40โ€“49cm Dolls Making some thick 40cm dog girls!(PUPDATE 7/15)

Apr 12, 2019

    1. Hey, guys decided to take a break from one BJD project to another!
This time I'm making some t-t-t-thick dog gals! During this project I hope to deliver :
      3 faceplates
      3 pairs of hands
      Magnetic ears
      Magnetic faceplates
      Magnetic Tail
      Magnetic hands
      Double Jointed elbows

I've learned a lot from my previous doll after trying to 3d print her and realized I needed to go a little smaller when it came to project scope as well as sculpt a little slower.

I'm always accepting critique in the thread and now that school is coming to a close I hope to update a lot more in the future.

    3. Been awhile since I posted another pupdate but here she is with all her proxy joints! Her arms will be double jointed but I'm keeping her legs single jointed. I'm also thinking about making her a 30cm doll instead of a 40cm doll. What do you guys think?

    4. Nice work!

Personally, I always prefer double-jointed knees because it allows for more sitting poses (such as sitting on the backs of the legs), however, in her case her paw feet might limit some leg posability anyway, so single jointed might be fine!

If you are open to a suggestion, I think you might want to make her arms a bit shorter. Typically, in normal human anatomy, the tips of the fingers reach to about mid-thigh when the arms are flat against the body. Of course she's not a typical human, but I personally think her anatomy would be more balanced if her arms, especially her lower arms and hands, were shorter.

Here in her profile shot her arm length look good and her fingertips fall at the "right" (subjective!) place - but since they are being held out instead of held flat at the sides, they would actually look longer if they were at rest.

If you haven't done it already, check her hand size against her face. Usually, for women, the measurement from the base of the palm to the tips of the fingers is about the same as the measurement from the base of the chin to about the middle of the forehead).

Also check the location of her elbow. Again, in typical human female anatomy the elbow (when bent) is a bit lower than the waist point of the body.

These are just suggestions - your vision is the most important thing! But since you asked for a critique I thought I would put in my two cents (bearing in mind that although I am an artist, I've never sculpted a doll before!).

I hope this helps, and that your project continues to go well!

    5. she's so cuuuuuuute
and i love her lower leg bits.. the way they are dog-y. :D
however!! i feel that a girl with thick thighs is going to have more of a badonkadonk. so maybe her booty could use a bit more flesh? this is just my opinion, though. XD and i like butts, i'm sorry.
also i was going to mention the arms' need to be a weetz bit shorter maybe as well.
but! if this is all your visualization of her and she is great for you, then that is great for me, too! good luck with your printing and such!

    6. Hello and thank you for the crit and compliments! I have another update implementing all the changes everyone has suggested! She is very close to being printed, but before that can happen I need to add all the magnet holes and research proper magnet strength needed for her detachable parts. After that I can start printing her and then sculpt her two alternate face plates and alternate hands! I'm so excited to see her come to life in the real world!

    7. You're making great progress!

I think it's really nice that you are adding other faceplates and alternate hands - I'm a huge fan of alternate hands.

Good luck on researching the magnets and with the printing!

    8. Hello, I have another pretty exciting pup-date!
All of the option parts are finished! I decided to turn this one pup into three different puppy girls!
Which face and hand part do you like the best? Can you guess which anime/manga each of their names come from?

I'm really excited to start printing out all their parts today!

    9. Very cute! I think my favorite is the "Saki" face.

The hands look good! I especially like the relaxed hands option (3).

    11. Super cute!!! I love the expressions and ears!

    12. This process is really amazing to see, mind blown! Definitely following you on Instagram, I LOVE anthro dolls, and I love her chunky legs.

    13. I love those hips and chunky legs!

    14. Hello! Here is another pupdate!
I finished sanding my girl almost 3 weeks ago and forgot to show the final priming and sanding! I sent her off to the casting company a little bit ago( I'm using weiju toys / island doll to cast my girls). And last night they told me they are finally ready to start casting my pups! Hopefully, I can get all my sample dolls by the end of the month!

    15. Saki is adorable! I wonder if Rena is named after Higurashi's Rena...

    16. Good luck!

    17. You got me , she is! Saki is named after the girl from genshiken and ponta is from the manga guru guru pon Chan .

    18. I admit I never would have got the other two, but I got Rena since I just finished up the recently-released Chapter 7 of the visual novel a few days ago!

    19. I'm in love! I'm not a dog person but she's adorable! I love the idea of the three different faces and different hands. Thank you for sharing!

    20. Oh they are so precious! I want one! :XD:
That's just too cute! You did amazing!
