April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 2

I ordered earlier in May, paid by layaway and my doll arrived August 13th. You should be getting a shipping notice soon. I also got a shipping notice email.

 

I ordered my WS Fall on May 17th, and I paid my final layaway payment on July 17th. I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet, but then, I did add a faceup on a few days after the doll was paid off XD. So it will take a bit longer because of that. But hopefully my order will be shipped!

 

Hi everyone! I just discovered these gorgeous dolls and I'm contemplating a Senior body. It is so ​pretty! I can't get over how gorgeous her heel legs are! Can anyone tell me how often ASD runs this fabulous 40% off sale?

 

[MENTION=68265]urbanizer[/MENTION] So far they've had a 40% off sale twice since April, and might have one when winter comes around. I know that whenever they re-released their updated version of past dolls, they would offer them at a good percentage off for a time.

Were you planning on making a hybrid or getting a full April Story girl?

 

I'm planning a hybrid. I got a free impldoll head last week and it should work (maybe with minor modifications) on the senior body. But I love the ASD heads too....It will depend on how much I like the impldoll head when it arrives, I guess. Thanks for the info! 40% off is a horrible thing to pass up!

 

So I placed an order for two dolls from Aprilstory back in May. At first I was told they would ship mid-July, but when the time came I was told end of July after I asked on the Q&A board. And then by August they said my order would be shipped out by 8/7. So now its the end of August, no notification, and it seems that their website is down. Should I be worried or just be patient? These are the first dolls I'm buying straight from a company and one of them is for a friend so I'm not really sure what to expect.

 

I just recently placed an order, but with the site down and reading the troubles you're having, Jyuviolegrace, I'm starting to get worried. I'm wondering if I should file a claim on Paypal, but I don't want to be too hasty. I'm trying to be patient and hope that the site will be back up soon, but it's hard not to panic a bit. ^^;;

 

I recently checked the Q&A board and they were answering questions. Perhaps they forgot to renew the website name. Some big companies have done that. You have 180 days to file a claim with Paypal, so I wouldn't panic yet.

I sent them an email. We'll see if they respond.

 

I don't think this is cause for any worry or steps taken yet. I've seen this happen to their site before, maybe work on it is being carried out.
And they make wonderful dolls, but it's actually quite commen for them to give shipping dates that they can't deliver on. (If you check out the April Story waiting room, you can see one or two posts were that's mentioned.)
Have ordered from them several times before, and am waiting for 2 dolls from them at present as well, and I've just learnt it's better to wait patiently and see when an order gets sent. Because, even if they say the order will be sent next week, it might in fact take quite a lot longer, is my experience. All of my orders from them have so far arrived, so I'm not worried.

 

Thanks nancy_schroeder_ca and Wolfboy! I feel a lot calmer now. I've never experienced something like this before and went into a bit of a panic. ^^;; I hope you'll let us know if they respond, nancy-schroeder_ca. And it's good to know about the shipping dates, although a little disappointing that they don't deliver on them. I think I'll follow your lead, Wolfboy, and just patiently wait for it to ship whenever it does.

Where's the website gone ?

Is there a problem with production ?

Does production start when order is placed or when order is paid in full ?

How long is the current time from order to shipping ?

I've got a senior girl body in white skin on layaway and I'm super excited to get it home! Does anyone know what size clothes would fit her? SD16 or SD13? And would spiritdoll white match well enough do you think? I'm thinking about the jointed hands for her...

 

My April Story Junior Girl body arrived yesterday!! It's soooo cute and a little bit thinner than I was imagining Still, I think she's adorable!

I have to admit though, since I bought her second hand and she was shipped in pieces, I was NOT expecting such weird knee joints! I think I've got her correctly put together, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to restring her as you would any other BJD and just ignore the metal rods in the knees? I feel like she can come apart at any second and I can't see the benefit in having a doll strung this way.

 

I dunno for sure about the AS bodies, but if they're strung the same as when they were Ariadoll (it seems like it to me), then it is possible to take out the metal hooks. You will need longer string to do it like other dolls (so one piece from her neck down to her feet). The trick is when you get to the thigh holes, you have to criss cross the string. So the string on the left side of the body, would go into the right leg and vice versa. Hopefully that makes sense, it took me a while to realize that's what was going on! XD I just means you won't be able to switch to the heeled legs (if you got them).

 

I got the shipping notices form my dolls ordered at the end of May! And nice emails thanking me for my patience! Three dolls in two orders and all have face-ups.

PS: both orders have the same tracking number! That's going to be a heavy box!

 

Same here! I guess they must have finished a big batch of orders at the same time. This'll be the first time I get two sd sized dolls at the same time. Can't wait to see how big the box will be.

 

Well it looks like they got a whole batch in as several of us received shipping notices. I posted an open Q and A asking about my boy (they said they'd ship him a month ago) and got an "Oh, he shipped today! Thanks for your patience" response. I am excited. This is my first April Story and while I wish the wait time had been more accurate (not bothered by the length, I just like to know how long to wait) I am in eager anticipation of my Fall.

 

Same here. I like to know how long I should be waiting in case I do have to start asking for estimates on shipping. I had just convinced myself to just wait instead of trying to get a ship date out of them, since their estimate wasn't too accurate for me. The shipping notification email was a nice surprise to wake up to this morning.

 

EDIT: just found the non-Korean version of the website, haha. I'm so glad they're back. Spring is perfect for one of my characters.

 

It looks to me this may be a very small company with huge ambition, but poor communication skills.

They do make beautiful dolls, it's just a pity they don't employ someone to do their PR, so that people don't get so edgy when they see their dolls are still "payment received" instead of "item processing" and "item processing"when it should be "on shipping".

I'm sure it would put everyone's mind at rest, if people were given REASONABLY ACCURATE estimations of delivery dates. I think most of us are prepared to wait, but only when we know exactly where we stand in the first place. The little "fibs" do nothing to encourage trust.

From my last communication, I am estimating my doll will arrive sometime between 28th Sept and 9th November, but 6-12 weeks is a long leeway. From the recent block arrival, it looks like they wait until they have a certain amount to cast all at once, and perhaps that's why.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? [MENTION=1942]nancy_schroeder_ca[/MENTION] you seem to know a bit about them, what's your take?

 

With my two orders that are on the way they actually updated the status to On Shipping. A little while ago I wrote them and said my long received order was still showing item processing and they updated it. Maybe they are getting more organized. With all the orders going out at once, I almost wonder if they were waiting on boxes or something like that!

 

Well my Fall, Marek arrived safely today only 2 days after being shipped (which is pretty zippy for me), and arrived safe and whole. He has no faceup yet (or pants, shoes, a wig etc) but I am slowly getting him put together. I will hopefully be able to share him with ya'll within the week even if it's with temp eyes and wig.

 

Hi does anyone know what clothes fit the Junior girl body with the type A bust (the smallest)? She's so tiny compared to other SD girls! (>_<')

 

I have one with the B size bust arriving today. B is only a bit bigger than the A bust. I'll try to test some clothes but it may nit be today. I have three dolls to unpack and get settled!

 

[MENTION=68535]Ruva[/MENTION]: My Adrienne is on the Junior body with A bust, but I am afraid I'm not much direct help as far as listing specific brands/sellers because I sew the majority of my dolls' clothing. I do know that I was able to use her very successfully as a fitting model to do a sewing commission for a Dollmore Zaoll, so anything that fits Zaoll should fit AS Junior bodies well. There might be more info available about what fits Zaoll, since that doll has been around for a good while and a lot of people have them.

 

Does anyone know if April Story has re-merged with ClassyDoll? I had an order with ClassyDoll from June, recently sent them a Q&A, and it was answered by April Story. *confused*

April story is ClassyDoll I believe, they just reopened with a new store (like how they were once Ariadoll). I don't know much more than that though.

I asked for an update on my order. Next week is Korean Thanksgiving, so my Fall is being shipped a week after that (he's getting his faceup this week). So basically sometime during the first week of October. The holiday will probably delay a few orders I believe. So close, gah, I am getting excited.

Classy Doll is closing already (that didn't last long), so maybe Sculptor H is going back to work for April Story again. Anyway, as long as they're answering questions, I guess that's all that matters.

hello guys! im new here and i've gotten a Isyllia with a senior girl body on May, recently her nail broke on her left thumb and the right thumb on the nails seem to have this strains that it's gonna break too... i guess the nails are really fragile and im just too careless > u <;;;;;;

 

Hi, has anyone tried April Story's My Angel service?

 

Anyone getting kinda nervous about Aprilstory? I asked about my boy and they said that they are waiting for his head to get back from the face up artist. But it's been weeks now.

 

They can be slow especially with face ups, but they will come through.

 

I finally received an update on my gal. They told me she's at the face up stage now, so I can expect a shipping notice either next week or the week after, hopefully she arrives in good time.


EDIT : I'm getting the feeling the face ups are sent elsewhere to be done.

 

Most of their doll orders are delayed right now I believe. I think they just go so many orders (what with the sell) it's causing delays. I was first told my doll would be shipped last week, and now they say it's next week... X___X

 

I ordered my boy without a face-up earlier this year (during the sale) and I got him in good time. So my guess would be that the face-ups are delaying things. A face-up artist can only work so fast if they want the face-up to look nice ...

 

For the people who were worried about Classy Doll - that site is back up. And seeing as they have 4 new heads, and new resin colours we now know what April Story has been working on? I hope your orders will all arrive soon now

Thanks for the link Nancy. The price of the eyes is quite reasonable, but the shipping to Australia is a killer, more than twice the price of the eyes!!

 

I have a quick question. Does April Story offer layaway? I'm thinking of buying Lilian, but I haven't found any information as to how long they have their layaways.

 

Yes they do! They have layaway up to four months. Go to the information section on their website to see the details. I did layaway, and it went well!

 

Have you received your doll yet?

Checked on mine and found it won't be shipped this week after all. I have been told it's STILL at the face up artist...so much for them following up and keeping to shipping deadlines!!

Mine was supposed to ship last week, but he didn't. And that's when he was supposed to be shipped the week before that. I've pretty much given up asking and will just wait it out... as long as he's shipped out soon.

 

I understand how you feel. You just can't believe a word they say anymore!

It's very frustrating when they give you the run around, and it certainly gives one reason for not ordering from them again...no matter how much they discount their dolls!

In future I will stick to ordering from the artists/companies that have never let me down with regard to service and delivery dates.

 

Oh my gosh, that Adrian is just beautiful! I love his faceup, eyes, wig, the whole nine yards. You have an incredibly handsome boy @nancy_schroeder_ca.

I have been in here a few times and keep forgetting to post my Fall, Marek. He has had a faceup for a couple of weeks now and last night I put together a necklace for him and styled a temporary wig.

Just a few minutes ago I finally got my shipping notice!! My girl will be here in a week or so
I paid her off end of June (after a 4 month layaway) and had some contact with April Story why it took so long. Apparently the face-up alone took a whole month to be done

 

Faceups seem to be causing delays with a lot of companies. I got a shipping notice for my little Dasom also!

It's an easy out for them to blame the faceup artist for the delays, it's what is commonly known as passing the buck!! To me it's really poor management, they need to get their act together. The latest update I received was that my doll will be shipped on 11th Nov, needless to say, I shan't be holding my breath till then and I'll believe it when I see it's FINALLY on it's way.
