DiM (Doll in Mind) Mini Discussion Part 5

HI guys.....looking for opinions on the DIM Happy body.....I'm trying to decide if I should use that body, or hybrid my Flowne. I really like the look of a slim mini and was thinking about putting her on fairyland or a DC body for a waif look. But if you have a DIM Happy Body, can you give me opinions on it? Like posability and stuff, thanks!

 

She can't sit to save her life. She's stable, don't get me wrong, but leans back (unless you engage the torso joint). On the other hand, she can kneel - with single-jointed knees! Quite a feat. She stands nicely. That's really all I've done with mine so far

 

@jenniekay I owned her and she poses really good! I don't know what @Jany did with her/his Flowen but mine is Sitting and Standing really god and another plus point, she can lie down and look up to you like this

And also she can pose like this two as well



I know the example Dolls are not DiM's Happy Body but its only an example.
I tried it today with my Flowen and it went out really well
She looked really beautyful.
If my Camera wasn't broken i would make you Photos of her, maybe if u can wait, i could take some after Christmas (cause i get a new one on Christmas Eve ;3 )

my Laia and Larina heads have arrived last week! I'm only sharing Laia right now, for that head is the first to have been modded into fitting my tiny-eyed crew. there is still some sanding and finishing work to be done, but the shape is there : )
they'll either be Annan, my young river spirit inhabiting drowned kids' bodies, or Noa, daughter of the guy in my avatar. still undecided on who is gong to be who!

My DIM Flowne head arrived today and I want to hybrid her onto a Minifee Moe body, but the thing is- I have absolutely no clue how to do that xD Any help?

 

I would be interested in knowing that too.

@IAmSinon & @Myobi_Flower - I'm also waiting on a Flowne, and I have a MNF Active-Line body in-house. I can take pics when she gets here. That might at least give you a place to start. I will say that FL NS doesn't match at all.

 

@Kymera - I was afraid NS wouldn't work. I was so excited just to order a DIM that I didn't look into resin/hybrids until after I ordered her.
I have read that it would have been easier if I had ordered my Flowne in WS but I got her in her NS.
I'm not really sure what to do.

 

That's weird, I have the ns flowne head and minifee moe body but they match pretty well? Unless I'm blind xD

It's possible that one of the ones you've got has mellowed, since I've got a pretty new NS fairyline girl and she's definitely a darker colour than the DiM head, but it could also be resin variations. I also don't think it's so far off that you couldn't make it work with some colour matching blushing.
Also for the actual how do you do the thing, step one is probably restringing the minifee body to use a hook rather than the neck connector and step two could potentially be sanding the neck to make it a more normal shape for a doll without a neck connector.
There are a bunch of other hybrids that could work though and if it's specifically poseability that you're after, can I recommend Loongsoul, which may need a bit of blushing to match but are amazing posers and also don't require any modding.

 

So where does dim NS fall on the spectrum? Is it really hard to say based on the batch it was made or can you usually say their NS leans more to pink tones or yellows? Or is it easier to just ask people what they hybrid their NS heads to what NS company bodies? Sorry if I worded that terribly. Been a long day at work and I've been doing data entry all day. Brain is fried.

 

I don't know if it changes batch to batch, but my larina at least is what I would consider a VERY light, more pink toned NS. Most of the NS I have in my collection (Fairyland, Souldoll, Luts, Little Monica, Crobidoll) look really yellow and dark in comparison. Myou doll NS is probably about the same lightness, but even it looks a bit more yellow. Loongsoul NS-Pink looks kinda okay colour wise, but it's a bit dark as well. Loongsoul NS-Yellow just looks really yellow. Like inside of a lemon yellow to me.
I have definitely seen some great hybrids, but off the top of my head, I cannot think of what the actual bodies people have used are

 

The hybrid I really like belongs to aquavalkyrie on instagram. She has her head on a minifee m-line body. She had told me the match isn't perfect and the neck does sit a little high, but I think her girl is perfection. If you guys want to see what one looks like on that body that would be a good one to check out.

 

Yah, that's one of the girls I follow. I don't mind at all how she looks and I wanted my girlie to look kind of like that ; ~ ;

@IAmSinon & @Myobi_Flower - You can also check out the DIM Happy Heads and Bodies Comparison thread for more ideas on what bodies might work. I think the Loongsoul version 2 girl body is proportionally similar to the Fairyland M-line body, and the resin match will be much closer. (And, IMO, Loongsoul dolls are just as poseable as Fairyland, if not better.)

 

I finally found an outfit that fits Foiwne. I'm so excited to make her my little steampunk girl!

Today I decided to go through all my stuff and try and connect with my Flowne.

She is borrowing a wig from Melody (one of my other dolls). Her eyes are also borrowed from a face I was about to ship out for a face-up.

Okay I have been reading this lovely DIM thread all the way from the beginning and it's all starting to blend together in my mind. I have a question could I put a DIM Luria on. Dollzone girly cutie body. The immature dollzone body. Will the neck parts fit? Thanks guys so much. I'm trying to help a friend, but I don't want to give out advice that is wrong. A friend is selling me her Art Body for my Laia head! I'll have the eyes opened and faceupped by Gothic Angel BJD this month. SO EXCITED.

Hey everyone! New to this thread, but I just ordered my DIM Benetia from a friend in Sweden! She didn't end up fitting into her collection, and thankfully she fits with my theme perfect! I'm planning on making her a werewolf from a series of books I have been writing! So excited!!! She should be shipped this week

I've had my Flowne hybrid for almost a year now (will be a year in April). I found a few MSD sized instruments recently, I'm happy with how the violin looks especially!

I recently became interested in DiM especially because of Flowne and Larina. Would someone mind posting photos of the various body sculpts? The site images won't load for me for some reason ffffff If I can get away with not hybriding, I would prefer so. I'm not savvy enough to mod and such ;;;;;

@Cyador Thank you! I flipped through the pages and posted a reply but ffff most of the hybrids shown were geared towards boys. Hopefully someone is still watching the thread and can show me more girl options ;;; u ;;;

 

Yeah, I also noticed that the images on DIM's site weren't working. I'm guessing that they're probably taking them down, since all of the dolls are currently discontinued. (If you didn't get in on the final sales, you might be able to buy a full doll second hand, so you wouldn't have to worry too much about hybriding).

I know your pain; DIM boy hybrids are definitely more popular. The boy pics aren't completely useless, though. You can get an idea of what body sizes you might want by comparing measurements. In my case, I really like the overall proportions of the boy-hybrids, but it's a bit harder to find girl bodies that have similar measurements.

I'm hoping to try a Doll Legend girl body for my Larina(s). Dollmore also seems to be a popular hybrid option, and, IIRC, the boy and girl bodies are similarly sized.

@Eirien and @elena kim - Your Larina's are both super adorable! Can't wait to see more pics.

 

@Kymera ffff what? Are they discontinuing the entire collection and shutting down or are they hoping to work on new sculpts? If it's the first, I really need to keep an eye out for a hybrid or full set secondhand ;;;; u ;;;; And thank you for the suggestions!

 

According to the messages that were posted on their site, it sounded like Denny was planning to release some new doll lines, but that hasn't happened yet. But, it's only been a couple months since the discontinuation sale ended, and I think some people might still be waiting on their orders, so it's not surprising that we haven't seen anything.

Hah. So, I have Larina and HCE Larina. Since they're the same character, I wanted to see how much work it might take to mod their heads so that they could share headbacks. It looks like the fit is actually pretty good; they can pretty much share faceplates.

But their magnets are opposite polarity. Go figure.

I love miniature instruments! I have a banjo (with case) that's perfect for my doll, a DiM Larina - already having that prop was the last push I needed to actually buy the doll herself! I can't wait to take photos of her with it but she needs a lot of work still (clothes, eyes, faceup).

The colors on that wig are really pleasing together, too!

Hi there! I saw this earlier in the thread, but I just wanted to double check. Would Larina wear 12mm or 14mm eyes?

 

I'd actually go 12mm or 10mm. 14mm are a bit big, IMO, but it depends on what you ĺike ands the look you're got for.

Ah, thank you! I actually realized I had some 12mm eyes here at home, so I tried them on as reference and they looked really good. If they suited her character, I would definitely use them.

Good news, though! My girl is one step closer to being finished now that I went ahead and ordered a pair of eyes for her. All she needs now is a wig and some clothes. (She's totally bald and naked right now, haha.)

 

Hey guys, I got myself a Flowne head in the discontinue event, but like many people, I wasn't very fond of the bodies so I wanted to make a hybrid.

Can anyone tell me which dollzone skin matches DIM normal skin? Dollzone has both normal pink and normal yellow and I'm not sure which one would be a match.

If anyone can help, I'd be extremely grateful!
