Book: Tiny Wardrobe by Hanon (in English)

Nov 7, 2019

    1. Hi All

Not sure if there is a section for books with sewing patterns, couldn't find it so posting here. If anyone has loved the styles of Hanon but would love English translation there is a new version out now called; Tiny Wardrobe: 12 Adorable Designs and Patterns for your dolls. by HANON Satomi Fujii. Oh wow its so nice, such lovely designs; lace strap dress, sarouel pants, embroidered smock dress, waist apron, peter pan collar dress, blouse, skirt, waistcoat and corsage, trousers, coat, shoulder bag, boots and socks, and a fox (dolls doll)

It has lots of beautiful pictures of dolls wearing the finished pieces, paper patterns in the back of the book and every project has three sizes of doll S,M L it gives full info about what materials are needed in each size as well as a photo and paragraph under it for EVERY step of construction, so if you have limited previous dressmaking experiences its perfect.
      Doll sizes as listed in the book are;
S size is for 8", Middle Blythe dolls
M size is for 11", Neo Blythe dolls
L size is for 16", Unoa 1.5 girls.
But I have another sewing book (by Little Amelie which lists Lati yellow as the same pattern size as Middle Blythe and thats what I was planing to use for my 1/8 size Myou girl.

The clothes are loose fitting to allow them to be layered with each other for many different looks. I've been wanting this book for AGES when I saw it in Japanese, but not being that good at construction (nor wanting extra import fees) when I saw there was an English language version coming out I've waited for it SO glad I did. SO many ideas in my head right now. LOVE this book. Don't have the funds for fabric atm, but will be cutting up some clothes to try them.

This is a real capsual wardrobe that can be mixed and matched together for so many different looks. LOVE IT.

    2. Thanks for sharing, I am a sucker for sewing and pattern books of all kinds and this sounds like one I might add to my library. Going to check it out now.

    3. Looks nice but I really, really wish someone would do boy’s clothes!

    4. The original Japanese version had English translations. :) This version was produced for an English speaking audience.

I've made most of her items, and they were very enjoyable to make! I posted some of the items here on DoA in both the Blythe & Unoa size. The Unoa size even fits bigger MSD dolls since the cut and fit of the clothing is pretty loose.

For those who are wondering, it's available on Amazon. Many people in Blythe groups are receiving their books and sewing from it. :chibi

    5. I've made some of the clothes from the earlier book, the pieces are versatile (there are some pieces that can be styled for a boy!) and I learned a lot about sewing for dolls.

    8. Thanks for sharing your photos. I like the items you've made.

    9. There is a shirt, waistcoat and trousers in the book that are unisex and would easily look great on boys or girls. :)

    11. Thank you for sharing!
The best thing my favorite online bookstore have this book. Yay!

    12. Thanks for sharing! It's hard to find nice pattern books in english

    13. Thank you for sharing. I have looked at this book before but hesitated as it was in Japanese. I hadn't realised that they had brought out an English version. I have now added it to my collection of doll sewing books and have copied a couple of patterns to try out for size and fitting.

    14. I have it and its a treasure book, i love it, now the have release a second book.I wish the same as Spuggey..i wish more about boy patterns.Im looking for a captain suit for my 1/4 boy

    15. Thank you very much for sharing!

    16. I picked up this book and it's so lovely, the L size works fairly well for MSDs since the designs are all quite loose fitting - I've made the skirt, but as I'm still trying to teach myself to sew at the same time it's not the best quality :| hopefully my next attempt will be sharing quality :3nodding:

    17. Thank you for sharing about this book! I now own a copy, love it and plan on using the patterns.
The book itself is a lovely feast for the eyes. Even for people who don't sew, the book is so beautifully laid out it is a pleasure to look through.

    18. I had a second attempt at the skirt pattern from this book, this time in some nice green linen. I made a few mods to fit my MSD after the first attempt (shortened the skirt, slight modifications to the waistband construction) and I'm so happy with it now!

    19. I hope this does not count as necroposting, but I received the book today and while I AM waiting for a MSD by MYOU, I was wondering if anyone has tried resizing them for YoSD-sized dolls...?

    20. I have tried resizing them for yosd, I made the armscyes a bit lower(adjusting the sleeves width as well and sometimes added 2 mm at the sideseams. For the pants i added extra seamallowance. My thicker yosds still dont fit the pants, but my slimmer ones did. Good luck!
