We'll be moving next month and I don't want to risk him with a reroute. I also want to order some custom clothes for him, and maybe a wig, but that will have to wait as well lol.

And I just got my shipping notice! Ahhhhhh!! They might even arrive during my birthday! (Technically it was the 9th, but I always treat myself to a whole week of whatever I feel like. Homemade pies, maybe a new top, movie night with friends, etc. it's my alternative to a party. AND MY DOLLS MIGHT BE PART OF IT OMG THIS TIMING IS GREAT.)

I just have one last payment to make in July for my whiteskin Fall and then my doll is paid off! =D Now I just need to get him some clothes, shoes, wig and eyes lol.

It looks like my boys will be coming home tonight Normally I'd have to wait until tomorrow's mail, but for some reason the woman at the P.O. called just to let me know they were here. Perhaps it's birthday magic for the last day of birthday week? Idk, but I'm pretty psyched!

Hello everyone! I've had my Fall for a little while now, but he's only recently gotten his wig+eyes+clothes.

The man hands are a little hard to work with (I remember someone from another thread calling April Story hands yaoi hands, hahaha.) And the faceup is INCREDIBLE, I'm so blown away by it. Looking forward to seeing everyone's dolls!

All the SD17 size guys seem to have yaoi hands, but April Story's wrist balls are inspired! Just take the hands off to dress him!

1. Hold wrist ball between thumb and finger

2. Pull hand out with other hand

3. Turn 90 degrees and set hook down in the grooves.

4. Take hand off the s-hook

Dress him and reverse the above procedure!

These are the ONLY hands I have seen that can be taken off so easily!

 

Actually, it's the same principle as with my newer Volks dolls. You can do the same with Yo-Midi (and Yo-SD, I guess) hands and feet and also with SD16 girl hands.

 

Omgosh Aprilstory sent me a shipping notice yesterday.. I ignored the tracking number since usually it takes a while before it shows up on the website... a few hours later I check and it turns out it's already been delivered (not to my house but family business)!!! And got shipped off a few days ago!! Very pleasant surprise! ^_^

Gonna do a box opening tomorrow with my friend (we ordered two bodies together!!) So excited!!

I am SOOOOO happy!! Aprilstory is reviving my #1 favorite sculpt from them Clover!!!! I was thinking about her for one of my characters but they discontinued her before I could get her.... and now they are selling her AT ALMOST HALF PRICE for the event!!!!! *o* I am going to save up all my money and get her!!! There's no waiting this time!!

 

I'm seriously considering getting Raven while the offers are on but I don't think I could justify dropping that much money at once so I may take him on layaway. My main concern is, will he still be at the discounted price for the layaway if it exceeds the event date? >w< Thank you ♥

 

@Cyador Yeah it was really fast!! Senior body will get Migidoll Ell and the junior body will get LUTS Howl! I tested both out with my SWITCH Hahwa head today and I really love the junior body..

A small review on the bodies:
Senior boy body: It's quite nice. Not very good sanding of seams but that can be fixed (if we have time lol).. lots of loose resin bits in the boxes but thankfully no chips or damage. I get what everyone means by yaoi hands now.. his hands are MASSIVE and super veiny.. compared them to my friend's SWITCH 65 boy body today and they're definitely smaller lol. Otherwise nice details on the hands and feet and he came strung reasonably well! He feels a decent weight and poses ok!

Junior boy body: Same thing about the seams and loose resin bits in the box. One of his joint holes (I can't recall if it's his hand or feet) is not big enough so when I try to hook his hand/foot on and turn the S hook so it slips inside (if that makes sense?) I have to force it a bit and scrape the resin. It was also strung VERY loosely while his arms were VERY tight. I tried restringing his legs twice but even after shortening the elastic quite a lot they're not as tight as I want them to be. (Disclaimer: this is my first time handling a bjd body but I've been watching videos and reading for years. I'll try again when his head comes but for now, he's staying in the box!)

Also I don't know if this is normal but when I look at his body under the light, there appear to be patches of skin that look a bit shiny (kinda a cross between water condensation and a smear of grease?). It's not too noticeable thankfully.

Overall we're really happy with the bodies! They weren't super expensive (1+1 event) so we're willing to overlook the small problems. They are really nicely sculpted though!

Edit: I have found a few little chips here and there since my review... they're small but still a bit disappointing to find on a brand new body.

 

Finally picked up my Julian at customs today! Yay! He's got no face-up, yet, so pics will have to wait, but I really, really like him. His sculpt is great - it kinda reminds me of a mix of Volks' Williams and Dollshe's Hound in a way. I was able to make him stand even though he's strung very loosely but it was a balancing act. I'll definitely restring him with stronger strings - the ones he came with in his legs are too thin - and he might benefit from hot-glue sueding his ankle joints, too. Depends on how much can be done with stringing and how the joints act when I put boots on him.

What I really, really like is that he came with separate CoAs for his head and body - one for each part - so that you can actually sell the head and body separately if you should want to do so and each of the new owners can get their own CoA.

iplehouse nYID Bianca (NS) in Classydoll aprilstory body. I'm planning to apply tinture on the body to make it more pink and have a better match with the iple head... We know their resin seems a lit pinkier in pictures... But the head does not match the body. She measures exactly 60 cm
(the other body is a Sadol love 60 in NS)

Hi, i just found out about this company and the event going on (from a post someone made on facebook). I couldn't resist and placed an order for New Adrian. This is the first time ordering from this company and he is a total impulse buy. I hope i didn't make a bad choice I just couldn't resist the price and Adrian is so gorgeous. I am mostly a huge fan of Luts boys. I am waiting on 2 Senior65 Luts at the moment. I hope they can share clothing since they are the same size.

 

Congrats with your order! Both of them And April Story senior boys fit perfectly in SD17 clothes. So if the same goes for Luts you should be fine - and otherwise it is easy to find clothes in that size

UnseenStars - I do love to see the pictures of the unpainted heads too!

Do April Story default face-ups look like the company photos?
Do April Story boy heads fit well on the Female Junior Body? (I can see New Spring as a lovely girl :P)

I can't help with the head fit question, but the faceups do look like the company photos. Orders wit faceups do take longer but it is worth the wait in my opinion.

 

Gabriel came in today! He's a New Spring senior boy. He's super loose, and can't stand right now, so body pics will have to come after I fix that

All the stuff he's wearing right now is borrowed. And the inside of his headcap broke, but it doesn't seem to effect anything. Lots of work to be done to turn him into his namesake!

Hi there! I'm planning on getting a Junior Boy Body, but I wasn't sure what size clothes I should get for him. Any help is greatly appreciated!

 

@laurelvere: I have yet to buy my boy anything, but on most of the sites I looked at, he was pretty close to SD13 size. So I would start there. And of course, you can check and see if the site you're ordering from has specific measurements for their SD13 clothes, then compare to the AprilStory site's measurements.

I think I got just another month to wait for his body, then I can work on getting his wings and such.

Well the price discount was too good to pass up on even though the wallet is bare, so I've gone and done it anyway and ordered an Ishyllia with face up on layaway. I noticed you can leave a note about whether you want adjustments to the face up which was good, I hate the black dots on the mouth, so I have asked for them not to be added.

I only just came across these dolls recently and was quite taken with a few of their sculpts . . . even the boys and they don't usually grab my attention at all! I also liked Rosella, Stella and Clover.

Love to see more spam on this thread . . . PLEASE.

 

I paid off my whiteskin fall on the 17th! Now the wait begins. I take it they don't start making the doll until it's fully paid off. I'm excited still though, even if he's coming blank!

I got also on layaway for the New Raven and Ishyllia on April Story's 1+1 Summer Gift Box Event. My wallet is pretty much crying at this point. I immediately fell in love with Raven, but when I saw Ishyllia, I knew that she was the perfect sculpt for my favorite OC. So I just had to have her as well.

 

Hi everyone! Glad to see people are still ordering these dolls I just put a Junior Girl body on layaway from someone here on the Marketplace and I'm so excited for her to come home! She'll be my second girl, and a rather unexpected one at that as the character she'll be has always been a boy up until now.

I'm a little bit nervous as I think the body is from before April Story changed some things around with their girl bodies and I hope she isn't too slim for the head I have waiting for her. Just crossing my fingers and hoping I can pay her in full by the end of next month.

 

Hi! Does anyone know if the elbow joint on the new Senior/Junior girl bodies is the same (or similar enough to use) as the old senior girl bodies? I lost one of the elbow joints for my girl I was thinking if the joints are the same I could ask April story if they had any spares I could purchase.

 

Isn't the old Senior girl body the same as the new Junior girl body? If so, I don't think they changed her design too drastically and for something as small as an elbow joint I think it's worth a shot to ask

I just took my first look at the April Story dolls because of a floating head available on the MP. I have to say, I've never been a fan of smiling dolls, but April Story girls, in particular, have stunning, natural smiles that I'm falling for. I'm really not in the market for another SD size girl, unfortunately, but I was wondering (as someone else asked in a previous post), what other doll skin tones are matches to April Story? Would Volks or Luts be close? From the website photos, it almost looks like they'd be close to the pinky DOD skin, but I know how monitors can mess up colors....

Too bad I have money tied up in a MNF Liria layaway or I might be tempted to jump in on the event.

 

I am looking for a body for my Volks DWC1 head and I was wondering if the Junior or Senior body would be okay to hybrid?

 

The April dolls are really beautiful but my favourite is Juliet :3 He is too handsome

 

derilan85 - I can say that April Story's NS is a decent match for Volks NS. I bought my April Story boy with the intention of using his body for my Volks Ryoma Sakamoto head. Proportion's fine and the resin match is good enough, too, not to bother me (and I'm a little picky when it comes to resin match. As for size, I got the Senior Boy Body and it looks good with the Ryoma head on it. The head's a size 8/9 so I guess a DWC01 head would be okay on both, the Junior and the Senior body proportion-wise, depending on whether you'd want the head to look larger or smaller. The Senior Boy Body has similar measurements als Volks SD17. SD17 clothes fit almost perfectly. So I'd guess the Junior Boy Body might work as replacement for an SD13 body?

So, I apparently never posted but I did go with a Fall on Layaway (ordered May 28th) and I'm wondering if anyone else who ordered in that window has received their boys or girls yet. I ordered without faceup, as my lovely roommate does BEAUTIFUL work and I wanted something a little different from April Story's lovely company faceups for the character.

Does anyone know if they do in fact wait to start production until you finish paying off the layaway? That might explain why I still don't have my boy. I finished paying him off July 10th, according to my notes. I poked gently at April Story inquiring as to when he MIGHT ship and they replied with a friendly "Maybe next week!" about two weeks ago.

Do they sometimes ship without saying anything? I've had that with other companies so I will feel a bit silly if I'm sitting and refreshing every day and he just shows up on my doorstep one day. @_@

 

I have two orders with makeup from the end of May that have not shipped. I have gotten emails when they shipped orders, but they don't always mark the order shipped on the site. My prior order which was received long ago still says item processing. They aren't good at estimating when things will ship!
