Doll In Mind - LOVE - Discussion

Feb 23, 2006

    1. I just wanted to know if anyone here has or want to have a D.I.M doll. I just ordered my R-ASIAM Special full set yesterday from www.sunrisedolls.com ! He is coming on Tuesday of next week!! Boyyyyyy I am soo excited!! :aheartbea
I think D.I.M boys are beautiful!! <3 O_0.. so anyone here have a D.I.M doll? If so, please post some pictures! I would love to see it! Is there anyone thinking of getting one perhaps?? <3

*edit: He has been SHIPPED!! WOOT!

    2. Congrats on your new boy :) I have a DIM Danbi and I just love him.

    3. bwaha I have Danbi tooo XD only he is on an SD10 Volks body.
      I love hiiiiim <3
Good luck with you DIM boy
Dozens of pictures over at http://rogue-dreams.livejournal.com
Or use my profile to find threads started by me ^-^

    4. Congrats on the purchase..hehe..I was 'cyberly' there with you when you've made the purchase~

    5. Yes indeedy, there's something about DIM dolls that really pulls at me ... very pensive faces. My Altair is DIM Persia with the Type A face-up. Sometimes he can seem such the little boy. At other times, the dreamer. And then, that tiny bit tough. But always, to me, he's stunning.

Congratulations, and may he not keep you waiting too long. In my experience, DIM was incredibly gracious and prompt ... one of the nicest doll experiences I've had with a manufacturer. I have only one minor complaint, and that's that the joints aren't quite as nicely fitted as are those on Volks or Luts.

      Here's mine:

And here he is with his soulmate, Isaura:

    6. Oooohhhh congrats!

I'm saving up for R-Asiam special... I think, though, he'll be gone before I can get him. Congrats on ordering yours, post pictures when he comes!

    7. I've had Danbi and Persia and sold them....
Now I've got the first version of R Asiam and I love him!!!!

I have ordered Eunbi, their sister, I can't wait to get her!

      Raven

    8. Sin is an R-Asiam special -- I love him! :) I also got him from sunrise dolls. Janis is a dream to buy from so you don't have to worry about anything there.

Here's Sin's most recent picture. He's wearing some of the default leather pieces from the set he came with over a sweater he recieved from the crafting swap. :)

My absolute, only comment is that he's a bit loosely strung. I know other DIM owners had the same problem and it's nothing some restinging won't help. :)

Congrats on your R-Asiam! You're gonna love him. :)

    9. My Ambrose (R-Asiam) should be coming next week; I can't wait to get him!!!

    10. There's nothing quite like the anticipatory thrill of a new doll arriving to your very doorstep ... except maybe holding that doll for the first time ... and then there's the moment you really feel he or she or it is yours ... oh, and then there's the instant you feel certain you understand their thoughts ... and ... gawd help us! LOL

You MUST remember to post piccies on this thread FIRST!!

      Lisa
      (vicariously drinking up the enthusiasm)

    11. my danbi was also very loosly strung and i had to re-string him. my only other complaint about him is the little movement in the hands. they dont move up or down and stay in the original position.

    12. i have never heard of these dolls before, but the boys are just precious! they have this brooding look on their faces. hehe

    13. I promise I'll post pics as soon as I get him!! I'm so looking forward to him; I've wanted him for a long time. He was the first boy doll I fell in love with!!

    14. Ooooo yeah ... I'm totally there!! I was smitten, love at first sight, and I couldn't stop thinking about him. Must have brought up his pictures a dozen times a day! Couldn't let go ... I was ridiculously obsessed (or possessed!). *_*

      Lisa

    15. I love the DIM dolls.... I have been looking at them and lusting. So last week I finally order Enubi, Danbi and Belita (just the unpainted heads at this stage) as Persia (who I REALLY wanted) was sold out. But last night I fell for the new guy and pre-ordered him.. I am so glad Janis has layaway options! Who knows when I will be able to save up for the bodies though. So I will be hanging out to get a Persia head and hell.. why not go the full set and get a R Asiam too!

    16. DIM dolls are absolutely lovely, I can't wait until I save up enough for Persia, he's one of my favourite favourite headmolds. All of the DIM dolls are gorgeous though. :) I love Belita as well. Maybe sometime in the future. ^_^

    17. I just got my R-Asiam (Ambrose) today!! He doesn't have his face-up yet, so I don't really have any pictures to post right now. But I love him soooooo much!!! I'm definitely going to have more D.I.M. dolls in the future.

    18. I'm dying to drool ... break out those paints, boleyn!!

      Lisa

    19. YEAHHH~ OMG I need to take pictures of my R-Asiam special! I got him too! T_T But no time! I am trying to study for mid-terms and I have then all next week.. but don't worry.. MUAHAHAH.. theer will be a HUGE photo shoots in the next two weeks that I will be posting.. T_T *sigh* *wishes I had more time*

    20. I'm dying to work on him; but I'm right in the middle of working on my Dollzone boy Brody, and I'm slow. I'm hoping to get Brody done tomorrow, and then I can work on Ambrose next week. Until then, I just keep taking his head out of it's box and drooling over him!!!:aheartbea

    21. It appears to be an old thread, but I just got Eunbi. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever owned! I have named her Lili Marlene. This is her first photo. My first full day with her today, hopefully she will reveal herself to me so I know what style to sew for her! eyelashes have already been trimmed. My first mod. The faceup is default and I love it.

    22. Heheh...Here is my Angelo ^^
      [IMG]
I don't see many Angelos around but...well...I think he is cute :3

    23. I've seen these photos before and your work is very lovely! I just got to complete my Belita this week and I'm still trying to believe how pretty the sculpt is!

      I can't stop staring at your Danbi-girl faces!!! :)

    24. Considering how much of a difference a faceup can make, these are pictures of my Persia with a faceup by Cloverfirefly:

And him with my lovely default Belita:

I find that these dolls are so much lovelier in person. It's really hard to capture it, but they are gorgeous.

    25. Wahhhh~ all of them are so gorgeous T^T I'm heavily considering a Rain or Danbi, but the one I really want is Angelo~ :< I can only find a head of him on Xanadoll though, and neither JS nor them sells boy bodies, I think... hrmmn.

    26. I have a Danbi with Volks Standard Boy body
I don't like DIM body much, sorry to say that, too slim

    27. Chy~~ your Danbi is beautiful <3

    28. JunkySpot DOES sell boy bodies! I bought one for my Nino, a Persia. It's a hilarious body; really cute and slim, with adorable sculpting. My favorite part? Nino can't actually sit up straight very well normally. You have to bend him forward at the torso joint into a 'slouch' to get him to sit. And Nino's character? Has TERRIBLE posture. XD

Actually, Nino has a complicated story. I first got him as a 2005 Persia head on a jointed Volks SD10 body. It wasn't bad, but the body was too stocky to be Nino, and he has to be slightly taller than his not-yet-purchased best friend. And nothing is shorter than SD10s except Magical Michael. XD

So I bought him a new DIM body thinking it would work great! Which it did, except for one tiny problem... his head was so old, the resin was a completely, utterly different color. We're talking yellow head, mothertrucking PINK body. It was horrible to discover, as I hadn't thought of the problem beforehand. Fortunately, I recently got my hands on a NEW Persia head, which DOES match his body, yay!

I love love love DIM sculpts!

    29. AoD Normal skin suit the paler DiM NS really well with only perhaps a shade difference.
Only thing is it is a three part torso that some people don't like so much.
If you want skinny and slim stick with the DiM body, if you want more muscles i'd go with AoD.
A comparison pic of my boy and mad_hattters is on DA:

Zara is a 2006 ns batch and soubi was a totally mixed batch when i got him of older head and the 2007 shell pink resin. I have since changed his body to its' now AoD 3 part torso:

    30. *Phoenix Down!*

      Im resurrecting this thread! XD Many moons ago (well not really) i did a trade with someone on DoA and recieved a DIM Rain. i fell in love with him, but ended up trading him for another doll. but i missed him so much ive since tracked down a new one...and will be bringing him home shortly. i also fell in love with an archnear and he too will be coming home soonish. >_>;

so i decided to resurrect this thread in hopes that there will be general chattery of DIM dolls!!! Come on everyone. id love to see some nice pics! :D

    31. Hey everyone! I just purchased a DIM love boy body and he'll be coming home soon. So, I was wondering, what clothing fits best on the DIM boy bodies? If you could tell me what companies fit best, that would be awesome!
      Thanks so much!
      ~Hecate

    32. Hello. I am considering purchasing a DIM Minimee head Natural Skin. Do any of you have a recommendation for a resin match? I am looking for an older male body. Definitely not a boy body. (60cm or more). Thanks.

    33. I could only find a thread for DIM boys, I want to talk about girls too.

Mainly I need to know how the SD/Love/ 1/3 size dolls pose and stand. Anyone know / have comparisons to other dolls?

Please help me out. I'm not familiar at all with DIMs dolls, only the minimee heads.
Also, I've heard the bodies for Minimee heads are different than the standard bodies but I don't see any on the site, has this changed? I won't lie, their site does confuse me.

I've seen Minimee MSD/Happy-sized heads on various MSD sized bodies and they are too large for standard MSD bodies, seemingly. Yet the site lists their Happy size bodies as 43cm. I'm a bit lost. Please, if you've got DIM dolls, tell me EVERYTHING about them!!! :sweat :D

      Thanks so much!

    34. I have a regular DIM Memory (Love size) body on my Spike Minimee head and it works very well for him, although I know some people prefer a different body. He can be a little stiff, but I do prefer the DIM body to the Dollshe that I previously had. He stands very well, although can be a bit floppy-armed. I suspect that is fixable with some cord tightening. The main difficulty, I think, is color-matching between the head/body on the MInimees. If you think you might want a MM, the best thing would be to order the body at the same time to get a better match. DIM's color changes all the time! I asked Denny about the Toru body, and he told me it would not match color-wise, which is a real shame as it's nicely muscled. You can really see the proportions here as to how the body/head relate in this first photo. ***click little pic for big**
[IMG]Body, no mods other than slight blushing
[IMG]Free standing in the field with no support. Easy to stand, holds a pose like iron.[IMG]
They fit in any standard SD-13 outfits, although with those large feet, I've had him wearing Dollshe size shoes & boots.

    35. I'm getting the DIM Love body with gift head today =D Once I stop squeeing, I'll update this! I have an MSD Happy body, and I love the posing, though her arms are a little loose >.>

    36. Thanks!! This is good information! My Soom SuperGem is weak in the arms too. He's good at standing on a good, flat surface, I'm not sure about uneven surfaces. He's so large, I haven't trusted trying. :sweat
But this is great to know about the DIM bodies. I'm glad to hear they pose and stand good!

    37. My girl stands great, but it's impossible to find shoes for her. I know she can wear Magic Attic doll shoes, but that's pretty limited. She also has large hands so you have to be careful about sleeve holes. I can't compare her because she's my only SD.

    38. BUMP! I would love to learn more about the DIM Love bodies and their quality and posability! I would love to see some owner pics of them!

    39. I've done a search on DIM dolls, but I was not able to come up with very much. It seems there may not be very many Doll in Mind Love dolls on here? The things I found were mostly about the boy bodies, but if I missed something please redirect me!

I am trying to learn more about the DIM bodies, specifically the girls, and most of the info I found was from back in 2005 and 2006 when the company was new. Have the bodies improved? In '05-'06 the owner reports weren't very good!

I would love to hear opinions about the DIM dolls, bodies and quality from owners. Pictures would be great as well. I really want a Bellose, so if anyone has one please show her off!

      Thank you!

    40. Thanks for sharing! She is so beautiful (I am thinking about getting a Bellosse myself). The only other info I could find on their bodies was back in 2005 and 2006 and many owners were saying they didn't pose very well. Has that improved at all?

And wow Magic Attic doll shoes? That sounds huge! I have quite the Magic Attic club collection so luckily I can try their stuff out on her if I choose to buy her I suppose.

    41. You might see if you can find anything out about the DIM Minimee girl body... it's the same sculpt as the newer Love body, just cast in a different resin.

    42. i have a DIM MSD Marianne. I bought her last Spring and the previous owner said she was brand new. I have to say I love her. She's got a sweet face and she poses well she also can pull off a lot of different styles. The torso is a two part torso which I find aesthetically more pleasing. It still poses very well even with it being 2 parts though she leans back a little more while sitting than a 3 part would. Her joints are creeky but that is because she has a lot of layers or MSC. Also I find the resin isn't to soft because I dropped her head once on the pavement and all that happened was a hardly noticeable flat nose, even if I told you her nose was flat you still couldn't see it unless you strained to see it. She stands well, even on carpet, though that takes a tad more work. Her tone was/is a nice white and I paid for blushing so she has a very natural pail color to her. I find her white much prettier than the AOD white I recently got. As for aesthetics, she has a very natural mature look to her. Her breasts remind me of a woman's(unlike some dolls which have very unnatural looking breasts...bobobie is the one that really comes to mind) with that in mind for her size they are rather large. Her hips have a nice curve too, but also I can see how they would seem rather large for her size. For me I think she has a great body very poseable, very natural looking.

    43. I have a DIM Love girl with a Soof02 head (the only one on the forums I think! ^^;;) in NS. She's my baby and I love her, and I adore the Soof sculpt for its uniqueness. Soof02 is the sly-eyed pouty one if you look up any pics.

As for her body, when I first received her she stood like a rock, but with a "kick" to the side from her torso joint upwards, so she looked like she was giving you attitude xD I found this was very sweet initially, but eventually got fed up and restrung her, which both fixed this problem and kind of fixed her floppy arms. I love, love, LOVE the DIM Love girl hands, they're very pretty and posed cutely, she can hold things quite naturally because of how they've been cast ^^ Well, she could until the hook in her hand snapped in two =/ This is one of the major oopsies I've had with my girl; DIM dolls don't have S-hooks in their hands, they have screw-hooks embedded in their hands which then hook onto the string. Cassie's (my girl) just snapped in two, with one half still in the hand. She wasn't overly strung and I wasn't being rough with her, it just snapped, but apparently a few people have had this problem. I'm in the process of getting her replacement ones, but Dollfamily hands are quite a good match for NS for now :3

Like lookame said also, Cassie's fell quite a number of times on loads of different surfaces and she seriously has NO damage to her whatsoever. When she was just a head, she fell from a table and rolled away with no damage; she has faceplanted on concrete and gravel with no damage to face or head. Credit to Denny at DIM for some strong resin xD

Cassie came with seams, but they don't bother me that much. She also has crazy knees...I'm still not sure why o-0...they just seem to twist themselves around when I'm not looking xD

Personally, I love the look of the Love body. She has quite petite breasts for the size of her hips, but it looks natural and very cute. She's very curvy around her hips (her thigh circumfrence is larger than her hips width!) and her butt is easy to get into jeans but also noticeable! She has a cute little bump of a tummy, not emaciated, but not chubby :3 Her curves show through when she wears tshirts, with a little bit of definition around her upper ribs.

One thing I positively hate? DIM feet!! I can't find any shoes whatsoever to fit my girl, other than big stompy buckle boots ;-; Her feet are much, much too wide to fit into any other shoes except vans and converse from mimiwoo...does anyone have any suggestions?

    44. I agree with Immie's critique about the Love body. I love all the little quirks and personality the sculpt has, but the extra wide feet do cause finding cute shoes that are'nt too juvenile looking almost impossible.

Immie, I would love to see your Soof02 head! Hope you post some photos!

    45. I forgot to mention about the feet issue! Since the Dollfamily hands are a good match, I was thinking of getting the girl feet for her also...though I might just scream and sand them down...no one will see her three-toed-ness >>....

And this is Cassie :3 I'd love to know if anyone has a Soof sculpt! I didn't particularly like the promo photos..but she's jut so different now that she's here =D

    46. I love the Belosse head .. she might have to be added to my collection as well!

    47. Thanks for all the great info and links (there were actually a couple links suggested here by nk-chan and Tsukidollthat I hadn't come across). Its really good to hear these dolls resin has nice durability. I agree with lookame and Immie, I love the natural looking shape of their bodies, and posability is definitely a big factor for me too.

I was going to try to match a Bellosse head with an AOD body if I learned that posing wasn't very good, but honestly I like the proportions of DIM a bit better, as 1/3 AOD bodies are a bit chunkier and sometimes hard to fit into certain outfits (especially with their bustiness), so if DIM poses nicely I might as well just stick with them. :)

Immie Cassie is a gem! Her face has so much attitude and personality! Did you have to buy her new hands all together when the screw hook broke? I have never heard of them being used before, it makes me a bit worrisome.

As far as the feet issue goes, someone (sorry I cant remember their name ATM) said they asked DIM if Leeke shoes would fit and they said yes. They also said some Magic Attic Club shoes fit, but I can't picture that, those shoes are huge. I am wondering if I do buy the DIM body if I should just try to find another brand of feet to match. Does anyone know how NS AOD resin MAtches DIM?

    48. Sorry for the double post, but also, I thought I'd share... If you like the Bellosse and Kassia molds check out this box openening, its what turned me onto these dolls, the second page shows them both with their new faceups :)

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?363530-Arrival-of-vampires-D-DIM-Kassia-amp-Bellose-half-closed-eyes-head

I was also wondering because I couldn't find one in my searches, I know there's a database for the Love dolls, but has anyone made a discussion board thread for them where the owners talk about them and share their lovely photos?

    49. I am going to make all of your days. Volks shoes fit the Love girls perfect :)

    50. As far as I'm aware, only Dollfamily and Dollzone Yellow NS matches with DIM resin. There is difference (if you look at the photo of Cassie, those hands she has are the Dollfamily ones) but it is very slight, as the DF resin is more yellow and Cassies body is pinkish toned. MSD DIMs are more yellow toned than their older sisters and match really well with Dollzone yellow normal skin resin (My MSD girl is a DIM Msd body/Dollzone Shoyo hybrid!)

Aw thank you so much blackcat87! I love her, she's strange and wonderful xD I think I may have to purchase two hands, even though I only need one, but I love the posing of the DIM hands so much that I'm willing to buy them xD

Hmm...the Magic Attack Club shoes are a little big, closer to model size...the problem is with the width at the toes (kinda like duck feet xD) so although I CAN get mimiwoo cute pump shoes onto her, it's a struggle, and she eventually ruins them by poking her toes through the material xD

EDIT: Volks!? Really!? Omg if that's true, I love you xD

    51. I have some pics of my DIM male body with a Minimee Edward Cullen head on my website. Here is a link if you'd like to see. His body is nice and solid. He wears clothes very well. http://www.designedbydayle.com/rich_text.html

    52. I dug out my Magic Attic shoes out of storage and took some pictures. These are shoes that come with the dressed dolls. I tried to buy some Magic Attic boots from Dollchris on ebay, but they were too small for my Bellosse.

    53. Wow I just cant believe Magic Attic shoes fit! That does make me happy since I have bunch. Thanks so much for sharing this!

    54. So I am guessing, aside from the database for Love dolls, there isn't a discussion board thread for them where people just talk about their dolls?
