I'm so excited!

 

Joining here! I ordered Leyah as a fullset through Alice's Collections. My first Charm Doll. I guess it'll be around a 6 month wait, judging by you folx' experiences. That seems to be the average wait time these days for most companies. That's how we get ourselves in trouble, waiting...

 

I got my Charm Doll Eric with face up a couple days ago. That makes it a total of 7 months. Obviously, world's events contributed to a longer wait time, but he was worth it.

Yeah of course! Is there anything in particular you'd like to see?

 

If you have other MSD's, maybe him next to them interacting? Head shape without a wig so side and back maybe? any comments on the faceup quality?

 

He's my first and only BJD so I can't do the first request. Honestly, the faceup quality is pretty close to the company photos. It can definitely be better. but it's not disappointing to me. The scratch marks he has on his face are not as 'glossy' as the company photos.

He is pretty tightly strung, but I'm also not the strongest. He does pose really nicely though.

Oh wow! Thanks for these. Is his head cap magnetic? It's at such an angle. I make wigs so this is super helpful for me to plot out how much fiber and what kind of cap to use.

 

It is magnetic. I'm not sure if it's just me but the magnets feel pretty weak. They come off pretty easily.

I also forgot to mention the eyelashes are glued in too. The one on the right isn't completely lined up but it's probably fine one I have an eyeball inside for him.

Just ordered a charm doll Casey!! I haven't been able to find owner images anywhere, but I loved the manufacturer pictures so much I had to buy with the sale on Alice's collection right now.

I think it's a full set... I hope so, because I love the space girl vibe!

Update (or lack there of) ~
I asked about my Eric's progress, and they said there's still earlier orders from December that Charm Doll is working on... so it'll be awhile yet.

 

Yeah, I ordered my Lucas back on Dec. 13th. I asked a few weeks ago since I had a question about a different order and was told another month. So, around the 7th month mark to give you an idea.

 

I ordered a nude Charm Doll Dyami back in march from Alice’s collection on a short layaway. I haven’t seen anyone post photos of him but I couldn’t help but love his sculpt!

 

Would it be rude to check on the progress of my doll? I ordered him December 1st, 2021. I honestly forgot about him until now (out of sight, out of mind. Ahahaha) Do I contact Alice's Collection or the company directly?

 

I contacted Alice’s Collection for an estimate since I was already asking about a clothing order taking awhile. Turns out they were just waiting on one shirt, so they offered to have that sent with the MYOU boy I’m waiting on instead if I wanted the rest of the clothes sooner. Alice is really nice. Each time, I got an email back later that day or first thing the next. I’d contact Alice if that’s where you ordered.

 

I've received my blank Dyami! I ordered him at the end of December last year and he was posted out the beginning of June. So was about 5 months to give others a rough time idea of production speed (though that includes stuff like New Year/Golden week and covid shutdowns in China etc which likely added a bit to the time).

Is there anything in particular you wanted to see? Mine is white skin which makes the details a little hard to see but I'm happy to grab some photos

 

Oh!! I'd love to see any sort of pictures you have of him. My mother ordered that sculpt. I guess it's the faceups that are adding months on the wait time...

 

Here's a couple of quick snaps! Full body-

First impression is that the body is on the larger side and the head seemed a little smaller than most MSDs. I tried on some wigs and larger 6-7" wigs fitted the best. My standard 7-8"s were too large. The body stands and poses well so no complaints there. The only issue I have is that the head wants to sit off to the side like in the photo. I can't see any twisting on the strings but the stringing is very tight so might just be because of that. Or there might be an issue with the shape of the neck hole on the head that's causing it, I will need to investigate!

On the head sculpt I particularly like the little snaggle tooth, it's a bit more visible in real life. The eyes seem quite small too but haven't had a chance to test out some eyes for what size he takes

How is his head/s hook strung? If he's snappy and all. I do restringing/sueding and stuff on a bunch of dolls so might have tips for fixing it.

My Charm Doll Lucas is on the way! I’m so excited I ordered him back on December 13, so it’s been almost seven months. I just got my MYOU doll, also from Alice, this week, so based on how long it took him to come, I’ll probably get my Lucas early next week

 

I've taken his head off and can't see any issues with twisted strings so think the head snap is a combination of the very tight stringing and the shape of the head hole where it sits in the neck. I'll have to add a ribbon loop to ease of the stringing and see if that helps. For now, popping a kips disc in is working to stabilise the head.

I've measured the eye holes and they are 10mm. I found I needed to use 12mm rounds to avoid gapping at the sides of the eyes. So I would suggest 12mm rounds with irises on the smaller side or maybe 10mm with a flatter shape might work

 

My coppelia (from Alice, ordered early February) is on the way! Super excited

 

I was going to suggest hot glue or a KIPS disk in the neck there! Good call.

My Charm Doll Lucas came today A day shy of seven months since I ordered him. He’s so cute, and his face-up looks just like the photos of him. He’s kind of tight. It’s more noticeable with getting him to sit. His arms move nice and keep their pose easily. His head also does like to move to the sides, but it’s not bad. My Dollzone Rory was worse than him, and he doesn’t really do it anymore after months of having him.
I’ve only seen, like, one other person post photos of him, at least that I saw back when I ordered him, so here’s some photos of him.



He’s got 14mm eyes. I have some small iris ones, and those looked really nice, but all but one of my dolls have a larger eye look to them and I really liked this color for him, so I went with these ones, especially since they look more like the character’s than my smaller ones. I got Lucas to shell Jaskier from The Witcher.
Now I just have my Charm Doll boy from February to wait on. (At least until I save up to order my next two dolls, which will also be Charm Doll boys )

Oh yay! Congrats! I was hoping to see some people receiving him from the same time that I preordered. I’m waiting on the full-set so I feel like it might take a little longer.

 

Just started the layaway for Little Lord- Eric with face-up and the elf ears. He's a cutie and works better for what I have in mind than the doll I was going to get. I really like my Charm Doll Lucas, and I'm also excited for my Charm Doll Leo from February to be done. I've got one to two months left waiting for him, so getting closer now

 

Coming up on my one-year anniversary of ordering the Charm Doll 42cm Girl Body (CDB-G42-02). I ordered the body from BJDivas in white resin, blank, and paid in full on August 6, 2021.
No word on any expected delivery times. Sigh.
I don't know if I'm going to keep this one, either. (I'm waiting on a Miracle Doll head I purchased in September of 2021.) I'll have to see if it fits with any of the hybrids I already have.

 

Holy crap that's a long wait! Have you tried messaging them to see what the hold up is?

Paid off my Dyami via Alice's. We're at the 2 complete months since ordering, so it looks like 3-5 more months?
Normal yellow, blank, nothing else. Hopefully it'll be around the same time as the other boys I put on the same layaway

 

Both my moms Yellow skinned Fullset Dyami and my Eric w/ a faceup in pink skin arrived today! 8 months of a wait!
faceups are WAY more intense in person than they are online. Eye sizes I do believe on the website are 1 size too big as they take up the entire eye opening. Otherwise they pose like a dream fresh out of the box!

I just got the tracking for my Charm Doll Leo! I’m so excited
I had been basically told sometime in September, so I’ve been counting the days till I needed to keep my eye out for the email, but I just got it when I was setting my alarms before bed.

 

My Charm Doll Leo also arrived today! He’s so cute!

He’s not as tight as my Lucas was. Lucas, I could feel how tight he was just lifting his legs up for awhile. My Leo closer to the other dolls I’ve had come. I’m also not having any issues with his head wanting to turn to his sides.

Though when he came, some of the eyelashes were smushed on his right eye, and I ended up having to re-glue part of it, which is fine since I’ve had to re-glue my one doll’s eyelashes a few times, so I’ve gotten better at it. Then the very tip of the leaf detail is smudged. His hair hides it, so I don’t really mind. I didn’t realize till after I order him and saw the face-up picture later that I realized he had it.

Anyway, here are some photos of him after I opened him and all done up because I just haven’t seen any photos of him that aren’t the company photos.


This is, of course, before I fixed the eyelash.

I’m so happy with his eyes. I got a pair of 12mm since that’s what it said he wears, and they look pretty good!

I would be afraid of smudging that leaf even more, cuz I'd just constantly want to pinch his cheeks.

Luckily, the smudging seemed to have happened before they sealed it. Like, I touched it right at the top to see if it somehow happened afterwards, but nothing happened. There also wasn’t any green on the tissue placed inside the face protector. So, it was just the eyelashes it seems that got smushed, idk, maybe when they placed tissue in with the usual. I don’t remember the tissue being there when my Lucas came, but just some glue fixed the lash right up.
So, back to wanting to pinch his cheeks.

 

He finally arrived September 8th! It took about 5months and some days. He’s a lot heavier compared to my doll chateau Alva but he is lovely.

 

My CD Aria finally arrived four days ago! I only have blank photos of her on my IG (with my hybrid DF-H Takumi Kazama who's her partner) and she's currently at the faceup artist's, but I have to say, she's adorable off the box.

 

Darkwind took some photos of the Dyami and Eric that arrived here the other week. I was struck down with COVID, and am not that happy with how their faces look so haven't been jumping at photographing either of them. Their heads are WAY smaller than anyone else in my bjd crew as well. They do pose great though!

 

I've placed order for Alina at ACBJD this month. Just come here to say hi, there's a plenty of time before she arrive.

 

I just ordered Ayaan. I heard all kinds of things about Charm Doll’s face-ups but I really hope his looks as good in real life as it does on the promo photos.
Upd.: Sooo… the estimated delivery date is October 2023. Ooookay…

 

Niel - WOW, that's insane! Guess you can settle in for awhile.

One of my dolls faceups is rather bland (Eric) and the other one has WAY too much color (i dulled it out with some pastel).

 

Well, at 14 months (almost 15), still waiting on the blank Charm Doll body. I asked Alice's Collections, and they said that the same body takes about six months.
Sigh. I think that ACBJD is the better dealer to order Chinese dolls from if you can pay in full, and BJDivas should seriously consider dropping them, if the company is going to be so slow to ship dolls to them like this.
Edited to add: I think it's safe to say other US dealers already have cut ties with Charm Doll. I know that Fabric Friends and Dolls and Doll Peddlar already have (FFD only carries in-stock dolls).

 

I have a suspicion that this isn't a Charmdoll problem, but a BJDivas problem! Time and time again, people report slow waits via Divas that no other dealer actually faces, for various companies. I think every waiting thread I've been in, if somebody has ordered through Divas, they've had to wait double time.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that, that's just way way too long. When I got my charmdoll - from AC - a couple years ago, it was a nine month wait. So kind of inbetween what you have right now. If they're as fast as six months now, I'll definitely be impressed (edit: read further back in the thread, yep 5-6 months is the current norm, nice!). Fifteen is ridiculous though.

I contacted the dealer and asked to cancel my order and send me a refund.
Those are Dollshe wait times. Forget it. Not worth it.

I was gonna go pester Alice for an update, but I double checked wait times here and we're at the short end of things so Dyami's probably not ready. And also the holidays are starting to ramp up (I work retail ) so I'd want to avoid shipping now, and during the Chinese New Year, so really I should go back to forgetting about him until February. Maybe the RingDolls I ordered in the same layaway will also be ready by then lol.
Eta: RingDoll is moving pretty quick right now, despite all the Hua Chengs, so I emailed to ask anyway.

 

Eta2: Um. Alice replied I missed the shipping email, and that they'd been sent! I looked up the tracking number to check--- OUT FOR DELIVERY TODAY by the time I get home from work

Let me save you some time - there isn't one. Every other US-based dealer already broke ties with Charm Doll. I think it's time for Divas to do the same.

 

I know that fabric friends do orders for dolls they don't have in stock from other times (or time, rather) I've used them. I can't find anything that confirms they've dropped charm doll - they still have them listed on their site. So it could be worth inquiring with them if you wanted to use a different dealer. ymmv.

Although if there's a news post from them saying they won't accept orders for charm doll, I don't mind being corrected. However them only dealing in 'in stock' dolls is false.

Edit: only noticed their "no longer carrying products" notice is a single line on one hub page people are unlikely to visit because of the drop down menu. ‍-_-; They used to have discontinuation notices on their main page to be fair. (But still, the main correction was that they don't just sell in stock stuff. 'Cos the doll I bought from them wasn't even listed on their site - only the manufacturer)

 

I still can’t see it/find it. Honestly though, Charm Doll’s record from this thread is impeccable and the waiting time is down to 5-6 months now, so personally I am not worried in the slightest. You can go back for pages, and the issue with Divas is the only time an issue has come up. And as I said, I’ve been in enough waiting rooms where the common thread is Divas to raise an eyebrow. That dealer does also have a cautionary warning on their profile.

All in all, order through Alice, New Clover Singing, or directly from Taobao if you want to be sure of the best experience I think. Those dealers are really excellent!

I love their new bodies Charm Doll just came out with, I am desperate to find an excuse (and money) to order one!

 

Just ordered a Charm Doll 1/6 anime style doll Kekelu from Alice's. She's too cute and there's a discount to celebrate her release. She'll be my first Charm Doll.

 

I ordered a fullset little lord eric back in august. Put him on layaway and finished his payments in November. Just waiting for him to arrive now. Based on my nude dyami which took 5months I’m expecting to maybe receive him in February or march due to holidays and everything

 

I ordered a fullset Circe back in August from AC's so I'm just popping in here to say hi and hopefully she'll be shipping soon!
