Queedie: That hat suits him. And I love the lettering you used for his name.

I'm hoping Alicia's eyes come in soon and her glasses should be at Boulevard BJD in a couple days so hopefully really soon I'll have some finished Alicia spam. And sometime within the next week or so she should have a pet coming. If he gets here before her eyes do, there'll still be spam. I won't be able to help myself.

I look forward to taking lots and lots of Alicia spam. Every time I go in my room I end up playing with her and then forgetting the original reason I went in there. Getting ready for bed is an hour affair cuz I'll walk in, smooth her hair, re-position her, cover her weird eye, dote over her, put her back into a safe position to be left alone in, fiddle with her hair some more... etc before FINALLY leaving her alone and actually getting ready for bed. And sometimes I'll feel bad for doting on her so much so I'll fiddle with all my other dolls on the shelf, too. I just tend to spoil her more right now cuz she's new but also sorta neglected since she's not finished yet.

Queedie- I'm still debating on what I'm going to do. I don't want to do anything too stylized, but I don't know if I want it too normal either. The weather's going to be too cold and wet for awhile so I have a bit of time to decide.
I do like her wig, though. It's actually for a 1/4 size doll, but has a very deep pocket, so it engulfs her head very nicely, giving her much more of a furry animal look.

Are Pavel's eyes a two tone green?

They are two toned ^^ They are a glass eye I bought from Denverdoll called Monet Sky.
It is a light blue and a sea green mix.

I took a closeup of Yulie's face so you could see the eye color better.

Spooky lived a reeeeeally long time. She had a long, happy, healthy life and now she can rest. That picture was sorta my memorial to her, but it got deleted for being "not appropriate in any imaginable way". *shrugs* Whatever. Not gonna say anything more about it. I love how she looks sitting that way so I'll take happy rainbow uncontroversial pictures using the same pose in the future.

Her glasses should have shipped today, her parrot (which needs a name) should be here between the 30th and Feb. 3, and I'm hoping her eyes won't be much longer in coming cuz she's too adorable not to get more camera time.

 

Just a quick shot I look of Alicia with her new pet. His name is Budgie. I'll get better pics when she's officially finished (which really should be any time now. Til then, some Alicia spam.

When I came home today it was warm enough that there was a swarm of gnats outside of my house. While the warm winter is kind of freaky it has many pluses, such as being able to do faces! (And, most importantly, the absence of snow!)

So I grabbed my little bunny girl and gave her a second try. This time around, I am absolutely in love! Don't you love it when it finally works out?

I love Angora's new face-up!

And thank you! The shirt and hat were a gift and I bought the skirt. Usually the skirt looks better cuz I take the extra couple seconds to make sure it's lying properly, but it was just a quick shot and I wasn't paying attention. Good thing she's wearing underwear. >.>

I'm mostly done with a jacket I've had planned for her for quite awhile. Just need to finish the sleeves tomorrow, attach the hood and sew on the zipper. It's looking pretty good so far so I'm happy. I just hope the sleeves didn't end up too narrow. I'll find out when I finish it, I guess.

The odd thing is that I'm starting to get a boy vibe off of her now. "She" may be turning into a "he".
If that's the case, I may have to do a slight name change, as Angora is kind of girly. Maybe it will just be Ang.

 

I think Angora is still androgynous. o3o Maybe your doll can be genderless xD

 

That's a possibility that I hadn't thought of! Being an imaginary friend doesn't really need a gender.

 

Alicia's eyes came in the other day. I had to take off her lashes because they weren't in exactly the same way and it was making one eye sit way deeper than the other. It took be 2 days but I finally got her new ones in straight. One is still in slightly deeper than the other, but it's not noticeable to anyone but me, most likely. I've just been staring at them trying to get them straight for so long that I notice every little thing. I haven't decided if I'm gonna try to put her lashes back in yet. It took me a full day to just get used to the way she looked without them (and with bright green eyes besides) but I'm gonna wait a couple more days til her glasses come in and see what I think then. Her glasses don't have lenses so it would look really weird if her lashes were going through the frames. Her eyes are just so fricken wide without them and I liked how she looked with them in, they were just pushing one eye off kilter so I had to take em out at least temporarily.

 

Ooo...glasses! I bet she'll be cute!

I don't think that any of my dolls have kept their lashes. They tend to be annoying.

 

Expecting her glasses any day now, but got some proper pics of her and Budgie today with her new eyes. Stuck em up in a gallery.

And I also got him some new eyelashes xD I don't quite like the ones he has now. I trimmed some that were too big down, and it bugs me. lol. I can tell they're trimmed too short for the lash and they are too stiff looking for my tastes. So that's good stuff there ^^ Hopefully I can find that beanie and get the new lashes in and have a nice fresh looking boy here ^_^

Queedie: Pavel looks awesome in that shot, even if it is old. And aww poor Yulie. Well if you decide to rehome her I hope she finds a good home.

Nasa: And Elliott looks good in oversized clothes. He's a cutie, even without a face. It's been so long since you've gotten him, it'll probably be a little weird for awhile when you're finally able to give him a face-up.

I finally got around to turning around Alicia's ankle that came assembled upside down. I almost gouged myself on her s hook holding her foot on trying to reattach her foot. >.< I knew that my DZ Deerboy is super loose but I didn't expect it to be that much harder to pop off her foot and then pop it back on. Makes me really never want to completely restring a doll.

Here's Angora being a bit selfish with the treats, proving that even imaginary friends don't always play nice.

 

Damn DS and their dolls with wide-ass shoulders. T-T I made the cutest dress for Alicia and I made it like I always make my doll clothes, with no fasteners down the back so you have to remove their head to put it on and take it off. It would fit PERFECTLY if I could get the waist to pull past her shoulders. And I don't have any more of the particular ribbon I used that matches the buttons I used PERFECTLY and was the perfect size so, although I can make something similar, it wouldn't be exactly the same and wouldn't be as cute. So I'm stuck. I either have to cut it down the back and hope I have enough room to take it in a tiny bit to add fasteners, or I'll have to remove her arms to get the dress on and off. T-T I'm so depressed. At least I know in the future that all dresses need to open in the back because unless they're baggy, the waist won't go over her shoulders.

 

I was able to fix the dress so it fits and I can get it on and off. Got a bunch of pics yesterday, which is good cuz I have to work today and I'm not really feeling up to doing much beforehand.

 

Awwww, she's so cute Ookami! ;A; I want sun! Would you belive it's be trying to snow again up here?!

 

I want... lack of heat. At least on work days. We didn't get a winter at all this year. I miss cooler weather. But on my days off it can be nice. At least til I get her face-up redone. Then it can get cold for a week or two before spring. That won't happen though. Everything is flowering and bearing fruit early and the bugs never died and everything is all screwed up from this warm weather all winter.

 

Hmm. Elliott's new wig is in... Not sure if I'm digging it or not. I do like giving it cat ears like this though. Anybody else getting a major Cheshire Cat vibe? ^^;

Nasa: I like Elliot's wig. I agree with Queedie that the final call will depend on the face-up, though.

Right now I'm redoing Alicia's face-up. I just almost screwed up the whole thing, but luckily I'd just sealed it not long ago so I was able to wipe off the parts I messed up without ruining the rest of it.

Edit: finished just in time. I just put the final coat of sealer on and went inside to let it dry and it just started raining. Only have the gloss left and that's all inside work.

 

New face-up with and without glasses. I wish the blushing I did on her cheeks showed up in the picture. Sorta funny cuz in some lighting you can't really see it, in some lighting it's PERFECT and in some lighting it looks like she got punched in the face.

I think I like the glasses a lot because of how big her eyes look. When I put eyes in my dolls, I always move them to look to the side, or look up because I like to see the whites of the eyes a little bit. Because you have the iris filling up most of the eye, it looks like the glasses are magnifying them, like she has a strong eyeglass prescription xDDDD It's suuuuper cute and I love how green they are 8D

 

Thanks. I love those eyes. They're glass eyes from Alice's Collection. You can see the whites a LITTLE bit on the edges. I tried tilting them up but it made her look possessed and I wanted her to look less angry and more cute. It's sorta funny that I was worried that the irises would be too SMALL and make her look startled all the time. They looked smaller than all the other 14mm eyes on the site. Then I put em in and they were huge. You can JUST see the whites in the corners. But you're right, it doesn't look as unnatural with the glasses. I'm really happy with the way this face-up came out. Would have been happier if her lips came out a little darker, but it doesn't look bad so I'm still happy with it.

I agree. I really wanted to do a face-up for her I was happy with. If this one didn't work out I was gonna send her away for one, but I would much rather do my own. Now the only doll that doesn't have a face-up done by me is my DZ Deerboy cuz his freckles on the company face-up are just too adorable to wipe. I blushed his hooves, though, so he has SOMETHING done by me.

I'm almost done sewing a new shirt for Alicia. It's coming out really cute, but I can already tell the sleeves are gonna be a bit short. Dunno how that happened. Usually I accidentally make sleeves too long, not too short. Probably cuz I wanted it to fit perfectly so I cut the material a little short to add the sweatshirt cuffs to bring it down to the wrist, but I mustn't have allowed room for the seam cuz the cuffs are sewn on and it's gonna fall a little above the wrist. But I'll see how it looks when it's done cuz I don't feel like cutting new sleeves. Hopefully they look cute and not like her shirt doesn't fit. I'l post a pic when I'm done to get opinions, since I'm too hard on anything I do and I've never cared for 3/4 length sleeves on anything.

 

Elliott FINALLY has clothes of his own that aren't Ken clothes! Now we just need a face.

 

Just a question, where do you get the clothes that you don't make for your Kiki? I have a few Ken things but one thing I've noticed with the newer stuff the arm holes seem too small.

Elliott's new stuff is from MonstroDesigns on Etsy, though I think she has a DoA account too? The boots are from releaserain on ebay.

Queedie: Thanks for the tip, but luckily they came out perfect. I dunno how, but they did so I'm not complaining. The shirt came out awesome. It's by far the best, most professional looking article of clothing I've ever made and when I put it on her she finally really snapped into character. I think she's my new favorite doll now that I've finally discovered her character and what she feels comfortable wearing and looks good in. She finally stopped glaring at me and just looks flat out adorable. I wanna bring her with me everywhere but I work in an art class for 2-4 year olds so....no... But she's been getting the most of my attention lately. I have to do more with my other dolls. I feel bad for neglecting my bigger dolls.

It was clothes changing day, and I decided to try random wigs on Angora out of boredom. To my surprise one of them turned her into the little girl she refused to be before.

Now I'm uncertain if I want to have my little girl or keep my bunny boy.

In the meanwhile I have a question. I need to tighten her strings, as she has turned very uncooperative with me. What is the best way to get around that extra part up in the torso?

It's up to you how you want your LiLi to be. I think it's funny that sometimes dolls tell us what they want, and not the other way around XDD

There's that "plate", for lack of a better word, in between the torso and the chest. In my girl it seems to like being up in the chest. She's loose enough that I can move it down a bit, but it seems to like riding back up. I feel that once I get a hold of the knots that it's going to close off.

I'm just wondering the best way to get that plate out of the way without loosing a finger. No point in trial and error when someone else already has a good method, right?

I stretched my LiLi a bit to see what you were talking about and I see that little plate xD
Mine is smooshed up against the middle section and fits in that little space, almost like it's all one piece I couldn't get it to pop out of there at all, so I'm not sure what is making your separate and hide inside the chest.

I'll see what I can find online and around DOA.
Maybe with the both of us looking we can find the answer ^^
Should you ask Doll Leaves directly, perhaps?

After reading your post I wondered if her plate was supposed to be where your's was. So, I worked at getting it out of her chest cavity and finally got it down to the top of the torso. Not only was it a perfect fit, as you said, but her floppiness was instantly solved! So, her strings didn't need tightened. I guess the plate was just in the wrong place.

I wonder if hot gluing it down will help prevent this in the future. It keeps trying to ride back up.

In other news, I've decided on keeping her as the little girl and am changing her name back to Azalea. I realized that another doll I had was void of personality and was more than happy to be the reshell of Angora.

Now I just need some time to redo her face. (I am so enjoying her over abundance of hair!)

I'm not sure what job that little piece does though, and how much it needs to move around to aid in the poseability of the doll o3o or even how yours keeps coming off.

Maybe put in a bit of post tac in there and smoosh it in?? see if that helps? Will that degrade too much over time? soooo many questions lol

After a bit of a dilemma, I worked it out that I can get the new Babel with my DL order for two MSDs. I'm ever so excited. She's just gorgeous. I won't be getting the face up (I can't afford $100 just for a face up) plus I don't think it'd work for a character I have in mind. Ahhhh, exciteddddd! Pity I'm ordering through MoC and they won't even be ordering until May 3rd x-x
