    1. I don't think I'll get one specifically to be a character doll but I do plan to make a few outfits for mine. I'd love to make her a Saber, Suigintou, or some Haibane Renmei costumes because I love the outfits. I guess she'll be more of a cosplay doll rather than a character doll.

    2. My Johnny Depp minimee is on it's way!!! :aheartbea :dance

    3. Well, my Glorfindel kind of became Glorfindel on accident. I definitely didn't buy him intending to make a character doll. I wanted an Elf, and all my Elves are Tolkien-style. He just happened to have the exact same personality as I picture Glorfindel having (and the blond hair down to his arse probably helped).

I don't really intend on making any more character dolls, but you never know, it could happen.

    4. I know! X3 Except I have yet to find an awesome Eve sculpt, so poor Doll-E might be alone a long time. I guess that's in character for him, though. ;D

    5. I have a Crobidoll Thor girl that I customized as Souseiseki from Rozen Maiden and I really hope to get another dolls to customize as the other Rozen Maidens soon. I already kinda know what molds will be, I just need to find a new job to make the money I need :sweat

    6. oops....do Minimees count? cause i already have one of those...i dont think of him as a character doll tho.

    7. I have two minimees but I don't think them character dolls because they do not represent the characters they are made after. I always feel like getting a doll of an anime character I currently like but I don't think it would be a good idea because I'm too volatile.

    8. I oroginally never wanted to get such an expensive item and then turn it into 'someone elses' character, but I'm going to end up doing it anyway. :sweat
I keep buying dolls with plans to turn them into my own characters, or give them a character once I get them, but they never seem to inspire me and seem slightly lifeless.
I'm a huuuge fan of Heroes and have been since it first aired so I have plans to start buying dolls and dressing them to resemble the characters and see where it goes from there. :)

    9. I've got one Character doll...a Dollzone Yue, being the Dok from Hellsing ^^;
I also want to buy a second doll, being the captain from Hellsing...it's not only because I'm a fan, those characters also fit my taste. So it doesn't make really a difference

    10. Well, I'd wanted to see if the Corinthian from Sandman could be done well as a BJD... but it turns out somebody already made one of him, and he turned out great! D: So my hopes are dashéd.
The more doll molds I see the more characters I think they could possibly 'play' T_T I've got a little textedit file full of who'd I'd cast for character dolls for this character and that. (Particularly Dracula canons, because I'm that kind of obsessive as well.)
And I have these weird recurring cravings that always end up coming to nothing of having a yo-sd scale Abe Sapien or maybe a really teeny sized Rorschach. Except I could never find a fedora on that scale, sigh...

EDIT: Also, dude, dude, dude. I want a BJD of the Warden from Superjail! :D

    11. I have Toshiya the minimee, but does he count? (I just like his sculpt, I didn't buy him for teh fangirlyness lol)

I watched Labyrinth recently, and it all went downhill from there... I reaaally want a Soom Sabik to have a Jareth the Goblin King BJD :D
So, sometime in the future, yes.

    12. Read your edit, and Omg. That would be the best. thing. ever.
I was joking with my boyfriend about dressing up one of my dolls like the warden; he just laughed.

    13. I have a dollfie dream of Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis. And i turned my DZ feilian into Reiko from the manga "Reiko the Zombie Shop". :) Everyone else is an original character.

    14. Hahah, after I get all my OCs for my story Black Stars in doll form, I would actually like to get a D.O.C Twin-B to make a character doll of Rolo Lamperouge from Code Geass. ^-^;; Or maybe I'd do one of Belephegor from Katekyo Hitman Reborn... no idea what scuplt to use for him though. =A=||

    15. I have plans to get a couple Minimees (Audrey Hepburn, Heath Ledger, etc.) and make them into certain characters that they have portrayed in the past.

    16. Im going to be getting a MSD minimee of Toshiya. He's going to look adorable :D
I always wanted a BJD that looked like my favorite musician. Even my non minimee looks like Mana XD I gave him the lips and makeup to resemble Mana and he looks just like him lol Cosplaying BJD Mana

    17. I bought my Reno minimee last week, and he is staying as the character because I have been a HUGE Reno fangirl since FF7 was first ever released :aheartbea

    18. I'm preparing to order my first doll, but he's not going to be someone elses character. Every time I'm looking at dolls I keep finding ones that look like MY characters, rather than seeing one of my favorite anime characters. I mean, I suppose if I wanted to for some sort of even I could get Tanso to cosplay someone, but otherwise he's just going to stay as my character.

I feel limited by trying to use someone elses character who already has a set way of expressing themselves, and people get IRATE sometimes, if you try to make them grow as a character, because *gasp, horror* That would be OUT OF CHARACTER. >> Honestly. I'm as big a fangirl as any for some characters. Mostly bad guys like Sephiroth (FF7), Seifer (FF8), Muraki Kazutaka (YnM), Farfarello (WK), and the like, but using them and them expanding on them in any way always managed to make someone spaz out.

Not that I CARE particularly, but I get bored of defending my descisions. I'd rather just not take them out in public and my dolls are TOTALLY going to be attention hounds. >> Especially this one, the character just LUUUUUUUVES to be looked at and admired.

    19. My first 2 dolls are heavily based on Eowyn and Faramir from LoTR - in fact, they basically are them, since I painstakingly try to make every last detail go accordingly to the book. I also have an Eomer type character doll in progress - he just needs his head. One day I'd also like a Lothiriel doll - but for her there will be a lot more capacity to imagine, since all Tolkien wrote about her was a one-liner in the Appendices.

    20. The glasses might be the hardest thing to find, but come on, wouldn't it be awesome? :D

    21. My Evie is based on the main character of the novel I'm writing, and once the Gareth David-Lloyd Minimee order goes through, I'll have my very own Ianto Jones to cuddle and love...:aheartbea

    22. I want a lot of character dolls. :sweat I don't know if I'll ever get all (or any) of them, though; I have a lot more OCs I'd like as dolls than canon charcters. But here's some I'm considering:

      - Code Geass: Lelouch, C.C., Suzaku, Nunnally, Euphemia and Kallen
      - X/Tsubasa/Tokyo Babylon: Kamui, Fuuma, Subaru, Hokuto, Seishirou, Kotori
      - Maybe a Star Wars doll? XD

    23. I have a plan to do my character doll that base on manga's character name Benten from "Zone-00" because He's so gorgeous XD.

    24. I am seriously considering making a doll based on the heroine from Avalon Code, just because I love that game so mutch and she's so darn cute :whee:

But I would also love to have prince Valdo from Avalon Code! So handsome and cool :aheartbea

*Avalon Code is my current obsession*

    25. I'm planning on making a doll that's 'based' on a character from a video game. She won't be that character exactly, but her style, mannerisms and name will be taken from the character. Only... character is male, and she will be female. I think it'll be a fun spin on things :)

    26. yes!!
I think character is an important element for me to make a decision from a lot of dolls.
when I saw the dolls face, the feeling about this doll will jump out~

    27. I am waitting to my new boy that his chararter base on my favourite character Eugene from the novel called "sweet poison"(It's yaoi novel so you will not know it)

    28. I totally wasn't going to do any character dolls not when I have so many original ones of my own but -- then Kingdom Hearts happened to me. Like it does and suddenly I have a Roxas.:sweat I've totally learned never say never with this hobby because every time I think I won't do something, I end up doing it!

    29. I kinda want to make my own Graverobber one day... but I have no idea what mold to pick '>.<
He's also waaaayyy down the line for the waiting list, so while I hope that'll happen one day, that day might not be for a while

    30. I would someday LOVE to have a Brandon Lee doll ;o OR a Bert McCracken hahahahaha I know they're celebs but still, so wonderful <3

    31. I haven't gotten my first doll yet, but the likelihood that my first will be a character doll is pretty high, seeing as I love Dollfie Dreams. I'd love to get Fate T. Harlaown, and will likely snatch up a Hatsune Miku DD should they ever make one. In fact, if Volks doesn't make an official one, I'll probably make a custom Miku myself. (I'm a bit of a Miku slave, really. . .)

    32. I would really love to have a little Raistlin Majere for myself xD But that will be when i finish with my original characters (two more left!! xD), and then i'll look for a nice doll that fits his character, and i'll customise him, etc, etc, etc... I'll want to die when i'll try to make his skin look fine... x.x

    33. Wow, let's see here @_@

I currently have Janaff from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance+Radiant Dawn, my persnickety little Delf Harang XD
      Although he's the only character doll I have at the moment (one of 2 dolls I currently own), I have plans to own a whole lot of the characters from the same game o_o;;

I also have plans for a Larsa and Gabranth from Final Fantasy XII (MNF Luka and SSDF Cane, respectively), and my first love/dream doll's personality and look is based on Kasumi from the Dead or Alive games - she's a Volks F-01/Four sisters ^^

Oh yeah, and I also have a Piposdoll Bao on my wishlist to be based on the little Udon Fox demon from xxxHolic... :aheartbea

And these are all among the majority of OC's I plan to have as well...*_*

    34. Well I've been into dolls for four years or so and still have never made a character based doll. It's just not what I like to do with my dolls. I buy based on how gorgeous a sculpt is and usually nothing else.

    35. I only have characters made by myself.
I think it's too much work to make for example Harry Potter, and then the doll shall have Harry Potters personallity and I wouldn't could use some of my own ideas...

    36. Nah, I'm not that big of a fan of any single character from any book or movie.
There are lots of costumes I'd like to make for the dolls I do have to dress up as certain characters, but my dolls are all my own characters.

    37. Oui, I've got two...ish. I like character dolls, personally; they're sort of like three-dimensional poseable fanart. Shirou is Hitsugaya Toushirou from Bleach; Kiyo is Sengoku Kiyosumi from Prince of Tennis. (The 'ish' is Katen, who's a Bleach universe OC.)

If I wasn't on a major dollie-purchasing hiatus, I'd have more. But alas, no more dollies for me for quite some time. (The lure of a Lockon Stratos doll compels me. Season 1 version please.)

    38. I prefer to put them i the personage, to create it entire I, it sentiria even but mine, itself is not somewhat rare, certainly it should be super to have a bjd of some personage that love with your life xD but in my case I love the of my histories and would try to reflect them in my wrists

    39. I've been planning on making a doll based on the character Midori, from 'Midori No Hibi' and I think I'll give it a go once I've saved up a bit :)

    40. Holy... YES. YES PLEASE. *_*

I was considering one myself, actually... Well, I was considering making a character of mine into doll form, who happens to also be a pilot (totally different, though). However, he'd end up dressed up as Lockon for sure at least a few times. = )

(So few futuristic/mecha fans in this hobby... :( )

    41. I don’t own a character doll and I’m not planning to get one.
I was thinking about buying a minimee of one of my favorite characters but I’ve decided that I don’t want it and rather have an OC-doll instead.
But I’m planning to make some doll-cosplay in future (^_^).

    42. NEEDS MOAR GUNDAM.

I'm probably a bare minimum year away from getting another doll of any kind, barring winning the lottery. But right now I'm staring at Kiyo -- a character doll in his own right -- and going 'you know...he's got Neil's eyes...hmmmm...cosplay could be go, here'.

I am a shameless, shameless Dylandy fangirl.

    43. Def's does. D= Giant robot > vampire. Can't bite through all that meeeetal~

I considered dressing Mike up as child!Neil. Mike's even got the face-shape and all. Maybe one of these days.... Green eyes and a brown wavy wig wll make its way to my house.

No worries... I'm quite shameless too. Fangirl enough to draw fanart, which I rarely do.

    44. i don't have a character doll get but i am planning to make Gaz from invader zim. i've found everything but two items and i need to customize the outfit when i get it but i think i want to get a doll after a character because i liked the show and gaz was one of my two favorite characters, and i'd like to keep her around since the show was canceled.

    45. I might have a doll that is styled after an actual character, but I doubt I'd ever make an actual character doll. I'll definitely have my dolls cosplay them, but if I'd want a "character" doll then I would've bought an officially made one or a doll that was already made as that character and meant to be only that character, such as "action" figures or fandom statuettes. There's almost no characters that I love so much to spend over half a grand on to recreate, when I could probably get one that's officially/professionally made for no more than around $100 ^^;;

    46. Except, only for Neil :aheartbea Lyle is an exceedingly horrible character, imo, who seriously pales in comparison to his extremely wonderful twin.

I, too, was considering a Neil doll for a while, but I have too many dolls on my wishlist...so maybe I can just have someone cosplay as him occasionally :sweat

    47. was thinking about getting a bobobie ni with lilac skin and making her look like a vampanese. y'know, like from the Cirque Du Freak series? I'm in love with it right now. what I really want is a harkat munds doll, but there's no one similar enough...

    48. Lyle's a dweeb, but my heart is eternally Neil's. Ohyes.

I'm on doll hiatus but I'm already plotting to deck Kiyo out as our dear pilot for a convention next year. I think I may get an orange pingpong ball and make a Haro out of it.

    49. Yes! I actually have a Pipos gray Dali whose character and name are based off of Courage, The Cowardly Dog (one of my FAVORITE cartoons)! I saw the gray Dali and honestly that was the first thing I thought of....'it looks like Courage only in rabbit form!' XD
So my Dali is named Courage and has a lot of the same mannerisms as the cartoon dog. :)

    50. I remember when I voted on this thread so long ago. :XD: I wanted absolutely no character dolls. I didn't like the idea that a character doll would be dictating exactly how their personality would be, what they would wear, how they would act...etc. Now I'm a proud owner of 2 character dolls and I wouldn't trade them or give them away for anything. ^___^

    51. Really? I liked Lyle. He had his good moments. Obviously, I don't like him as much as Neil but I appreciated that they were two people with completely different personalities and that Neil stayed dead, without a revival in the form of an identical twin. (Not that I wanted him dead, but unprecedented character revivals for good characters irk me)

Anyways, if I were to get a doll I'd get an older male doll who would be my original character... But would occasionally pass himself off as an already existing character. I need a reason to sew space suits. :aheartbea

I don't think I'd ALWAYS keep a doll of a character that isn't my own because... My love for the characters of others is different from my love for my own, and it's not entirely compatible with dolls. That's what hoarding official merchandise and fan art is for.

    52. God, I loved Neil. Hated Lyle. Hatehatedhated the Lyle/Anew romance. Blood pressure shot through the roof over the demise of Ali. Sure, he was truly vile, but he was extremely sexy awesome made of win vile who deserved something more awesome than Lyle suddenly not sucking. I was crossing my fingers for some sort of Graham vs Ali mech action - the best pilots in the series against each other would have been AMAZING.

*coughs* But if I am lucky in the upcoming lottery, while I don't think he is going to permanently be him since I do not want to have to work out a Neil doll, if I can get my Michele he is so cosplaying as Tieria. That mean little bitch face is perfect for him. I have the glasses already.

Annnnnnd in other character doll news, I am actually putting together, waiting for the first head to arrive, full blown Lelouch and Suzaku dolls from Code Geass.

    53. I am sort of planning character dolls but not as defined and clear cut as Harry Potter or anything. I was thinking about Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet today and we already have characters from myth and legend either here or in the pipeline.

    54. Oh god, I hated Ali. Got the proper back-alley shot dog death he deserved. No heroic gundam action for him - it seriously couldn't be better. First gundam series with writers thinking a little deeper than just pretty explosions in a while. And it was perfect too - all those years of Lyle convincing himself he's not set on revenge, he was. (There's a certain point where the disgusting overpowers the sexy. I mean, I'm a fangirl of Rau Le Creuset. But Ali? I cackled gleefully when he just got left there.)[/end off-topic]

Actually, I was considering a minimee of a particular character because he had the look on his face that very few dolls have (a really bored, but half-smiling expression), and finding references for him would be easier than drawing my own... Because there honestly aren't too many mature-looking male dolls that are attractive to me. And if that were to happen, I probably wouldn't be able to resist the urge to dress him up as said character, because he happens to be one of my "four". That is to say, the four characters I'm an honest-to-goodness fangirl of, and has been for the past several years. Those are the only I'd ever consider a doll of, ever.

    55. I secretly kind of admire Ali for being so blatantly sure of himself and what he loved to do in a series full of characters with all sorts of BAWWWWW angst problems. Admittedly, he was the cause of a lot of that angst, but I've always found it hard not to like unrepentant bad guys who do their thing because it's what they love to do. And he was an awesome pilot and awesome piloting has not been given the attention it deserves in recent Gundams. The hero always manages to win thanks to magic powers and uneven mech upgrades. I think in the end I just did not believe Lyle was good enough to actually do the deed. :sweat We're so just never going to agree, hehe.

I will blab about Gundam for entirely way too long :doh

    56. Uh, I'm a Grimmjow (Oh, how I wish I could find a doll sculpt that fits him!) fangirl like no other, so it's not that I'm enamoured with the angsty good boys either (though Setsuna made an amazing progression I dare say.) But Ali? He just struck the wrong chord with me right off the bat. I guess it is something that is personal. ^^

Uh, I can talk about Gundam and my other favourite series for hours, so...

Anyways. Like I mentioned, I got four characters that I may consider turning to doll form temporarily: Grimmjow Jaegerjacques, Sakata Gintoki, Rau Le Creuset and Neil Dylandy. Yeah, I have them from four opposite spectrums. Crazy rival, forgiving/optimistic main character, manipulative super villain and a guy who keeps on dwelling on the past. Opposites of one another... And those are the only four. I'm hopefully getting a bigger doll in the future that could maybe fill two of the four spots up there, but... I dunno, like I said my interest in characters differs depending on their creator.

    57. Yes, my girl is based after the character Nel Tu (from Bleach). Someday I hope to make a Renji and a Sebastian (from Kuroshitsuji) as well.

    58. I have a Vega (Bolrog in Japan) Street Fighter doll. All though he is my first doll he is 30cm, and I just got him so his clothing is still being made. I will post him later.

    59. would dolls based on celebrities count?

    60. i don't have her yet but my secret wish is to someday get a unoa or volk's cutie and make an Ayumi Hamasaki doll :D
