Most people recommend Aleene's Tacky glue for eyelashes. It is thicker than Elmers so it will hold faster.

even without a faceup, I was completely in love with her, but now that she's all painted up and perfect (Thank you, Adrenaline Addiction!) I'm absolutely in love.

Hello, Angell Studio owners!
I don't have an AS doll, but there's one I can't get out of my head, so I've been doing research and trying to figure out if a doll that big would even be fun. My big question is posability.

I saw a video where someone reviewed a Hua Xi body, and he seemed to be pretty well able to hold poses, even if he did not want to stand alone.

Does anyone know if Lan Ling is on the same body as Hua Xi? They both list "70cm muscle male body," so is that actually the same thing with a different head sculpt?

For bonus points, does anyone own a doll with that body and want to talk about how much they like, or don't like, the articulation?

Well, almost. I changed the legs from the high-heel feet that it comes with to a jointed ankle, so I've got different shoes coming with her.

@ArvenSS --Oh! Thank you so much for posting a Lan Ling!!! I haven't seen any other photos than the official ones before.

 

OMG snap!! I got the ankle jointed foot aswell! I think it gives you more options for shoes! I got the flat caramel shoes. What shoes you get?? You getting the dress and all??

 

I didn't like the idea of her feet stuck in heels, it just looks uncomfortable. I don't want to think "ow" when I look at my dolls

I got the dress, eyes and hair as pictured on the sales page. The shoes I ordered are the Antique silver shoes, I figured they'd match the dress reasonably well.

I'm not quite sure of the shoes you've mentioned, are they these -- Idyllic Flat heel shoes?

 

Joining the Angell Studio team! I've seen a picture of Lan(g)Lings Europe face-up head, instantly fell in love and was kind of sad they don't sell his head separately... so, being bold, I messaged AS and asked if they'd sell the head alone, and well, they do Plus 12% discount, yay!
I have NO idea though what AS solid pink matches to. Any ideas?

 

Not sure what they match (my girl is purple) but AS does do custom colours, so if you were to get him a body first, and send them either the colour of the body as a paint swatch or a spare hand, they could make it match.

 

I'm getting the head first since I have no idea what body I will get him I jut hope I can find a semi-matching body... but I can still airbrush the head if it doesn't match, in the end.

 

That's pretty fair.. out of curiosity, do you have a character for him?

 

I do, yes its my third try to shell him now into a doll; first was a Ringdoll Kay (too 'anime') and second was a Ringdoll Dracula (too mature/grumpy), so I hope the head works out for what I have in mind. I will need to mod him a bit though, I'm not a big fan of his long eyes...

 

Sounds like real dedication to the character. I hope this one works out!

 

I hope so too! The character behind him is one of my oldest, and I never had a really set image for him in my mind.. .that makes it hard to find the right head. But I'm having a good feeling now We'll see.

By the way, its good to know angell studio is doing custom colors, I wasn't aware of that. but that makes it easier to find a sister for my drow

That's the first in-hand picture I've seen of Lan Ling. I'm getting more and more tempted to buy one... (and to do the faceup myself, mwa ha ha! He could cosplay as one of my characters and everything.)

and I agree with you there, i'd feel the same if I saw their feet in that constant shape, but thats just me! can flat feet not fit into high heel shoes?

Those are the shoes i've mentioned! their absolutely adorable and great quality too!

 

Some flat feet will fit some heeled shoes, but sometimes not the high heeled shoes. And some heeled shoes will look odd on flat feet.

 

Valid point! It makes sense! considering the shape of the heeled foot is made especially to fit the shoes heel shape!

I jump on this thread, since I'm about to buy Xi Shi, when their summer event starts up. Lemon at Angell Studio told me that I would be the first one to order Xi Shi in Sun tanned color, so that will be exciting. She said she would make a lovely tan for my doll. I just love Tanned girls, but not too tan, not ebony! But like Luts RSB and Iplehouse RS.

I do wonder though, if there is any user pictures available with Sun tanned skin from Angell Studio, so I could have a clue on what the skin color would look like?

 

Anyone have a Cynthia they could post photos of? I really want Cynthia in WS fullset with that gorgeous aqua dress she is in. I think I will order from AS's taobao store since it is alot cheaper. I just need to use a taobao agent. Anyone know which taobao agent is the best?

I think I need to move Lan Ling to the top of my wish list! I have always kicked myself for not getting Qingyi, but I think I like Lan Ling better! It's so nice to see them together.

@Alewife and @Fey Lady -- I really was happy with the quality of the outfit. Even the under-clothes were nicely finished. And details like the snaps in the under-shirt were black and matched the trim color, that was nice. The ties were all long enough and didn't look flimsy. The materials and fabrics were all very nice quality, too. Most doll companies are good quality, though (they know we are paying for that!), but sometimes some Chinese companies aren't quite as careful (while I like Doll-Chateau and Ringdoll... their details can be a bit rough sometimes).

The outfits probably fit the slimmer sized dolls, though.

 

I have a tan Hua Rong and their tan is a shade lighter than Luts RSB.

 

Oh.. that's very interesting, is there any pictures of her somewhere, so I can see how she looks?

I'm new to angell studio. Do the faceups look similar in person as it shows on their promo pics? I'm deciding on a doll and don't know whether to order or do a custom faceup. I've seen companies whose promo pics are amazing and then you receive the doll and the faceup looks nothing like the pictures. Anyone have any advice? Also, is their tan a lighter tan than let's say iplehouse, fairyland, etc?

I can't say anything about their tan as I own no tan dolls from them, but from my (limited) experience with their faceups, I'd say if you like the one in the promo pics enough then go for it. My girl with a faceup from them is absolutely stunning, she has my favorite faceup among my collection. It's very delicate and with great attention to detail. She even has actual individual lashes applied for her lower lashes rather than painted on, though I don't know if they do that in all their faceups or not. I'm still regretting getting my second doll from them blank. :'D

 

I'll agree with that. I don't have any tan dolls, but out of the three that I've got (the other two being Luts & Fairyland) the Angell Studio has the best faceup. My Charlotte below if that helps (any excuse to spam really )

 

Sorry... quick comparison, without adjustment or finding matching angles/lighting...

A-S official photo on Left, my awful photo on Right. I haven't done a detailed comparison (not at home) with the official photos, but I thought they looked enough alike not to worry about it. There are a few companies who sort of skimp on faceups from time to time (in my experience: Ringdoll sometimes, Doll-Chateau sometimes). I didn't feel that about A-S. I'd definitely get a faceup from them again... it seems close enough and good quality to me...

Note-- my skin tone isn't the same as the official photos. Theirs is butter and I ordered Normal Pink!

 

I've only ever had a custom faceup from AS, but I can also attest to their attention to detail. They do fantastic work! You could probably ask for a picture of your doll's face before they ship it--I don't know if they do that only for custom faceups or for any faceup, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

 

My Charlotte's faceup is bog standard and they sent me an email with three photos of her before she was shipped; so I'm guessing it's a standard process for them.

 

I received a preview of my girl's faceup before they shipped her too, but I've also heard of people who didn't get one for theirs, so I guess it depends?
