April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 2

I wonder why the website currently says she is 60cm? Also there seems to be a new high heel foot with an integrated shoe. Was that always so?

 

I expect the body probably measures 60cm without a head. The high heel foot comes with white plastic shoes that do come off.

 

I'm not sure how much the measurements changed in the past years ... the new one might be shorter.

 

That is good to know about the shoes because I hate them....

 

Does anyone know if the NS or WS is easier to resin match? Or does anyone have comparisons of the senior + junior body side-by-side? I want a new body for Clover head but I'm not sure what companies are a good match

People are having difficulty getting their items and contacting them after making payment, I would read this before thinking of ordering one from them

If you want an April Story doll, I would try to get one secondhand, and not from them direct

 

Oh dear. I was just curious because I saw that their site was still active even though they said they'd stop taking orders after November. I guess people have started filing Paypal claims already?

I do wonder which company they sold their sculpt lineup to though. I was interested in some of them (doll budget is maxed out already so wouldn't have bought anyway), so I hope they resurface with another company some day.

I've read a worrying post spreaded on IG about someone that lost a around $500 since his order from April Story was never shipped out, company sent a tracking that never worked and atm doens't reply to mails.
Guess that untill some good news popping out better to don't buy from the companty

not sure if you've been updated but please disregard the “notice” from the website. the Korean website apparently has a completely different excuse for not sending out the orders, and whats more is they still have zero communication to people asking about their orders. its extremely shady so file a claim if you have and order waiting and PLEASE don't order from them!

Heya. I have an April Story SD head coming in, in NS. I was wondering if anyone knew any good resin matches? It's a shame about April Story going down but I was curious if anyone had any ideas ^w^ If not I'll just have to hunt down an AS body haha!

 

Volks NS is a decent match. I had a Volks head on my April Story body before I sold it, and it looked alright. Couldn't really see any difference.

It's been a while since I got my NS bodies, but LUTS wasn't too bad a match either. I think AS was just a smidge pinker.

 

Hmm! I found a good comparison photo the other day and I was thinking Luts might also be a decent option and was wondering if a faceup could help mellow it out! Thank you for your help too ^w^

For some reason I cant find my actual resin comparison pic, but theres only a smidge of difference between them, when the lighting is right. Otherwise my particular batches are spot-on

Well, I wasn't going to fall into any "holiday" sales this year but I couldn't pass up the 1+1 deal so I've ordered Stella and Diana. I'm excited as these will be my first dolls from AS (I had wanted to order in the past but things never worked out for me)

 

I need another doll like I need another hole in my head, but Hannah is just adorable I read through most of this thread and the previous one, there hasn't been a whole lot of talk about what fits the Senior Girl body. I've compared measurements between Volks SD16 and the Senior body, it looks like April Story is a bit thinner up top but wider at the hips and taller, so I'm not exactly sure what size clothes she would take. I also saw mention that SD16 heel shoes are too small for the heel feet? Can any current owners confirm/deny? Is there anything else about her that I should consider before smashing that order button?

 

T_T wish I had the money to get the Senior girl body right now. It is such a good deal. I wanted this body, but scrubbed it off my wish list after AS disappeared. Though, I feel bad people are still waiting for things, and it's so out of the blue, suddenly coming back, and with a sale... makes me a little nervous. I hope items start arriving as promised.

 

@Datsuki except it's been their MO for years now. Possibly because the owner was sick? I have no idea, but yah, I did get my doll after ordering during a store closing sale (sometimes I wonder if they're totally using the wrong words = lost in translation?)

 

Oh really? I know they had a closing down sale a year ago or something, but I'm not familiar beyond that. It's kind of hard to find information on this. Though now I have looked it up, I do find it a little weird they are offering the exact same 3 offers as they did for the closing down sale. Is everything just... always on sale?

Using some of the old sales that were already set up for the website may have been the fastest way for the new owner to get started. People also get used to repetitive sales and wait for them.

I'd like another baby but this is not the time to spend $900 to get one!

 

Maybe a doll GO from them? I was thnking about it myself since I want to get another junior male body. xD;

 

I am still owned two full SD's I ordered from 2018. I never received a refund nor the dolls and April-story stopped replying. I have emailed you at the given information below.

I would still advise people to proceed with caution!!! Please do not get scammed like I did out of $500!

I don't believe anything until those of us who ordered receive refunds or the dolls we ordered.

Just got my shipping notice for the 1+1 event! I ordered on 12-9-19 that's just 10 days!!! That is a record shipping time from any company I've bought from (other than Junky Spot for an in stock doll). I'm very excited to see how they turn out (quality, packaging, etc)

Hannah had always been one of my favorites, but I think Betty, with her smaller eyes would look better with my collection.... But then I kind of have my realistic dolls and my more dolly dolls, where Hannah would fit in just fine. Luckily, since I have no $$, I don't need to decide, LOL

I received a shipping notice for my long awaited order (late 2017) on the 19th.
And according to the tracking information they sent me as well, it has already arrived in my country this morning!

Mine has a similar hairstyle in brown, but due to a very busy 1.5 years of work on my new house and moving, I still haven't gotten around to giving her a face-up, poor gir. Though I have at least made her several items of clothing...
Soon after Samantha arrives I really must make time to work on them and introduce them here, too.

 

Mine fit into the clothes I've gotten from AC. One being a made outfit, I'm not sure about anything more fitted though.

Oh, @RamenDoodles , I do have a Volks sd16 suit I bought for my April story sd16 hybrid that seems to fit perfectly. In this picture, she is the seated one with the grey suit on. I hope that gives you an idea

Chicago customs has kept my dolls hostage since Dec 21st!

 

They can be slow this time of year. Poor dolls!

Customs won't wake up until Monday, and the workers are probably in party mode through New Years I hate to say it but it seems to me Chicago is one of the slowest customs in the USA. But at this time of year, it's bad everywhere! Hope they push it through tomorrow!!! (Fingers crossed)

 

Well, I just ordered a white skin Hannah! I've never had a white skin doll before, so I'm pretty excited. Now I gotta figure out who I'm going to send her head off to for faceup... because I'm not confident in my faceup skills at all Can't wait for her to come home!

Hallo, what about body posing in comparison with IMPLdoll? Anybody with both brands experience ?

 

My only complaint with April Story is the sway back. They have an arched back when at rest. They are also kicky/slippery. This can be fixed with a bit of hot glue sueding. Then they behave pretty well. I only have the female body though, so that is what I am talking about here. AS bodies are very feminine, and smaller/thinner than Impldoll with more narrow shoulders.

Impldoll bodies -star SGB and idol are a little stiff but super easy to pose, especially for their size. But you do have to work at making them look relaxed. They won't just plop down in a chair all relaxed. AS will. Personally, I think it is an aesthetics issue as these bodies are at opposite sides of the spectrum IMO. Soft and sweet vs solid, maybe warrior, strong. But I would have to give impl the posing award, and their MGB is super expressive, but has Overly wide shoulders.

Hope that helps. I've learned there are seldom purely better bodies except when comparing to something that anything would be better against, LOL - But rather it's give and take. You usually get this at the cost of that. It's aesthetics vs poseability or soft vs hard, etc... That's what makes this hobby so nefarious. I think I find something I love, then I want something different, LOL.

 

IngieBee, thank you very much. I "need" one more female body, have 1 damaged DollShe (posing very badly because of damage on her poor body) and would like to have something like slim as Dollstown, but this body is too high.
I decide between IMPL and April, sale price for April is very tempting.
My new girl is supposed be gipsy dancer, Rainmanking Su head, MGB body was my choosing one, but somebody noted that there is no small bust for this body.
So some hard choices in front of me at the end of the year

 

Ohh I really hope this company is truly getting back on their feet. I'd love to order one of their bigger boy bodies. I sold one a couple years ago and haven't found a good replacement so I'm thinking I'll have to get one again. As floppy as the big boys are, it's a nice body..
