Just a quick word about resizing (I did not enter this competition but just read this thread): it's always best to rezise pictures bit by bit. So if you start out with a pic that is 4000 px on it's longer side, reduce it first to 3500 px, then to 3000 px... So about only 500 or so px at a time, even less. This way the picture will adjust better to less pixels (or find the correct places/readjust the remaining pixels) than going all the way down at one go. PhotoShop has a great tool for this, where the program adjusts and sharpens the pic everytime you go smaller, might also work with the other net based programs.

I hope my entry went through and the files worked! I didn't make the album private but only the images on Flickr, now I'm nervous that they don't work. D: Anyway, it was so much fun to enter, good luck to everyone!

//Edit: Actually now that I think about it, I'm not sure I remembered to list down the supplies I used.... x__x Going to cry so much if I didn't! Ugh... I should have screen capped my entry so I wouldn't have to worry afterwards so much. This is my first time entering any contest DoA is arranging and I'm a nervous wreck!

They didn't really have a place to put it so I completely forgot I hope they won't disregard all our entries.

 

Yeah I think that's why I forgot to write mine up, because there wasn't a specific space for it. ;__; I'm so disappointed now, I was so happy to enter but now it's ruined... And so is my day.

 

@tekkonkinkreet aww don't be sad, there is several of us so maybe they will make an exception for us just this once, I'm sure we all just used the basic materials anyway, I don't really get what it matters. I really think you could win too, I love your faceups.

Did anyone ask about this in ask the mods?

 

@Mitsukuni Thank you! ;u; I was really proud of the face up I did too. And yeah, I used just pastels, acrylics and gloss. I don't really know how Ask the Moderators works, but maybe we should ask if it was possible to add the info to our entries still? It's really sad if many of us is disqualified because of this, although I do understand if the admins/mods won't allow it. ;__;

 

@tekkonkinkreet I'm sure it turned out great! yeah I used those things too, nothing fancy. I'm new to doa so I'm not sure either, I'm going to try and ask though, like you said it would be a shame if we couldn't enter just because of this. But you're right, I suppose it's there call.

 

Don't worry everyone! Listing your materials was not a requirement! In the first post we said "Face-ups can be executed in any standard medium: paint, pencil, pastel, or airbrush. Some non-standard materials may be used, but they should not be the main focus of the faceup." So we were assuming that you would be using any number of standard things used for faceups and wouldn't necessarily need to explain anything.

 

Ok I asked the mods. Hopefully we'll get a favorable response soon

Congrats to all the winners! Very well earned. ^u^ Mine was #8 and I had a ton of fun painting it, especially because now my character has a new direction and I'm feeling so inspired. This was my first time entering a face up contest, can't wait to do this again!
