Just For Fun Basic DoA 14th Anniversary Meme

Aug 1, 2018

    1. Memes almost feel old-fashioned now, but since DoA is celebrating it's 14th Anniversary, think of this as a throw-back to the early days when everyone would just automatically answer tons of questions and post them online!

Feel free to answer these as you please. Memes have always been a way to let others know a little or a lot about yourself. Just have fun with it. :kitty1

      1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

    2. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? I guess it is 10 years now! :o

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? I guess I'm up to 39 now! I still have some on my wishlist too :sweat

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? The customization! You can do literally anything!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The sheer amount of information that is available.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? All of the above! :dance

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? All of the above again!

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? I love all sizes, but I really love the super big ones and the super tiny ones. My biggest doll is my Dollshe Van on a Rythmos body is close to 72cm with his head on, and he's very dramatic to look at when he's standing and in a cool pose. And my smallest doll is my Tamikan Space Tardigrade who can fit in the palm of my hand, so he's adorable and snuggly.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? It was an Angel of Dream Chen, and yes I do! I don't really do much with him anymore, but I could never dream of selling him.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I love to buy appropriately scaled props. It's really hard to find the right ones for any given doll, but it's so rewarding when you do!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? What was your worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it?

    3. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Coming up on seven years this September!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Right now I have seven full dolls and three floating heads. I need a few more to complete the "set".

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

The customisability of them. No two dolls look identical, even if they are same sculpt.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
It is a great source of information about dolls, and it feels nice to be apart of a community even if I don't post too often.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

Original characters mostly! Even if I buy a sculpt just because I like it, I'll find a way to make them fit into the story.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

All my dolls (minus one) currently belong to the same fictional universe, and I hope to write a story about them some day. I also draw them, sew clothes for them and make my own wigs. Plus I'm trying to get into the faceup side of things, but it's tough.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

1/4! They are a good size for bringing around and playing with, but are also not too small to do stuff with. I do want a few 1/3 sized dolls as well, and own a few smaller dolls. But I prefer my medium sized kids.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

I believe the first one was a Resinsoul Ni. At least that was the first one I got home. Technically the first one I paid for might have been a DikaDoll/Doll Leaves hybrid.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

I love making wigs! But I hate it at the same time because the fibers can be so unruly.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

What is your dream doll that doesn't exist (yet)? I would love to see a gryphon centaur.

    4. 1. I've been a member since July last year.
      2. I own about 60 dolls
      3. bjd's opened my heart to a joyful new passion.
      4. DOA is the place I have to share this joy with others.
      5. I chose dolls for their sculpt.
6.I enjoy doing crafts in doll size, knitting, sewing, building dioramas...
7.I love all sizes of dolls.
8.My first doll was a fairyland real puki, I still have him and 3 more(along with desire for more) While I was waiting for him to be made I bought a few dolls in stock from DDE, one of those has gone off to a new home.
      9. My favorite thing to buy for a doll is another doll for a friend. I love to try to make everything in the customizing of a doll
      10. I don't have stories for my dolls, but I hope they will start gifting me with that. My question to others would just be to share about a favorite story bit that is happening for them now.

    5. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? 10 years this November.
      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? We have just over 20 on topic dolls in e house, my ideal was ‘no more than 3’...:doh Off topic, I still love playscale dolls like Barbie, MH and I have a Blythe, some Volks D+, Obitsu, etc.
      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? The way they can capture a moment, the way they invite us into a small quiet universe out of time. Doll time to me is a time away from the real world, someplace between my imagination and a dream.
      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The insight. The way people can have very different opinions, approaches, likes, dislikes and true critiques and yet manage to keep things respectful.
      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? OC for a story with 8 or so, one is my fiance’s And he has an OC bio for her apart from my story but she’s on loan as a performer in my story as well...then the rest are sculpts I like, some with a name/character, some without. One retained her character from the sculptor, who wrote a storybook about her. A goal/focus in my collection is slowly collecting most of the face sculpts of Gentaro Araki.
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? Without getting too long-winded, I see some dolls in the Jungian way, symbolic outward manifestations of archetypes in the collective unconscious. As my doll stories unfold, they teach me about myself.
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? 1/4 to play with, 1/3 to carry, 1/3 or larger to photograph. My Barbie-sized mature tiny is my fave for props/diorama because making a room-box or doll shelf this size is so much easier!
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Unoa Lusis. I still have her, she’s still my favorite!
      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? My favorite thing to buy are clothes, but it’s a love/hate thing because it’s hard for me to find just the right outfit for each doll and once I find it, I’m kind of loathe to change them out of it. I need to make more clothes!
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? If you could have one doll only, which would you choose and why?

@HeadHunterer asked,'Going back, what would you do differently before starting on this hobby?'
I would go a bit slower between dolls and be more productive on each in their turn. I'm a bit overwhelmed that I have so many needing so much work now. An embarrassment of riches and needing at least a couple of years of work to get them where I want them as a whole, I'm guessing. But hey, saving on shipping by buying multiples of things when I can too.

@Souly a Unoa Lusis centaur hybrid. Also a doll with a chest opening and a mechanical heart. Thirdly, a robotic doll that was wired to move easily...someone modded one to dance, and it was both weird and wonderful but it was a custom.

@AirimirOfGondor asked, 'What was your worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it?'. Acetone on a tan head. :doh Head is in a drawer...still with cloudy ears. New head plans for a hybrid materialized when Unoa cast Paradise. I'm really glad I learned before I did that to a Unoa head but I'd still like to rehab the other head.

@dailymare 18th century France, a very spoiled girl and her brother discover the diary of their father, a ship captain who vanished last year...and begin to unravel the mysterious puzzle of his life. Re-tracing one of his voyages in search of answers, they discover some shocking truths about their father involving a supernatural phenomenon.:apirate:

@AntarelNefertili asked, 'Aesthetic or poseability?'...and I'd say, 'One of each?' If I HAD to choose, I'd choose poseability because my dolls don't often wear joint-revealing clothes, and an un-natural pose makes me not like the photos as much. That said, I have 3 dolls with one-piece torsos, several with single joints and I do still really love them.

    6. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Since 2016, so not that long

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have one with me, a headless body, a floating head, and one on the way....
      I want them all though....:shudder

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
      The limitless options

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
All the information, and people with more experience

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I mostly buy sculpts I like

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
      Sewing, sculpting, drawing

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
1/4... although 1/3 is nice to look at

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Fairyland minifee Eliya, and I would never sell her

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
      Horns:love

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

    7. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? Two years

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? I currently have 26 full dolls, and 11 floating heads. I have three bodies incoming, and two more floating heads on their way as well. I don't want many more. I am running out of space to put them. I only have one head left to get for a character from my second novel. After I figure out who she is, it's just a matter of getting bodies for the dolls who don't have them yet, then I can finally start getting them decent outfits and stuff. So in answer to how many I wish to have, I think the number is 35. Not all of the floating heads will get a body.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? Customization, without a doubt. While I can still say it, I've done all of my own face-ups (I have one incoming with a face-up already done, and I just might keep it!). I've dyed dolls, I've made wigs, clothes, and I'm looking into making eyes. I have also used boiling water to reshape hands, and taken a dremel to one of them! I've started in on the elf ear mods I need to do as well. I love being able to start with a blank doll and making it mine.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? Community. DoA is where I found my first meet-ups where I've met some of the best people. I attend the local meet-up almost every month (I've missed a total of one since I started going over two years ago), and I've also attended meet-ups in other cities when I travel. I love seeing other people's dolls and being able to talk to people about mine. .

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? Original characters, mostly. Though Dollshe Saint grew on me the more I looked at him so I finally broke down and got one. I created his character for him during the wait and he's been inserted into the story for a future novel. All of my other characters have existed before the doll was ordered. I'm an author, and they all exist in my own original world. 34 out of the planned 35 will exist in this original world. The one who doesn't is my Bubblepet Molly who will be painted to resemble my IRL cat.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? Writing fiction and artwork. I'm an author and my dolls reside in my office. Sometimes it's easier to imagine them doing things when I have a physical representation of them. I also like drawing them in my spare time.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? I prefer the 60-75cm range. It's easier to make clothes for them, and there are more mature looking sculpts in that size.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? My first was my Granado Charles. I still have him, and I still love him.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I like making wigs, and I keep trying different methods. I've glued feathers to hard caps, fake fur glued to hard caps, yarn wefts glued to hard caps, wefts sewn to soft caps, and wefts sewn on hard caps. My next wig will be fake hair fibers sewn into a hard cap. Wish me luck with that.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? What kind of props do you have? My answer: swords, books, stuffed animals, an umbrella, four different backdrops, and flowers.

    8. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? I joined around the end of fall or early December last year!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? I have 4 currently (3 that are on-topic and one that's not). I wish to have many more! My current plans are for at least 4 more on-topic (resin) dolls and 5 more off-topic (ABS) dolls!

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? I love how customizable they are! And I love how represented males are in this hobby. As a kid, I was always frustrated because I wanted more boy dolls, but they weren't kept in stock in my local stores like girl dolls were. With this hobby, I can have a collection of only boys, and that makes me really happy.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? I think my favorite thing is how informative it is. The News section on the homepage is the number one way I find out about a sale or event going on with a company or dealer. And there's quite a bit of information on all the different companies, which I definitely need, since it took me so long to get into the hobby fully and I missed out on a lot!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? I'm shelling OC's! I hope to either write out or make webcomics out of the stories my dolls are in.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? Both! I love my dolls and they're definitely muses for me. I go through phases with all of them, focusing on one story's dolls or on one doll specifically and jump between projects. And it's helped me in business, I do art commissions drawing people's dolls/OC's to make money for the hobby.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? I only own 1/4 and 1/6 scale right now, but I love my 1/4 scale dolls so much. I planned on getting 1/3 dolls in the future, but now I don't know if I want to cause I love minis so much!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? The first I bought was my Resinsoul boy, Sera, and I definitely still have him! I'll never reshell him, either, his face sculpt is perfect for his character.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I got some DAS paperclay recently and have been loving making clay props for my little (off-topic, sorry) Hujoo Albu, Masaru. I made him a traditional Japanese teapot and two little cups, a rice bowl, a flute, and a Daruma doll. I also got some wood and made him a little pair of geta sandals! Props are definitely my favorite thing to make, even if I'm not that great at it yet.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? Hmmmm..... My question would be "Have you ever fallen head over heels for a doll, plan on getting it, but then you look at it again later and realize your love for it is totally gone?" (I ask, cause I've had this happen A LOT)

    9. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      Since 2007

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
10, but I still want to add a few more

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? I love that you can change their looks as often as you like. Everything from facial expression to eyes and hair etc.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The people, the photos, the information.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
      Original characters mostly

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
      Artwork, crocheting, photography

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
Probably Realpuki, there is something special about these teeny tiny dolls (maybe fairy or elf magic ). 2nd favorite would be MSD/Sdmidi size.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
A dollzone Megi and no I don't have him anymore.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
To make, tiny crochet stuff for my Realpukis.
To buy, pretty glass eyes for the bigger dolls.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

What is your grail doll and why?

For me it's probably still a Dollshe Ausley 65cm and a Volks SDMidi FCS. I'm not sure why I'm so smitten with Ausley, but I love her.
On the opposite end, I've always wanted to make an Volks FCS order. Picking the hands, head, feet, face up etc just seems really cool to me.

    10. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Only a couple months, now. I'm glad I joined, though! There's a lot to learn about this hobby, I'm glad there's a community that has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share~
      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have five currently, a sixth is being made, and...I'm not sure how many I want to have! There's so many pretty sculpts out there, ahaha...there should be a limit at some point though, I won't have much space soon.
      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The customization - the fact that I can have a tangible form of my characters gives me goosebumps. I already liked collecting figures of my favorite canon characters, and I have such a strong love for my original characters, so the fact that I could combine both gets me really excited.
      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Oi, I just answered that in #1 lol. Again, the community, it's amazing. It's not a hobby my friends understand but they're always stunned by how much learning there is in this hobby.
      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Shelling OCs. I also buy sculpts I like and then turn them into OCs!
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
They make me smile and they make me feel like I have company, which sounds weird but I'm an introvert and so I spend my time indoors while the rest of my family are extroverts and like going out. I don't mind, but I appreciate the presence dol
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
MSD, though to be fair I don't own a SD yet...it's mostly the price tag that appeals to me, ~$300 is easier (though still somewhat difficult) to swallow than ~$500-600, and the same price concept applies to accessories too.
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Yes! She's a minifee Chloe. There's a lot of them out there, I know, but she really is a pretty sculpt and I snagged her for a great deal! I love her so much <3
      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I can spend hours shopping for clothes!
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Hmm...do you ever see yourself leaving the hobby, or falling out of love with it?
For me I don't think I will, but it's too early to say. But given my love for my characters for the last six years, I don't think I'd give up their dolls anytime soon.

    11. 1. I'll have been on DOA 10 years this November

      2. I have 46 BJD's but 100's of other types of dolls

      3. My favorite thing about BJD's is their versatility in pose and in customization

      4. My favorite thing about DOA is all the information

      5. I just buy all the dolls I like (love) lol

      6. BJD's inspire me to sew, crochet, knit, make props and dioramas and take photos. No stories yet but I'd like to get into doing that too

      7. My favorite size BJD's are tinies. I love my Pocketfairies!

      8. My first BJD was by Robert Tonner, an Ultimate Betsy McCall BJD, and yes I still have her and still love her

      9. My favorite thing to buy for my BJD are shoes! My favorite thing to make for them are clothes

      10. My meme question is "do you buy other dolls so that your doll has friends?" I do! (I hate it when a doll is all alone)

    12. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
I had to check, but since March of 2017

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have five full dolls, a floating gift head, and a floating head on order.
I hadn't intended to by that many...

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
I love character creation and taking pictures of them!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
I like the structure of the community and being able to see everyone's beautiful dolls!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
      All of the above...
Two of my dolls are based on a historical figure, one is an OC, and two were bought for the sculpt and a character developed from there~

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
I use them for photography--I just love looking at them! ^^

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
MSD, despite the fact that SDs keep showing up in my life......

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first doll was Souji, a Tiny Fairy Emile, and I still have him! ^^
      (He's currently my avatar)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
While I love buying clothes for them, and have quite a lot, Souji insists that I buy snacks. So I have tons of beautiful, tiny food!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
      That is a difficult question...
Maybe about how your dolls got their names?
For mine, after a historical figure (Souji and Sojiro), after my OC (Minnie), to incorporate a certain kanji (Seori), and my last boy will either be based on kanji or a Japanese name I like. Once I meet him, I'll know for sure!

    13. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      ... about a year and a half I'd say.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I own many floating heads that share the same body >< (Like the three dolls in my profile)
Beside those I got a beautiful Catish Girl from Dollmore, and a cute Zuzu Delf from Luts.
Oh and I recently acquired a 58cm boy from Doll Family-H
Those still need some work done on them before they get officially added to my family on my profile page.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
HAIR ! Hair is my favorite thing, so there is a lot of "making custom wigs" involved in the time I spend working on my dolls. Then I'll keep playing with those wigs to style them or just brush them with my fingers.
Ventilating is my favorite technique for making wigs.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The community itself. The access to so many people with different talents and knowledge, and the ability to share our passion through posts, pictures and discussions.
When I thought I was alone in my region, I discovered through DoA that monthly BJD meetings were happening in my city :D

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I do all of the above.
BJDs allow my creativity to run wild and free.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
      All of the above
      for the same reason =^.^=

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
SD Uncles (70cm) for how easy it is to craft gear and clothes their sizes
and Smaller ones because I can transport them easily for photoshoot outside of my place.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
It's a Granado Pluto on an Evol body, and it is still as precious to me as it was when I first saw it.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
      Wigs, wigs and wigs :D
I never bought a wig, I always made them myself. I went through a lot of experimenting before settling for ventilating on a swiss lace head cap.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Do you consider your dolls to be alive/ have a soul ? Or do you see them as lifeless objects?

... I admit that I talk to mine, I apologize when I accidentally bump them and treat them with respect whenever I manipulate them. ><

    14. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? It will be 9 years next month!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? Depends on what counts. For topicness here, I have 17 full dolls and two heads. But I also have some dolls from BJD companies that are off topic here, plus a few 1/6 dolls and figures.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? The creativity and customization! I love that I can create almost any character I can imagine with a BJD. Other dolls feel too limiting with sizes, body types and customizing ability.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? I really enjoy general discussion a lot! Doll Profiles are a lot of fun to look at too. I've found so many gorgeous dolls there that I never knew existed. <3

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? Shelling my roleplay characters. But sometimes, I fall for a sculpt and have to create a new character for it.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? They're shells for my roleplay characters. Sometimes the character inspires the doll, sometimes a doll inspires the character. I also like to sew for them and build room dioramas for them.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? SD all the way!! I've owned everything from 12cm to 73cm, but I find I really enjoy 52-62cm best.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? Amir is Angel of Dream Chen, version 1, white skin, from JunkySpot. I still have him, and he just turned 11 years old. :)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I like buying clothes best, but I like making bedding and other props for their rooms.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Q: What are your dolls' full names? (I really like naming dolls!)
A: Marley Berry Alvis, Alyssabeth Hope Bashir, Hailey Elizabeth Bashir, Rosemary Opaline Bledsoe, Stephan Henry Davenport III, Charles Brett Edison, Meghan Natascha Grant, Bailey Jack Knight, Amir Angel Lindström, Parker Sven Lindström, Georgia Rose Lindström, LucyFaire, Lucas Dylan MacLaren, Kieran James Murray, Derby Kate O'Sullivan, Dhani David Staylor, Elsa Zoë Sundberg, Fritz Tathum Wagner, Lakin Ashton White

And now, to answer everyone else's #10 for fun!

I got a little too excited about my first major sanding/eye opening experiment and completely destroyed a Dollzone Ying head. I didn't fix it. I sold him as a junk head to hide my shame.

      Chubby 1/3 boy!

Elsa, Tate, Meghan, Marley and Stephan have just returned home after summer at a music camp for teens. Elsa, Tate and Meghan got into relationships over summer, Marley has learned to be more confident in herself, and Stephan has discovered his love for things his snobby parents never introduced him too--one being bluegrass music!

Nooooo don't make me choose!! Lakin (Luts Summer 10/Loongsoul), Luc (Luts SDF Howl) or Marley (Impldoll Aigne)....but don't make me choose!!

Research more, and buy safe faceup materials, even if they cost more. It's really worth it in the long run to not risk ruining your doll, and not waste time and materials on layer and layers of low quality pastels when one layer of good pastels does a better job. Also, buy a mask before starting faceups.

Too many to list them all, I've probably spent more money on props and furniture than on the dolls themselves. beds, couch, tables, a bar, books, trinkets, mini posters and paintings, tiny dolls and toys, and plenty more. The most impressive is Luc's compound bow that actually works like a real one.

More times than I can count, and sometimes it happens after the doll gets home. Oops.

It was Volks F-16, and I had him for four years, but ended up selling him because he didn't fit in with my crew. It was Soom Ender at one time, same situation. So now...I'm really not sure if I have a grail! There aren't too many I'm just dying to own, and most I'd consider now are fairly easy to obtain.

Probably not. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the dolls I have or want, sometimes I get upset over drama or negativity in the hobby, sometimes I get frustrated with doll characters or their role play, but I don't think I'll ever entirely quit. Maybe take breaks, maybe cut back on the crew, maybe sell off a bunch and start over, but I think I'll always have at least a few BJDs.

Yup! All of my dolls have connections within the group, either friends, romantic partners or family. I've learned the hard way that individual dolls with no connections don't last here. Either they have to have their stories intersect eventually, or they get sold off. Currently, I really don't want more dolls, but Marley really wants her friend from summer camp, so...I guess it could happen again...haha

    15. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? Wow, it's been 10 years already? Time flies!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? Um... can I plead the fifth? (Actually, I just don't know the number off the top of my head, but according to my profile it's 46 full dolls, 5 floating heads, and 1 floating body... though I did just receive another (OT) doll, and I have a body on order for one of those heads...)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? The options! I came to the hobby because I wanted to make poseable figures of my OCs, but neither action figures nor the little off-topic Volks and Obitsu dolls had the right base look. But with so many choices for heads, bodies, resin colors, wigs, eyes, and not to mention modding, I've been able to realize that with way more of my characters than I ever dreamed I'd manage.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The pool of general BJD knowledge here. I can find patterns, learn about new releases, see photos of what other people are doing, get information to help me with my own projects, give feedback on other people's projects, get new ideas... there's just so much amazing stuff on this forum.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? I started with OCs... then moved into sculpts I like, then non-OCs, and a few "something else"s have ended up in the batch lately, so all of the above.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? Mostly they're just important for themselves. I was writing about and drawing these characters beforehand, I've been sewing for ages, and I'm not in any degree of doll business. I just have them because I like having them!

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? Overall, I love my minis for being the perfect balance of size and sculpt. The ones I have can pass as older teens to young adults easily enough, without taking up nearly as much space as my big boys. Though I do love my tinies for their cuteness and portability!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? My first was Gabriel, a Bobobie Sprite head on their male body. And yes, I do still have him! Though his original body is the floating body from my count; it was never the right look for his character, so I replaced it several years ago, and keep meaning to buy a new head for the old body.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I love making them "signature" clothes. The kind of thing that first comes to mind when I think about their characters.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? What's the "one that got away" that still bugs you? For me, while most of the missed dolls could still be found somewhere, I rarely see and would probably never find a Brooklyn MNM sculpt, and while I still don't know what I would do with it, I'm sad I had to step out of that GO.

      And just for fun:
What was your worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it? Fortunately, so far that's just been a bad spray-paint job (the color chart and cap were both tan, but the color on the resin was fire-engine red!), so it cleaned off easily enough with some W&N. I've since dyed that doll (which I was trying to avoid with the paint) and love her current color.
What is your dream doll that doesn't exist (yet)? A FairyLand F60 Shiwoo boy (preferably to go with a re-issue of F60 El), and Pukifee El (to go with PKF Shiwoo). Also a RealFee cat boy.
My question to others would just be to share about a favorite story bit that is happening for them now. My stories are all fairly long and involved, a bit too much for this meme, but there's hints of them here and there in my doll profiles. :)
If you could have one doll only, which would you choose and why? I can't choose, that's why I'm rapidly approaching 50!
Going back, what would you do differently before starting on this hobby? Honestly? Probably nothing. I've sold very few dolls, and I've missed a few that I've had to go back and buy secondhand, but ultimately I feel like all of those steps were good experiences, because I learned something from each of them.
What kind of props do you have? I have some food items, a couple of tiny-sized pool floaties, and a ton of toys for the one doll whose character is a small child.
Have you ever fallen head over heels for a doll, plan on getting it, but then you look at it again later and realize your love for it is totally gone? Yep, except I actually bought her. I don't regret it, honestly, even though I was turned off from her size range for a long time afterward.
What is your grail doll and why? The currently unattainable F60 Shiwoo and El mentioned above; I want unmodded heads on the newer style bodies to "match" my Delf pair.
do you ever see yourself leaving the hobby, or falling out of love with it? At this point, it's pretty unlikely. I've taken breaks in the past, but the nice thing about dolls is that they'll chill and wait for you to have time for them again.
do you buy other dolls so that your doll has friends? ...That's probably why there's almost 50 of them here...

    16. Ohhhhh gosh I love this.

      1. How long have you been a member of DoA? Less than a year

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? Two dolls, awaiting one, two on preorder. I only wanted 5 initially, but I feel like I might land somewhere around 8.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? They're works of art. Did you ever do a coloring contest as a kid? It was the same photo, but everyone had their own unique art style so they all looked different. That's what I feel about BJD customization!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The resources

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? Buying sculpts I like. I do have a couple dolls in mind who are shells of favorite characters.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? They're very inspiring; I'm trying out different types of customization so I'm not sure yet.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? 1/4 - and yet, by the end of the year I'll have more tinies. I guess I like 1/6 as well then!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Harucasting Maji, and I'll never sell her.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? See number 6!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? What is you favorite doll style? Mine would be modern.

    17. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      9 years
      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Uhhh lemme just count my fingers and toes here...14. I plan to sell one (maybe two) and buy two (one like now and one maybe next year). I try to stay under 20, I think I was over that for a while but it made me feel overwhelmed.
      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The artists. So many kinds of artists, all expressing different and unique ideas forming into a wonderful thing.
      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Connecting with other collectors, seeing the creativity, it’s so inspiring. I don’t know if I’d own so many dolls or would have tried so many things without DOA
      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
      UHHHHH
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
      They are just dolls
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
1/4. I know 1/3 has way more presence, and tinies have better props, but I’ve always been drawn to 1/4 and now that more companies make these mature sculpts its like a dream come true.
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Blue Fairy Tiny Fairy Jasmine- still my avatar and still rocking it
      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I recently made a few wigs and it was a ton of fun! I look forward to making more
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
      Yeah I’m boring I don’t know...

    18. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

Since January 2006... I joined while I was waiting for Harumatsu and Tien Jen, my first dolls.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

My answer is... and has always been... "Too Many!"
I sort-of have my own small tribe of resin minions these days.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

They're more cooperative photography models than my nieces and nephews.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

The sheer amount of information available here, from owner photos of sculpts to opinions on what-fits-who.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

Some of each. I have "resin avatars" of favorite tabletop RPG and MMO characters, fiction characters, doll-exclusive characters, and non-characters.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

Not really. My gang are mostly just toys... I sort-of think of them as the ultimate action figures.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

I like the 60-65cm 1/3-scale dolls best, though my collection includes everything from a 6cm micro to a 75cm giant.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

Harumatsu and Tien Jen, my Shiwoo twins, are still here.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

I love clothes-hunting. I collect doll outfits almost as much as I collect the dolls themselves.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

I can't think of anything, off-hand. I was always better at answering these things than building them. XD

    19. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Around 8 years! Been lurking, reading it for much longer though

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have five dolls (heads on bodies), and 9 floating heads (I know it's far too many and I plan on getting rid of at least 4!)
I actually don't want to own many more dolls but I have a feeling I will eventually own 10-12 because my wishlist includes another two more Lusions, two Trinity dolls, a Conarium, a Spirtdoll Dolce, and one more SD body for one of my many floating heads!

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The endless possibilities of customization. I love looking at modifications and faceups people do on doll heads.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The Lusion and Trinity discussion threads! It makes me so happy that other people own huge dolls and I love seeing owner pictures. All the people in those threads are wonderful. Lusion and Trinity dolls are very hard to find on Asian blogs so I'm really thankful DoA has such a good community for them here.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I'm just buying sculpts I like but feel like I'm slowly inching towards creating character dolls, since that was something I wanted to do since I was little. There are many book and movie characters that haven't been made into commercial dolls that would be fun to have.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Besides being artistic muses, think BJDs are hugely inspirational as to how personal artwork can turn a passion into a hobby into a business. Historically, art has survived due to its patrons, and similarly it is important that we as consumers show that there is still a strong market for BJDs to support small artist/sculptor businesses. This hobby has so many creative sides (photography, sewing, painting) to engage people and develop creative skills, so it is wonderful we have an international community around it and companies around the world creating new dolls. It is important that we put resources into supporting and growing the current companies and encouraging the new individual artists who are jut starting out so more people can find out and enjoy BJDs!

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
Dollmore Lusion! It's truly the perfect size to me, though I will more than happily own a Trinity one day and might change my mind!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
I still have my Alice in Labyrinth Daryl, yes :3nodding: She really should have a different name though (as in, one more appropriate for a little girl and not Normal Reedus' character from The Walking Dead like the company named her)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Buying clothes for my dolls makes me so incredibly happy. I'm still not sure why but it is!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
What is the silliest thing you've ever done with your doll parts? One time I saw an earwig hurrying across the floor while I was sitting a few feet away sorting through my floating heads bin. I didn't have anything to trap the insect near me so I took off the headcap of the doll head I was holding at the time and used the upside-down head! I then got up to get a tissue from another room and came back to get rid of the earwig. It worked, little guy was in a resin prison until I came back (I could see him through the head’s eye holes). At least I used my $25 Akagi Ban sale head intead of one of my precious SWITCH heads!

    20. 1. I've been a member for a little over a year now.

      2. I have fourteen full dolls with one on the way and two floating heads. I plan on owning about 30 dolls.

      3. I love designing their characters and creating things for them.

      4. I love the project journals best. I enjoy watching what people create.

      5. Some sculpts I fall in love with and create a character for. Others I have a character in mind and shop for a sculpt that works.

      6. I look at them as works of art that inspire me to create more.

      7. I like both MSD and SD. It really just depends on the circumstance.

      8. Yes! I bought a MYou Junyao. I still have my Kit. She's one of my main characters.

      9. I love making clothes and props although recently I like making room boxes for them.

      10. Do you like to buy pets for your dolls? If so, what kind?

    21. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      ~I've been a member for 12 & 1/2 years!
      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
~I currently have about 14 (I think since I counted last) full dolls and 6 floating heads. Eventually I want everyone on their own body, and of course I have plans for many more. Basically, my dream is to have a room dedicated entirely to the hobby and have the walls lined with little room cubes. So... Yeah.
      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
~Designing and customizing the characters! I have notebooks with ideas for so many!
      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
~The workshop and the photo reference if you mean the site itself, or the ability to share and be shared with, if you mean the community. :) Everyone has beautiful dolls and I appreciate the eye candy.
      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
~All of my dolls are original characters or for the tinies, they're just cuteness addiction ( not so much characters as little companions)
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
~They are my inspiration to everything! If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't do half the sewing/crafting/writing/photography I do.
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
~I have sd, msd, yosd, 16cm & 10cm tinies. If you asked me a four months to a year ago, I would have said msd was my fav, because that's what I had the most of and I thought my sd's were bulky and hard to manage. But, now, I have fallen in love with them again too. So, they're all my favorite size. :3
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
~The first bjd I bought myself was a mnf ryeon. I love the sculpt and the character I had for her, but at the time, I didn't have the funds for a professional faceup or for proper clothes and I sucked at all of that. And her first wig just wasn't right, nor her shoes as back then it was hard to find anything that fit mnf. I ended up selling her head, but Marg got the body. If I could, I'd get another ryeon, but as a different character.
      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
~I like buying shoes and props for my dolls and making everything else! I even started making eyes because of them!
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
~You're given a box. Inside the box there are some things. A stand, a sewing needle, a lens, a pen and a lump of clay. Which pieces (choose up to two) would you take from the box? How does that piece(s) represent you in this hobby?

~~I would pick the needle and the pen. For me they represent my creative outlets and abilities, as well as my passion for the bjd hobby. They give me comfort and allow me to share that with others.

    22. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
i've been a member since december 1st last year! i guess today would be about my 8 month anniversary

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
currently i own two full dolls, a body waiting for a head, and a head that may or may get used
right now i'm only planning for 3 dolls, maybe 4 if i can find the perfect sculpt! before i think about getting any others i'd like to finish off the one's i've planned for.
if i had to choose one other doll that i want but haven't planned for... it would have to be dollzone's new event doll lumu..... what a precious little jellyfish girl......

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
i really love how customiseable they are! different wigs, eyes, clothes, faceups, mods.... the list goes on
i love how the same sculpts can look so different under different owners!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
my favourite thing would probably have to be the community here itself! i find DOA to have a very welcoming and kind atmosphere, and though i'm a chronic lurker and don't post much i love to interact with everyone here when i do!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
i'm shelling OC's! only shelling OC's (or canon characters important to an OC's story) helps to cut down on these hefty doll costs!

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
pretty much all of the above! (except business) ever since i put together my first doll, Charlotte, i've been a lot more active in "developing" her, i guess having a real-life 3d version of her just makes me more excited to work on her?

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
MSD, for sure. They're like the goldilocks size, not too big, not too small.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
my first bjd wasn't a full standard doll - i always intended for my first to be a hybrid so this is a kind of hard question to answer.
i guess the closest thing would be the first head i bought - a kids-sky white crystal. i still have it, but as i've continued in the doll hobby i've realised that she just isn't the aesthetic i'm looking for so i'm not sure if she's going to stay. there is a character i have that wears a mask though, so she might end up as her, since her face wont matter at all there.
there's also the first full doll i actually owned - a now weird modded hybrid of a supiadoll hayul head, a myoudoll torso, and dollmore kid arms and legs! i know that sounds like a mess, but trust me - it works! somehow. anyway, she if definitely a doll i'll always keep i'm going to put way too much work into her to ever get rid of her, and i don't think i'd be able to sell her even if i wanted to lol!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
i'm obsessed with eyes. every order i make? new eyes. i don't even need more eyes. someone please stop me.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
out of the dolls you own, who is your favourite and why?
to answer my own question, though it might be a little obvious considering i've gushed just a little about her on this post... it's Charlotte! she's my favourite for sentimental reasons, she is my first doll of course, but also because i love her character, and by extension the game (Oblivion) i based her character off!

What was your worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it?
when i sawed Charlotte's ankles off (it's a good thing we're talking about dolls here) and millputted them back together, i didn't notice that one of her ankles had moved before it fully cured and was all wonky. i fixed it the only way i know how - more milluput and lots of sanding.

What is your dream doll that doesn't exist (yet)?

does a minimee of Martin Septim count? lol

My question to others would just be to share about a favorite story bit that is happening for them now.

i've had to rework one character's story since getting my RS Mei seeing as she is certainly a lot different now to how i was going to make her, but it's working out! it's helping me cut out all the stuff i didn't need too!

If you could have one doll only, which would you choose and why?

      Charlotte, need i say more?

Going back, what would you do differently before starting on this hobby?

      start getting into bjds earlier

What kind of props do you have? My answer: swords, books, stuffed animals, an umbrella, four different backdrops, and flowers.

none, at the moment. i'll definitely have a sword, bows, arrows, potion bottles, and a dagger in the future though

Have you ever fallen head over heels for a doll, plan on getting it, but then you look at it again later and realize your love for it is totally gone?

this happened to me with Loongsoul's Ghost Jing! i finally found an owner photo and realised that sculpt wasn't what i was looking for in the end.

What is your grail doll and why?

      i don't have one.... yet

Hmm...do you ever see yourself leaving the hobby, or falling out of love with it?

maybe one day, but not anytime soon. if anything, i'm not really the person to 'leave' hobbies, i just take breaks and move onto other stuff for a while.

Do you buy other dolls so that your doll has friends?

not particularly, charlotte's all on her own, and the other two i've planned, even though they're apart of the same story i'm only getting them both since they're the protagonists!

Maybe about how your dolls got their names?

Charlotte.... just kinda stuck. i was naming her Oblivion and couldn't think of any wood elf-y names off the top of my head so i just threw in Charlotte as a placeholder seeing as she is "small and purple" so it works! eventually it was just weird for her not to be Charlotte, so i just kept it! i had to make her dad be a Breton so the name wouldn't be weird for her to have though
as for Lilith (my Mei) i just liked the name!

Do you consider your dolls to be alive/ have a soul ? Or do you see them as lifeless objects?

they're just lifeless objects to me - i do talk to them a little, stuff like "stop being difficult" "could you stop falling over please?" but i tend to do that with most things

What are your dolls' full names?

Charlotte only really has the name Charlotte, but boy does she have a lot of titles - Hero of Kvatch, Champion of Cyrodiil, The Grey Fox, Listener, and last but not least Madgod of the Shivering Isles
      Lilith is just... Lilith

What's the "one that got away" that still bugs you?

haven't gotten that yet! i've been pretty lucky! i was certainly worried that my Mei would've been sold before i could gather the free funds for her though.

What is you favorite doll style?

this is a hard one to answer for me! it's not consistent at all....

What is the silliest thing you've ever done with your doll parts?

Charlotte's body is pretty darn silly

Do you like to buy pets for your dolls? If so, what kind?

not really! it's a cute idea though! maybe one day Charlotte will get a horse....

....and that's enough for one post

    23. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? I joined almost a year ago (Aug 7, 2017)

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? I have two Iplehouse FID ladies - Miho (Peach Gold skin) and Yur (Grey Skin)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? I just love the way they can look so real. I own a lot of other types of dolls - and none of them compare to Bjds.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? If it weren't for DoA I wouldn't have had the knowledge to confidently buy my first doll. I learnt a lot of things about bjds prior to purchasing Miho, and didn't feel like I was going into the hobby blindly anymore.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? My main focus is to just look for sculpts that I find aesthetically pleasing. I have kinda made characters based around the dolls once they arrived but there is no big story or anything....Just pretty dolls.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? For me, definitely sewing and other customizing. Artwork also, as I tend to draw and paint realistic female figures so my girls act as good models for that. But as a doll collector, I tend to just appreciate dolls for what/who they are.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? Originally I was only looking at 1/3 size girls but I had the opportunity to hold someones nYID at a meetup and realised that it just wasn't for me. So now I definitely prefer 1/4 (fashion dolls...or mature minis - whatever they're called!)

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? Iplehouse FID Miho was my first doll. I got her during the February FID Release this year. Then my mum convinced me to buy a second doll as I had the funds, so FID Yur was ordered like...idk...a week later?! And yes, I have both my girls and will not ever sell them. They are far too special.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? Favourite thing to BUY for bjds is absolutely hands down SHOES!! I love tiny shoes. Favourite thing to make is casual witchy clothing.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? Umm...my question would be:
After you purchased your first doll, did you handle them as carefully as you thought you would? My answer: No. I realised they weren't as fragile as I thought they would be. I was going to have them wear white body suits under their clothes but now I just keep a Magic Eraser handy for any marks!

    24. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Five years. I've been in the hobby for nine.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Over fifty, not counting the floating heads. It fluctuates.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Articulation. I'd pick aesthetic, but there are many aesthetically-pleasing figures out there that can't pose.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
It's a low-drama, friendly community. Full of pictures, lore, and games.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
All of those things. I used to only shell original characters until I realized I was missing out on sculpts I liked because I felt obligated to 'complete' storylines. Luckily, most of my favorite sculpts look like characters in my stories. So it's not hard to do both.

I've also acquired a few 'character' dolls. Mostly impulse purchases I got at good prices. They're all chibis.

Speaking of impulses, I used to be bad about those. Now they're almost vital; most of the dolls I'm looking for are old and limited. Finding them is like striking gold, and therefore, an impulse.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Inspiration for artwork, fodder for photography, canvas for faceups and mods... and fun to handle. I'd say they're fiction inspiration, but I never finish writing anything.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
SDs are the size I own the most of. But my favorite size of dolls...are the weird in-betweeners that are a pain to clothe.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
The first resin I ever bought was an Angel of Dream Lele head. The first full doll, a Resinsoul Long. Lele was given to a friend in college. Long was sold on the MP.

This is why we tell you "Buy the doll you want, not the doll that's cheap." I finally saved up and bought my third doll, which I'd been wanting, a year after. He's still here.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
The favored thing to buy is clothing. Though I get excited over a good wig.

I don't craft much for BJDs, unless temp sets and faceups/mods count. We'll go with wigs.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
If your doll(s) could be described in a style of music or an aesthetic, what would it be?

(If I answered my own question, we'd run out of page with 50+ dolls to cover)

    25. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
12 years, of which I have been active for maybe 1.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have 5. I would like one more, but that one may turn into more...

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
They are so pretty and realistic.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
It’s friendly and well-organized. I grew up on forums, and I think the format fits DOA well. (I do wish topics were threaded, though.)

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Buying sculpts I like, and giving them very loose and changeable characters. (or rather, my daughter is. I like to think of the dolls as actors.)

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Not so much of an inspiration.. A way to pass time and alleviate stress?

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
....that’s a hard one. I have two each of MSD and SD size, and they are both my favorite, lol.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
SoulDoll Asiter and Soul Kid Harang, together in a buy-one-get-one-free sale 12 years ago, and I still have both. Asiter still has the first faceup I gave him.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Dresses. That’s why I need a big girl. boy clothes just aren’t as much fun.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
I am no good at asking questions. Maybe how old your characters are. (My daughter and I disagree strongly about whether the 62cm Asiter is in elementary school.)

    26. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Almost 14 years (in 2 months).

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
80... I don't wish to have more, but am waiting on 1 to 3 more this year.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
They are beautiful & magical & just amazing (sculpts). And I can change clothes and wigs--basically customize them to get them exactly as I wish.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Information/Community/Marketplace. (Sorry, I'm bad about picking ONE favorite!)

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I'm mostly buying sculpts I like... but some turn into original characters.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Just for themselves! (I wish I was more inspired to create all those other things, though!)

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
      Large, then Tiny.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
CP Delf Elf El (2004). Yes!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
EVERYTHING. (I'm obsessed! and probably compulsive, too)

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Hmmm... I had a bunch of ideas, but I forgot them all! (maybe will edit later!) :doh

      ----------
There are some great extra questions there. As more people do this meme, I can see it all getting insanely out of hand! :evilplot:

I'll do a few: YES, I buy doll friends for my dolls. YES, I buy doll pets for my dolls. Of course I do! *_*

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

But I try to make an OC for each and every one. :thumbup
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

My BJDs are characters in a book I want to write. :dance
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

I own only SDs, but if I could I'd own mostly MSDs. :kitty2
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

Oh lord, about 8.5 years now
      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
about 12? One's OT and I have an additional floating head & a headless body not included in that count
      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Dressing them up/making costumes for them and going to meetups, particularly themed ones
      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
being able to interact with other doll owners even if the local group isn't active
      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
A little bit shelling OCs a little bit buying sculpts I like and then making them characters XD
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
I like sewing for them, and most of my dolls have some sort of story/character attached, but I don't have coherent story lines written out or anything
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
all of them omg. The tiny ones are so cute, the big ones are so hefty and poseable, 1/4 scale is a pretty nice balance of all the nice things: portable, poseable, detailed sculpting, ease of sewing for, amount of detail you can put in a costume, etc
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
A Luts Frey and hells yes
      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
      clothes/costumes
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

    29. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
A little over two years (began May 2016).

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Three full dolls, one floating head, and another full doll on the way. As for my wishlist, the one on my profile numbers about 7, but I'm pretty sure that ain't comprehensive.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
      Customizability!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The wealth of knowledge and how-tos that can be found in its pages; also, my primary doll's head was obtained via the Marketplace.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I generally try to think up of a character (even if it's just a rough draft) for a "candidate" doll that caught my eye. This is more to curb impulse purchases than anything.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
My bjds are an integral part of my personal artworks (and thus, occasional business racket). While my dolls have their stories, I have yet to properly write them down. Nonetheless, I still enjoy them as dolls.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
At first, I would say SD... but lately I have also welcomed an MSD, and a tiny is due to be shipped in a week. Sometimes, I just fall for the doll even if it's the "wrong" size!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
An Impldoll Azalea on a Starwoman body. While the body is being used by my Fantasia Doll Vivian, the Azalea head needs rehoming.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Clothes and accessories are what I enjoy making for them, hands' down. While I've successfully made a "lace" wig and certainly enjoyed the experience, I'm just more comfortable with making clothes.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Aesthetic or poseability? Answer: Is both an option? XD My only boy is as close to this as can be, and if I could get a really poseable big female body with my girl's current aesthetic, I'd consider her complete.

    30. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Two years as of June! How time flies. (:

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I currently own 9 full dolls, 1 headless body, and 3 floating heads.
I have 2 more full dolls on layaway.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The ability to turn them into whoever or whatever you want!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
      The wealth of information!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Mix of shelling OCs & just buying sculpts I like and building characters later.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
I just like looking at them!
I'm learning art/faceups and crafting because I want to help fund my love of them, but that's not the primary reason for getting into bjds. ;)

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
      MSD, no contest.
I could go smaller, but I could never get an SD.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
The first bjd I got was a Withdoll Emma with the optional pumpkin head.
I sold Emma, but kept the pumpkin --- he's the only reason I really bought her to begin with. ;)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I have an eye problem. The hoard is growing.
And I'm trying to learn to make eyes to fuel my addiction.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

The creative expression and beauty of the art.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The people!! OMG I love "meeting" new people and hearing their stories. The creativity in this forum just astounds me!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
All of the above! Some dolls I buy because they are beautiful, some because they remind me of characters, and some evoke a story in themselves.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
      For sewing for sure!!

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
Mini to Large, and Tiny... oh wait that's all of them!!

An Obitsu 60cm... and Nope, I sold it!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Eyes - I love how eyeballs change a doll entirely!! Oh and shoes, loooove tiny shoes!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? I have 10 SD dolls and 1 MSD doll, I am also waiting on another from Alice's Collections. :)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? Their personality and presence I create for them. I never know what they will become until I begin their face up and dress them. They feel like mini people!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The unlimited resources I can find on DoA is amazing! If I've ever had a question, I soon find I'm not the only one who has asked it!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? I buy sculpts that I like and create a new character for each BJD I collect.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? BJDs are a motivator to get me to work on art more often. They inspire me to paint and create things to complete them. They also make me happy when I hold them or just look at them.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? The bigger the better! SD or larger are my favorites! I especially love female sculpts.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? The first BJD I bought was a Mirodoll Wind. I still have her, although her faceup has changed since I first got her.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I love buying boots for BJDs! They always look so cool in them, especially when they fit perfectly! :)

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
"If you could describe your favorite doll, what would you say about them?" My favorite doll, Amaya, reminds me of the way I acted in high school - care-free, spontaneous, without fear of judgement, spunky.

    33. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Ten years, although I took a break in the middle where I only signed in about once a year for several years.
      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Umm, 25 with number 26 on order. I really shouldn't count the pukis though - they are too small to really count - so that means I only have 22 which sounds like a much better number for some reason.
      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The artistry... the way the same doll can look so different. The effect that a change of eyes or clothes has on how the doll appears.
      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The compendium of information amassed over time and individual expertise that people have and share.
      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I buy because I love the sculpt, and then they become original characters.
      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
They are storytelling muses, and their beauty just makes me happy.
      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
I have everything from Puki to 65s - right now I'm kinda loving the big kids, but I have another MNF on order... so the answer is "yes".
      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Kestrel my Delf Juri05. I do still have her.
      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I've made a few really beautiful cloaks for my dolls.
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
What was the first doll you sold and why? - I sold the Delf Juri06 I'd ordered a day after Kestrel. I hadn't been patient enough when I picked the sculpt. I wanted an elf-eared Delf to be the twin for Kestrel, and assumed that the Juri06 would pair perfectly with the Juri05. But the eyes felt very close together and it was quite different style from the Juri05... He just wasn't going to work for what I wanted. I sold him and he became a gorgeous she, and I got my Delf LuWen instead and it worked out.

    34. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

Oh wow - looks like it's six years at the end of August! How time flies! :whee:

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

I currently have 11, counting floating and en-route heads! I have another 15 on my wishlist, so... at least 26, I would say!

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

      Customization! Almost anything is possible.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

I love the forums (and the people) but what really makes the site for me are the way both user and doll profiles are set up. I love the doll profile features!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

Little bit of everything! Some of my dolls were purchased because they were pretty and I gave them a character (usually well before the doll was even ordered.) Some were shells for pre-existing characters. Some are "shells" for interpretations of historical figures. It's really a mix!

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

Writing fiction and sewing mostly, but they're also very important (and generally therapeutic!) items all on their own!

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

YoSDs! That said, I own dolls in a whole bunch of different sizes and they all have their pros and cons, so I could never settle for just one size.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

My Luts Lemon was my first doll, and though she's been threatened with sale and gone through numerous characters, I still have her - and I'm very glad I do. That said, she was a gift, so my first doll I bought was my Spirit Doll Lemongrass - still here, same character, same everything! (I need to get him a new faceup and wig, woops!)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

There is something super satisfying about buying a doll an outfit that makes everything come together. That said, I'm a cheapskate who tries to sew everything despite not being terribly good at it...

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Hm.... maybe - if you were to have someone offer to buy/customize you a doll with the only caveat being that it had to be for a fandom, which character and fandom would you pick? (My would be Manfred from War of the Worlds: Goliath. Love the man, but I don't know if I'd ever buy a doll for him on my own. I would 100% buy an action figure of that character, though.)

    35. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Had to check my own profile to see. Apparently I've been lurking for 13 years.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have 8 dolls and a practice head and hoping to acquire one more, but in the future. :)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Their customisability! Being able to essentially create your own character out of a blank mould is absolutely fascinating to me. ^^ And photographing these beautiful dolls is wonderful too.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The resources! And being able to read and see photos of other people's ideas for their dolls, and of course the marketplace (although I usually just browse for fun).

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Hmm… I started out creating characters for the sculpts I liked, then making a few character dolls. I haven't actually shelled any of my OCs because I feel that it kinda restricts them.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
They've certainly inspired me to take up sewing and crocheting and photography. But they're also important companions that sit by my side when I need them.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
SD! They're just nice to carry around (though they're heavy and take up space) and great to photograph and pose.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
An Angelregion Little Fair Ren boy. Yes! I had thought about selling him in the past, but it was too much hassle and after I changed his faceup, I fell in love again. ^^

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Wigs! I love seeing all the different wig styles and colours that are available (and ended up collecting quite a few… ok, a lot).
      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Has owning BJDs let you discover a talent/personality quirk that you never knew you had?

My answer: I thought I was quite thrifty when it came to expenditures at first. Then I blew over a thousand on a doll. *lol*

    36. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

Almost 10 years now! Time really flies haha

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

I currently own over 40 counting floating heads and dolls who share 1 body to save space.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

I really enjoy the vast diversity in the sculpts and being able to bring out various characters with the same doll.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

The vast amount of information in one place as well as a well monitored marketplace!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

Mostly shelling OCs minus the few limited dolls that caught my eye that generally became their own character over time.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

A little bit of sewing and mostly photography. Most of my characters are already written by the time they make it to bjd form but seeing them 'in person' is something really special to me.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

Probably SD13. While I adore my msds and yosds, I find I enjoy designing the bigger dolls more.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

My first doll was my Angell Studio Adam and he is still here and well-loved! He's almost 10 years old now.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

Tied between wigs and shirts. The perfect wig can really bring my characters to life. And having multiple shirts for the crew helps them feel more alive to me.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Have you ever had a bjd accident and if so, how did you deal with it?

As for my answer, I've had 2. The first one was when my one boy fell forward while I was posing him and he bashed his nose on my forehead- denting the tip of his nose! I think it gives him some character. The second was when I was putting a shirt with a zipper on my first bjd and part of it scrapped a little bit of his eyebrow off! Thankfully a friend helped me color it back in but it was quite the scare.

    37. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      Since summer of 2014 ^^

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
      I now own 16. Just a few left on my wishlist. The brother-sister pair I call my top grails never made it to production. I'll never stop wishing for them, though... ;o;

      3. Favorite thing about bjds?
      Their cuteness! :XD:
Overall, I love seeing how BJD owners make the doll their own.

      4. Favorite thing about DoA?
It is easy to access (even via basic mobile browser, I really appreciate that.) I particularly enjoy browsing the marketplace and lurking in the sewing and crafting sections.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like...?
      All of the above!
6 = Original characters, including 1 "mini me"
6 = adopted an existing character or shelled a copyrighted character
4 = I just liked the doll and am trying to develop a character to suit the sculpt. (In truth, I especially struggle to bond with these 4.)

      6. Are bjds inspiration for your...?
At my outset I wanted a pocket-sized companion for whom I could craft fashion items from my favorite video games. I have explored several corners of the hobby since then, and crafting is still my favorite thing to do with them, while character and backstory remain a major stumbling block for me.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
      Tinies, esp. 26-35cm.
They are easy to handle, can portray a range of ages, and are so fun to find props for.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Oceanmoon's Renewal Eun-Ryoung! Yes, I still have her, and also luckily managed to adopt a first edition later on. I'm forever such a fan of this company and sculpt! :...(

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Wigs, eyes, and lots of fabric and yarn for making clothes!

      10. Your question here:
What is that one thing you just can't seem to find anywhere?!:aninja:

For me, the perfect wig for my #1 main character! I have even home-styled a few attempts, but so far nothing does the job totally right.

      My responses:
2: Worst customizing mistake / fix:
I modded a vinyl head to have a nose and open mouth. It went badly. I re-purchased the head with a renewed and much improved faceup from the company. No further mods necessary!

3: Dream doll which doesn't exist yet:
a (non-beefcake) 50-55cm boy who would look good coupled with my 50cm girl. A male by the same company was in the works, but they went on "indefinite hiatus" before finishing the sculpting.

      4: Favorite ongoing story-bit:
One of my least developed characters is making progress lately. She is finally getting more attention from me because of an upcoming masquerade prom theme meet in my area. I'm excited to finally "hear" any personality from her, even if it's awkward nervousness about the notion of being at prom alone.

5: If I could keep one only...:
I'd probably have to keep my first, EunRyoung, and use her as my shell for my OC. She looks too young but I'd have to smoosh both characters into the sculpt I favor the most, squint, and enjoy it.

6: If I could go back to before my first doll:
I'd buy my first as the fullset I loved, instead of blank. I spent SO much time and money trying to bring her up to par, but it's still not the same.

      7: Props?
I don't have too many yet! I'm designing some of my main characters' props for 3D printing, but it's very slow going since I've never had training.

8: Ever fallen out of love with your plan?
Not so much fallen out of love, but more "came to my senses," as I repeatedly fall for, then try but fail to bond with 40ish cm size dolls. I've been learning to resist.

9: Your grail, and why? Oceanmoon's Ara-Nuri, and as a side, her brother sculpt, Asa-Mir. Sculpting progress was posted on Oceanmoon's blog. I loved their noses and eye shapes a lot! I bought my 50cm girl just to see what the size would be like, and as a placeholder until Ara-Nuri and Asa-Mir would be released. But they never were finished or produced.

      10: Ever see yourself quitting?
Yes, on stressful days I get the idea that I should sell nearly everything and drop off the social scene entirely. I'm already barely into social at all. But there are a few wonderful people I'm lucky to know who can always seem to bring me back from that ledge.

11: Buy a doll just as a companion for another doll?
Not without the relationship already being central to the character's story or identity. For instance, Chong-Lan was bought specifically because I saw him as a critical counterpart of Eun-Ryoung's character. They were made by the same sculptor, so they go together seamlessly. So far I have not bought one based solely on "___ seems lonely..." but I am starting to feel that way about my 50cm girl.

      12: Naming dolls?
Most of mine still rely on their company/sculpt names. Some have "individual" names but I am not in the habit of using them. I have a very hard time giving names to objects ><

13: Dolls have souls, or mere objects?
Somewhere between the two? I treat them gently when handling, but when they go into storage I don't fret about folding one practically in half.

      14: My doll's full names?
Most go by their sculpt names on a daily basis. I'll try to keep my profile up to date as I think of their names though.

15: The One That Got Away:
When I was ready to buy my first doll, Oceanmoon offered Eun Ryoung as a blank doll, or an adorable mori style full set. I LOVED the full set but thought, I'm crafty, I could save the $100 difference and imitate that at home. In short: I couldn't imitate it, spent a lot of time and money trying, and I'm still regretting that MISTAKE.

      16: Favorite doll style:
      Cute and anime style dolls

      17 -
      18 -

19: Silliest use of a doll part?
Swapping spare hands and feet of a tiny doll onto a mini body just to hold the strings while I was cleaning the mini's hands and feet.

      20: Pets for your dolls?
I don't have any, but I have some ideas I'd like to eventually make from clay and flocking.

21: Pen, Needle, Stand, Lens, or Clay?
Look. I know I'm supposed to choose the needle because I sew more than the other options, but if given those options... I mean.. Needles, you can get 50 for $1. You better believe I'd snag that lens. I don't have a nice camera but I totally envy people who do. A stand sounds nifty too. I don't display my dolls at home, but maybe if I had nice stands for them I would be more apt to do that..

22: Favorite doll you own & why?
Other than my first (who I have already gushed over) I really favor the hybrid who represents my main OC. The body is Oceanmoon's Sister body. Very few were produced or sold. It has THE most lovely feminine silhouette I have seen in YoSD size, and is by far my favorite body in my collection. Her head is Bluefairy Hana, who has a whopping alien egghead but the face's expression and shape is perfect for my character.

      23: Handling with expected care?
I never expected to wear cotton gloves every time I change doll clothes or pose, but I still ritualistically wash my hands to lab geek standards every single time before handling resin. Occasionally I get a near-miss that reminds me to be more cautious. The dolls that are irreplaceable, I'm more careful with them.

24: Your aesthetic in a word?
      Sweet.

      25: Age of your characters?
They range from Eun Ryoung at 4, thru BoNee at about 28, and ShouRyu I totally can't tell because his scale is so off compared to all the 1/6 that I am used to looking at. Maybe he's in his mid/upper 30s?

      26: -

      27: Favorite sculpt? Least favorite?
I love so much Volks Renee, also SDM F-39. I'm not keen on Fairyland sculpts, despite their popularity.

28: Collect other types of dolls?
Plushies! I have a couple other plastic figures and dolls, but none in multiple, so I wouldn't consider them a collection.

      29: Aesthetic or poseability?
      Depends on the character!
I absolutely love a doll with pretty lines. But for my warriors, I prefer poseability.

      30: -

      31: Most expensive mistake:
Skipping out on the fullset from the outset. Between clothes, custom faceup (+int'l shipping two-ways,) art supplies, time, stress, and all the retail therapy to make it all okay-ish again... I should have paid the extra $100 and enjoyed life instead.

32: What to say about your favorite doll?
She perfectly shells my avatar, my little fairy cheerleader. She's the character who brightened my darkest days and got me through a tough era. Also just look at that sculpting, the mischievous eyebrows... and this charismatic pose she can do....

      33: First doll you sold?
My second doll, a Luts KDF Bory girl. I bought her mainly to see if I would like "such a big doll." I kept her 2.5 years before admitting that the answer is "not really." Sold her to a local friend who wanted her badly. Win all around! ^^

      34: Dream fandom custom?
Oh, uh... definitely a Pokémon character.

35: Has the hobby revealed a side of you?
It forces me to be more social / leader than I naturally am. On the other hand, I think it has made my collecting / crafting / cluttering way worse. Moments in which I notice these "sides of myself" trigger my "I should leave the hobby" moods.

      36: BJD accident?
Yeah, Chong Lan. He always resists / puts up a fight. I tried some new eyes in him and his head went flying from my hand. The sealant was a wreck after his drop/bounce/skid combo, but the faceup itself not too badly damaged. I hit him with ZM Finishing Powder Spray which *mostly* covered the damage. I don't change his eyes anymore. At all.

37: One thing you can't find anywhere:
Wig for my #1 OC. It should be light red, flipped-out asymmetric bobbed style in size 6. Preferably parted over the left eye to the right. Not faux/fur.

38: How your dolls are displayed:
They're not! With a high energy stepson and MIL who lets herself in the house to critique everything: "and how much did THOSE cost?!" My dolls live safely in a plastic bin in the cozy darkness of my closet.

    38. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      10 years already.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I currently have 18 and I'm waiting for the 19th. 5 of those are Volks DDs though.
I don't really want to many more though. I'm out of room and I'd likely have to sell some first before buying more.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Just how pretty they are, especially dressed up in their fanciest outfits and put on display.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Probably the marketplace, but I still really enjoy the community feel of things. I love seeing other peoples photos and reading discussions.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Most of my dolls have been made into my own characters. But I usually buy a doll first just because I like how it looks. Creating a character around it comes later.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
A bit of everything really. I like writing and I've dreamed up stories around their characters, I have yet to actually write anything yet though. Artwork yes, I have drawn several images featuring my dolls. Sewing also a bit too. I used to make lots of outfits for them, but I haven't had much time lately. Now they just wear their fancy fullset outfits.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
I love the larger sizes. At first I just owned SD sized dolls but then I got my first 70+ size and I just fell in love with the size. Now I have 5 (with the 6th on the way) that are 70cm or bigger.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first was a Luts redemption the Moon fullset. I still have him (And everything he came with) and even though he's over 10 years old he still has a very special place in my heart.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Fancy outfits! I don't make my own anymore, but I just love looking for amazingly detailed outfits for my dolls. Especially big frilly dresses and fantasy warrior outfits.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
I don't really know. I do like to see the way people have their dolls displayed. So probably something like that. I love looking at room tour posts, and seeing dolls included in some peoples tours makes me especially happy. :)

    39. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      12 years... o_O

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Currently 6 dolls, may or may not end up with more. x3

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The amazing customization and ability to bring characters to life, in a manner of speaking.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
All the helpful information other members are able to provide when unsure of something, the help, and the community overall; as well as the ability to find/buy/sell dolls and doll parts & accessories in a safe location.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Sort of a combination of shelling OC's and creating characters around sculpts I like. Depends on the sculpt and the character, or "what the doll tells me" after I get it.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
A little of all of the above, kind of. Mostly for me they're a purely creative outlet to sew, craft, paint, photograph, etc.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
I'm particularly fond of the 1/4 "MSD" scale; larger dolls are a bit clunky for me (though I do have one larger "SD" size), while smaller dolls just seem a little too petite.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first was my Soony/B&G hybrid, bought from another DoA member back in 2011, and yes, I still have her.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Favorite thing to buy are random finds at second hand stores I can use for furniture.. favorite things to make thus far arare

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Q: What originally got you into BJD? /// A: The fact that I always loved dolls growing up; when I found out about BJD I instantly fell in love with the idea of them. :3

What was your worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it?
So far, just messing up on faceups. I think the worst was making the eyes too dark when I hadn't sealed enough, sealing over it thinking I would be ok with it and having to wash off the whole thing anyway.

If you could have one doll only, which would you choose and why?
That's crazy hard, 'cause I love them all... If I had to pick just ONE, I guess it would be Leandra, because she was originally supposed to be a sort of doll-me to do costumes and stuff for, like a mini me. She's of course turned into her own character but she's still got a special place in my heart because of that origin.

Going back, what would you do differently before starting on this hobby?

I would have to go back to when I first heard about BJD; not when I got started, but when I first WANTED to get started...and I would find a way to get that first doll back then rather than wait (nearly 8 years!) to take the plunge.

What kind of props do you have?

Plushies, little vases, books, pictures, a couch I made from an old CD rack, and various random objects.

Have you ever fallen head over heels for a doll, plan on getting it, but then you look at it again later and realize your love for it is totally gone?

Sort of, it's happened with a few sculpts over the years.. mostly when I first found out about BJD I LOVED Volks... came to love Iplehouse's face sculpts a lot more so my love for most of my old Volks favorites is gone.

do you ever see yourself leaving the hobby, or falling out of love with it?

Nope. I take breaks from it, since I have other hobbies, but I'll always love my dolls.

do you buy other dolls so that your doll has friends?

Only once, really, when I got Kai', Leandra's boyfriend. xD

how your dolls got their names?

Most of them kind of just come to me. Except for Hel, 'cause it's her name anyway.

Do you consider your dolls to be alive/ have a soul ? Or do you see them as lifeless objects?

I've heard tales that dolls were originally created to house wandering and lost souls... I kind of like the concept, as for some reason seeing them as just lifeless objects seems more creepy to me than if they actually had souls somehow.

What are your dolls' full names?

Most of my dolls only have a first names. o.o

What is you favorite doll style?

Are we talking sculpt wise? If so, I like a more realistic look. If we're talking style for customizing, my dolls either lean towards a casual goth, or fae/norse style somehow.

Do you like to buy pets for your dolls? If so, what kind?
I haven't yet, unless plushies count? If so they have a big ginger cat.

Do you collect other types of dolls? If so, what type?

I used to collect porcelain dolls but I much prefer BJD. Also have a couple of old American Girls' dolls in storage.

      Aesthetic or poseability?

Can't I pick both? If I have to pick one, I suppose poseability, since floppy unposible dolls kind of make me mad and break out the glue gun. lol

Whats the most expensive mistake you've made?

This is kind of lame but the only thing coming to mind was buying Kaiel a pair of boots that are so huge they look like they'd fit my SD girl instead. x'D

What was the first doll you sold and why?

I haven't yet... I MIGHT, but I'm not saying anything more... if so, the reason will be just general detachment from her and the desire to find her a better home (and her character possibly redolled into one I like better).

Have you ever had a bjd accident and if so, how did you deal with it?

      Yes... used to have my dolls up on a shelf which sadly wasn't protected from my insane cat's ability to jump and climb... found one of my dolls hands damaged... my immediate reaction was to hold her poor broken hands, start bawling like a baby and apologizing to her for letting it happen. I BROKE... then I fixed her hands after freaking out and buying a pair of jointed hands that turned out not to fit. >_>;

What is that one thing you just can't seem to find anywhere?!

Replacement HANDS. Not jointed, just the same hands as a body type/size as exact replacements for breakages. Because we all know hands are the most likely to break...so how come companies don't offer the exact hands to buy by themselves? That's like the ONE thing I wish I could find that doesn't seem to be a thing at all.

    40. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Joined in the beginning of January of this year but only started to become an active member of the community in April.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Currently I own four full dolls and one floating head. But I've ordered one last doll to complete my crew :)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
      Their customizability!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The kind and helpful community and all the unboxing/doll picutres!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I'm shelling OCs and non-OCs while buying sculpts I like.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
BJDs aren't my inspiration but more like the vessel for the characters which inspire my stories.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
1/3 SD size! Personally I find the MSD sized dolls too small and too child-like.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first BJD is the Dollfie Dream Snow Miku and yes, I still have her. She's gorgeous!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I greatly enjoy shopping for clothes.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
If you could only keep one of your dolls and had to sell the rest, which doll would you keep? - I'd keep my Volks SD13 FC-69, she's just beautiful, poses really well and her face up is just perfect!

    41. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
I joined in Nov 2006 so almost 12 years.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
At the moment there are 23 in the house, which is honestly too many, just in terms of space and how much attention they get. Since there are still other dolls I'd still like to own I'm trying to decide if I should sell some of my current crew to make room.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Their presence. By that I mean, they don't just rest in the space they occupy like most inanimate objects. When I walk into the room I can almost feel them looking at me. And that translates into the photos I take of them.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Compared to most other online spaces of today it's remarkably drama free. While I don't mean that bad behavior never happens here ever, I really don't have to worry about clicking into a thread to look at pictures and wincing at the comments. I can't say the same of pretty much any other social media I participate on.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Original characters of my husband and I, mostly. There have been a couple of times where I bought a doll and created a character for it but it's always been something that gets worked into our storylines.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
They are extremely important for my fine art photography. When I'm not doing commercial stuff I'm shooting dolls. All my work with film and alternative processes has been with dolls. I've gotten scholarships and in shows because of the things I've done with them. They're my biggest inspiration to create art.
That said, even if I never touched another camera I would still own them. They make me happy just by existing.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
45-60cms. While I own a few that are bigger and smaller than that size range I've found that anything over 65cm is just too much to handle, and anything under 45cm feels more like a toy.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Dream of Doll Homme Ducan, and yes I still have him. I'll never let him go.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Wigs, wigs, wigs. Because I have so many dolls each guy usually gets only one or two outfits and one pair of eyes but sometimes I can't resist buying cool wigs, even for dolls I don't own yet.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
What's the longest wait you've ever had for a doll or custom accessory?
For me, I waited 10 months for a custom pair of Mystic Eyes. The character needed a specific sci-fi look and the doll itself has really tiny narrow eyeholes that required a custom size, so it was the only option. This barely beat out the wait for my DC Dolores, which was part of a distributor pre-order that took 9 months to get.

Had to cut some questions because I hit the character limit.

What was your worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it?
Ruined a wig trying to style it. I had to buy another one. But mostly I'm a scaredy cat when it come to doing things to my dolls.

What is your dream doll that doesn't exist (yet)?
A Feeple 60 tan Woosoo. It will never happen.

My question to others would just be to share about a favorite story bit that is happening for them now.
I have a few zombie apocalypse characters that are doing well with rebuilding society.

If you could have one doll only, which would you choose and why?
My H. Ducan, he's my muse.

Going back, what would you do differently before starting on this hobby?
I'd buy more oldschool dolls before they all got discontinued.

What kind of props do you have?
All kinds of in-scale odds and ends that I've picked up over the years. Chairs are the most useful I think.

Have you ever fallen head over heels for a doll, plan on getting it, but then you look at it again later and realize your love for it is totally gone?
All the time. It's why I try to wait a month before buying a new doll and why I don't own many limiteds. I've learned to wait and see if it's infatuation or love before I pull the trigger so I miss out on a lot of timed releases.

What is your grail doll and why?
Immortality of Soul's Isis, a MSD boy in the style of their older grumpy anime boys. Was never released outside of Korea and I've never seen one in the wild, anywhere.

Hmm...do you ever see yourself leaving the hobby, or falling out of love with it?

I'll never get rid of all my dolls, so no.

Do you buy other dolls so that your doll has friends?
I like for each doll to have at least one friend from the same storyline as them. It doesn't always happen though.

Maybe about how your dolls got their names?
They're all named after the OCs they're based on.

Do you consider your dolls to be alive/ have a soul ? Or do you see them as lifeless objects?
While they certainly have a "presence" they are just dolls. The characters exist in my head.

What are your dolls' full names? (I really like naming dolls!)
      VV points down at signature~

What's the "one that got away" that still bugs you?
Tanned Delf/Feeple60 El. I missed him at Luts and then I missed him again at Fairyland, Both instances were because I thought they would be in production longer than they were.

What is the silliest thing you've ever done with your doll parts?
Whenever I have a doll head out for customization I'll drop a wig over the neck and stick the eyes in the palms of their hands. It creeps my husband out.

Do you like to buy pets for your dolls? If so, what kind?
I haven't yet but I really want one of the Eve cats! They're so awesome.

Out of the dolls you own, who is your favourite and why?
A toss up between my first doll Elias (H. Ducan) and Boy (Delf Yder). Love those old school guys.

After you purchased your first doll, did you handle them as carefully as you thought you would?
I was careful at first but now not so much. They're pretty sturdy.

If your doll(s) could be described in a style of music or an aesthetic, what would it be?
Uh, I have too many to answer them all!

Maybe how old your characters are.
Between 12 years and 2000 years, depending on the character.

What's your favorite and least favorite sculpt?
Out of the ones I own?
Favorite- is my DC Bella boy because he and his body pose and photograph so well at every angle and lighting.
Least favorite- my Soom Faery boys. They look pretty on the shelf but they don't hold poses for squat, the engineering suuuucks. Their wings are awkward because they can't sit wearing them. Nothing fits right, wigs or clothes. Restringing is a horrorshow. They're fragile.

Do you collect other types of dolls? If so, what type?
Nope, I don't have the inclination, extra money or space in my house.

      Aesthetic or poseability?
Both, though aesthetic is a little more important. Single jointed dolls are really beautiful. If a doll has lots of joints and double joints they'd better be actually well engineered and pose well or it's not worth it.

Whats the most expensive mistake you've made?

Probably buying a DC Dolores, I think he's really too big for me. Huge disappointment because I paid so much for him and waited so long. And his sculpting is lovely. He's just too big.

If you could describe your favorite doll, what would you say about them?
He may be pretty but he's a tough boy.

What was the first doll you sold and why?

I sold my Migidoll Ryu. I learned that sometimes liking someone else's photos of a specific doll means you like... that specific doll. Not the sculpt as a whole. Plus this particular doll never came together the way I wanted. Clothes were never right, body was awkward and didn't match completely, faceup didn't work for him, couldn't find the right wig, etc. It just turned me off completely and I had to send him on.

Hm.... maybe - if you were to have someone offer to buy/customize you a doll with the only caveat being that it had to be for a fandom, which character and fandom would you pick?
Probably a Tony Stark/Iron Man doll, though stylized from the comic and not a minimee RDJ because that would be too realistic for me.

Has owning BJDs let you discover a talent/personality quirk that you never knew you had?
Photography for sure. I never even touched a camera until the day Elias came. I bought a little point-n-shoot on the way to pick up the package for his box opening and the rest is history.

Have you ever had a bjd accident and if so, how did you deal with it?
Fluorescent lighting in my room unevenly yellowed one of my boys so badly I had to replace his body. And one of my Faery boys broke a finger when he took a tumble off the shelf and my husband glued it back on. They're just so much more fragile than my big guys.

What is that one thing you just can't seem to find anywhere?!
Fantasy or sci-fi clothing with in scale fastenings and cloth that drapes properly that isn't also elaborate wizard robes or fancy embroidered doublets. Just every day stuff, tunics and trousers and things like that.

What originally got you into BJD?
I uh, found their entry on Encyclopedia Dramatica after being sent there from fandom_wank. The photos captivated me and it just snowballed from there. Not glamorous, but it's what happened.

    42. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? 8 years

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? Too many to count, seriously I've lost count (over 100?)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? Customization, the fact you can take one sculpt and change its eyes, wig, faceup and clothing style and it can look completely different to someone elses doll of the same sculpt. And the people I've met through the hobby has been amazing.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The Marketplace..lol..in all seriousness though DoA is great for looking up information, talking with people that have the same love as you do..the community in general. Though I'm not on as much or get into the discussion groups like I use to its still great to pop in and see what new dolls are out there and new people that have joined.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? All the above. At first I wanted to shell some character sketches I did of 7 characters that I created...then I gained Marketplace access and fell for a lot of 2nd hand dolls...lol. It was all over when I started looking at the news threads on new limited dolls coming out and that was the end..lol...I'm crazy for fantasy sculpts and fantasy colors so I've gone way off the cliff with my collection, but I have integrated all of them into my base storyline in same way. So I guess you'd say I'm also shelling out characters for my photostories.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? All the above...I create photostories with them, I create clothing, photography and a little bit here and there for business. One of my dolls always comes along with me to conventions as my mascot for the weekend. I just love going into my doll room and seeing all their little resin faces, it makes me smile, it makes me happy.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? I'd have to say MSD, they are a great size to make clothing for and don't take up as much room as SDs (though I still have a few SDs and bigger) and its easier to find props that work for them.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? Resinsoul Mei and Mai and yes they will always stay with me they are two of the main characters of my stories.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I love finding props for them that work, but I'd have to say when I actually have time making clothing for them is my favorite thing (until I finally get started on building that dollhouse..lol)

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? What is the most frustrating part of this hobby for you and why? My answer: Besides trying to find dolls I missed when they were released and trying to find them on the 2nd hand market..I'd say feeling inadequate at what brought me into this hobby. Not being able to really bring my characters to life, because I'm not very good at faceups and though I'm a pretty decent seamstress, I've seen so many amazing artists that its frustrating that I can't create such style as others. Its frustrating because though I can always buy items from others or have others do faceups on my dolls...I just feel like they really aren't my own unless I completely create them.

    43. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Since Aug 26, 2017, so a bit less than a year!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
6 at home, 3 on the way... I thought I'd be fine with 3-5 but I guess I don't care anymore and will just buy/sell as feels good.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The customizeability! And that they are works of art, someone has put in thought and effort to create something wonderful.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
I love reading, I just read everything I can on DoA and take it all in like an information sponge.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Do player customized characters in games like MMOs count as OCs? Thats mostly what I shell. But now I've started buying some sculpts and creating characters just based on them and aesthetics I like.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
They're an inspiration for sewing, photography and generally also just important for themselves!
Sewing is a new skill I've gotten thanks to the hobby and the dolls also rekindled my love for photography.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
      50-65cm

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Iplehouse JID Cordelia was my first and she's still with me. <3

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
My favorite thing to buy would be shoes and wigs, favorite thing to make would be skirts.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Were you into the dark punk and gothic style of bjd's waaay back? :) (I'm on the fence, I did like the clothes, but not the make up style or fur wigs so much.)

    44. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

Three and a half years - time sure does fly!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

Let me count...I have 12 dolls, and I really wish I didn't own so many. I've tried to set limits for myself and they never seem to work because I'm a hopeless addict. I really don't seem to like having more than 11 dolls, though, so maybe I can convince myself to sell one soon.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

That's a good question! Probably the photography I get to do with them.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

I like the wealth of information we have here. It's really useful for checking doll news and references.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

      Just sculpts I like!

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

My dolls aren't really inspiration for anything. I like to take photos of them and that's primarily what they're there for, but I also like dressing them up.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

      I like that in-between 30cm size!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

My first BJD was a Kids-Sky Moonstone and she's long gone. :sweat

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

      Eyes!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Who's your favorite doll in your collection? Mine is probably my MYou Lorina - she's my sidekick. ;)

    45. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

September 2011, just shy of 14 years.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

      4 currently, I'd like to get at leas 3 more, kind of wish I hadn’t sold a few. ^^;

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

Faces! Just the look of them, and the possibility. The ability to create with them.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

The community, I love talking to people and I’ve missed DOA.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

A little of all of the above! I kind of find sculpts I like and make them fit into the world I created. I used to have a larger story and was only making characters form that world, but now I just kind find ones I like and build chacarters to fit with the current ‘family’ of dolls.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

All, I like to draw them, ive sewen for them...and written for them.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

The 60cm and under BJD. I like the SD10 heights and MSD’s Larger than the 60cm are too big for me!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

First was a Dream Of Doll Si, but he didn’t work as MSD sized character so I sold him. I still have the 2nd and 3rd dolls I bought though!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

CLOTHES! I myself have a ton, and I love buying them for my dolls.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Uhhh..Im not good that that. LOL. I just like to answer.

    46. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

Since July 2015! About three years ago.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

Currently 4 full dolls, 1 off-topic doll that uses a BJD body--and ideally I'd like to add two more dolls this year!

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

I love seeing my OCs shelled into physical form, customizing them perfectly to what resides in my imagination.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

The search bar on DoA is my best friend! I can find topics I'm researching for my doll projects or find owner photos of the dolls I'm interested in.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

I'm shelling original characters but want to have non-OC based dolls in the future.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

They inspire me to expand on the world-building aspects of my stories. Also experimenting and developing my crafting and model-making skills.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

The awkward middle children like the 30cm and 50cm dolls.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

The first doll I spent money on was my Withdoll Cathy. Due to the 3-month waiting period she came home second. And yes, most definitely, I still have her!!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

Doll props! Something for them to hold in their hands when I take photos. Doll sized magnifying glasses!!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Who would you like to get into the BJD hobby? My answer: I want to get my sister back into BJDs! She sold all her dolls years ago but still is interested whenever I bring a new doll home.

    47. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Wow, almost 12 years! I hadn't realized it had been that long.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have 3 full dolls, 4 floating heads, and two more heads on the way. I have no idea how many I plan to have since I never planned to have this many in the first place, but I do still have dolls on my wishlist!

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
I like "playing god," honestly haha.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Getting to see everyone's beautiful dolls, as well as how awesome a resource it is for photo comparisons, tutorials, etc.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Just buying sculpts I like...I tried to shell OCs before, but when I received the doll, it always spoke to me in a different way.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Inspiration for daydreaming, and getting to learn/practice various crafts.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
MSD! I think the size is more manageable for me... but I love tons of SD sculpts and have one SD head and one on the way...saving up for bodies for them as well!

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Iplehouse JID Vito, and I still have him!

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I love all the clothing options out there, but hate that they basically cost the same as my own clothes. Right now I have a lot of naked dolls/heads...but once my collection settles down more I will be buying more wigs, eyes, and clothes, as well as trying my hand at making my own.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Do you collect other types of dolls?
I do not, but I am very tempted! I keep a spreadsheet of my owned and wishlist dolls, and I have to admit that some non-BJD dolls have snuck onto my wishlist tab!

    48. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      10-12 years? I honestly can’t remember...

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I have 20 at this moment not sure if it will continue growing or not just yet.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
All the artistry that comes from owning one, I love doing faceups, mods and sewing for all of the different sizes. I’m currently working on a diorama so that’s been exciting though time consuming for sure.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Being able to reconnect with friends and the accessibility of buying legit dolls without it being a major concern.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
A bit of both, some characters flourish through the screen or some are born out of the sculpts I like. Some are planned and sought out.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
All, for sure, they inspire and hone all of my talents in the best way possible.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
YoSD... it’s almost ridiculous how many I have...

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Yes and no, my first BJD was an angel Region Ami. While I did get another I sold the one I originally had to a friend of mine.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Currently it’s floral patterned short shorts. They’re surprisingly easy to make if you do the steps correctly.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
      Q:
What is the funniest thing you’ve seen throughout the hobby?

A: Nobility dolls advertisement photos for one of their bodies... I’ll never forget the famous last words “Papilla feel good”

    49. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
7.5 years (since January 2011) - I joined around the time I was ordering my first BJD

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
At the moment I have 17 full dolls and one more on order. There are only a couple more sculpts that I am interested in eventually owning, but who knows what else will come out in the future and catch my interest?

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Being able to bring created characters to life through dolls has been incredibly inspiring for me. The feeling of having dolls that are uniquely my own and being able to share that with others is something really special.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
It was really helpful when I was starting out in the hobby and looking for information. I have also enjoyed using the marketplace, and participating in anniversary contests!

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I started out buying sculpts I liked, and they quickly developed characters and created a story world for themselves. I tend to buy dolls that I like the look of, and then fit them into the story of my other dolls.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
I have tried to write the story of my dolls, but I found it tedious and gave up. I prefer to keep it in my head (though I will explain it orally to anyone who is interested!). BJDs got me back into sewing. I was finding it hard to motivate myself to complete large sewing projects, and sewing for dolls was just so much simpler and less expensive! I was able to start by using the scraps I had lying around and found I really enjoyed that.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
I have dolls of all sizes from Pukifee to 65cm SD, but I find the MSDs easiest to work with (for posing, sewing, carrying around, etc.). I find SDs very impressive looking, and they are the size I have the most of, but I tend to do the most with my MSDs.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first BJD was a Latidoll Green Grown Up Lea, purchased in 2011, and I do still have her. She is one of only 2 yoSD sized dolls that I own, as I found that I don't particularly love the size, but as my first doll I don't have the heart to let her go.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I enjoy searching for and buying that perfect outfit for each of my dolls, and I tend to rarely change them out of it after that. I like making casual everyday pieces like simple sweaters and stockings, and I find making costumes for my dolls pretty fun as well.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
If you had to pick a favourite doll from your collection, which would it be and why?
I find my favourite tends to change depending on who has the latest and most up to date style and outfit, but in general I would have to say it's my Luts Delf Arwen in real skin brown. There's just something about this doll that I find incredibly stunning. She has a really unique faceup and character and she's really fun to dress.

    50. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
Two years and a half. :)

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
      I have 17 BJDs (6 SDs, 4 MSDs, 1 YoSD, 6 tinies), and I'm waiting for a SD, so 18 soon !
I wish to have more SDs and MSDs but don't have enough space for now.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
I love the fact that each BJD is different, and I really love taking photos of them, eventhough my photos are not great ^^'

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
There are so many useful topics here, and many people here are very nice :)

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
I just buy sculpts that I like, although I've tried to create characters for my bigger dolls recently.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
BJDs inspire me to create clothes and for photography!

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
      I love SDs, they're my favorite ! ♥

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
It was a Suzette by La Compagnie des Radis, and I don't think I'll ever sell her. ♥

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
To buy: eyes and clothes. To make: clothes! I enjoy knitting sweaters for my dolls.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Who is your favorite doll in your collection ?
It's would be Lance, my Luts SD boy (winter event 2013). He's my favorite but I always struggle to take good photos of him, somehow he always looks better irl than on camera ^^'

    51. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?

I'll have been in the hobby 8 years come September.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?

I have 8 full dolls and 15 floating heads. As far as how many I want, is there an infinity sign I can use? >_>

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?

How versatile they are. You can sew for them, paint them, make furniture for them, and photograph them, or create stories for them.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

The amount of information and BJD history on the site.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

I buy sculpts I like, and then sometimes create stories and characters around the sculpts.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

Currently they're just things I like to look at and occasionally photograph.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

      My favorite size is 60cm+

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?

My first doll was a Dollzone Chen, but the LE Asura version, and yes I still have him.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

      E..everything. >_> *my wallet weeps*

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Were there things, dolls or doll types you previously didn't like, but do now?

In the very beginning I didn't care for WS, but now I have dolls, and doll heads in WS, and I'm increasingly considering more.

    52. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
If you count how long I've been officially signed up for DOA, which was November 14th 2007 (wow, I didn't realize it was that long ago:aeyepop:), almost 11 years. If you count how long I've been officially active on here, it's more like 2-3 years (or so).

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
Including in all states of finished/unfinished, I have 15 full bjds, one head, and a lot of extra hands and feet :XD:. As for the number I wish to have, my limit will be 18-20 at most.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Variety, and scale. Especially SD, as most other doll lines don't come even close to that scale without being child-like or baby dolls (or made of cloth).

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
The reason I tend to gravitate back to here when most other platforms don't do it for me: community. Instagram feels too much like a competition (and isolating), Facebook is a jumbled mess of posts, and YouTube is mainly good for posting videos and not starting two-way conversations (ongoing anyways). (long ramble, but I wanted to emphasize my point :3nodding:)

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Mainly OCs (currently got three different story-lines going), but I also have a few non-OCs based off of some characters from one of my favorite series (that they were never going to get around to making figures of, so I had to create some for myself).

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Mainly they're writing inspiration and visual models for the writing process (or that's how it started out anyways!:XD:). But, as I've delved further into the hobby itself, they've also become muses to try working on developing other skills/crafts, such as eye-making, wig-making, sewing, and possibly sculpting my own doll or two.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
Easily SD. As I mentioned in #2, I love their scale, and the size makes them easier to design for and work on. (Clothing, faceups, accessories, etc. are easier when you're working on a larger model, as the smaller you go, the less detail, and the ability to keep to scale gets more difficult [I can't imagine painting eyelashes on a tiny!])

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first was a B&G (Boy & Girl) Triya, whom I no longer have. A friend of my mom's really wanted a bjd after seeing some of mine, so my mom gifted Triya to her :)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Buying...probably either clothes or furniture (leaning more towards clothes). As for something I like to make, um....wigs? It's still a work in progress, but I'm having more ease with creating wigs over other bjd related props/items right now. Beyond that, I like doing my own faceups myself:3nodding:

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Have your tastes changed, or remained the same, in BJDs since joining the hobby?
For my response to this: I would say it's evolved. Considering my first was a more stylized MSD girl, I've been veering heavily away from that aesthetic towards more realistic and SD scaled with most of my current crew. Although I do have a couple of exceptions to this :kitty2 (currently have 3 MSDs, two of which are more stylized/anthropomorphic).

    53. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      Since June of 2010.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
25 on-topic and several off-topic sidekicks. Considering I only ever planned to have three, I'm not sure how that happened! ;)

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The multitude of ways to pose them and create subtly new displays every day if you wanted to.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Seeing all the brilliantly creative things other people do with their dolls. I'm always in awe of some of the fabulous artists we have here.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
Mostly just buying sculpts that I like. :)

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
They've been a bit of all of them. They've given me story ideas, been models for sewing projects and drawing practice, and they make for great display pieces.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
I go back and forth, but these days I have a certain fondness for those odd-sized 50cm(ish) range ones.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first was Volks Heath, and I do still have him. He's not really what I think of as my style anymore, but he's still the senior statesman around here. :)

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
To buy, fancy jackets. To make, track suits.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
I can't think of anything clever right now, but maybe I'll come back to this one later... ;)

    54. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
      TEN YEARS omg

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
      ...
I don't know. I would have to count and I was looking at my list earlier and I think it's jenked up and not totally accurate. So. Yeah. I usually hover around 70 though. *cough*

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
Customizing. That was the reason I started and it's so much more fun now, that I can do things (well) than it was back when I started and could barely do anything (mostly due to fear)

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Lack of drama for sure. Way less than anywhere else in the internet. The information, which is invaluable.
Talking with other BJD owners for sure. And sharing photos...because sometimes that's the only motivation I have to do things with my dolls XD

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
      Yes.
lol. Seriously though all those things. Used to be mostly OCs but lately it's been a lot of fan dolls of characters from books and comics....
I generally try to stay away from buying dolls I just like...I'd have about 150 more otherwise.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
      Writing and art, yes

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
I have been all over the place with favorite sizes but now it's 70cm.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
Dollmore Kara Klum and yes. He's 10 this year. He'll stick around.
      FOR
      EV
      ER

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
Extra heads. I need to shake that habit. It's a great way to go broke. Also one of my dolls seems to travel with his four extra heads...so that's more crap to haul around.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
I got nuthin. I'll come back to it when I answer other people's.....
Ok Here's one. It's lame but all I can think about right now:
Have you ever re-shelled any of your BJDs characters? From what to what?
Yes many and of those several many times D:
My worst was my third doll who was a Dollzone Shoyo. Then a Minifee Reyon(sp?), then a Zaoll Rami...then a Dollmore Miso. Now she's a Ringdoll Aya, Alice99 and Mona. I said I liked extra heads.

EDIT: Answered some questions (avoided the ones I would have just answered no too)
worst customizing mistake, and how did you fix it?
I will be that person. I’ve never made one that that’s bad. I’ve messed up faceups, but it’s nothing I couldn’t fix. I once sprayed with gloss MSC instead of flat (how I got gloss is anyone’s guess) but it was the first spray so nothing got ruined. My best advice in this hobby is to look up multiple ways to do a thing, then go slow. I follow that and have never had a horrible mistake (yet.)

What is your dream doll that doesn’t exist (yet)?
      *ahem*
Dollmore Kara Klum, WS, Fangs (open mouth!!!)*

*repeated for the four billionth time

Going back, what would you do differently before starting on this hobby?
Maybe I wouldn’t have bought so many dolls when I was waiting on my Dollshe Saint all those years ago. That’s kind of when my collection got huge. Also maybe I would have tried not to buy anything smaller than a YO

Have you ever fallen head over heels for a doll, plan on getting it, but then you look at it again later and realize your love for it is totally gone?
Yes, many times thank god. I would own so many more dolls omg

What is your grail doll and why?
Has been and always will be Volks Michele. I don’t know why, I just love him. He cost me a fortune but after 5 years of pining I got one. 5 years later he’s still my only grail.

Hmm...do you ever see yourself leaving the hobby, or falling out of love with it?
No it's too tied in with my art now. I could never

What is the silliest thing you’ve ever done with your doll parts?
If one of my dolls has a removable penis, I take it off and put it in the penis box. That’s about it.

Do you like to buy pets for your dolls? If so, what kind?
Sometimes. It depends on what the doll is and what the pet is. John has a cat and a crow.

out of the dolls you own, who is your favorite and why?
This is kind of painful because after 8 years in the hobby my answer, that was always the same, changed….my favorite is my Ringdoll K now.

After you purchased your first doll, did you handle them as carefully as you thought you would?
YES I handled him like he was made of glass. Now I’m all *throws them around*

If your doll(s) could be described in a style of music or an aesthetic, what would it be?
All forms of rock (depending on the doll naturally)

What’s your favorite and least favorite sculpt?
I don’t have a least favorite, so here’s two favorites: Ringdoll K and Dollmore Kara Klum

Whats the most expensive mistake you’ve made?
Not buying a Dollstown 15 body when I decided that was the body I wanted way back in the day. I ended up buying many cheaper options for that head until DT said they were discontinuing the 15 yr boy body…then I bought one anyway. So if I’d just done that first I could have saved so much money…..

If you could describe your favorite doll, what would you say about them?
He’s a weirdo who is total freedom

What was the first doll you sold and why?
Dollzone Shoyo – my third doll
She didn’t work for me as the character I bought her for.

Hm.... maybe - if you were to have someone offer to buy/customize you a doll with the only caveat being that it had to be for a fandom, which character and fandom would you pick?
The Joker. I’ve got several I’ve customized already and I have three more I want to do, but it would be fun to have one done by someone else

Has owning BJDs let you discover a talent/personality quirk that you never knew you had?
      Styling and cutting hair

Have you ever had a bjd accident and if so, how did you deal with it?
I was carrying a bunch of dolls around once (bad idea) and dropped my B&G Sapphira who has long elf ears on pegs. One of them broke.
I messaged B&Gs ebay dealer (no longer exists) and he sent me a new pair

Also I let my first doll faceplant on the carpet….he broke a finger. I was really upset by this, but I also had extra hands for him so it wasn’t really a big deal.

What originally got you into BJD?
Customizing action figures - spoiler alert! I sucked at it.

Were you into the dark punk and gothic style of bjd’s waaay back?
Yep! Depending on the doll, I still am. They all different styles.

Were there things, dolls or doll types you previously didn’t like, but do now?
I own a lot of dolls I didn’t like before XD But I really used to dislike 70cm dolls. They upset me because I couldn’t handle them or find clothes. Now that’s all I want….

Have your tastes changed, or remained the same, in BJDs since joining the hobby?
YES I am into taller and more realistic dolls now. Which isn’t good for most of my collection. sigh

    55. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA?
I've been a member of DOA since 2009.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I shamelessly own over 30. I originally told myself "only three."

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds?
The customization. They serve as beautiful blank canvases, and I love using said canvas to shell my OCs in resin.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?
Meeting new friends and helping my fellow hobbyists.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?
      Original characters. Always.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?
Honestly the fiction comes before the doll in my case, but having the physical representation of my characters in my office helps keep me motivated while writing. They also challenge me to try new art forms.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?
      1/4, hands down.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first was a DOC Elf Petsha, and yes, I still cherish her.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?
I love making needle-felt plushies for my dolls most! I'm also addicted to buying urethane eyes.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Would you rather a doll company offer custom resin colors or custom face-up services? Answer is easy for me---custom resin! Not enough studios offer tan! Or fantasy hues! <3

    56. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? Since 2005, man time flies!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? I currently have nine and I have NO idea how that happened. :T

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? I love posing them and taking photos. I wish I were a better photographer or knew better how to use my boyfriend's DSLR. But even without many skills, it's fun to do. I need to get out there and take more photos!

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? Being able to get information! Even though I'm technically an oldbie, I still lurk more than I post, and I'm usually lurking in very informative threads n_n

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? I buy sculpts I like and see what develops. As I play with my dolls, their personalities seem to come through. Of course they're never what I intended them to be, but that's another story!

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? I don't write much, but I like having a "story" in my head about my dolls. I also just like looking at them, posing them, and changing their outfits. I just like having them around.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? This will hurt my SDCs' feelings, but I really love the 35cm size that my Bunny Nine/ Bunny Bunny dolls are. They're not to big, not to small, just right.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? My very first grail! SDC Kurenai. I still have her, and she's still my favorite.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I love shopping for wigs and clothes, and I'm fascinated by some of the props out there! I guess I don't really have a favorite. The only thing I've ever really made for my dolls are sock sweaters XD

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? Hmm, what would be your absolute limit for a price on a full set, holy grail doll? For me, it's probably $1000. The most I've ever paid for a doll was about $700 and I kinda choked on that price. But if I really, really had to have a doll, I still would not go over a thousand dollars. (I keep eyeing those Ami Ayases... and I know it'll never happen)

    57. 1. How long have you been a member of DoA? For about 9 months.

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)? For now I have one, I'll be getting my next one in September. Otherwise, I'd like to have at least five.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? The mechanics of the doll. For some reason the sound of shifting resin is quite soothing. That, and I like to marvel at the engineering choices made. Besides those, I like the different unusual faces and body design that companies produce. Especially the fantasy parts and carvings.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? The politeness and helpfulness that most people are characterized by. Also the strict rules. At least with those you know the mods aren't slacking off and you can be certain of what you're getting into.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? Usually I just buy sculpts I like. I don't feel the need to assign a specific character to the doll. More so a characteristic design associated with a sculpt. Hence why I don't like buying the same sculpt, typically.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? Both. A doll usually inspires me to sew something up, for example. But you have to actually like it on its own to "bond" with it, so to speak. Otherwise, everything you do with it will seem like a chore.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? Probably MSD or fashion doll size. Just seems nice to reminisce about the times you played with dolls as a kid. Also, I just like small things in general (miniatures, etc.) and there's the obvious issue with SD with space.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? It's a second hand bought NS Iplehouse SID Felix. And yes, I still have him.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? Accessories to buy, clothes to make.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?
Is there a characteristic of BJDs that can either make or brake your purchase depending on whether or not it's present? My answer would be the waist-to-hip ratio when it comes to female dolls and the shoulder-to-waist ratio for male dolls. If the WHR isn't around 0.6 - 0.7 and the SWR isn't 1.2-1.3, then I'd say it's almost entirely guaranteed I won't buy it.

      Since 2007 – 11 years!

      2. How many dolls do you have (and/or wish to have)?
I currently have 5 dolls and three floating heads. I think 8-10 dolls is my limit!

I love styling them. I love all of the details on the miniature clothing and shoes.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA?

DOA is hands-down the best resource for information on BJDs.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else?

I’m shelling OCs from a long-running RP, though I have a couple just because I like them.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)?

Absolutely. I love having a physical representation of my characters. They help me figure out things like fashion sense and styling, too.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd?

I only own SD size, so I’ll go with that! Until recently, there just weren’t mature mini options that appealed to me.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it?
My first BJD was a Dream of Doll E-an I bought secondhand. I sold her in 2011, I think.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds?

I love buying eyes. They’re so sparkly!

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)?

Who is your favorite BJD maker? Mine are Migidoll and Oasisdoll.

      3. What's your favorite thing about bjds? They can become anyone or anything you need them to be.

      4. What's your favorite thing about DoA? Sharing, both the joy, sadness and struggle with dolls and doll companies. Also sharing knowledge you have gained to help or get help from others who have that knowledge.

      5. Are you shelling Original Characters, non-OCs, just buying sculpts you like, or doing something else? Mostly OCs but a few of my favorite characters from anime and graphic novels.

      6. Are bjds inspiration for writing fiction, artwork, sewing, business, something else, --or just important for themselves (or both or all)? All of the above.

      7. What's your favorite size(s) of bjd? 60-72cm are my favorite.

      8. What's the first bjd you bought, and do you still have it? Yes and he is still my favorite, my avatar Ash.

      9. What's your favorite thing to buy and/or make for your bjds? I like making clothing for them and lately I am enjoying making wigs.

      10. If you were asking a meme question--what would it be (and what would your answer be)? The doll you love the look of but can't see yourself ever buying?
Mine would have to be Loongsoul's Black Tortoise. I love the look but he is more of a decorative piece than a doll I could play with.
