He doesn't seem to have any design issues, so it's most likely the tension. @$avage a doll that big and heavy with only 3mm string, it must have caused real problems!

@AlisonVonderland I just acquired AD Yul in a trade, and now I see what you mean about her stringing pattern. Very odd. I plan to restring her as well.

 

Haha, yeah, Yul works well enough if you string her with 1 piece for the body and 1 for the arms, but you cannot do the A configuration, you have to use the X (crossed through the hips) or her legs go crazy if you try to sit her down.

 

@Alewife to be honest inner channel of the very first Idealian edition was very small, i mean there where a lot of resin insider shoulder and lower legs, that's made it work such big BJD with 3mm strings i guess. plus it was brain casted in resin instead of S hook that surely helped even more tension. I remember that my Photon was very heavy

I got my shipping notice! My boy is on his way! I will be getting resin samples too and AD said they sent 5mm string for me. YAY!!
So he can do traditional A stringing but the girl needs hip string crossed. Gotcha. Good to know!

He arrived yesterday! He was in a large box with another doll, both were unstrung but very well packaged and neatly so. He had put in 5mm strings in a flesh tone for me, very cool! I had to get a bigger S Hook for the neck though, and in the end I had to hook it inside the head because the neck hole is that big. I took tons of super bad pictures as I was racing against my battery which was quickly dying.
I think I'll put up a review later but for now, some details:

I strung him traditionally, and without sueding he poses super well. He is BIG. His musculature, I think, is gorgeous. He is well shaped and I love the detailing. His feet will cause some seizures as they are short and fat like hobbit feet. I had to stick him in a pair of boots meant for the 90cm AoD boys. Not ideal, but they'll do. His jointed hands are beautiful but he has long fingernails which MIGHT work for my magic user and they are BIG. Even the old Angelsdoll company had a thing with too-big of hands and that hasn't changed. I may switch them out later with some Impldoll Idol jointed hands. Aside from that, they pose well and look great!

I am loathe now to reduce him at all, but I still may... just a bit. He looks less like he's all leg in real life and instead seems very balanced. He's still just too tall unless I change the height of the character and to be honest, I'd been hemming and hawing about that anyway. While of a similar size to Glenn, he may just have to be taller. Then I'd be OK with his current height.

He is not delicate, he's healthy and robust. He poses very well and I assume even better when I get the glue on. I like his sculpt a lot but I will say I think it looks even better in light tan.That would not have suited my boy though, which is too bad. I was able to redress him in half of his original outfit- the top still worked (taken from a Miro doll 68cm buff body) but the pants did not. He now wears the huge Idol pants I've been holding onto for years with no one big enough to wear them. They fit well but they are high waters, so beware of that. Fine when tucked into boots and capris when not. Did I mention he was big? And tall?

He wears 12mm eyes easily enough but YMMV depending on what you want them to look like. My boy has gold eyes, so I grabbed the ones most readily available but I doubt he'll keep them. he will NOT be keeping that god-awful wig! Garf! But it was what I had that was dark and nearby. Also forgot to mention, he has little joint crescents, like Iplehouse does, to fill in the large gaps at wrist and ankle. I couldn't be bothered putting them in at the moment, but he does come with them!

@chalyss Wow i've spotted pics also on flickr and i like body sculpt soooo much, thru i really don't like that he came unstrunged cause company must send their dolls with boxes, i noticed that he came not just unstrunged but without box also.
Anyway feet size is something that company should think to change, surely you can siand it down but is an hard work, i did once with old massive female AngelsDoll body it took me almost 3 days...

 

Yeah, I was thinking his feet may need to be sanded to fit anything. I'd hate to cuz they're so cute! They're like boy versions of IH SID feet- fat little things. Kawaii! Anyway, practicality wins out over cuteness in this case and I will look either for replacements or sand them. I HAVE some old massive girl feet. If I could find them again they might just work out. His feet aren't long but wide. I've already mentioned to him he may want to look at that as it will cause grief.

@$abbatha, sorry to say that, as of yet, there are no static hands made for the boys at all it seems. But new products will be turned out soon and I think some may be included there. Also, you may just want some Impl hands anyway as the AD hands are HUUUGE. I wanna get some Impl hands and feet just to see. But no, no special shipping box and unassembled. BUT I thought it a nice touch to include the 5mm string with a flesh tone to it. He also sent 3mm string for the girl in the box too... and I used that for his arms. I think maybe I don't want 3mm for the arms but that 5mm might be too much. I am so low on string I have nothing left to check with, so soon I'll play with that and find out.

 

@chalyss congratulations, he's gorgeous! I agree with you, once I saw him in person I was a little reluctant to start sawing his legs off. I may think about that for a while. I'm definitely going to do something about the feet though. Otherwise I'd better learn how to make shoes!

I think I'll just let him be 6'4" in my scale... that's fine with me, he was 6'4" in another incarnation and I've been playing with the idea of putting him back at that.... so he is! YAY! Solved!

I agree he is verrrry pretty! I don't regret this one a bit!

No regrets here either. And I think like you, I may just have to include a 6-1/2 foot giant in my lineup.

Regarding the static hands-- did they say that the jointed hands were only going to be included with the first release? So hopefully that means they're planning to make static hands. I wonder if he's working on a new sculpt, or if he's just going to get all the Evans out first?

 

@Alewife, I recall the promotional banner saying free jointed hands with the release of Evan, though I didn't realize that meant no static hands at all. I imagine he'll end up making static hands eventually, as jointed ones would be too expensive to add to every order, I think. As for what he's got cooking right now, also unsure. He did say more sizes would be introduced but it does seem like he's getting the Evan orders out first.

@$abbatha, the girI ordered, the Lucia, came strung and I am struggling to remember if she had her own special box. Wait, I have pics. Yes, she came strung and in a simple but handsome dark blue box:

The second girl came with the Evan and neither was strung but everything was included, including magnets. I am not terribly upset about Evan coming as he did- I'm sure it saved a ton on shipping and then I'd have to figure out where to store such a darn big box. I think he did the unstrung thing because he couldn't get orders out fast enough if he took the time to string them all. For some though, it's necessary. For me it was not. BUT I fully understand wanting a storage box and not wanting the hassle of stringing such a big boy together. I will tell everyone this: you'l need the full length of the cord he sends. Tie it off at the top, there will be no remaining. At least that made it easy. The arms are a different matter. And I asked specifically for 5mm string. I do believe Alewife got hers with too thin of string, so I made a special request.

At this point, you may wish to wait a bit and see what changes are made and what else is offered. Kind of like not downloading a brand new OS so they have time to fix the bugs, ya know? Give it a bit and see what happens.

 

I got the impression that the unassembled thing was temporary to allow him to catch up. I hope that's the case, since I like getting a doll box too. We shall see!

 

I thought so too- it's also possible he just doesn't yet have a box big enough for the boy yet. But I see and agree with your points @$abbatha! I have to admit one of the reasons I REALLY wanted this Evan debut was for free jointed hands and the perma 30% off coupon that came with him.

 

We'll see hopefully it doesn't take too much time to have Evan with his own box!

OK I found shoes! The Volks Masamune boots DO fit! Which sucks cuz now I have to shell out a LOT of money for his shoes. Dangit!

I just got one not too long ago, and haven't really had time to play with her yet. She's a pretty, almost chubby shape. She seems to pose quite well. Sorry I can't give you a more specific review yet @Dreadfulme !

Angelsdoll Lucia

More pics of her in that album, but I love the cute little figure! I have 2 now. She's short, very 58-60cm, but cute! She should be restrung in the traditional manner but with strings crossed in the pelvis to the legs. I think she poses a bit better that way than the way she comes strung, which looks confusing but is serviceable enough. I also ignored the magnets in her hips in the second body- I don't feel they do any good but add more confusion. (Note: I sanded down her nipples.)

 

@chalyss Thank you soooo much!!! This is a big help! I am having some custom heads made and need a nice curvy body. I also see Angelsdoll has several colors. I wonder if they will allow me to buy the body in tan or violet hmmm ....

 

Happy to help! I am enjoying my Angelsdolls a lot! Their tan is gorrrrgeous! A light caramel color, very pretty! Oh, I have samples:

The violet is a really interesting color that is hard to pinpoint- a brown/violet/grey. I definitely want a doll in it at some point!

Me too! They have a pic of a whole Lucia head in it on their site but I still can't quite 'see' it. I will need my own full doll! NEEEED!

 

Seems that violet color is pretty close to rosy brown that Withdoll was used to offer a bit of time ago

$abbatha own a Cynthia in the same violet color, not such a great shading since is actually very dark a mix between violet and tan, pretty dark and matt

Eww! "Something rotten" is not a pretty sounding color at all! For what I am thinking, which is another demon, it might work. But... ew!
