Chibi Unoa discussion part 3

Jun 15, 2012

    1. They can fit into clothes for Yo-SD/LittleFee sized BJD, but are taller so the clothes are a lot shorter on them, I tend to get longer dresses and trousers and stick to short sleeved styles so they look right on my Chibi girls

They can also wear some clothes for slim-mini size BJD, but are shorter so the clothes are longer on them.

Some sellers on Etsy make clothes specifically for this size of doll too.

Here are my two Chibi Unoa girls in clothes made for Yo-SD/LittleFee:

Koko is an oni and soon (I hope) she will get another oni friend, a blue Lilin :)

    3. @Teddy thanks a lot! Now I want them even more! :XD:
Am I right, that there is no different moulds like Littlefee has? All their faces are look a like and the difference between them itโ€™s emotions?

    4. @maigune your band is very cute!! Somehow it reminds me a school team))

    5. Dears Iโ€™m new at this hobby thatโ€™s why so many questions. Sorry. Could anyone, please, help me to understand whatโ€™s the difference between Fresh skin and Fair skin? Also I donโ€™t understand whatโ€™s mean by โ€œB gradeโ€ and โ€œA gradeโ€? And am I correctly understand that the itemโ€™s name like โ€œLilin body kitโ€ means she will come un assembled and without makeup?

    6. Fresh skin is yellow pinkish skin. Fairy skin is white skin (with a hint of pink). Let me check if I can find a comparison pic for you... Edit: Not my picture but here you can see the Unoa Fresh and the Fairy skin (marked as Unoa FS) https://i.pinimg.com/736x/29/c5/5b/29c55be513836cc278d9c7f0e29d1f8d--bjd-brand-new.jpg

A grade is without any flaws like white spots, bubbles, etc.
B grade may have flaws like white spots, bubbles, etc. They are sold at a discounted price.

โ€œLilin body kitโ€ means the body with big breasts. Back in the day they came unstrung but the last 2 I received (last month) they came already assembled. Unless you buy one that is painted by Gentaro Araki, all Unoas come without make up.

    7. Maigune and Teddy, your girls are adorable. My Lilin girl is a B grade, but she doesn't have any truly visible flaws. You really can't tell she's not an A grade doll, which was a pleasant surprise.

    8. @maigune, thank you for your help and very detailed answer!! :)

@clochette your girl is super cute! Is she in image of Autumn? :love
I think you are lucky one if flaws arenโ€™t noticeable!
Did you made the makeup by yourself or ordered it?

    9. Oh and I adore her styling - that's lovely!

      Teddy

    10. @clochette thank you! Your Lilin is really cute too!

Yes, you are right about the B grade. I think that the ones that could have more noticeable flaws are the paradise skin (tan) and monster skin (blue/violet) because their resin is darker.

For example, my Roron in paradise skin is B grade (same as my Rowan) and it has some lighter areas and spots but they are barely noticeable, at least for me. Besides, the discounted price is nice too

    11. Thank you...in that picture, she does look like an Autumn spirit, but I think she's much too snarky to be a pleasant spirit. Ceylon has some sass to her for sure.

She's a Gentaro Araki faceplate, Unoa Alchemy had a booth selling faceplates and B grade dolls at the Austin BJD show a few years ago, so I snatched her up. I agree, I'm pretty lucky there are not flaws, but as @maigune says, with the lighter-skinned dolls flaws don't seem to be as visible.

    12. Dears, you are all very kind answering all my questions!! Thank you!
Now Iโ€™m going to save money more quickly to adopt this little sly looking cutie :kitty2

    13. I made a new wig for Koko :)

    14. Nice work

      Teddy

    15. @maigune, itโ€™s really a good job! Green color is good for her) Please tell a secret, how to make such a good parting of hair?

    16. If you're rerooting a vinyl doll head, you thatch the parting - presumably you could do the same with a wig...

      Teddy

    17.
    18. My Lilin in monster skin arrived last Friday! I was a bit worried about the blue skin as she would be my first fantasy doll, but I love her. :D The wig and eyes are temporary until I receive the ones I have purchased for her.

Please, meet Yuko the oni. She is Koko's best friend

    20. More pictures :)

I'm so glad AL started selling these girls in monster skin again. I was out of the hobby for 7 years and I missed UnoAlchemy's order.

    21. @maigune , how did you manage to order her? I saw info that due to Covid they donโ€™t send abroad.

    22. I used a proxy service.

    23. Congrats! I actually like the color combination of her skin and eyes/hair quite a bit. What color(s) will her permanent ones be?

    24. Thank you! Her hair will be pink to yellow ombre and her eyes yellow/gold :)

    25. Hello everyone, Iโ€™m just wondering do you take outdoor your Chibis? Or itโ€™s not very comfortable due to their size?

    26. Oh yes!. I take all my dolls outside including the teeny-tiny 10cm little RealPuki

      Teddy

    27. Cool! Iโ€™m glad itโ€™s possible! Because I worried she is quite big for carrying her out. She would be the first big doll in my collection :huh?:

    28. She's tiny compared to SD sized dolls (and Dollmore Lusion is even bigger) and I take my SD kids out all the time. I'm quite big and tall,, however, so if you're small, you'll probably find Chibi size much easier to carry around.

      Teddy

    29. @Teddy, thanks! Dollmore Lusion is really very big doll! Donโ€™t think itโ€™s my size :sweat Chibi would be much more comfortable to carry around.
O, how I want the Japanese to open their borders soon!

    30. Hi, itโ€™s so quiet here... Please share more photos of your dollies! :love

    31. I can share a pic of my four girls :3nodding:

    32. @maigune, I love your dolls! In spite of the same molds, each of them is unique. The blue skinned girl reminds me Smurfette))

    33. What a cheery looking group they make

      Teddy

    34. After 14 years of being in the hobby I got my first grail dolly. My loving husband bought me a chibi unoa roron. :love

I'd love to share photos, but it's been awhile since I've posted pictures on doa. What does everyone use?

    35. Yay! Congrats!

      I use Flickr

    36. Hey! I really want to order a unoa chibi with the "roar" faceplate, I really love the idea of being able to swap out the teeth! However, I noticed that theres the face plates sold seperate and then the full sets of head, body and faceplate...is there no way to buy a head by itself? Do you have to buy a full doll?

also @maigune your pastel girls are so cute I want to cry ; w ; theyre amazing

    37. I think you have to order the doll with the default faceplate, plus the extra faceplate(s) of your choice, they don't offer the option of picking a specific faceplate. I might be wrong about that, but I THINK that's the way it is. Same thing goes for the different ha nds, feet horns, ears etc. They're all sold separately.

      Good luck getting it sorted.
Meanwhile, here's a wave from my Madicken with the Roar faceplate:

    38. @Teddy Thanks so much! I just wanted a little confirmation since I have next to no experience ordering from non-US sites ^^;;
Your doll is wonderfully painted! Love the outfit <3

    39. Thanks - I can't take any credit for that - it was Krowbar's work. The outfit is a LittleFee/YoSD sized outfit from Boneka

      Teddy

    40. So I was poking around doing more research on the Chibi Unoas. I still have a hybrid doll idea I want to pull off---ResinSoul Pixiu body with a Lilin head, specifically the "roar" faceplate. Well, I found a cool solution and wanted to share! Rather than trying to buy a full Unoa just to use the head (or trying to get one second hand) I found a person on Etsy that has made casted head pieces to fit Unoa faceplates!
The link is attached here, they have several options in their Etsy shop that range in price due to the quality of cast.

Headback to Adapt Unoa BJD Faceplates 8A | Etsy

The gaps are too bad, but they could always be made less noticable with either a piece of fabric on the inside or a nice wig with bangs! What do you guys think? I'm quite excited by the idea!

    41. The gaps probably won't show at all even in a wig without a fringe - the edge of the faceplates on my two Chibi's isn't visible once they're wigged.

Sounds like you've found a great solution. I'm looking forward to seeing your completed doll.

      Teddy

    42. ah yes, Buffdoll headbacks are awesome. I have a Unoa MSD with one.
