Doll In Mind - LOVE - Discussion II

I look forward to seeing resin comparison about the DF-H with DIM resin. I was looking at the 68cm body for my Arno. I spent the day picking out bodies for my 3 DIM floating heads. I think My Terrence is going for the 2D doll 73cm. I have this weird thing where I can't have 2 dolls on the same body, the only exception being my IoS twins but they have different heads. Body is a far as I got with Arno, I still need a look or name. Azelia on the other hand is very loud with what they want. I've already bought their glasses, and have some clothes planned and fabric shopping has started. And I think their name is going to be Vanir.

I'm definitely trying Sd. I'm gonna try for Galahad, Marcellina and Lalia. My vampire power couple and another goth boy haha.

 

I am interested in the Terrence sculpt. I don't know anything about this company. Can someone tell me if this is a popular head? How low should I set my expectations, haha?

 

I still haven't gotten my two kassia and bellosse painted but i'd order 2 benetias, do they have other sculpts that are vampires? I cannot remember back that far

I'd be down for a group order for edmon, galahad, odile, leonora or marcellina. Be nice to have all of them haha and ofc benetia but she's not sd don't want to be off topic. If anyone is getting a GO together

Krystina, your BBjorn actually looks pretty good on that body. I’m not crazy about super-muscular bodies, but that body is nicely muscled.

 

Glad you're able to make some progress towards the floating heads getting bodies thing @krystina ! It's overwhlemed sometimes. I will be so excited to see some of your dolls coming together!

I had to dip out of this thread for a little bit with all the order discussion I hope you can all manage to get enough interest for the sculpts you want though. I'm definitely rooting for you!

I've begun another makeover I think for the world's most patient Lloyd I realize I was already making him new clothes in a completely different style earlier but we just won't talk about that

I actually do this a lot. The equivalent of throwing paint at a wall until something sticks and then I shuffle around the clothes that have no owners until someone keeps it and then I rehome the rest. It's... Some kind of method lol.

Anyway! A friend I trade fabrics with occasionally sent along these amazing books last time, one is a gothic & lolita themed Japanese street fashion magazine photo collection and the other is from Fruits of the 00s colorful street fashion looks and i'm going to attempt to steer Nagi (Lloyd) in that direction because I'm determined to eventually have a doll with the colorful mix and match thing or die trying.

AlisonVonderland, your Lloyd looks so cute in those colorful clothes! I’m terrible with color, and my dolls land up wearing mostly dark colors.

I got my Azelia Tuesday, I am shocked at how much smaller the head is in comparison to my DIM boys! I am concerned with the body I had in mind now. Thankfully my bestie has it so I can ask to try it on when i see her next.

 

I feel you there @HighPriestessIce I hope you can make Azelia work like you wanted. I had her and Annelise once but already had Lloyd before that.... And it's a completely different proportion and style of doll put together. Azelia is beautiful though so I hope you can figure it out

Thanks for the nice comments everybody too Nagi is in a seat of honor next to my bed where I am currently trapped after injuring myself yet again. It's getting old. But nice to see the dolls here in their new outfits when I'm laid out. Nagi is indeed, the forever mellow one around here.

@krystina ah the color accident with polish remover sounds stressful! Glad it was ok in the end! No terrifying mishaps allowed what styles are you planning for the dolls you are working on putting together? If you know and want to share of course

I'm looking at the Dollzone 60cm body for Azelia, I think it could work, the neck is the same measurements at least. But yes next to my Lloyd the head is tiny. But it's around the same size as my F60 Lishe so they won't be too out of place. I'm looking forward to a smaller SD, all my dolls have steadily gotten bigger over the years. Both in height and bulk.

I recently went to Toronto's fashion district and went on a huge fabric binge. Hoping to get fabric for all my boys but it seems my Lloyd demanded the most. Nearly everything in the suitcase was for Leviathan. So I am sewing an entire new wardrobe for him, including boots. I'm using my 3d printers to print the platform soles. I am anxiously awaiting the buckles I ordered to finish them.

 

It's been really hard to work on my boys this summer with the heatwaves. Yesterday was 43C with the humidity at 90%. I did manage to make Volta some new earrings today. That'll hold me until the cooler weather and moisture goes away. Then I can give him a proper face up.

 

Oh! I'm in love! . His nose is so exquisite. DIM boys always had such wonderful noses.

@HighPriestessIce Ugh I'm sorry your weather is so awful. Actually it's just a bit worse than it's been here, which is to say -- like hell on earth. We are finally starting to enter the early fall dip in humidity which is to say it's creeping down briefly to 50% in late afternoon.
I have a miserable backlog of faces I would have liked to paint earlier in the year myself.
Your earrings on him look so cool! the right tiny findings for such things are amazing. I have been neglecting to keep up here recently, but his earrings make it look like maybe he'll be a bit of a goth?

I wish we could have a doll in mind tea party with everyone together. That would be fun

Ooh that sounds so good @Rabbit-moon I'm definitely one for many kinds of tea myself, but I wonder what kind of tea Lloyd would drink. Hm.... we do have a miniature dragonware cup for the occasion though! Maybe he would have jasmine green tea with me.

 

Well yes there are certainly traditional tea shops some places, other things too like the cute boba places ... if only we were all in the same location, huh?
If I had a house or you know... anything decent, and it were pre-2020 and all that jazz I would be happy to make tea for everyone I actually did used to host a little thing like that at my place briefly, with a whole cabinet of teas and everything haha!
Yes there is certainly no tea party without snacks! Sometimes I would have pie. Pie, tea and dolls oh my.
I should show Nagi with the dragonware next I guess. It technically was claimed by my loongsoul girl (Chelsea) Because it's so fitting for her. Dragonware is so cool looking. I found a single miniature doll-sized teacup in our nasty goodwill bins once and it's so completely cherished now
Nagi is currently resting in a box with Salem (angel region) they have become good friends, they look cute next to each other. *Takes notes on snapshots to take later*

Ugh that will be wonderful @HighPriestessIce I love alternative too lol. Sven (D.i.l. Rydel) actually is moving away from punk and romantic goth into cyber Goth. Doing some lime green and black. Or close to. I hate making him new stuff because I honestly hate black clothes. I can't see well enough on it. And cat Hair. God the cat hair!
Anyway I will be on the edge of my seat to wait for photos of your cyber punk fella as he comes together!

Maybe we could do a virtual tea party and take pictures of our D.i.m's with their drinks and post them that would be cute.

 

I love the idea of a virtual party. I am definitely anticipating giving my current DIM boys a little maintenance and refresh in the fall months. And Bodies for my other two in December. I'll be taking the year off work in November (selling my art and props), with the exception of Doll North and just focusing on my own dolls and things. So I am looking forward to really getting my collection to where I want it to be.

 

Oh! The idea of a virtual tea party sounds like fun! Maybe when everyone gets their dolls all squared away we could plan something?

If you still use Etsy you can buy single tea/coffee cups with the "drink" in them for 1/3 and American girl scale in several different shops... this may or may not be one of my secret infatuations.

 

Oh yes those are great! People use the base cups like that and then put the "drink" in them, you'll see that on Etsy. I have some red ceramic ones though that I have had forever, coffee and hot chocolate hopefully that's allowed lol.
But you're right, painting them like fancy teacups would be super fun.

I currently want to find some red Dixie cups in 1/3 (ish) you used to see them at dollar stores in the weird party section but I haven't seen them recently... i have another extra fancy doll hot chocolate someone local made in one of those cups so they've got to be around here somewhere!
I want to work on a "rave" photo collection, which is what they would be for. @HighPriestessIce yesterday I was randomly searching the forum to see how many people ever made rave photos and there was not a lot but I found old pictures you posted of your Lloyd! That made me happy!

I definitely have a few of my handmade SD tea sets to choose from but knowing me I'll probably make a whole new set.

Do the cups have to be red? There's this perfectly scaled beer pong set you can get from a bookstore in the mini book section or on amazon. I have it for Leviathan. It looks like this. The cups are perfectly scaled for SD.


I'm totally itching to do more rave shoots myself. Considering Leviathan is in the middle of getting a whole wardrobe's worth of new pieces. I can't wait to see you do yours!

Thank you! I did! I have an obsession for tiny drinks and food so I even have a full bar in the works with all kinds of glasses. Since a night club is kind of half of my dolls' story line. That's where Leviathan lands, the others including my new DIM boys, are part of a travelling circus.

 

Thank you! I got both my work room back and dolls out of storage, so I've started working on Leviathan's wardrobe. And this idea of a tea party has me extra motivated! I've designed new tea sets just gotta pick out one.
I am also anxiously awaiting some sort of update from Denny about the 1/3 heads. I have so many ideas swirling in my head and this urge for more dolls haha.
