Doll Family H Discussion

Apr 7, 2010

    1. Took "Janus" with me to one of my recent-ish doc appointments and while waiting by the elevators we snapped this photo. I think we both managed to look pretty cute.

    2. Thinking about ordering some DF-H jointed hands since my newest doll body (56cm DF-H boy) doesn’t have any! Is anyone able to give me a rough estimate on a wait time? I’ve never ordered from this company so I’ve got no idea

    3. It's been awhile since I ordered anything and it was through AC. It was the body for "Janus" and I believe it took around 5/6 months to arrive?

    4. Thankyou! That’s really helpful to know since I was planning on ordering through AC, too.

    5. Happy to help, keep in mind though the order was in 2021 so things could have changed. Might want to check the waiting room thread to see if there are more current wait times.

    6. I was checking Doll Family-H 2022 Christmas Event, the one where there are various versions of Qing Lang, since I'm interested in getting the Body 1/3 v4 or v5 I thought it was worth checking it out; I do love the sculpt but I always wanted him in 1/4 scale, mostly because I like the concept of that one, the faceup and the outfit, he looks like out of an ancient traditional tv drama...

Anyway, I think the only advantage of this Christmas Event is that they have the version with the open mouth that they don't sell very often, and it's quite cute, but is it worth it? he wears a pajama and doesn't say it includes the wig and I don't think he has any semblance of footwear like slippers, I don't know if I'm very thrilled about getting the fullset, and the original artist faceup is almost 100$, if I don't pick that one and I go for the 40$ one, is the other alternative faceup trashy? have you ever purchased an original faceup or the 'B alternative' with this company? was it good?

Another thing, does anybody can pinpoint what is the color in the resin for these promo pics from the event? I know for sure the 1/4 is pink because, well, he looks really pink in the pictures, but this could be yellow right?
Edit: Legend Doll told me is White Skin

P.S, How often do they sell the version with his mouth open?

    7. I ordered a full doll in May through ACBJD and it took 4 months. Alice did mention that there were COVID related delays, otherwise I’m guessing it would take less time

    8. Thank you! That’s great timing! I’ll place an order very soon, then. :3nodding:

    9. Does anyone know when the next DFamily-H sale will be? right now there is one from DFamily-A but the color of the resin does not match what I have planned

    10. They might have a Chinese New Year sale later this month

    11. Oh thank you, I wasn't planning to purchase anything during February because of their holidays, but I will be alert if a sale opens for the Chinese New Year

    12. For anyone still wondering about DF-H's current wait times: about a week ago I ordered a DF-H body (through a dealer), and was told that their current wait time is about 5 months. The last DF-H order I made at the end of July took about 5 months, as well.

    13. I just had to pop in and say, I absolutely love DFH's body sculpts. Their heads are adorable, but they aren't quite my style. But the bodies are so perfect! (I have I think three hybrids planned for DFH bodies?) I'm really looking forward to joining this thread with some actual substance someday!

    14. I agree! I have two 75cm bodies I use for several 22cm heads. They all work great and the bodies pose well. I love that I can buy bodies separately.

    15. I'm thinking about getting a body from DFH for the Impldoll Sicily head that should be arriving in the coming months. The 58cm body has the neck size listed as 9.3cm while Impldoll's is 9cm. I've never hybridized a doll before so I have no idea how noticeable it would be, or work at all, so I'd like to know if anyone has already dealt with that kind of issue? Also, I'm unsure of which DFH skin color would be a close enough match for Impldoll's normal pink. Their own normal pink seems to be close but I have a hard time finding a lot of pictures of it. Thank you!

    16. The neck size doesn't sound too far off though it may still require a small amount of modification for the head to sit properly. If the measurements were the other way around with the head being sized for a slightly larger neck it would probably at most need sueding for the head to sit properly. You also want to check that the shoulder measurements are close to avoid it either looking bobble or pin headed.
Of course I've never hybrided a doll so I don't really have practical knowledge as of yet and am just going by what I've read.

    17. I have hand sanded a neck hole a bit several times. Also have shortened necks by sanding. Be sure to do this only if there is no faceup. I use sandpaper that can get wet and I use water when I sand to keep particles out of the air. You may not need to do anything but just be sure to use a respirator if you need to sand.

      • x 1
    18. Very good point, I didn't think about that! Looks like the shoulders are pretty similar, and the DFH heads for that body are the same as the Impldoll one, based on the company measurements, so I'm inclined to think it should work, proportions-wise

Luckily I'm used to work with 3D printed resin, so I'm ready in case it comes down to that. I might be able to get away with sanding the neck a little, 3mm seems doable.

Worst case scenario, I'll have to find another head for the body, or sell it and find another match. I'm more concerned about finding a good color match, in any case

    20. Hi! Does anyone knows if DF-H normal yellow is similar to Volks or Crobidoll normal?

    21. Does anyone own the DF-H robot head? i'm really interested in it but i don't think i have ever seen owner pictures

    22. A project journal of a robot head getting custom painted.

    23. @aihre thanks so much, i wish more people had them robots are underrated :XD:

    24. Does anyone know what resins match with DF-H normal pink? I'm selling a 68cm normal pink body bc the color didn't match a floating head it was for but I'm wondering if I should just try and find a head for it instead bc the body is gorgeous. Does anyone have any hybrids that match well?

I have a version 2 and he poses like a dream! Absolutely stunning body. I have the two part torso. Jeez, edit bc I just realize you asked about version 1. Sorry!

    25. Hey everyone, I've been looking at some of the DFH bodies for a floating head I have but want to make sure i can get clothes (got a lot of awkward to dress dolls alread)

considering the 68cm ver II or 72cm ver II boy bodies

I think the 68cm seems similar in sizing to the Popo Doll 68 boy and I've seen a few clothes makers mention that size, but I wonder if the 72cm might fill out clothes better as I feel like the 70cm clothes i have tend towards the large size... that could just be because I've mostly had skinny Dollshe boys though

    26. I really like the 68cm v2 body but it’s a little to big. Do you think DF-H will release a body like this in 65cm?

    27. I’m gonna take the plunge and put the 65cm body on layaway :XD: I did a little more review hunting and I like that it’s very poseable and it’s close to a size of doll I already have (better to share clothes with).

Before I order tho, just wanted to ask if DF-H has changed their resin color at all if anyone here has older dolls with newer dolls? I have an older DIM doll I’d like to hybrid to DF-H pink NS and it looks like a very good match in some comparison photos.

    28. I'm just popping in here to ask if anyone can confirm that the current DF-H Normal skin Pink resin is still a very pale pink colour??

Thank you in advance for any info!! :abambi::abambi::abambi:

    29. It's very pink yeah, doesn't match any of my "normal pink" resins from other companies they look downright yellow in comparison.

    30. Does anyone have measurements for the type 2 1/3 male body? It's not available anymore and I've been unsuccessful finding the measurements...

    31. When I bought my DF-H 58cm girl body, I didn't really like the default hands, since they look better sized for the 63cm girl IMHO (the two bodies share hand parts). So, I bought some hands for the 56cm boy body hoping that they would fit. And they do! I just thought I'd post my findings here in case anyone else is in the same boat, or perhaps wants some larger, more feminine hands for their 56cm boy.

As an aside, I am really excited for my girl's head to arrive. The 58cm girl body is really nice!

    32. Anyone have a 72cm Boy Body Ver 2 I can look at?

      • x 1
    33. @RoyalRegals i do, is there anything in particular you want to see?

      • x 1
    34. @Enchiridion Not in particular I just like seeing owner pictures as well which I do find quite helpful! Though I often find myself wanting to get a good side view of the body too, I've noticed some of them have a bit of a curved back which I like a straighter one I suppose? Seems like this one doesn't though!
In general just the whole body view too!

    35. I love the scars on him! How did you make them so realistic (and 3D looking)?

    36. oh it's super easy all i did was mix white craft glue with a tiny bit of pastels then dab it onto the body where i wanted the scars then when the glue was dry use a tiny amount of watercolour around the edges to define them :)

      • x 4
    37. apparently its giving me an error and can't see them >.<

    38. I get an error also.

    39. Does anyone have a He Lan and would share owner pictures? I can't seem to find any other than the company ones...

    40. Yup that works and thank you! Doesn't actually look bad as I feared I'll consider it for shelling my character ^ ^

    41. I've been debating ordering a Pukki, which would be my first dfh, but I'm unsure on skin colour/resin types. Ideally I'd love to find a blue Pukki with faceup, but I'm not thinking it's likely. Would anyone be able to answer a few inquiries.
-Is the grey similar enough to the blue?
-Are there any image examples of the two resin types?
-Is it worth trying to find the blue or should I aim for another colour?
      Thank you <3

    42. @Alice_Morte hi i saw your question on my post, my chad is in white resin but i honestly have no clue what kind of resin doll family uses so unfortunately can't answer that for you

    43. I have a He Lan head in normal yellow skin, but made a mistake of ordering her with default face-up and missed the note that the one on the official website is just a one-off :doh. I plan to send her head for face-up commission to make it suit her character more.

    44. I ordered my DF-H 65cm body (3 part torso) back in March and it just arrived a couple days ago. I will post pics of it later next week with the DIM head I got it for. First impression I didn’t think it would be good, but now I’m warming up to it- I like that it’s not super tall. It’s extremely kicky though and I’ve pinched my fingers a couple times with the torso piece slips out of place. Would hot glue sueding the torso piece and leg joints help?

    45. I also received the same 65cm boy body recently. I found my boy somewhat floppy and kicky right out of the box -- he easily fell out of a pose. But I tightened all his elastic (I string my dolls quite tightly anyway) and put kips into his hips, shoulders, and ankles, and he's been much more stable. The kips are giving enough friction in the joints so that helps him hold poses reliably, but I might end up removing them and properly sueding those joints with pleather (which I prefer over hot glue-only sueding).

His upper torso does occasionally slip out of place, which is annoying, but tightening the elastic seems to have helped. I don't plan to suede the torso, but we shall see!

I liked this body the moment I unboxed it. It feels very well-engineered, but needs some getting used to. I've been able to get my boy (Kanadoll Mars) to do some wonderful things so far.

    46. Thank you for the tip :D i will try tightening the string before sueding. And wow that is a fantastic pose :XD: I have underestimated the potential :chibi What resin color did you get for your Kanadoll boy? It looks like a very good match.

    47. Thanks, and you're welcome! I pose my dolls a lot and demand a great deal from their bodies, that's why I did a lot of maintenance on this DFH body right out of the box to get it up to my standards. ;) I think tightening elastic should be enough to solve most issues.

I asked DFH to colour match my doll to Kanadoll normal - they agreed to do it, no extra cost. You can ask DFH (ask your dealer to pass the message) if they can colour match to a different company resin -- if they have the resin colour in their library, they should say Yes. But they won't if they don't have the reference colour already. Always worth asking them.

The body turned out very close to my boy's head -- all the yellow undertones are there. There's a bit of pinkish tone to the resin so it's not 100% perfect, but I think this will mellow out over time and the body will end up matching his head (which is 6 years old and a bit yellowed anyway).

    48. Hi Would like to ask help, if anyone here currently owned an DFH normal yellow skin?

    49. I do! It's the male 68 V2 body, and some hands (jointed). I also have their WS if you need a comparison?

    50. Sorry to butt in, but I have a question of my own... may I know the wrist circumference of your 68cm boy?

I want to get some option hands for my 65cm boy, but DF-H doesn't have any specifically for his size... the 68cm boy has plenty though, so I was wondering how close are their wrist circumferences. Thank you!

Edited to update... Someone else helped me out with measurements. Turns out that 68 boy has wrist circumference of 5.5cm, but my shorter 65 boy has wrist 6.5cm. 1cm difference is pretty big! Not sure if 65 can wear 68's option hands... I might ask DF-H themselves to see what they recommend.

    51. I did a hybrid thread here if anyone interested in seeing DF-H/DIM hybrid with a Luts hybrid :chibi

I have another question but for those who have DF-H in white resin- when my body came, it had white resin paws attached to the hands instead of normal hands (probably so hands would not damage during shipping). Is the white resin for those paws DF-Hs normal white resin (like are all DF-H white this color/ formula) or do they have a different white? Click the link in my post if you want to see the paws.

I have other dolls that match that white resin- I’d order more bodies if I know for certain that is the color of their whites.

    52. I think those are just dressing hands to easily go through tight sleeves. I doubt that they worry about them being the same color resin as the doll.

    53. Aww that’s a bummer.

    54. I don't see why DF-H would go out of their way to use a different white resin color then their own just for the paws. So, it's likely that the paws are the same white resin color they use for their bodies and heads.

    55. Sorry!! But yeah, my 68 has a 5.5cm. It’s interesting that 65 is larger- i do know that the jointed hands just labeled “1/3 Male” (at least they were when i bought them maybe a year and a half ago) fit both the 62cm boy and the 68cm v2 boy bodies perfectly. It stands to reason they’d fit the 65 as well then, but i guess the 68 option hands are more custom fitted in some way????

    56. @krystina: The white paws are the same colour as their white resin. I ordered a doll in white resin and he came with cat paws. The colour was a perfect match.

    57. Awesome! Thank you @Zacarias

    58. How curious! My DFH 65cm body arrived with his default hands and no paws/dressing paddles, not even separately. And I ordered my doll around the same time as you did - about a month before you, I think. I did request a custom colour-matched resin, though.

From DFH's product pages, the 62cm boy has a 6cm wrist. You might be right - maybe the jointed hands are made to universally fit all those 1/3 boys, but the 'static' option hands are sculpted for the specific bodies. (I've also noticed that the double joint design for 65 boy is completely unlike the double joints on the 62 and 68 boys. They must be made by different sculptors.)
I'll check with DFH to be sure.
