April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 2

Spring and fall are such gorgeous boys! And it's so awesome you make stuff for them I wish I could do that... But no I just keep buying new shoes and clothes even though I already have those for him @-@ I even considered buying another doll but I stopped myself... Crafting sounds like a good idea to wait for shipping~ Do you craft all their stuff?

 

It was so hard to pick sculpts from the new lineup! But I wanted a happy lil' cutie like Spring, and Fall seemed to fit best with him. Hehe, good for you, not buying another doll! That's probably the hardest part of buying - you get to look through pages of other pretties along the way. >.<

Thank you! Yes, I'll be making most of their stuff. I've purchased a lot for past dolls, but that just leaves me broke and wondering if what I bought really fits the character, ya know? Plus I can never get the really amazing (and expensive) clothing that I feel they deserve. The only thing holding me back is my lack of pattern drafting skills, but that'll be one of my college classes when I switch to Costume Design this fall. And for now I get by on modifying basic patterns I find online.

 

Just ordered the 1+1 for my friend and myself. /////// So excited! Got three boys on the way now (one is not mine haha).

Just wondering if anyone has a photo/could take a comparison photo of the AS senior boy body and AS junior boy body standing side by side?
Would really appreciate because we're buying them as a couple~

 

I second that request! My boys will just be friends, but I'm really curious to see how their bodies will look next to each other. (Especially b/c of the slight height difference.)

 

Okay, I'm starting to get a little PO-ed. I asked in a very polite way if they could add a head to my order, and I got shot down AGAIN. (Specifically, they said they don't sell heads on their own.) Why won't AS me do what everyone else is doing? ;__;

I replied that I wasn't looking for just a head by itself, but that I wanted to add a head to an already existing order. I also asked why I keep getting denied when so many others have been allowed to add heads. At least they're pretty fast with communication...

Edit: Apparently they JUST changed their policy, and there's nothing they can do for me. *weeps gently in the corner* Ah well. I guess I'm off to find a Stella look-alike somewhere else.

 

I just ordered a whiteskin Fall on a four month layaway. I've been wanting a SD boy for a while and the sale price was too much to resist! I'm happy that the senior boys fit SD17 clothes. I tend to buy him fabulous suits and other trendy outfits for him to wear.

 

Oh i'm sorry to hear that Deekkru. I think it must be because so many people have done so that they cannot make the heads fast enough. But you will get your two gorgeous boys! You can use the money for the head to buy extra things for them!

Congrats on starting your layaway elfinder! Fabulous and trendy suits sound like it will be amazing on him.

Thought I'd post my Snow (April Story Adrienne) now that I've got her back together. I just finished the restring and I had to take a pic even though it's a quick snapshot that makes her white resin look totally washed out under the super bright overhead lighting in my art room. So excited to have her put back together! She's definitely one of my absolute favorite dolls. Thanks to all who gave advice when I posted questions about restringing the single-piece torso! I did come up with one thing that made it even easier: I sewed the elastic ends together to make my loops, thus eliminating the bulky knots since she has such narrow stringing channels. It worked really well; I think I'm going to always do that from now on with all my dolls.

Grats on putting your Snow back together! She's gorgeous! That's a really smart idea to sew the elastics together, I should try that~

thedarkeststar13 - your girl is stunning! if you give her a lighter background the resin should look less washed out And - how do you like the posing now? Can she stand and sit well? Or does she lean over backwards?

I placed an order with April story and currently waiting for the body to arrive. I'm planning to make a hybrid out of it.

I'm waiting for my doll to arrive within April. The wait time is so hard. brrrrr....

 

I know just what you mean And the waiting only seems to get harder when they are due to arrive too! My order (3 dolls + a head) are on the plane to the Netherlands - either now or today....

I am very scared about the customs fee I might get....

Yes there are seams but no more than Fairyland or some other companies dolls show up with. And I do not mind them really, they are easily dealt with.

 

One more payment to be made for my Julian - can't wait! Anyone else here ordered a Julian from April Story and maybe has received him yet? If so, I'd LOVE to see pics!

 

I just stumbled upon April Story's site last night and saw they're having a 40% off sale? Seems too good to be true, I'm so tempted *Q*, I really like the New Fall and Julian sculpts.

The boys remind me of SWITCH dolls, does anyone else think that?

 

The price is great! And my dolls with makeup from the winter event were worth the long wait. They are wonderful! I'm deciding who to order next!

 

I received two boys for that good price and I love them to pieces! New Fall is gorgeous and so is Joshua (which I did not quess from the company face-up).

I took advantage of their 1+1 sale and chose Ishyllia and Fall. I ordered Ishyllia blank, but I just fell in love with Fall's default faceup so I ordered him with it. They're on a 4 month layaway, but I'm hoping to pay it off early.

I'm glad you posted a pic. It seem kinda hard to find people with AS dolls on here and tumblr...

 

That might be because the company went through 3 name changes in the past couple of years. And New Fall is has only been up from early march. Mine might be one of the first send out

Your Fall is gorgeous, btw. Faceups may be a huge part of a doll, but there's something special about a sculpt that looks so gorgeous blank.

 

Thank you. I have found that if I do not like the sculpt blanc no face-up will make me like the doll enough to keep it.

Ariadoll was the last name, but I can not remember the nane before that. You can find it on the forum if you want to know.

I don't have pictures yet as Anthony hasn't picked eyes yet, but I would say the faceup isvery true to the company pictures. Faceups do seem to delay delivery, but it is worth it for me!

So many gorgeous dolls to choose from, and oh man that event pricing! I think I want to get a Fall. Does anyone else have their Fall yet? I see Cyador's pretty boy, and I would love to see more of him and others. I'm wanting a boyfriend for my School C boy.

 

Super belated reply--- I'm so bad at staying caught up on discussion threads! Thank you--- and the restringing definitely solved the falling over backwards problem. When I first got her she stood and sat well, but after almost a year of playing with her a lot her strings were stretched and before I restrung her the one piece torso would just fall straight backwards and she'd land on her back when I'd try to sit her up--- and her legs would collapse under her when I'd try to stand her. I am probably going to do it again though now that I've got the knack of stringing this body, because I made her legs a little tighter than I meant to. She stands like a rock and sits very well but her knees don't bend very gracefully when she's seated. I also hot glue sueded her when I restrung her, and that helped her posing a lot too.

 

The event price is great, isn't it? If Anthony & Liam were included I'd definitely be getting them too. I loved New Cheon's smirk. Did anyone notice that they added new Adrienne, Lilian, and Rosella? I swear they weren't there before.

I think Adrienne might be calling to me...

 

Sorry people to jum into the conversation, do you know if April Story sells separately heads? I like two heads at the moment but no fund available to get the whole doll..

 

I just went and looked--- since my Adrienne is one of my very favorite dolls ever, I had to see new Adrienne! She's really pretty but I'm so so very happy I got the old version before they discontinued her. The change is very subtle, but overall the new version just doesn't look the same. She's cute but she's not MY girl, she's not the same face that made me HAVE to have an old Adrienne.
New Lilian and New Rosella are both great sculpts. In particular I think Lilian's new version is an improvement. I really like her. I'm not buying any resin right now, but I definitely hope to enjoy those two vicariously thru owner pics! =)

Hey, y'all! I just fell in love with the Lillian and Ishyllia sculpts (and that event price too!) But I was wondering if anyone knew how the newest senior girl body posed? Like, specifically the knees and elbows? Or does the junior body pose better? So many questions.

Dameda - Thank you, and they might bring out new dolls. They have every month lately. It might mean though that New Fall might only be available for the full price though.

Now I have a picture of my other boy, Joshua. He made him a new wig today. I hope I'll be able to give him a better face-up soon too

 

I am the happy owner of Julian. I bought it a year ago, but show it here for the first time. Make-up and the wig are made by me.

 

Wow all the AprilStorys here are gorgeous! Cyador's Joshua does have a sweet melting face, and agent, your Anthony is adorable. You should definitely put some freckles on. Miulina's Julian is super rad. You should show him off more often (/ouo)/

OK, I have to confess I've been going out of my way to avoid this thread as much as I can lately. Especially, ever since Cyador posted a picture of her gorgeous David, I've been terrified of losing my resolve of getting any more large dolls.

With the event period almost over, I was so close to being safe from not ordering a New Fall, which by now had become my favorite of their sculpts. This was after seeing Cyador's (sort of "accidently" dropping in on this thread), and later thinking how he might make quite a good Kurt Cobain, a project that's been in the back of my mind for a long time.

Thinking I might have finally found the right head, I still managed to stick to my resolve of resisting to buy any more bjd's over 52cms ... until April Story also released New Adrian, who seems even more unresistable for me than the previous version. Now I'm really not sure of anything anymore.
And, with the added pressure of needing to make a quick decision about ordering one or the other, or both of them , or if indeed either at all during the event, I've completely been going in circles for the last few days.

Don't know if it will help, or actually even make things more difficult, but also seeing the other lovely recent pictures here - now that I'm no longer trying to avoid this thread -can I make a request for more pictures of any April Story boys or girls, but especially Fall, Adrian and Adrienne?

 

Almost sure about ordering a New Adrian tonight or tomorrow morning. Still would love to see pictures of any Adriennes, Adrians and ("old" and New) Falls! Though I wouldn't mind seeing other sculpts either.

I did, Unseenstars! My order was Spring on the Junior body and Fall on the Senior body, both with company faceups.

Ugh, I haven't purchased a doll directly from the company since I started this hobby several years ago, and even then it was a blank head that arrived within weeks. At least it's giving me plenty of time to make wigs. (Or put off making wigs. Same thing for me.)
