hard enough to get her to share her spot with her brother.


In other news: I really need to get her some panties! She like wearing her skirt, but I have to be careful on posing her so she isn't showing off everything she has!

 

Babel really is a lot cuter than the Event photos show off.. :O

 

I really like the look she has in the event photos... a bit dark, a bit sinister. I hope I can emulate the feeling when I do her face up. I don't want her to be a butterfly but I don't want her to be a cutie little girl either. She's going to be the reshell of a character who's a demon stuck in a child's body. She uses the childlike innocence as an advantage in her plans but still hates being a child.

Sooo... Elliott got some new things today:


Only he’s not Elliott anymore.

I’ve been shuffling my collection around and Elliott’s character just doesn’t suit this body anymore… so he’s being reshelled in a Doll Chateau/Dollzone MSD hybrid and Kiki has become Noah. He’s based on Collin from A Secret Garden so he’s a sickly, weak thing with barely any use of his legs (I need to get him a wheel chair). He’s also a horrid little spoiled monster but for some reason I’m awfully fond of him.

 

Nasa, that looks like the kind of outfit I'd expect a little monster to wear!

I finally sat down and sewed together my first pieces of clothing, and they both just happened to be for Azalea! Now that her personality has been settling, she is demanding more clothes. She's a bit bossy.

It won't win any awards, but here she is in her handmade jumper.


I'd show off her new undies, but that would be improper for a little girl!

 

I'm alive. lol I sorta want Babel. Trying to convince my husband to let me do a 4 month layaway on a Nozomi. I'm kinda torn about the whole thing, myself, though, so trying to convince him to convince me to just go ahead and make the order is rough. And only a couple more weeks til the event is over so I need to decide. Though I haven't decided if I want my Babel (if indeed I get her since DS prices have gone up with the quality of their dolls and face-ups) to be a little boy or a little girl. I think Babel looks a little more boyish, but I have an idea for a more feminine face-up. But then I'm not sure if I have any fabric to fit the character I'm thinking of for either a boy or a girl. Ergh decisions decisions. Though I'm not sure if I want another SD. I wish Nozomi was an MSD. Then I go into my room and think "5 dolls is enough. Where are you gonna put two more? And how are you going to justify spending $100 a month for 4 months?" So yes... undecided.

Quidam: Nope, she has a Hyacinth Macaw named Budgie. The name was probably why you were thinking parakeet. Also, I needed to make undies for Alicia, too, cuz she likes wearing skirts. I actually just altered the briefs that my AOD Chi came in but hasn't worn since I got him. All my boys go commando, so it actually worked out well. And I love Azalea's MLP toys. I still haven't figured out what kind of toys Alicia likes, other than apparently puzzles and coloring books, her PSP, and her pink hamster toy. And she likes playing outside. Maybe all that's enough for her. Nothing else I find in scale seems to really click with her. I need to find miniature crayons or colored pencils. I'm thinking one to hold and the rest molded as part of the box. Might have to make it myself, cuz she has an activity book, just nothing to scale to use with it.

Queedie: Thanks. The puzzle was one of her gifts from a secret santa exchange and I'd never gotten a chance to take it out and take pictures of her putting it together. And yes, you definitely need some more Pavel pics.

Hope I can share my girl in this thread ;-) I received the most amazing girl yesterday. Babel with the faceup and OH MY GOSH it is gorgeous !!! I have changed her eyes from the standard ones she arrived with and am so very happy with her. She is wearing part of a dress set from another company and it looks so sweet on her.... well, I think it does anyway ;-) And she hasn't told me I am wrong yet :-P

Hope lots of others grabbed this super amazing sculpt while she was able to get this stunning faceup. I so wish I had got two so that I could have them looking into the mirror at each other. But I am so very happy to have got at least this beauty. The joints are so lovely too. I am so impressed. This is the first time I have handled a Doll Leaves doll of this size and am very impressed.

 

Aww she's so cute. Hope to see more of her. I almost made an order to get a Babel, but I really couldn't swing it at the time and I didn't really want more than 5 dolls. I look forward to seeing more of her around, though, and DS mentioned on their FB page that there are plans for more 26cm dolls in the mix, so I can't wait to see what they come up with next. As for Babel, I guess I'll just have to enjoy pictures of other people's little girls.

I hope know ones minds a bit of an unclear shoot. Azalea and her OT twin were playing outside today and I just love the profile of her face.



I finally redid her face, and will get a clearer shot later. She just looked too cute here not to share!

 

Quidam: Azalea looks great. That is a really nice profile shot. From what I can see, her face-up looks really nice, too and I love her brother's freckles. They look so cute together. I'm glad you figured out who she was and she's fitting into her character now.

I'm in the process of making Alicia a denim jumper. I had a really cute idea for one and I'm probably about 1/2 way done with it. Not sure if I'll finish it tonight or tomorrow afternoon, but I'm happy with how it's coming out so far.

No, but I made overalls for my Jax and it's the same basic thing. So far I only have the skirt part done. Well, not 100% but almost. So now it's just the top strappy part. And I picked out the cutest buttons for it. The straps are gonna snap on the front with buttons over it cuz I've never attempted button holes before. Go fake buttons!

 

quidam, the eyes, I have no idea where the eyes are from. They were in my bundle of eyes in my dolls cupboard. I probably should keep track of what brand and other info for the eyes, but I am not that organised :-P Your Azalea picture is beautiful. I am really amazed at the lovely sculpts from Doll Leaves.

My Babel got herself a little friend. They weren't meant to be so well matched. Was a complete surprise when he arrived and his colouring was so well matched to Babel. Babel has stolen the little dragon from me now and refuses to let me put him anywhere else. She wants him all for herself.

Aww so cute. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of her. Sorta wishing I'd gotten one when I had a chance. Someone even offered to make their order a bit bigger and sell me their extra Babel, but I just couldn't justify it at the time so I declined without even asking what price they might want for it. I really don't need any more dolls right now. But still... SO PRETTY!

Everlasting, your Babel is wonderful! I ordered mine and can't wait for her to get here!! What day did you order yours? I hope mine comes as quickly. I ended up ordering 2 extra dolls that I didn't have on my wishlist just because I couldn't pass Babel up. I was obsessed from the second I saw her. Love at first sight!! I would love to see more of your pics!!!

 

Draeganwolf, I ordered her on the 20th of April. So their time for such spectacular faceup is super short !! Much shorter than I ever expected. She really is one that makes you desperate to grab her while you can ;-) I am so glad I did grab her. I ended up buying one little full doll and a body. This meant I could get Babel's head. It was the only way at that time that I could afford to get Babel with the faceup. I will be ordering from them again for sure. Their work is spectacular.

Oh that is great to hear! I can't wait for my little flutterfly to get here! I ordered mine on May 16th, but I also ordered Mint with the outfit, so I'm not sure how long it will take to get here. They said clothing depends on the maker, and I suppose they won't send Babel out until they get everything. Can't wait, can't wait can't wait!!!!

 

So jealous of all these Babel's coming home. Maybe I should have grabbed her... But then again, if I did I'd be feeling pretty crappy for spending the money right about now cuz I didn't get the job I interviewed for so I'm still unemployed. If it was really meant to be then I guess I'll eventually see one second hand on the MP and not be able to resist snatching her up.

Thanks guys, I love his sculpt too especially his pout. Shows of his attitude which he defiantly has, he can be such a little brat during shoots.

As for the bench I got it for a buck at Goodwill. Amazing fine for his size.

The flowers were already embroidered on the shirt I used to make it, but I embroidered the butterfly on it myself. Her PSP sorta fits in the pocket, or the scale lollipops I have both fit in it.

I'll get a better picture with her standing when I'm not so lazy.

I didn't post a close up of Azalea's new face right away because I was debating redoing it, but it has grown on me over the last week. I think she'll keep it!

 

Quidam: Thanks. I'm really happy with it. It wasn't terribly hard to make, either. Just a skirt and then an extra rectangle on the front and the strappy shaped part on the back. The pocket was hemmed by hand and then glued on with fabric glue around the edges instead of being sewn. The butterfly I embroidered on was probably the hardest. At least it took the longest, but even that was a simple enough shape where I didn't have too much trouble. Overall the whole thing was time consuming, but pretty easy. You should try it, if you think she'd like a jumper.

Also nice face-up. Really nice color match on the eyebrows. Looks just like the hair. And I love how in that pic she sorta has a "What are you looking at?" expression on her face. I know how sometimes it can take a little while to get used to a new face-up before you're sure if you wanna keep it or not.

Spam from the meet cuz someone brought a carousel horse and Alicia fell in love with it. Have I mentioned lately how much I love her legs and that they can go into a straddling position so her little bottom was in the saddle and she was sitting naturally?

 

Hey, I'm sort of new to the smaller doll size, but decided to jump on the Babel event and decided to go ahead and order an Andrew to end up with her, as well. While I'm waiting for my dolls, I figured I would come here just to ask what size eyes to the DS 26cm dolls take? (And maybe even some advise about wigs and clothes would be helpful, too. ;D)

 

I have 14mm eyes in my Lili. As you can see they're pretty big. Eye shopping is my least favorite thing about this hobby because the iris size varies quite a bit from one company to another. As it happens, Alicia is in 14mm glass eyes from Alice's Collection. I love them to bits, but if I knew the iris was gonna be so big I probably would have gone with 12mm eyes. Then again there are other companies that if I ordered 14mm eyes they'd be much smaller so it's really a crap shoot. Her wig is a 6-7, I believe, and I think it fits well, but that's in large part because it has a super elastic cap. Wig shopping is probably my second least favorite part of the hobby because some 6-7s would be closer to 6 and fit well and some would be closer to 7 and maybe be a bit too big. Alicia is in a Volks wig size 6-7 that I got second hand in the marketplace. So everything size wise really depends on personal preference and individual companies. Like even though I'd like a little more whites visible in Alicia's eyes, since she wears glasses I don't mind cuz it just makes it look like her glasses are magnifying her eyes.

And as for clothes, I can't really help you much. All the clothes I have for her that fit perfectly are clothes I made. Out of the bought clothes I have for her, the tanktop I was gifted in an exchange is a tiny bit tight, the skirt I bought is a little big but fits/stays on as long as she's wearing panties, and the long sleeved dress has sleeves that are just a little too short. But if you're gonna buy clothes I'd say pretty much anything for YoSD dolls fits decently enough. Like I said, certain things are just a tiny bit off to a degree that it's not really noticeable.

No, not at all! You were very helpful! And, I can tell that their eyes are huge. owo Most of the larger dolls do take 16mm eyes, easily, and 14mm isn't far off. (As for that, I'm not sure what the larger DS dolls would take, either, though I'm sure that won't be hard.) I should get out and about for shopping for smaller eyes, then, though I do agree about the pupils and wigs and such. Luckily, being in Colorado, I'm not too far from DDE, so I usually just bring a doll there if I want to check and see if something fits or looks the way I want it too. |D

 

I wish I was close to an actual doll shop like DDE or MoC. Would make shopping so much easier. I was so worried when I was looking around on Alice's Company for eyes that the ones I ordered would have irises that were too SMALL. It seemed like the ones I was getting were smaller than all their other 14mm eyes. Then the eyes came and they were actually a touch bigger than the ones that came with the doll so you could just barely see the whites in the corners of each eye. They fit nicely in the eye well, but I believe that 12mm eyes will probably still fit and also have a more realistic sized iris in most companies. 14mm eyes are generally for MSD so I think that's why they tend to run so big.

 

My mom got this cute little fairy toy from work today. I think it might be a Zwinky. They were gonna throw it out cuz it was on the ground but my mom saved it for me so Alicia has a new toy. I'll have to take a picture tomorrow or the next day. I have an idea that will be pretty cool, I think, if Alicia and my camera both cooperate.

 

I have a 26cm doll from Doll Leaves, does anyone know what size eyes they take? I would also like to ask do you get a size bigger when you don't what the outer white area of the eye to be seen? For example when you buy eyes that are a solid colour in the middle with no pupil.

Mine have had their eyes a long time, I tried to verify the eye size. I am pretty certain they're 12, but I'm not sure <<
I also tilt them up a bit (I do this for nearly every doll I have lol), they're not looking straight ahead.
