Thank you for such detailed instruction. I am still un sure about the sealant. Do I spray the sealant on the whole face everytime I need to seal an area, for example, the brows?
Even though I don't have my first doll (yet, but I will soon order her, or I hope so...) and even that I would NEVER consider to change her perfect faceup ('cause in the pictures she is just PERFECT), it is never bad to have some kind of guideline for this kind of things, thx for uploading it
I used your tutorial for my very 1st bjd faceup. Thank you for a great tutorial. Here he is. He is Zhuqing from Illusion Spirit, normal skin, factory eyes.
wow! i don't think my hands are steady enough to even attempt a faceup, but thank you for that tutorial
I always have trouble with lips cuz I've been trying to paint mine and can never get the color right and it always ends up looking like he's wearing lipstick. On the other hand I've always been afraid to just blush the lips because I was worried it wouldn't show up well in photographs. Your way seems to work really well, though. I'm going to leave the paint alone when doing his lips and just blush them next time. Hopefully it comes out well. I'm tired of my boy looking like he's wearing lipstick. So NOT the look I was going for.
thank you Naiara, so very generous of you to post this, your's is just beautiful. Very motivating to try it myself. thank you again. Cecilia
Loved the tutorial! I'm pretty happy wth my girls faces for the moment.. but I will definitly be referencing this when I do finally get my blanks...
Quick question what brush size did you use for the eyelashes? I have a liner 10/0 brush is this good enough to make thin lines?
This tutorial really helped a lot Thanks so much for posting it! Its not perfect, but heres my 3rd ever faceup:
Brilliant tutorial thankyou so much for sharing your talents, it's great seeing others face ups too, I can't wait till I can be having a practise!
really nicely explained and the photos are really nice too! I really like how you did the lips, since they look really soft and smooth and the eyelashes look great too, but i'm just loving the lips. and thanks for sharing with such great photos too, it's really nice to see the process ^_^
This tutorial makes me much less nervous about attempting my first face up. Thank you! Will post pics when done!
Well here is my first face-up on a resin BJD, I've had a couple of goes on Hujoo's but it's so different. I hope you like her, She's a DollZone Momo called Bud, She says please excuse the silly hat, but it's all we have that fits at present.
Thank you so much. My first faceup ever--and using this tutorial. Very pleased with it. Had so much fun I will scrub and do again--this one's pretty, but it isn't my Frances Thanks for "holding my hand" through my nervous first attempt!
I used this tutorial (and what I learned from Weekly Faceup Stories for the airbrushing) and got this: I still need work with the acrylics (eyes, eyebrows, and lip lines), but I think it's a good start for improving! Thanks a lot! ♥
My Minuial is still afraid!! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/33/57710240379973506584077.jpg/ I can't view his eyebrows!! XD
a fabulous tut! i think learning the basics and doing a simple face up helps tons for seeing how it works and building confidence. besides, there are a ton of dolls out there that have simply beautiful sculpts that only need the basics to give them the wow factor. AceHartHunter-i love, love, love those freckles!!!! wonderful job!
I absolutely love your end result! It's gorgeous! I look forward to the time that I can try it out on my own doll. 33
This is actually making me much more torn about ordering my first doll sans faceup... I feel as though I might be able to do a good job now...
This is absolutely helpful, and it kind of gives me more reassurance and confidence that I can do a faceup ^^; Can't wait to try this!
This is a great tutorial, and it gave me the inspiration to try my third attempt at a faceup. It's definitely not perfect, but I'm happy with it all the same!
Wow, thanks for such a detailed tutorial! I'm not sure I'll ever get up the nerve to paint my dolls myself, but it's good info to have, for sure
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I've been searching for useful tricks and tips for so long - until i found you! I believe that your advice will help a lot! Below I'll show my first more or less successful attempt of applying makeup on a doll. I'm not in love with the final result yet, but at the same time I'm full of energy and eager to practise a lot!
Thank you so much for the very detailed tutorial and tips! I'm very new to this and face-ups scare me >< I can't wait to give this one a try though.
I'm hoping to try this out when my latest doll purchase arrives; it'll be my fourth attempt at a face-up~
Thank you for this tutorial, it was very helpful for you cover everything from the very first prep coat! Nice to see the sequence you use for materials and features too.
How do you book mark this? I would like to be able to come back to this when I get all the stuff I need to do a face up.
At the top of the page there is a section the says "thread tools". It drops down an option to "subscribe to thread". If you don't want to subscribe you could just add it as a bookmark on your internet browser!
Thank you so much for all of this information, I've had the hardest time before this thread trying to teach myself the basics of faceups. I can't wait to try this out on one of my dolls, I love the natural look!
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. I still need lots of practice, but I think it came out ok for a first face up by someone who doesn't draw, paint, or wear make up, lol. Tried again with better results. I still have a lot more practicing to do, but this tutorial is great!
Thank you! This is my 4th Face up with my Scarlett but I think I'm improving. I really liked how it turned up.
Thank you for the fantastic tutorial!!!! This is so far the best one I've seen, thanks for taking pictures of every step and being so detailed in your description I'm waiting on my tester head to get here, but I'll post pictures as soon as I finish!!!!
Thank you for sharing with us such a wonderful tutorial. Right now I begin to understand what goes first... I surely will use the knowledge in my first faceup (coming soon...)
