I ordered my first full set doll ever from the DC discontinuation event and I’m so excited to get him in but I’m absolutely dreading the wait. I think he will definitely be worth it though as he was the doll that got me into the hobby! He is the Vincent head and faceup but with the Hyman full set and body blushing!
Thanks! I’m so excited to see him in person!! I also wish there were more out there. I didn’t find too many owner photos of him when I was looking
Last two days going around the idea to have Ingemar at home If I’ll decide to have it, he will be my first (hope only one) SD. A bit confused about size, but this body-02 and face
I just paid off the layaway on my dolly!! (I'm lucky I could pay it off early thanks to commissions!!) I'm still sad I gotta wait forever but I'm hoping itll be within this year ;w;
Ooooooh....I'm hoping for a big order from them now. Got a Julianne blank on the first day to order them, and a Susan from DDE came in as my first DC doll...which made me want the Julianne /even more/. Oh I can't waaaaait~
Bjd divas is paging someone, they been trying to contact the person for 3 weeks already. Their doll is ready to be shipped. They posted it at instagram. Check it out if it is you.
Weird, i don't see any post like that on IG now, and on FB i only see that now their CS person is out, so i'm not sure if i should email. i almost hate to ask, but did they say which doll it was?
I heard someone elsewhere say they located the person and it's been resolved They only gave a first name and last initial and a vague 'order is ready'. I imagine it'd be bad business to disclose any more publicly about someone else's order
cool, i was thinking more like "if you ordered one of this doll contact us" i'm glad it got resolved. i have a few orders hanging out there too.
About two days ago, I contacted ACBJD wondering if I could switch my order for a DC Evangeline head over to peach skin from white. While she did get back to me that sadly it's not possible anymore, I can't help but be excited.... After all, if manufacturing has gotten to the point where DC can't change those kinds of details.....then mayhaps......pakidge sometime soon?
I just got the shipping notice for my Alan! I ordered from Alice's Collections back in November. I'm really surprised he's ready so soon, especially because I ordered the fullest. I'm excited to have him home!
Just paid the shipping and got the tracking number for my DC order from BJDivas. I know the number won't work yet, the post is closed on Sundays, but yay, the final stretch!
I'm honestly not expecting my Julienne till June/July, especially not with the whole lockdown thing. I mean it'd be nice to get her earlier but yeah, she'll appear when she appears.
Got good news today! My Elizabeth is here and ready to ship out, just got the email from BJDivas, and now have a tracking number, she’s finally on her way I ordered last January I wanna say, during one of the discontinuation events so it’s been a pretty long wait, but BJDivas has been great and I’m excited to have her home soon
Yesterday I placed an order for Cecilia head in Alice's Collections. I wonder how long I'll wait... I'm still waiting for the body that I ordered in March 2019 with two discontinued heads ( Lance and Lydia). DC first confused colour ( in August) and later, in January, they sent only heads. And then the coronavirus epidemic began. However , in January I also received Nicola in gray skin on the Isabela's winged body which I finished paying off in November. It was surprising. I keep my fingers crossed for everyone waiting!
My order(s) arrived! The Snow Nymph head is even more beautiful in person, and I couldn't be happier with her. The Charon, however....well. I don't think I'd buy body-blushed/faceupped from DC again. I love her faceup, don't get me wrong. And knowing that she has so much articulation, and much of the blushing is around the joints, I was expecting chips eventually. But straight out of the box, she's got scratches, scuffs, chips...they sent her in a weird position in order for her to fit into the box, and just straightening her out into the intended pose (where her joints are able to lock), there's SO MUCH chipping -- some new, some worsening from existing chipping before I even tried to pose her. I'm afraid to even handle her. And she only stands in one specific pose, after a lot of fiddling around. Otherwise she's a total ragdoll. I'm kind of heartbroken. She's absolutely stunning....if you don't try to move her, or look too closely. I'm so bummed bc her sculpt has so many incredible details. Photo of her, looking beautiful and delicate and I love her: Spoiler: Pictures of the damage, which are a big ouch BECAUSE she's otherwise beautiful and I love her
She is beautiful indeed! It's such a shame that painted joint areas chip. Part of me wishes some of us were brave enough to dye joints just for a chipping experiment
Oh, I just had a little question too. I knew DC had shifted to the metal CoAs, but is it normal that the little cardstock card that came with it didn't have the pic of the doll either? There's nothing to indicate which CoA goes with which doll.
Yeah. I miss the doll-specific cards, but at the same time, I understand why they changed it. With an inventory as big as theirs, and the annual discontinuations, it's just more efficient for everything to be streamlined.
i got my Nicola today! the tracking wasn't saying anything, and all of a sudden it was just here! i am going to have to do the whole unboxing probably tomorrow, but very exciting! Plus i got word my BJDivas orders are coming too!
@Calico, is there something you can ask the company about the damage? Do they fix scratches like that? Now I'm worried about what my Nicola A's body blushing will be like. He (he's transgender) has those beautiful wings that are going to come blushed. @Grimalkin, mind posting your box opening link here of your Nicola? Which one did you get, A or B? I can't wait to get mine! Ryu
Hi Ryu! yes, i will put the link when i get it put together i've done the wipe down, but need to do the routine with packages thing these days bring to us. i'm practically rabid with how much i want to open that box. it's big, like double the depth of a regular DC box. Mine is blank though, no blushing, so maybe a little disappointing right now. my plans hopefully will redeem me... mine will definitely be a dark angel of sorts, given my resin tribes. i was looking to convert mine to male as well, if you are swapping some parts, maybe we can trade notes. i've got some ideas, but won't be able to do them for a while, since that's on layaway too. i'm sad for Calico too, that is a very pretty doll, and i'm sure it's so disappointing to have the blemishes. i've had two arrive with broken parts (they sent replacements), and a third with a scratched part (they said to sand), but blushing is sort of different, would they want the whole doll back, or do they send new parts that are painted? has anyone had any experience with that?
I get the "having to wait at least 24 hours before opening" thing, but its better to be safe than sorry, right? I usually wait at least two days, but that's just me. Its cool that you didn't get any blushing, that way you can make him what you want. What color resin did you get? My boy is going to be green, I can't wait! I'm not even sure what I want to name him at this point, Nikolas is just a bit too close to his sculpt name. Ryu
i got the white resin, it helps me with having a blank canvas since i'm super new to doing all this Also, since i like working with cooler tones for most, and for sharing bodies/parts the white is a little easier to match. i have some of the other colours in my group, hard to avoid if buying in stock or second hand so i will learn to adjust for the undertone. names - funny how some you know right away and others take longer to find... i'm not sure yet about mine either. my 1/4 sized tribe has a lot of creatures and anthros, so i guess i will see how this one fits in with everyone else's lore. the first time i saw the DC pictures i was sold though... those wings...
@Grimalkin congratulations with Nicola ! Looking forward to see an unboxing thread, how about possibility ect.
Honestly, I don't know that they would. From what I've heard from others, getting dolls with damaged faceups and blushing from them is kind of...not unlikely nowadays. And repairing the blushing I'm fairly certain would involve sending the whole doll out. After a year and a half, and the big disappointment, I'm not sure I'm up for the hassle of all that. I did contact the dealer in hopes they would reach out to DC, but I'm not expecting much to come of it. Proooobably going to sell her, and just thanking my lucky stars she was so limited so I probably won't take a massive loss, even with the chips and scratches in the blushing.
@Grimalkin, OOH, white resin! I love how he looks in it blank, I can't wait to see what you do with him. And take your time, remember, you can always wipe and start over if you're not happy. Practice makes perfect, after all. Be sure to post your box opening link, I'm sure I'm not the only one eager to see him! I'm so glad I'm not the only one that's going to make their Nicola into a boy! And those wings! It was not only the absolutely adorably cute face that got me (although I would have gotten Nicola for just the face as well), but those wings! It was the "Okay, I need this doll" deal-maker for me! @Calico, have you considered having someone re-blush just the chipped parts? After so long of a wait, a little longer wouldn't hurt, right? She's such a cool doll, and I really feel for your heartbreak, but there is some things you should probably consider carefully before re-homing her. Whenever I have such a decision to make, I always ask myself "If I sell this doll, will I regret doing so later?" "If I sell them, and then change my mind, am I willing to pay whatever markup the seller might ask for?" Honestly, if it was me, I'd simply have the blushing touched-up, but then again, that's me. I've also heard from friends at meetups that "DC dolls often need both sueding and wiring to help them stand." I'm well aware that my Nicola will more than likely need both, but to me, he's worth it. Good luck with whatever decision you make. Ryu
My Landa should be here tomorrow! My roommate's body arrived today. The box sizes are so different it was cheaper to ship them separately.
@ryu, honestly, he/she is so pretty, i might work the situation into twins or alter ego... the wings indeed, the factory pics actually really sold me, with how many poses were possible. and those hands.... i need me more of those too. i can't wait to see what everyone does, there seem to be a lot coming in! i really wanted the moth version of Laney, but missed the order period, just too much other stuff going on for that $. So, now it's just the DC skeleton winged one coming and some DV winged so it's nearly a flock (or murder if you think crows ha ha) I know for sure the box was in a warehouse for 20 days, just sitting, so i just got the outside stuff off today with gloves & did the thing. i gotta get all the pics up, but it is absolutely as advertised, gorgeous. they cannot wrap it for safety and put it in the suede bag or box, so be prepared for that. they have all that inside a cardboard DC box. so once you get her unwrapped, you can fold the wings around her & she fits into the suede bag.
What a great line! Have you thought of adding this quote to the Funny Things You said since getting into the Hobby! thread? You should! Oh wow, @Grimalkin, they come with a suede bag? I had no idea! I have to admit that I'm expecting him to be a bit scraped up, especially after reading your report, but that's okay. I have a friend that does faceups and body blushing who I can send my Nicola off to do touch ups on once COVID is gone. Thanks for the heads-up, and I'm eagerly waiting to see your pics! Ryu
I also really want a nicola to either mod into a boy or a genderless character But that won't be for a really long time, it's a hopeful dream for the future, they'd just fit in so perfectly with one of my character groups
Oh, I have no plans to actually mod my Nicola, he's going to be pre-transition. I was simply going to have him bind and maybe I'll make or find a packer for him. Ryu
My DC Laney shipped from Alice's collections on the 21st! Hopefully she makes it through the system soon and gets home ok. I'm still waiting on a pair of hands from Angelesque from June but they only get orders sent to them every few months so they might just be stuck in limbo. I can't wait to get Laney so i can start working on her!
@devilsandswords is your Laney the moth winged or human? She is such a beautiful sculpt, congratulations on her soon arrival!
@Ryuichi Sakuma 13 I mostly plan to have mine modded as I'm really leaning towards them being a genderless being I definitely shouldn't be planning, but I'm low-key planning. Hopefully there's not a discontinuation again any time soon
My Elizabeth finally arrived! All in one piece, surprisingly even her blushing seems unscathed and after some of the recent posts about DC blushing I was honestly fairly worried about it but I’m absolutely in love with her, and the wait was excruciating but worth it lol
She's the winged body! Still stuck in exporting limbo. Her body xy was an instant love but her face took a while to grow on me till I saw the blank head.
Here is the link to the box opening of my Nicola, as requested i hope i've got this right: Box Opening on DOA, if that doesn't work, they are also my Flickr. and, a small pic for here, can't resist... the wing posing is amazing! Also, @devilsandswords - i'm jealous in all the best ways, i waited too long and missed the moth version. I cannot wait to see yours!
i wonder if i need to take apart the wings completely to spray MSC... hoo boy. So, i also got the other box which had my Hathaway and Medeas with skeleton wings (plus a couple other lil things). a bunch of things seemed to come in all at once! it is amazing how much smaller Hathaway is from Nicola. Medeas had a broken ankle, but his delicate wings were ok *whew*. I hope DC will replace the calf piece since the break is at a critical place for him to be able to stand. his head cap was rolling around in there. i'm taking a set of pictures each night but it takes me a while to get them together and up. Hathaway is next. I wish i had a better wig for her right now, but i'm still looking. also it was weird, as soon as i put eyes in her she looked younger. maybe the face up will help. Edit: OK here is the link, i will put in the mini DC thread too: Grimalkin's Hathaway Unboxing
Hello my favorite waiting room^^ Its me again with fresh DC order, this Time a SD body Y-02 Well, someone going up... Unfortunately Cannot say it about my bank account balance though. ... Anyway, Waiting period for blanc dolls for now is around 4-5 months, so I really hope there are enough orders on this body, so the producing period will be not centuries. But still should find a head-of-my-dreams to this body, so I’m really not in hurry for now I’ll sit here quietly in the corner
well, if i haven't spammed too much... i got out the last DC box from the big shipment and did the opening shoot. those wings gave me some grief, but we've got them on now! Here is the thread: Grimalkin's Kahik: Doll Chateau skeleton winged Medeas and a little pic of him posing: more on my Flickr will still be around for awhile more, my layaway motto: in for a penny, in for a pound... thanks for looking!
I just looked at the wait list. Has DC’s wait time been reduced to about 4 months? Or has it secretly become 14 months? I asked for a 15 month layaway for an order with Divas because I heard another company’s wait time varied quite a bit, but also because I expected DC to take 9-10 months. If the wait time is much shorter, I should arrange to pay off my items much quicker, just in case. I ordered a Y-02 body in peach and B-07 in white.
Hmm 4 months would be nice, I’ve an order from end of Jan I’m pretty excited about. But I’m also expecting 14 months, instead
I just heard from Alice's collections that my Julienne is ready! The wait time really seems to vary :/ Sidenote: my real name is Nicola so I'm getting bizarre whiplash scrolling
I did a 12 month just based on what I'd seen of DC's wait times (and how long it took me to get some replacement pieces they let me order)... I figure I can always pay it off ahead of time if she shows up sooner, but it makes me less antsy than the other order I'm waiting on through them.
@Grimalkin oooh, he is so stunning! Those wings are so cool! Are they easy to posing? Winged creatures are my mail concerning recently ^^ @Pandy Yes, I think the producing time Is vary , depends of sculpt maybe, I’m not sure. My blank Bella on my way to me already, DC made my order within 4 month exactly. And I also just-ordered Y-02 but in pink, so we probably will be in same batch
Thanks for the replies! It looks like maybe I’ll have to put additional money aside just in case the companies actually pull off four months, but I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I do love the look of those original bodies, I’m glad A-02 is still around. What will you use yours for, @Eva Brown?
@Pandy I adore almost all Adult bodies, but their format not really suits me unfortunately -_- I ordered Y02 generally for my grail Hubery also DC. Unfortunately he was discontinued several years before I start to be interested In bjd hobby. And this body as his original , suits just perfect. What about you, who will be matched with it? ^^
I’m hoping that it’ll work with either my Sio2 heads or my Dearmine Arthur head, but it’s a bit of a stretch for those. If I’m unlucky, it’ll go to the Fairyland head I got as a trade last year. It was kind of an impulse purchase, really, but I have so many heads, someone will use it.
My Alan has arrived! I ordered him in November and he shipped late April. IMG_20200513_151052_685 (Please forgive my messy desk.) There are a few quality control issues with his fullest. Mostly, the wig they sent is completely the wrong size and won't fit on his head, so he's borrowing someone else's for now. I'm still very happy with him, though! He has so many legs.
@Milkweed Oh congratulations! Very tender boy. White skin tone is more suitable for him in my opinion
my dc laney arrived yesterday! shes in the white skin and she's so smooth to the touch! her packaging was VERY thorough, so she arrived with no breakages whatsoever. There's some tiny tiny chips in the socket of one of her wings, where one of the silicone kips they've placed in there has slipped. It's not much and i was expecting to deal with some issues with them, so as long as i fix the kip and keep an eye on it she'll be fine. She also stands! I was expecting to have to keep her on a stand (when they arrive) but even with those giant wings she's pretty solid! I'll try and get some better pictures of her wings and other details for an eventual box opening/arrival thread.
