I have my Larina on the pink skin and it's a pretty close match

Dollzone normal yellow is really yellow, it's like light tan, and dim normal color descends into light light pink, just like dollzone normal pink.

 

I have my Annabeth head on a Dollzone normal pink boy body and the match is perfect. I will try and find the photos to share here but I do have them on my instagram account if you want to look. My Larina head is on a Doll Leaves girl body and the match is also amazing.

 

Seems a lot of people are putting the "girl" heads onto boy bodies, I'm glad it's not just me ;p I was looking at the same dollzone boy body you have for my flowne. Thank you for sharing, I had a look on your instagram and the match looks great!

 

I think alot of people are putting them on boy bodies, my Annabeth just had to be a boy, the sculpt doesn't look feminine to me anyway. I look forward to seeing a Flowne boy, my Flowne is a girl but I think it will make an amazing boy.

 

I keep an eye on DimDoll's webpage and sometimes a head pops up for sale again, at the moment there seem to be Flowne H heads available if anyone still wants one. I am so tempted but I have no money and can't really justify buying another head.

 

I've only ever seen one boy Flowne, and he was absolutely freakin adorable. I love seeing people make their dolls the opposite gender of what the makers intended, it's always really interesting to see what they do with them!

 

I'm about 1 week away from getting face up photos of my Flowne. Hoping by the end of next week, she is ready to be sent back home to me.

 

I just wanted to post this here in case it helps anyone else making a DIM hybrid. I tried out my flowne head on my clover doll Grover's NS pink body and the resin match is pretty much perfect. I compared the two headcaps and I couldn't really see a difference between the two. The neck might need to be modded a bit, but if you're looking for a nice, cheap, slim body, clover doll are a really good option! I really like the clover doll body, it poses nicely and it looks really pretty.

 

They announced on their facebook page that they will released new Happy doll in May!!

My face-up artist just finished my Benetia heads and I ordered a body yesterday and I went to look for the perfect eyes and I realized - I'm unsure what size I should get! Does anyone have a Benetia and/or half-eye Benetia and are willing to show me the eye size they have in them? I'm not sure if they'd take different size eyes or not!

 

I think it's just going to be a head, not a full doll. (I asked a question and Denny said the bodies aren't ready yet. It'll be another 2-3 months.)

I don't know if this helps, but my Larina has 12mm(13mm) Eyeco eyes. She could probably get a way with 10mm(11mm).

 

Hi guys~ I have a quick question! I have a character that I'm planning to use a half-closed eyed Larina for, and I was wondering if a Doll Legend 44cm boy body would be a decent match proportion and color wise... Does anyone have this hybrid or something close? I really love this body and head for my boy Gunnar, but I don't know if they'd fit together. (I thought I saw some DiM/Doll Legend hybrids somewhere, but I can't find them now!) Any help would be great!

 

That should work. There's a Doll Legend girl hybrid on the last page of the hybrid thread. The Miru head is close to the same size as the Larina head. The boy body is slightly bigger, so the Larina head should look pretty good.

Aha! That's the one I saw earlier! I can't believe I couldn't find it again... But thank you so much! It does sound like it'd work, which is fantastic for this character~ Now I'm kinda bummed that I have some preorders I want to get in on coming up...I really wanna get Gunnar right now! (Though finding a closed eyed Larina secondhand might be kind of hard...)

 

My Flowne is home And, by coincidence, I found a body that seems to suit her perfectly.. It's a DollLove 1/4 girl body! The color match, in my opinion, is quite good. I happened to win a DollLove doll, and some outfits, very cheaply as an ebay BJD lot (with CoA/box), and I'm just thrilled with the match!

And.. gosh, I love how Memento Mori painted her..

Your Poe is beautiful.....love her face-up! I'm just about to post my Larina hybrid.....I can't get over how different a sculpt looks when painted by different people. This is why I love BJDs so much

 

I've been looking for a dedicated hybrid thread but can't find one so I'm posting this girl here (and posted her in the DC thread as well). This is a Larina head with face-up by Oleysa and I've put her on a DC pink Kid01 body.....perfect match IMO

Poor girl is wearing someone else's clothes until I find time to costume her. I love this face and love how she's been painted. Her name is Turvy.....she has a twin on the other side of the world called Topsy, who is a Pierrot clown. Turvy is maybe going to be a circus dancer/ballerina when I get to styling her

The boy body! Well, they're amazing hands anyway. I wish I'd thought to order hands from DIM when I got my heads, but now I guess I'll have to find them bodies with good hands. I was going to put my Miru on Loongsoul's new body, but the head that belongs on it, Wanwan, is really growing on me, so I think I may just get a whole doll and find another body for Miru.

My Amelia

 

I finally have a body for my DIM heads! From left to right it's Planetdoll Emma (original head that came with the body, will be sold), DIM Larina half closed eyes and DIM Laia (modded by me, still needs to be sanded smooth). I was hoping to put Laia on this body, but her face is the smaller of the two and it made the final proportions just a tad too mature looking for what I had in mind. The body fits Larina better, I think, but Larina was supposed to become a boy character, so... once I've grown firm in my decision she'll be on my work table getting her chest sanded down!

For now, I thought this picture might be helpfull to others wanting to hybrid. The Planetdoll body and head are their "normal" skin, which is a tad darker and yellower than DIM's normal skin (which is a little pinkish). Other than that; size-wise the hybrid looks great for both heads, and the neck and neck-hole fit perfectly together!

 

I love the mod on your Laia head! Can't wait to see your dolls when they are finished!

 

Ahhhh, I can't believe it! I saw the Larina head back in stock only an hour ago and now she's ordered. I'm hoping to hybrid her with the doll leaves girl body. I still can't believe I just did that. I haven't even created her character yet (though she was on my wishlist).

 

@xxkittymexx - Congrats! It is almost funny to see the Larina head back up. If only some other heads went back up for sale too!

But when did the new head Violeta go up? And those attachable? ears are cute!

The notice for the release of Violetta on DiM website was posted on 05-24-17 15:11 and the head product code confirms that date too.

She's so cute!

 

Oh I like Violetta a lot! She reminds me of the older DiM's. And they have a new faceup artist it looks like.

How do those elf ear parts work though? The human ears are clearly part of the faceplate

 

It looks like they are offering white skin now too, very tempting....

 

@Cydril I asked about the elf ears on the product Q&A a few days ago and got an answer from DiM today:

 

I just got my Annabeth back from a face-up after 'sitting' on her a few months. Why are there so many people that hybridize the DIM heads with other manufactured bodies?

 

Well, the discontinuation events were fairly sudden for some folks, so a lot of people just bought up the heads, as they hadn't financially planned on a full doll.

There are also some who aren't huge fans of the Happy body, though the GSE seems widely regarded as a great body. So I guess it's all down to preference.

 

I hear posing and aesthetics a lot for reasons.
Personally, I fall under what Lilac mentioned, the event popped up suddenly and it was cheaper to just get a head.
Honestly the only reason my Larina ended up on the body he's on came down to pure curiosity and and bonding mishap that left me with a floating body

 

I also brought the heads because it was the last event and I could find money for a couple of heads but not whole dolls. When they arrived it was just luck that my Larina went on a DollLeaves body, I had ordered the body for someone else, it arrived two days after the Dim heads, didn't suit who it was meant for but looks as if it was made for the Dim head.
I looked at the boy Dim body and didn't like the aesthetic for my dolls so ended up buying a body that suited me.

 

After handling a friend's Happy girl, I wasn't impressed with the posing, so I would have gotten hybrids anyway. The only thing I regret is I should have ordered hands to go with them. I really liked the DIM hands.

I had him with me for a while but this is my first post here

 

I was planning a Dollstown Elf body for my Annabeth to make her the older sibling ... but she's so adorable on the Happy body (which I bought hoping to get my hands on an Amelie for a baby sister) she got to keep it. I don't own any other immature MSD bodies so I can't compare posing, but I love the sculpting and look of the DiM bodies.

I finally gave my dyed DIM Ace a face-up so I thought I'd share him here. Not thrilled with the placement of his eyebrows (they're higher than I intended) but my hope is once he has his wig that won't matter much.

At least he looks very approachable, which is what I wanted. One of his nicknames is "Teddy" after all.



I'm also trying to decide if his 16mm eyes are too large for him.

 

He looks great! I love those green eyes. I will repaint my Ace someday, but for now his factory faceup will have to do.

 

Thank you so much, @thessalyrose! I think he's going to stick with these eyes after all---I just love how they compliment his skintone. I'm hoping to order his wig here in the next few weeks.
