April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 3

I have an AS13 Diana and I also thought her head looks kinda small (even though all my other SD dolls are 8-9 wig size too). Is the senior girl body an older sculpt? I thought she would be much taller than the Junior girl! Or is all that height difference in the head size?
I love the look of the AS13 sculpt personally but I think the FM body also looks nice.

 

Hi guys! I'm a bit confused on the current event? Was Jelly only until the end of September?

 

AS's new event has me tempted to pick up some bodies for floating heads, but I'm concerned - has the posing ability for the AS17 body any since 2015? I love the aesthetic, but I always had such a hard time getting my Classic boy body to stand I'm not sure if I want to try again.

 

I have an April Story Clover head, and with the current event I was thinking if getting her an AS16 body. How white is the white skin colour? Does it have a slight yellow look?

 

@Meyneth I don’t have any other white skin dolls to compare her with, but my girl is VERY white. Her white resin shoes are paper white but they’re not a whole lot whiter than her body. I don’t have any real comparison pictures right now, but this is a pic I took outdoors this summer:

 

I have a few questions. Is Aprilstory better these days? As the classic 17 body is 70% off is it worth spending $100 more for the other body?

I also have the same question..... has anyone ordered from them since they switched over to Flora Monkey after that disaster some time ago? I'm interested in their 70% off sale but it seems to good to be true?!

 

Here’s my take: After showing up on my porch with no shipping notification, my doll came with the wrong bust size and after months of asking them to send the right size I finally gave up. She’s very pretty but poorly engineered and the resin doesn’t seem to be the best quality. You get what you pay for. That said, I do really like her.

 

Hmmm, so how screwed do you guys think I am for trying out the 70% sale? xD They were responding to me and now that it is the weekend, I doubt they will write on to me or anyone again until Monday.

I guess if I don't get a shipping notice by Wednesday of next week, I may request a refund or something. I don't want to wait a half a year or so to get something when they said it was IN STOCK. I had bought extra heel legs with my girl body too and asked if they were in stock. They said yes. I hope they hold up their end of the deal.

 

Ramendoodles and I discussed our experiences a bit over in the waiting room, among others. I cant believe you still haven't gotten your bust.

My transaction ended ok, even if it did take a few months to get there (custom order, not in-stock). I sort of got the vibe that if you ordered a-la-carte and there were no issues, everything was fine. It's only if you have issues, or want something weird, that things can get funky.

Just be aware April story/flora monkey is a company that goes "it'll be ready Monday" and Monday comes and goes... "was my parcel shipped?" "It'll be shipped thursday" and thursday comes and goes... and so on. Don't be afraid to call them on it, and if you feel you've waited way too long to something "in stock" to ship, don't be afraid to let them know and/or open a dispute. I think I got assertive enough with them that they stopped trying to pull that on me I would not touch "ready to ship in 1-3 days" with a 6-foot pole, but im also not bothered by wait times.

With all that said... I'll kick around the idea of buying another body LOL. Under $200 is a good price and I have so many floating heads... I do like their aesthetics, and im not off-put enough by the posability of the one I have to not get another. He is difficult to get to stand (wobbly ankles, small feet), but im not afraid to modify for better results at this point. I'm also looking at a boy body, which feels "safer" than the girl body... fewer option parts to bungle up. I know heel feet and busts were both common complaints, over in the waiting room.

Ymmv, but im a glutton for punishment and cheap dolls,, so maybe AS/FM and I will have another go-'round

 

@Xila - I have read through waiting room and this discussion thread/err previous ones. I know they're pretty bad. I am just gambling because a body for $130-$150 is damn tempting when I have floating heads like you said.

If I don't get a tracking number by Wednesday, I will open a dispute. I don't really want to wait around when they said 1-3 business days. I ordered yesterday.

@Koma May i ask what the ASD body is? I haven't seen that variation with the mobility thigh and shape of the body!

I only own the Classydoll Body that they carried over.

OH, that would make sense. LOL I am asking because it seems April Story has gone through many variation of bodies I am not aware of. Like I only found out recently that they took in Classydoll body and sold their bodies for awhile until discontinued. I love the Classydoll body look and not the April Story ones. Flora Monkey bodies look a bit better to me so I am trying it out on the sale.

I hope they come through but that's a gamble I was willing to take. lol

 

Wow! How many style of bodies did they have? How is this body in your opinion? I am quite intrigued to find this body secondhand somehow. lol Was this one only in the short height or was there one in a taller height like they have now?

I used to own 3 of the AS16 but hated them so sold them. I now own 3 of the Classydoll, 2 56cm and 1 63cm.

 

Is it two piece torso or one? I can't quite tell from your photos on Flickr either.

I mean the classydoll bodies don't pose well either but here I am with 3 of them. XDDD

 

I bought the FM15 body. I couldn't resist. I have a character I've long thought to shell, but only if I happened across her parts 'cheaply'. With the pretty heel legs addon and shipping to Canada this came in under $225 USD. I had a hard time finding much info on the body itself (but thank you @Koma for the pics!), but for that price I will dye or mod whatever I need to to make her functional. I really like the shape of her belly and that slightly pigeon-toed stance will be perfect for the character.

I will admit that edging in on 18 months waiting for a Dollshe guy had an effect on my itchy finger. Even if this body takes longer than quoted--and I fully expect it to, three days is almost too fast--it feels almost decadent to order something and expect it in less than a year.

Don't make me eat those words, April Story!

If they say they have these dolls on hand, they should ship it right out. If they promise 1-3 days, then I say they need to stick to it. Otherwise, I am fine with doll companies who say it takes 60-90 business days to take longer because issues with manufacturing can occur.

IDK, I just don't want the run around but I did want to give it a try. lol

Nonetheless, I hope the head you are hybriding fits well and you get your body sooner than later.

 

Oh I fully agree. It’s a damn high claim to make, and they have no business putting it out there if they know they won’t fulfill it. I don’t actually care how long dolls take so long as the given quotes are honest so people can make an educated decision. A little leeway for errors and the unexpected is easily forgivable. Lying isn’t. I think 3-4 months will be my max for this order before I reach out to PayPal. Hopefully the body comes much sooner, but that would be my breaking point.

And thanks, I haven’t fully decided on a head yet but I have my eye on a few.

 

Yeah. I know what I am getting myself into so if I don't get a tracking number in the next few days, I'll be hoping for a refund. I don't mind waiting either but if something is in stock, then it shouldn't take long to ship. I've gotten stuff in stock from DDE and even Luts and ships in a matter of hours or days! Stock means stock, pre-order means pre-order dangit! lol

Doesn't PayPal only have 3-4 month max period for claims anyway? I've had DZ take a year but that's typical and I'm okay with that wait. Done it a few times NGL. XD

 

I believe PayPal gives you 180 days of purchase protection. But yeah, agreed, it’s either in stock or it’s not! Holding them to account is a good thing. I suppose if enough people did that they might think twice about what they put on their sale page.

 

Oh okay! So that's 3 months anyhow! I hope you'll get yours soon too. Here is to us hoping things go smoothly. LOL

 

Does someone know which head sculpt is on the AS 16 Girl Body on the April Story website? I keep trying to figure that out. Is it Mia?

Definitely agree! Their bodies may not be the best but hell, some heads be getting bodies man. Lol

With that said, my order has landed in the USA and should be delivered this week if customs doesn't get held up.

 

I received my dolls. I posted over in the waiting room. I'm quite happy with my order and experience this time around.

I hope they step up the game for you guys. I feel bad I got mine so fast when a lot have been struggling to get things right by them.

Was it something they claimed was in stock, @eichispee ? I would contact them if that were the case, get a status report

 

As IngieBee said, DO BUG THEM if it is the in stock order. That's what I did.

Happy new year!! The last thing I did wih 2020 was immediately have a problem with my April Story order LOL. The website didn't load correctly right as I was checking out... the payment went through, and I have a receipt from PayPal, but not a confirmation from April Story. Not their fault, but I was like.... of course. that would happen. I posted on the QnA to confirm they got the order, but no response as of yet. Off to send an email, too, maybe

 

Ugh @Xila I'm so glad 2020 is dead, and I am fervently optimistic about 2021. Even if there is little cause to be, LOL

It's teeechnically been 3 days, but it's also a weekend, so I'll give April story Monday, too, before I ramp up the poking. Looks like nobody on the QnA got answers either since I asked, it isn't just me who's waiting.

 

I noticed they do not talk from Friday through Sundayish. They are a day ahead of us so hopefully they get to it. I see that they have some left unanswered posts from before so IDK what is going on with those.

 

They did get back to me! They said my order did go through and will ship on the 8th... not 1-3 days but at least we're communicating.

 

WOOHOO! You better poke them again on the 8th if you don't hear anything. You probably won't get an answer until the following week. But demand a tracking number. lol Because it seems like they forget to update that or let their customers know.

Just to update everyone, still didn't get a response from them or any update on my order... I have sent them another email and if they don't respond to this one I guess I'll have to open a Paypal case or something.... This is second time I've had problem with them and I think in the future I'm not going to order with them again....

Hi! Does anyone know if April Story's normal matches well with Switch normal resin? I am interested in their FM 17 boy body.

 

@mirrorcle_world I have a body that I got second hand that was made prior to the company change and it's a good match to a 2016 Switch head I have. I don't remember the year the body was made though.

 

I did get a response! I'm glad - it took like 5 days. Now to just settle in and wait. Hopefully it won't take too long... I'm not even sure if the resin is going to work for the hybrid I'm trying.

 

Just wanted to pop in with an update to my Hannah I got her a new wig and she is even more fabulous than she was!
