April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 2

Mar 12, 2015

    1. I FINALLY got a tracking number. I had to open a problem with transaction with Paypal to get it. And according to the tracking number info, it was shipped yesterday. -_-

Well, when the body finally arrives I'll be able to take a picture of a 2014 AS female body, a 2018 Junior female body, and the FM 15 girl body. C:

    2. @Koma Oh, well, hopefully that's good news! Please show us pictures when it arrives, I'm dying to see the FM body, so I can compare to the AS body and see where they are going with their designs (both have been discontinued, right?)

    3. @IngieBee, the FM bodies will be discontinued when they sell out their current stock, so I think it's still available, but the AS bodies are no longer available.

    4. @Koma I can't find any pictures of the FM bodies. Could you post a link please?

Oh, no, they have since posted them. Unfortunately, I prefer the AS body. Hope they come up with something nice?!

    5. May I ask how long did wait to open a claim on Paypal? :( (the date you ordered to the date you filed a claim on Paypal I meant)

Because I wonder if I should do the same thing, since my question on their QnA has been not replied yet.... About 2-3 weeks already

    6. You have 180 days to file a claim through Paypal.

    7. I ordered in June, I opened a claim at the start of this month since they hadn't replied to my email in a month.

    8. Ugh, I hope it all works out, Koma!

    9. Good news, the FM15 girl I ordered arrived today! It's at my mom's house so I'll take pictures this weekend.

    10. I was able to pick up my package today, so I did a quick box opening HERE. The body comparisons will have to wait until this weekend though.

    11. NIce! @Koma I think I like the body in your pictures better than on the website. The chest is one of the more natural looking ones, which is nice. The head should be pretty easy to match if you get a chalk pastell in the right tone. Build it up slowly and it should work.

I just tried something different with a couple of my heads. I decided to match a darker body and tried to get a skin texture. I'm not finished yet but it does look promising :)

    12. @IngieBee, the body is much nicer looking in person.

That head isn't going on that body, that was just for anyone that might be curious about AS heads on the body. The body is for the spare Luts Delf Nina head I have, but the S hook is too big, so I have to get a new one.

    13. Well, I would have to wait another week if I were to attempt to get an FM body, and if they are still available, I may get one because I really like the natural shape of the breasts. I would have to give her something to wear that would show them off :D Maybe a slinky 30's dress? Thanks for the pictures, @Koma!

    14. I think AS does not bad as I thought since they shipped my order yesterday and replied me yesterday as well. Now it is at my local post office

    15. Some of these companies have no one who speaks English. Then they have to wait for a friend or son/daughter to come by and go through the questions. It's difficult :/

    16. The problem is:
AS promised the body will be shipped within 3-5 days after the payment confirm, because the body was made in May 2020 which means "in-stock and ready to ship".
After the payment was confirmed, many of us wait at least 1 months and more to get the body shipped. Some buyers have to wait more.
So, this is the reason make us more frustrated rather than the slow reply.

Also, as AS told me, their manager was absent so the QnA reply was slow.

    17. Yah, I can see that :) Sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was the only reason, LOL. There does seem to be a cultural difference in that in the west, I believe, it is a mantra to under promise and over deliver.

    18. Sorry, I don't think it is cultural difference in the west, since I am not western person :3nodding: it is just about how to operate a business.
Everyone, regardless where they are from, will feel frustrated when: the store goes under promise + very slow reply process + difficult to contact them.

    19. Well, I don't understand then, because it has happened with nearly every doll company I've followed/bought from. Thus I assume it must be a cultural thing. Maybe it's artists. I've never done business with artists before, so maybe I'm digging myself into a deeper hole by generalizing about artists now, LOL. It's really fun to put your foot in your mouth and sound like an idiot :D

    20. what do you mean "It's really fun to put your foot in your mouth and sound like an idiot " ?

It did not really happen with the companies that I have bought from.
Sometimes a company ships the doll late and also reply late, they always announce the delay news on SNS.
Agree with you about artist thing, because usually an artist usually does all the works by themselves. So, it was more understandable.
Studios/companies might have more people to take the tasks.

Because of this issue, I can see that most of companies always promised the shipment date later than the date they expected to ship out.
If they are able to shipped out exactly on the date they actually expected or earlier, they will gain more positive feedback than promising customers with short waiting time for the shipment.
And I think, this method is their business strategy which applies for all customers.

Also, I was born and raised in the country that the over delivery time and under promise happens alot, and no one cannot get frustrated. Some people get frustrated alot, some people just get frustrated a little and overcome.

    21. LOL, @iguen that I am being stupid, and generalizing about people, which is not a good or accurate thing to do. Like all _people__ are __something___ . Nobody likes to be generalized about. Like I'm a German, but I'm not a Nazi. Putting your foot in your mouth, well, that's the saying, but I think it is better to say, "you should put your foot in your mouth so you can't say any more stupid things," LOL.

    22. I see haha
Well, I am asian, and things like this happen alot in my country and most of people feel frustrated as well.
However, in my opinion, it is a little different from the west. Because it happens alot, so most of us get used to it, but it does not mean we are OK with it, it is just , again, most of us feel less frustrated and overcome with this issue faster than others.

    23. Yes, it pays to be patient in this hobby and not "freak out" when things take longer than expected. I have a mixed up order right now that is in it's 13th month! I don't know what happened, they don't say, I know it's a mess up, but whos I don't know. The store or the manufacturer?? Anyway, I've been in contact with the store for over 6 months, and I only contacted them after 5 or 6 months because we had the virus hit the world, so I figured everything was going to be slow. I know there was a mixup with my order though because everyone else has been getting their orders on time or even faster. Plus some of their orders were the same as mine, so, yah! LOL. I'm a little frustrated, but I know I'll get my dolls in the end because I do believe they're both good people and good companies :)

    24. Well apparently miracles do happen and I got a tracking number and an apology by email yesterday and the tracking started to work today. Fingers crossed I’ll get my package soon and in good condition.

    25. Maybe they got more order for these bodies than they had in stock and decided to cast more? Since some people got their orders shipped pretty quickly, but some of us had to wait. :/

    26. Hi, are Classy Doll bodies still available from April Story? Or am I getting them confused with a different company?

    27. Congratulations @Emma DD White , I'm glad it worked out!

      Yah, maybe @Koma ??

@Arekushia, I believe the Classy body was discontinued a long time ago. I can still find the April story body on the site, and it acts as if I could buy one still, though they're supposed to be out of them??

      • x 1
    28. Thanks for the info!:) Can you share the link? I will write to them and ask.

    29. Yeah that confused me too! My best guess is that they will only bring out the bodies (that doesn't sound weird) for special events such as the 1+1 event they just started. If it stays up after event end then I have no clue!

    30. @IngieBee they used to offer layaway. I don't know about now.

      I want a Jelly....Dx

    31. Thanks for the link! Sorry I'm not sure about the layaway.

      • x 1
    32. I don't know :-/ because I see that they will stop the sale when the supplies last :-/

Also, maybe they just forget to update the website about the body is out-stock or they decided to make more bodies without any notice ? :))

    33. Hi! Sorry if this is a silly question or in the wrong place. I’ve been away from the hobby for a while and just got back.

Does anyone know if April Story only offers the two resin colors (white and normal) currently listed on their site? I’ve seen a few April Story dolls floating around in other shades that I really like and would prefer. I’m not sure if they use to offer these colors and stopped or if they just aren’t offering them right now because of the event.

    34. @streetsatdusk, they used to offer tan before with the previous owners. But stopped offering it a couple of years ago. The new/current owners only offer the normal and white skin. Though I don't know if they have plans to offer tan in the future.

    35. Drat! I was afraid something like that might be the case. Thank you for your help!

    36. I asked them during their previous 1+1 event and then they said they didn't offer layaway.. that's why I couldn't participate in their last event :(

    37. Well.. My order came. Got what I ordered so that's fine. But. The pieces don't fit together. I luckily needed just one part of the arms and they fit together with my old arms. But if I really would need the whole arm I would've gotten arms I couldn't use. Hope the rest of you get a bit better quality.

    38. A new discussion thread: Part 3 !

      :)
