Doll In Mind - LOVE - Discussion

Mine will be vampires, i got 4 vampire heads from dim on the way. all girls. They will be the ' bats' that hang out in the older part of the library where my main story takes place. They don't interact much with the other characters apart from themselves but they watch the human drama from afar to amuse themselves. So cheesy . I didn't plan to add vampires to my story but I've always wanted kassia and bellosse so I had too.

 

Haha @Tragedy, same here ... I never wanted vampires, but Marcellina had to happen. I'm cheating by either making her a type of dark elf / fae or something steampunky.

Which reminds me ... has anyone ever put a Marcellina on a Doll Chateau body?

 

Oh wow, this thread is super active now! Awesome! I'm sad I missed out on ordering a Lalia head from DiM, but I still have all my current beloved DiM Lovelies, Bellosse, Kassia, Marcellina and Robel! All of my DiM's are hybrids, so I'd love to help out if I can It's so exciting read everyone's plans!

 

I've seen photos of Bellosse and Bellosse Half-Closed Eyes on Doll Chateau bodies. Let me know if you'd like me to try and find them for you.

 

I've heard DiM heads vary in size ... but if Bellosse and Marcellina are similar, sure!

 

Kassia and Marcellina are similar, so I would think so, yes

 

I'm researching bodies for mine but for me doll chateau is too skinny/lanky. I'm going to try the heads on my luts dolls but I've never seen that hybrid so I have my doubts. I've seen people mention aod and myou. I like the look of aods better but i'm unsure how well they match dim

 

Since this thread is so active now, I want to repost my question, hoping to get some help....

Can anyone tell me if the angel studio solid pink body would be a good match for the dim pink normal skin? Im trying to find a match for my flora head.. Thanks in advance

 

I doubt the resin will match. That's probably why you've never seen it. I have Luts and DIM dolls and the Luts resin is much more yellow/ivory than the DIM resin, which looks like strawberry yogurt next to my Luts girl. You might have better luck with Luts' white skin, but I have no experience with that. Loongsoul pink, Dollzone pink, and possibly Fdoll are better matches for resin color. Planetdoll also works, but I can't remember if they have an SD body.

 

that's what I figured too. I'm leaning toward myou doll as they look the closest to what body type I prefer. I'll check out fdoll and loongsoul too, thanks!

 

The photos are by a flickr member named Phantomdolls. Some are of the Kassia head, some on the Bellosse HCE head, and the last couple are of both. They are on the Doll Chateau A-01 Adult Female Body, which seems to not be sold by Doll Chateau anymore. I wish I could find measurements for it, because I'm not sure how it compares to current bodies that they are currently selling. Here are the links to the photos:

Most that have been using DC bodies for Love head have been using the Y-body-01, a similar body as the adult body mentioned in the post above mine, but a bit smaller. The girl body is no longer availble new, the boy body is.

 

Well, the boy body can be modded ... I'm not much of a fan of those huge wide hips anyway But the general look seems great, thank you so much, Red Delerium!

 

Joining the character chatter because I'm sooo antsy-nervous about my big girl coming in!

The full Anneliese is going to be another shell of my MSD main character, Frances Belkirk. (Here's a link to one of Frances' stories, back when she was a DiM Alpon/BBB hybrid.) I've always wanted an SD version of her, and I've missed her old DiM form like crazy, so this discontinuation was just the motivation I needed to get both DiM & SD in one fell swoop! Her current Spiritdoll form will be sticking around though, because MSD is soo much easier to animate, and that is primarily what I use the dollies for

But Big Frances. I've only been dreaming about this for four years, when I first saw the then-discontinued DiM (Eiliff? Iliff? Can't remember the spelling, and Google is no help here). So of course I'm a bit nervous about her arrival. I think she's going to be a younger, more carefree Frances, if Frances could ever be really carefree, being so studious and serious-minded that is

Clothes. These bodies look huge. I have a lot of 68-70cm girls, so hopefully I have something suitable that can fit her big hips!

 

Popping in here because I snagged a DIM Lestia head that popped back up on sale.

Her name is going to be Miranda Whitehall. She's a Victorian-Era apothecary and herbalist. She has a pre-teen daughter named Persephone, my incoming HCE Larina.

I'm debating whether I want the Dollzone 56cm or 58cm body for her. I like the idea of Miranda being a shorty, but I love the more pronounced curves of the 58cm body.

 

I received my Flora head back awhile ago. What do you all think? She still needs a budy, but having a hard time finding one that will match her pink normal resin...

Dollzone and Doll Chateau are supposed to match.

I'm looking at Myou Doll and Doll Legend, though I don't know if those will match.

 

My Bellosse arrived! I'm so happy. She's beautiful. I hope her real body arrives soon so I can send her off to the faceup artist with a piece if it needs resin matched. In the meantime, she looks pretty good on this NS Mirodoll body.

 

Loongsoul pink is also a decent match. Slightly darker, I think, but easy to fix in the faceup.

Hello everyone!

I'm waiting for a Kassia head and I'm really excited about her! I just have a quick question:

What size eyes does she wear? Her product page lists 14mm, but I've seen people recommend 16mm and even 18mm, so I'm confused at what these sizes look like in the head. If anyone could post photos/links of their Kassia and what size eyes she is wearing, that would be so very helpful!

 

I've never put anything bigger than 14mm in my Kassia. It would be too big!

 

You know...gasp...I haven't even thought about eyes for my Anneliese. o.O I think I've just been so worried about her presence at all. Time to research! (And if anyone has suggestions, I'm open!)

I really need to take new pictures of my Anneliese boy, and don't want flood this thread with ones I posted previously, so here's a link to one showing him wearing 12mm glass eyes. To me, that size suits this sculpt perfectly.

 

Hi everyone! On the subject of eye sizes, any suggestions for Marcellina and Bellosse? Maybe even Robel? I assume if Kassia looks best in 14mm then Bellosse would too? Perhaps 12mm for Marcellina?

She is very pretty! I nearly got my Bellosse with default face up because I think DiM do a lovely job- but I'm rather impatient, so ordered her blank for faster delivery.

Has anyone who owns a Bellosse renamed her? My girl suits the name so well, she is resisting a name change!

Yes, Doll in mind is still active @Dollxlover. There is an announcement on their home page right now which says the next ordering event will open some time in the middle of October.
There are many other people chatting about incoming dolls and ordering during the next period in the Doll in Mind waiting room.

I'm not sure how active this discussion is, but I just bought my first DIM doll, an Arno today. He hasn't shipped yet, but I always loved DIM's sculpting.
Do not many people own the bigger Love line of dolls?

I own 4 Love girls: Bellosse, Kassia and Marcellina as head and Lalia on the current Love body. Marcellina has stolen a Dollzone 58cm body from one of my other girls, but the new arrival of Bellosse does remind me: all of them need their own body.
And that is a bit of a problem: I want them to have smaller SD bodies, but those are not easy to find, and even harder for a price around 250 euro or less. I would love a DC Yought (the first one), but they are hard to find and expensive. Who has suggestions? And please show the hybrids out there?

 

My Arno arrived today, my first DIM. He's gorgeous! Very smooth resin and heavy!

No, he came to me with that face up, it's very nice, probably the nicest on any second hand doll I've ever bought. I removed it though since I like to make the doll my own if that's makes sense. I'm not sure how I'm going to paint him yet.

 

I've been eagerly reading this thread since I'm so happy to see so many have ordered new DiM dolls! I actually missed the first event but I really hope their dolls will be available again soon like they promise. *excited* I've been admiring Marcellina since she was released so this will be my last opportunity to get her. Though I will most likely only order the head and make a hybrid like so many others in this thread even though hybrid making can become quite expensive. I'm not even looking for a perfect resin match but perfect aesthetics and price that suits me, so there's definitely some research work I need to do! But there are so many companies offering lovely bodies nowadays, so there are so much more where to choose from so I'm hoping I will eventually find a body I like. It's been several years since I did my last hybrid and thought this would be the last one. xD
The only DiM doll I own is DiM Laia, I love her! She has the company body and sometimes I think about changing it since her character isn't a child but a 14-year old girl.
I've always liked DiM's face sculpts but I just wish they would offer other resin colours besides normal skin since I like fantasy skins more.

But I'm also eager to see how things change after this event!

 

Suruni, if you look in the Happy thread, you'll find several people have dyed their dolls, some of them in fantasy colors. If you can do your own faceup, you can dye your girl whatever color you want.

 

Having dyed a DiM doll a fantasy colour, I can tell you, they take dye absolutely beautifully! I'm actually planning on ordering another Happy girl and a Love girl to dye, when they eventually re-open orders.

 

I"m wondering if anyone knows if MaskCat bodies would work for a hybrid? The resin is pinker like DIM, and the 57 cm body is double jointed and less mature looking than Love bodies. And easy to find clothes and shoes to fit

 

Thank you thessalyrose and Hyperion for pointing out the dye possibility, I definitely have to look up some tutorials since the subject interests me even if I wouldn't end up trying it out.
I wonder if it would be possible to dye a DiM doll into something really light, like light blue? Anyone has experience on other than darker/ stronger colours?

I ordered Marcellina head today so now all is fine. ^^ I have no idea what body I'm gonna buy for her but I have time to browse. I'm so glad DiM had this final sale since without it I might've never gotten a Marcellina and she's been on my wishlist for over three years.

 

I don't know about other kinds of dyes, but when I dyed my Kid Delf with RIT, I could have made a lighter color just by taking it out of the dye sooner.

 

I ordered the Bellosse with half closed eyes and body for the last chance event. Now I'll have to see how I like a normal skin doll. If I can't hack it I'll see if someone can spray her white...

 

I ordered myself a Bellosse sculpt as well (and I'm SO EXCITED), but no plans for a body yet. There's a particular body I had in mind, but I'll do a little bit more research into the matter before I really make up my mind! lol

 

Waaaaaahhh it's so cool seeing so much activity here! Heya! I'm hoping to snag a Marcellina head! My OC for the sculpt is a boy and basically my whole concept for him is 'no pressure, have fun' I'm pretty uptight when it comes to my doll stories and stuff, but I love the Marcellina sculpt and how 'unique' the sculpt is, so I just wanna have fun with this OC and go for anything
Quick question- what size of wig does a Marcellina head wear?

 

The normal skin is a very pretty, pale pink, that seems like it would work with most faceup colors. Congrats on your girl, I'm sure you'll love her!

 

@inky_doric I have a Marcellina on the way right now! Not sure when she'll be home, but I think I might be able to answer your question some time next week, unless someone else beats me to it.

I'm super glad I focused on the Love sculpts the first time around. Are the bodies even still available? Some of the Happies I wanted are gone, but my wallet won't complain. I'm just glad I got the big kids when I had the chance.

@Jany all the Happy bodies seem to still be available, but only as unassembled kits. (Sorry, Jany's wallet :P )

I was about to order a Bellosse on the Love body (yes I know it doesn't fit, I'm equipped with sandpaper and a respirator and ready for the work)
Then I saw her wrists o_o
What is going on there. No ball joint. Hand's plopped on the arm. Is there anything else about the sculpting/stringing that's worth noting? (I'm... just trying to convince myself not to buy more dolls I think )

 

It's just backward where the ball bit is part of the forearm instead of part of the hand.

 

Marcellina's got a pretty fat head, I'd suggest going for a 9-10 wig if you can. I did manage to squeeze my boy into an 8-9 wig, but it took two of us to wrestle it on him and it was VERY stretchy. For all my DiM Lovelies I tend to prefer erring on the side of safety and going one size up.
