Your girls are certainly looking all cozy and cute in their winter outfits.

(Those ear muffs are so cute! :thumbup)

    4. @Rabbit-moon :

Thank you! I love the ear muffs & stole. Here's the portrait I took of 2004 Shimmer Sydney.

This one isn't very seasonal... but the lighting was nice. She was my first Tonner. I thought she would be the size of a barbie. Big shock.

    6. @brightberry: Lovely! Thanks for sharing. I thought the same thing when I got my first Tonner. Whoa! So much bigger than any other vinyl doll I'd had!

      • x 3
    7. Brightberry, Wow! Nice choice for a first Tonner! She's so pretty! I love the colors in that photo. :love

I was lucky that there were no surprises for me on the Tonner dolls. Locally there used to a big doll shop in Orange County that carried Mel Odom's Gene dolls, and Tonner's American Models back in the day. When Tonner issued his first Tyler Wentworth dolls, this shop had them immediately. The owner was a huge Tonner fan, and we got to see and handle all the dolls before we bought them. (I was so sad when that shop closed. :...( )

    9. FYI for this group - there are some Tonner dolls on Mandarake. Some of them are listed as "Tonner dolls" - but others are listed as "Toner."
      Ink toner? Facial toner?
      Well, I giggled.

    10. I collect Ellowyne Wilde, but mostly prefer the earlier dolls. My gateway Ellowyne was A Telltale Heart, which I purchased new in 2010. Other than that, I pick them up on Ebay when the mood strikes. I currently have nine of them and a nude Rufus.

I also have a raven-haired Miette, a raven-haired Tyler Wentworth, and a redheaded tiny Kitty Collier.

    11. Stellarphenomena, your Ellowyne looks adorable in that outfit. :D

      Is that a Tonner outfit?

Thanks for the heads-up MaleficentMrsofEvil on the Tonner dolls listed on Mandarake.

Welcome to the Tonner thread Koryuu! :D

Sounds like you have a nice collection. Drop us a picture anytime. :thumbup

    12. @Rabbit-moon: It's a LUTS msd outfit! Thanks. I use a lot of BJD clothing for Ellowyne, Neema etc.

    13. @MaleficentMrsofEvil: Thanks! I'll check it out.

    14. @Koryuu: A habit I am prone to! I shouldn't get more. Hope to see your gals.

    15. You asked for it.....

Let's start with my first love and some of her spooky friends.

From left to right: A Telltale Heart, Miss Match Prudence wearing a lovely goth outfit made by Jodie's Creations, and Renaissance Romance in her coffin that I will someday stain a deep mahogany and upholster in ivory satin (because we all know that Renaissance Romance is a vampire, right?)

Here is Nevermore sporting a pair of earrings I made,
      [IMG]

Chills wearing a pair of genuine gold studs, and a cameo pendant I made for her,
      [IMG]

And Red, White, and Very Blue also wearing a pair of fun red bauble earrings I made to go with her outfit. Apparently I really enjoy making jewelry for Ellowyne. :)

Here we have Sushi For One wearing Barely a Sigh. Yes, I made the bracelet. I bought her nude and just recently I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire her original outfit! I'll probably post a picture of her wearing that another time.

Essential Ellowyne Too with raven hair is next. I love her sweet little face! She's wearing a handmade MSD-sized dress that I got at a swap a million years ago. It just required a few minor alterations to fit her in the torso. I made her golden shoulder bag from an old Avon solid perfume pendant, and a bracelet and pair of earrings with tiny amethyst beads.

Too Wigged Out Too was originally purchased for my daughter in 2010 at the same time I got A Telltale Heart for myself. She recently gifted her to me since I am actively collecting Ellowyne and she isn't. Here she is wearing several of the Ellowyne separates and the hat, shoes, and necklace from Multiple Tears. She's holding Sybil in her arms, an activity that is sure to end badly for Ellowyne.

And last but not least, my beautiful Far East Day Dream Ellowyne. She is a strung resin doll with a bald head ready to be wigged, and a headcap that allows for eye changes (I put green glass ones in). I'll limit myself to a single image of her here, but I could spam this thread all day with the pictures I have of her in different outfits wearing different wigs. Here, she is wearing Multiple Tears accessorized with a jaunty little pink velvet hat and purse that I made for her, as well as a copy of the necklace Too Wigged out is wearing in the previous photo to complete the look.

I'm going to leave Rufus out for the time being since he's just... nude. Someday, when I finally either purchase or make some clothes for him, I'll post a picture.

I hope you enjoyed this brief tour of my Ellowynes (and Pru!). I'll share my other Tonner dolls later. <3

    16. Wow @Koryuu!! Your dolls are gorgeous! I'm loving seeing these girls in their stunning fashions. Happy you shared!

    17. Holy Cow! :mooWhat an awesome collection of Ellowynes you have! They are all so gorgeous!

I'm just blown away by the lovely outfits and the cool jewelry that you've made yourself! That's incredible!:aeyepop:

Thanks so much for posting all these great pics of your girls. :D

    18. @Koryuu wowwww! Your dolls are gorgeous! All of them are amazing but I adore that first picture. It's very eerie and lovely.

      • x 4
    19. Absolutely love all of your Ellowyne's. You've done really well with the jewelry too and especially how they are all in scale to the actual dolls :D I have always loved cameos and this one is beautiful. I don't know where or when my love for them started as I don't own any and I've never had any relatives or friends who have owned any, but I adore them just the same. This one is really beautiful.

      • x 4
    20. There are quite a few Tonner fashion dolls on ebay right now with very low starting prices. Thought maybe someone here might like to have a look at them.

      • x 2
    21. Hey Merlin's Mom! Thanks for the heads-up!:D I look on eBay all the time, but am trying to keep a strict hold on my wallet.

Have you bought any new darlings?

I've been looking at all the Tyler 2.0 sculpts that I missed and, unfortunately, those tend to be pretty pricey. There's a Celebration a Paris convention doll that I would love to get, but she's almost $500.00 bucks! That price is outrageous! Granted, she's exclusive and limited to only 100 dolls, but I still think her price is ridiculous. :chomp::chomp::chomp:

      • x 4
    22. @Merlin's Mom: Yep! I can't help but look several times a week. Tonners are my weakness. Recently got a Sydney for about $80!

How about you, do you have your eye on anything on auction?

      • x 2
    23. @Rabbit-moon: She's lovely! Yeah, I don't want any Tonner bad enough to pay that. I think my limit on a NRFB would be $250-ish.

Luckily for me, I rarely see an original outfit I have to have, so I can find the cheaper nude dolls!

      • x 2
    24. Rabbit-moon she is lovely, I can see why she would be on your wish list.

stellarphenomena/rabbit-moon I don't collect the Tonner fashion dolls just the child dolls so I am also always looking at the Tonner listings. The child dolls usually go for quite a bit less than the fashion dolls, but the fashion ones up lately started as really low prices for a complete doll so I thought I would share. I would be sorely tempted if I collected them. I have bought from this seller before and have always been pleased with her products.

      • x 3
    25. Oooooh! Stellarphenomena, which Sydney did you get? :D

I agree, Stellarphenomena! The $250-ish range is about my limit too. But, it has to be a pretty spectacular doll to warrant that kind of cash.

I think I might have mentioned it before, but I lucked-out last month and got a lovely Breakfast at Wentworth's Charlotte, complete NRFB. She was an absolute steal at $112.00 bucks. She was such an incredible price that I couldn't pass her up. And, happily, Charlotte is one of my favorite sculpts. I haven't taken any pictures of her yet. She's so pristine; I'm almost reluctant to take her out of the box. :sweat
      [IMG]

Thanks Merlin's Mom! The black gown is so dramatically classic on that doll - I love it! :aheartbea (Someday she will be mine! :evilplot:)

Oh yes, I remember now that you don't collect the fashion dolls. Do you collect the Tonner Betsy McCall(s) dolls? Those are 8-inch little girl dolls, right? All Tonner dolls are welcome here. :love

What have you been up to lately? Been collecting any other new bjd tinies?

    26. Rabbit-moon I have gotten out of the bjd's, they were killing my pocket book :). I collect Ann Estelle and Friends (10") and Ann Estelle and Penney & Friends (18") for Tonner. I have number of others, but only a few of the smaller size as I like to make outfits for them and the 8" are getting hard for me to sew and crochet for. I love looking at the fashion dolls, but that would start a whole new can of beans:roll:

    27. @Rabbit-moon: She's 'All Glamour Basic Sydney' (2013). In great shape! I changed her blonde stock wig (poor quality and didn't like the color) out for a brunette wig.

      Congrats on Charlotte! She's lovely.

    28. She's beautiful! She looks so good with the dark hair. I'm having a hard time picturing her with blond hair looking good.

    29. @Mu Shu:
Terrible wig!! Even WORSE than the promo pics!

I'm going to see if I can make it usable with a wash, conditioner and trim. If not, I'll toss it. Although I don't care for the color. I like platinum, strawberry and dark blonde - but that yellow blonde is my least favorite.

    30. Thanks Stellarphenomena! I'm so delighted with my new Charlotte.

Wow! Your new Sydney looks so gorgeous in that dark wig! It really compliments her beautiful face. :love Congrats on a super find!

What size wig does a 16 inch Tonner girl wear?

      • x 1
    31. Hi @Rabbit-moon:

Thanks for the compliment! I love her. The Tyler & friends wear size 4-5! (Ellowyne 6-7) Hard to find adult styles, as most are made for the 1/8 BJD's and have bangs.

    32. Hey Guys, I forgot to share with you this darling little acquisition I got before Christmas.

I think I mentioned before that I used to collect Tonner's Kripplebush Kids back in the 90s. Anyway, I found this little girl on Ebay, and she was a freakin' steal for $35.00 bucks! Wow! :aeyepop:

It was a Victorian Christmas set that I've always wanted to get, but it was always kind of expensive. Obviously, the Dolly Gods wanted me to finally have this girl. :dance

      • x 4
    33. @Rabbit-moon I think you WIN for steal of the year so far! $35 in an incredible price especially with 2 extra outfits!!! And those outfits are super nice. I have a few 8" Tonner dolls and several Betsy McCall's that I would like but their prices have been for over $150 and that is just too much for me for that size.

      • x 1
    34. @Rabbit-moon: Awesome gift set. I love Victorian & steampunk themed. Did you collect a lot of 8"? It's amazing how many types of dolls Tonner put out in the day I never got any of the childlike ones. I do look at all of it on Ebay though. Cheers on the great find!

    35. @Rabbit-moon Wow! So pretty. That’s a really nice find.

    36. Thanks My Shu! I know! Isn't it insane? I couldn't believe it when I saw her for that price. I hit that buy button so fast I almost got whiplash! She's so adorable. I still can't believe I snagged her for that price. Sometimes, I just get lucky.

But, I'm with you on saying "No" to ridiculous prices. The pricing on Tonner's dolls just keeps going up. Occasionally, I've had luck in the past if it's a man selling the doll. A lot of times, men just see the doll as a silly girl's toy and don't realize it's a high-end collectors doll. That was the case this time. The seller was a man. :XD:

Thanks Stellarphenomena! Tonners clothing for this set is so beautiful! The material is so lux feeling. I can't tell you how long I've wanted this set. And, so perfect for Christmas.

At the time, I was collecting the first iteration of Tonner's American Models, the 19 inch ones, and the Kripplebush Kids. Not a whole lot of the kids, I may own 8 or 9 of them. I also bought a couple of Betsy McCalls, the 10 inch ones. I might have 3 or 4 of those. As soon as Tyler was released I stopped buying the models and the kids and put all my doll money into the Tyler girls.

What's funny is that all my Betsy McCalls have just fallen apart. They were held together with thick rubber bands that just disintegrated. :doh

Thank you Brightberry! Every once in a while I get lucky and find a real treasure for an awesome price. :thumbup

      Holy Cow! :moo That's nutz!!!

Yeah, I guess she was exclusive, only 75 dolls in the whole world, but $300 for a basic doll?! Whoever bought her was a "hard-core" full-on Tonner fangirl with a big bankroll. No way would I pay $300 dollars for a basic doll.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I got a good laugh out of this!

    39. I have 3 Patsy dolls. I bought them at one of the Wilde conventions from so long ago. These two are my favorites and I can't pick.

So far, I haven't worked up the nerve to try and fix their eyes. I was considering heating them up with a hair dryer and then using an eraser to move them. Not my idea, I'm sure I read that somewhere. I just fear destroying them.

      • x 1
    40. I love the Patsy dolls - sadly most of them had to be let go during a time when I was laid off work and bills needed to be paid. Red Riding Hood was a favorite that I never owned though.

      • x 1
    41. You can soften their look somewhat by removing the eyelashes they come with and putting on more delicate lases, also a little blushing under the eye can help. I have about 30 of the patsy dolls, and have made some of them into boys with no lashes. A more drastic way to change the eye is to remove the wig, cut around the circle on the top of the head, remove the old eyes and put in new eyes. That is pretty drastic though.

      • x 2
    42. @Merlin's Mom OOoh interesting! I have another I think I can experiment with.

    43. Brightberry, they are so cute! I love the one that looks like Wednesday Addams. :D

When was Tonner making these dolls?

    44. Not my favorite version of her and I certainly wouldn't have paid THAT price. There are a couple other Catwoman versions of her with black hair and red lips combo that I think are stunning.

      • x 2
    45. @Mu Shu: I would have redressed her! Didn't like her as Catwoman.

Yes, the Peggy Harcourt ones are very nice. I'd get the first one for a good price.

      https://www.dreamcastledolls.com/com/DCfeline09.jpg

I always liked the 13" inch too.
      https://www.dreamcastledolls.com/com/DC13cat11.jpg

There was the Halle Berry one.
      https://www.dreamcastledolls.com/com/DCcatwom05.jpg

On another note, I took my 2007 Amazonian out of the box last week, and was so bummed - her outfit is completely falling apart!!
The boots are turning green. On research, it appears all the productions have done this by now and so there is no replacing it. It's irreparable and can't be replaced!
      https://www.dreamcastledolls.com/com/DCamazonwar07c.jpg

      • x 1
    46. @stellarphenomena - I too would go for that first version Peggy Harcourt! That's awful about the boots - cheap materials used for expensive dolls. Same thing is happening to early bjd outfits I have and it's a bummer for sure.

      • x 2
    47. @Mu Shu:

Everything I have bought with pleather has only lasted 10-15 years, and then it starts flaking and its inevitable ruin. I'll display Wonder Woman as long as I can, but as soon as I go to remove those articles they will be in the garbage!

I'll never buy anything like that in the future, unless I plan to accept that I will re-dress it and will certainly not pay full price or premium.

      • x 1
    48. What a bummer Stellarphenomena! The outfit on Tonner's Amazonian is so cool! I can't believe we collectors lay out all this money for a high-end doll and they use cheap materials that will disintegrate as time goes on.

I'm having the same issue with a lot of the early faux-leather clothes I bought for my BJDs. And, a lot of those clothes can't be replaced.

I totally agree with you! I'll think twice before I buy any pleather items for my dolls. :huh?:

P.S. And, the Catwoman doll...that didn't even look like Catwoman! She wasn't even wearing black. Isn't black a requirement? :kitty1

    49. @stellarphenomena That is so disheartening. She is such a gorgeous doll too.

I keep forgetting about my Sad Sally. She lives among the Pullips. I love the idea of her hiding out in closest and being the tiniest bit spooky without meaning to.

I've tied her shoes many, many times. The fact that they come undone all the time is a little bit spooky on it's own.

      • x 3
    50. @brightberry: She's adorable. I never got a Sad Sally. I don't think she looks sad at all though, just inquisitive!

      • x 2
    51. Thanks Stellarphenomena! I forgot about 40s Catwoman. I can see where they are coming from now.:kitty2

(Actually, as far as my hubby is concerned, the only Catwoman who ever mattered was Julie Newmar's Catwoman. I think it was a puberty-thing with most boys back in the 60s. :blush)

Wow Brightberry! Your Sad Sally is so darling! Look at those eyes! :aeyepop:

Sad and spooky; she's perfect! :D
