[Adopted] Soom Little Gem Monthly Mini Doll discussion (part 5)

Jun 10, 2014

1. waah! im so jealous! i wish i could get both grey and violet. i gotta pick. i was all set on violet til i found out the color is different than the normal soom violet. its not that i dont like the idea of a darker violet i just get nervous for a skin color i cant see user pics of.
i think the horns will be with magnets since in the pics they are on over the wig.

2. Everyones' awesome comments about Lux/Volo are weakening my resolve! That is so great that they darkened the light violet color. It is so pretty. I should order Lux/Volo (which one is the girl????) dress tomorrow. Can't wait to put it on my Human Rico. Nothing I've tried on her has suited her yet, but I think this dress will be perfect.

3. I posted a few questions on the Q&A, and one of them is about the names. So, hopefully tomorrow we'll know who's who^_^

Also, I would appreciate some Nor/Dune and Goss/Thera spam;)
I'm still trying to choose either the FCE doll I wanted, or Lux/Volo. Buying both would be crazy...but I can totally see myself doing it because I have like zero self-control when it comes to dolls:XD:

4. omg dark shiva im with you. im for sure gonna get a thera/goss body-- and a komat head if theyre offered. and i really want a bronze dune too. but i also want a lux/volo as well!!!!!

5. Whew, I'm glad SOOM allowed me to switch to the cream white for my order. I love the original lighter purple, but wouldn't want it any darker.

6. Got a reply from Soom: The boy is Lux, the girl is Volo:)

Also, seems like we won't be getting any extra pics of the wings and stuff:/

The short wig is, as ashooree already guessed, the mixed purple one. Laetitia said you can see the difference on the wig order page, but seriously, I still don't see any purple in that wig:XD:

I also asked if it's true that there will be a LG FCE soon, and this what Laetitia said: "We plan to do a Free Choice Event next month...but we can not tell you now what it will be, this is a sexret^^"
Well, now we know it won't be this month:) But I wonder what she meant by "what it will be". Maybe no one was supposed to tell us that it's LGs before the announcement?

7. Ohhh interesting. Yea i was sort of surprised with the very honest answer I got when I asked on q&a--- like I was wondering if someone either made a mistake in saying what it was or maybe had not understood my question somehow?
Anyway, I feel like it will be LG FCE given their scheduling trends.. maybe she just meant it was a secret as to which dolls will be available?

8. Yay, we finally know which is which! Kinda surprised the girl is Volo.

I don't see any purple in the wig, either, to be honest. The only tip-off was the eyes for me. >> Maybe it was difficult to photograph?

...Resisting temptation as far as the FCE goes is gonna be hard. I'm glad it's not this month.

9. Yeah, either Haylie said more than she was supposed to, or she misunderstood your question. The way Laetitia worded her reply seems to me like even saying what doll size it'll be isn't possible right now. But of course she could also have meant the sculpts and colors. Well, we'll see:)
I was really hoping for it to be sooner, though, because I need to know for sure which sculpts and colors will be offered. Oh, well.

10. What, they will not show us a picture of the dress without the jacket? Bummer. I will not get it in this case, I am still torn on the dress and would have needed to see it without the jacket. Still, I might buy the shoes.
(not getting any dolls btw, just wanted the dress for my Rico)

11. Same here, except for me it's the boy's outfit. Maybe you should ask on the Q&A as well? If they realize that there are quite a few potential buyers who want to see more pics, maybe they'll post some pics after all.

This is the full reply I got, btw:

"Hello ^^

1. The name of the boy is Lux and the girl is Volo :)
2. For the wig, the boy is wearing the mix purple wig, and the girl is wearing the dark brown one.
On this link, you can see clearly the difference between the two colors --> http://dollsoom.com/shop/shop/item.php?it_id=1425607130
3. We thought that we took good pictures.. >< I think it will be hard to do better than this ㅠㅠ, here is the link --> http://dollsoom.com/shop/shop/item.php?it_id=1425607155
4. We plan to do a Free choice event next month... but we can no tell you now what it will be, this is a secret ^^
Please, wait our news~

For any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me :)

HAve a beautiful day~

Best regards

Laetitia, SOOM

12. OK, can anyone tell me if this is something close to their usual delivery time range for LGs?

I ordered Ace (paid in full) on 1/30/15, and received the normal payment confirmation and order confirmation. Then, on 3/10/15, I received this e-mail from Soom:

I was kind of hoping to have her sooner than that (end of March seemed reasonable), but it looks like it will take a full 3 months. (I ordered a face-up, but no body blushing or clothes.)

Is that pretty average for Soom, or is this unusual?

-- A <3

P.S. The one plus side is that I already have what I hope are going to be clothes for her lined up, and I just got the custom-dyed mohair to make her wig, so I'll have everything ready for her when she arrives.

The only really unfortunate bit is that I can't start on the wig until she is physically present, because I have to make it for her specific head.

13. Yes, Ashbet, three months is completely normal for Soom. Just for reference, they have a 100 day guarantee policy when it comes to the shipping of their dolls. If they do not ship out within 100 days since being paid in full, Soom accredits points to your account for each day past. These days Soom appears to do their best to avoid going over that time period but still the consistent average is close to 3 months (since the day they are paid in full). c:

14. [IMG]

Theres my Thera (Right) and my Dain (Left).

Ahhhh I'm kind of sad to here Volo is the girls name? I preferred Luxs, I guess that doesnt make much sense?
I'm probably putting one in violet on layaway. I'm pretty excited, I imagine Volo will look wonderful beside my Dain once she gets her wings on.

15. cute girls!!
im also really suprised that lux is the boy ><! volo sounds more masculine. whatever if i get her i will still call her lux :p

16. Not just LG - all Sooms. I placed on order in early August on layaway (faceup only - nothing else) - paid off early on 9/30. I received on 12/26... so only 4 days short of being 3 months. I have yet to have a single order come early. they've all been either at or very, very close to the 3 months.

17. I had read about long turn arounds with Soom being average, but my first Soom order of Serin and Rico I paid in full and 10 days after they were shipped (I must have been veeeeery lucky). My current order (Rang and Dain) was paid around the same time as yours (6 days earlier) and my email stated the 5th week in March. So only a little lucky this time.

18. Fwiw, Soom recently shipped several of my dolls within days of full payment -- but then there's this one fairy who was paid off immediately after New Year's and right off they said he won't be shipped until early April. :|

Maybe it depends on how hard it is to cast the fantasy parts for that particular doll? Delicate things might take longer.

19. I am SO tempted by Volo... but I can't pick between violet or grey...

20. ME TOOO D; i was super set on light violet til i found out the color is different than normal. who knows maybe i will like it more than the usual one but its so hard to be sure on something like skin color without userpics........

21. Mystck I am so excited to hear that you are getting Volo (I preferred 'Lux' for the girl too..). But yay! ;v; Can't wait to see her with your current family~

22. Thanks so much for the info! I think IpleHouse and Volks have spoiled me rotten with their shipping times :)

(I think I'm more impatient since I'm going to be making her wig, rather than buying one -- so, that adds some time from when she gets home to when I can actually play with/photograph her. I just want her head to get here, so that I can start work on it . . . d'oh!)

-- A <3

23. Tiny bit of Rico mermaid spam for the yayz, though--sorry!--from a phone camera:

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/b637/UrbanWarlord/20150314_163720_zpspaxxjzbq.jpg

Also, I took a guess and got lucky--turns out a pint can is the perfect size to fit under her bum and not interfere with the fins, though ONLY if she can lean back against something! But hurray, this means maybe she can sit out and not get stuffed back in her box! :D

24. Aw, she's lovely! And I'm glad you found a convenient way to get her sitting, since she's far too pretty to be in her box!

25. Quick question if anyone can help me out. ;) I'm currently out of town until the middle of the week, so I can't measure myself until later. But I was wondering if anyone knew what the measurements of the blossom bust were? The website lists 17.5cm under general measurements, but I don't think that accounts for the blossom bust. :sweat I was going to request a custom order, but I can't remember the chest measurements.

26. Ashbet, ^u^ Its no problem, i'm glad I can help! xD Haha, yeah, before I started favoring Fairyland and Soom dolls I was spoiled with shorter waiting times too haha~

CourtneyC, I actually just measured my Blossom Bust girl body and was kind of surprised that it was exactly 17 cm. I thought it would be a little bigger than the original, but I guess the minimization of the chest/collarbone width from the previous LG girl bust helped even it out with the added breast width.

27. Thank you, Arkelle! I really appreciate it. :D That surprises me as well that it's so close. I just kind of assumed it would be larger, I'm glad I asked!

28. I broke down and ordered a Volo girl in Violet skin with transparent black parts. I love Gargoyles.. Soom is killing me.. My wallet can't handle it!!

First the mermaids.. then the owls.. now gargoyles.. they keep releasing all of my favorite things!
I hope I can get a Mylo girl one day.. Since I love bunnies too... Ahhh!

29. I recived a mail from soom, my order its still in the middle so they shipped in the middle of april, well only one more month of waiting....

30. I also ordered Volo in violet with an extra human body so I guess I will have sisters >_< I'm excited about them!!!

31. Congrats to everyone who ordered Lux/Volo:)
I'm still trying to resist, but it's quite possible one of them will "accidentally" make their way into my cart on the last day of the ordering period^^"

32. Does anyone know how face-ups work when there are dolls available in two genders with two different skin tones?

I'm strongly considering ordering a little gargoyle for myself, but I can't work out how face-ups work. Are they linked to skin colour (so a female in grey skin will have the same heavy blue make-up as the boy shown in the photos), or are they gender specific (so a female in grey skin will have the more pinky+brown colours of the violet girl in the photos)?

I'd ask Soom, but they probably won't have time to answer my question before the sales period is over :doh

33. I would guess the colors are determined by the resin color. On the FCE, they always say that body blushing is determined by the resin color you choose if you choose blushing for parts in a different resin than they came in.

34. Hrm...

On one hand, that is definitely how they do FCE dolls, and how they handle dolls offered with different skin tone options but no gender option (for example, I could not get the default CW Galena face-up on my GS Galena).

On the other hand, I am almost certain this is a Grey in white skin with the same default blushing as the grey-skinned Grey originally shown in Soom's photos. Suggesting that at least sometimes Soom do 'gendered' blushing rather than skin-tone based blushing...

Do I risk it to try to get my perfect grey skin girl, or do I save $55 and get her in violet instead? I really am not as keen on the violet (or CW) skin for a gargoyle, but I also really am not keen on the boy's face-up...

35. Yes, it's definitely by resin color. I asked them about it when Koori and Yuki were released, and I 'm sure it's the same for these guys. I wish they would let us choose the blushing color, actually. Especially for these two, switching the colors would look great IMO.
If you want to make 100% sure, though, I think they might answer your question before time's up.
They usually close the ordering period very late in the day, and sometimes they even forget to do it that day and it's still up the next morning. So, if you post your question now, they might read it in time. Then again, I'm positive it's by skin color. I do wonder what that means for the newly added CW option, though...

Edit: For me, it's exactly the opposite. I want a boy and love the boy's face-up, but I think I would like him to be violet skin...which kinda doesn't work with that girly face-up (which is also beautiful, but just won't work for a boy^^"). I'm interested in this deeper violet tone, because I love my Silky's color already and would lover a deeper color even more:) Then again, I also love Soom's Grey Skin, and it does fit the gargoyle theme best, IMO.

36. Oh well, I've just posted on the Q&A to ask... not sure what I'm hoping the answer will be really, since it will be much easier to pass on this release if grey skin with brown blushing isn't an option...

I really, really wish Soom would learn to explain their complicated dolls a bit better. I look at companies like Luts with their unblushed example parts, clearly-shown special resin colours and example face-up variations and just sigh enviously.

37. So true. I mean, it would also save them a lot of work if they described things in more detail. That way, they wouldn't be bombarded with questions about every new doll they release>.>
I'm also still a little angry they wouldn't post any pics of the outfits without the jackets on. I know it's not a huge deal, but it would have been important for me to know what they looke like without the jackets, and I don't get why they didn't want to post pics of that.

38. i asked that question as well. the answer made it seem that the faceups were genderlinked rather than resinlinked-- but then again it kind of seemed that they might have thought if i was asking which doll was male and which was female.

Good day.
Girl will be pink make up and boy will be blue make up :)

Best regards,
Haylie, SOOM

>
>
> Hi! In the promo pictures the violet skin girl is shown with pink makeup and the grey skin boy is shown with blue makeup.
> if i were to order a grey skin girl would it come with blue makeup or pink makeup?
> thanks!!

39. OMG, if this is true and she didn't misunderstand your question, WHY did they not say so anywhere on the page?!:doh
That's it, I'm gonna ask too. This is too important to leave up to chance. And since Laetitia is usually the one answering questions on the EU board, it'll be interesting to hear what she says. If she reads my question in time, that is^^"

40. o3o Yeah... not to butt in or anything, but I also believe blushing is mostly tied to the gender of the doll and not to resin color. At least, it has been in the past. I distinctly remember during the last LGFCE for example, there were people questioning the same thing in regards to the color of the blushing for Shale/Adamelli's hooves. The males were to be given orange/brown and the girls yellow/green (like the original blushing) regardless of resin color. Of course, i'm sure there are differences with the way the blushing appears because of the resin color and minor color differences are probably present, but still the overall color palette and faceup style I believe is tied to gender. Koori/Yuki did not have gender-based color schemes as Shale/Adamelli and Lux/Volo do for example.

41. Actually, now that you mention it...it seems kind of random how they do it, but there are more cases of the blushing being based on gender. Koori/Yuki's blushing was based on skin color, but my Roxen is grey and has the "girl face-up", so for Turb/Roxen it was based on gender. Shale/Adamelli were only available in CW, so them being gender-based is a given. What about Rang and Dain?
What confuses me in Lux and Volo's case is that at the very bottom of the page, beneath the pics of their gargoyle feet, it says "light violet blushing" and "grey blushing", which makes it seem like it depends on the skin color...but that would contradict what Haylie told RoyalBarjack.
Anyway, I hope we get clarification before the ordering period is over^^

42. yeaaaaaa. i love soom but i wish they would provide more information. i am still weirded out by the fact that they listed the skin color as light violet when it is a different color than their normal violet. they shoulda made a notice or called it something different '3'

43. I believe in Rang/Dain's case they purposefully split up the two ordering pages by resin color so that it would be impossible to have the blue/pink blushing on the Bronze skin. It just wouldn't look right whatsoever as the colors just would not have the same effect and i'm sure Soom was well aware of that. If they had combined the two together as gender equivalents such as with Lux/Volo, it would have been possible to have the "girl" blushing (which by Soom's standards would obviously be Dain's) on the Bronze resin. You know? In a way, this also helps prove the theory that blushing/faceups are gender based. If they weren't there would be no reason not to have Rang/Dain together in one page.

It is curious about them specifically wording it "grey blushing" and "light violet blushing" for Lux/Volo though. That is really the only thing that would be concern for doubt. Regardless, Soom isn't known for their..."accurate" wording and translations nor for an adept ability at explaining specific (and often very crucial) details.

44. Wow, that was fastO_O
Here's Laetitia's reply:

"Regarding Lux&Volo, the face-up/blushing will be the same for each doll, no matter the skin color of the doll you will choose. Indeed, Lux (boy) will have the 'blue' face-up and Volo (girl) will have the 'pink' face-up, no matter the skin color.

--> If you order a Violet skin Lux, he will get the blue face-up."

^_^

45. Yayyyyy/Noooooo

Okay, time to think very hard about whether or not I really need a grey skin gargoyle girl...

46. Oh good, we're all last-minute angsting about the blushing to resin color. I also asked a question about this, so if I get an answer sooner (I am stalking QA) then I'll let you know too, in case it help. Not holding my breath, though as they skipped me...in my case, I asked about blushing for Lux on the WS body, as I need him WS for something I'm planning. :sweat

.hlp

47. heidipay, I think since Laetitia said if I ordered a LV Lux, he would get the blue face-up, it's safe to say that the same would go for a CW one. I actually mentioned CW in my question and since she didn't say anything about it in her reply, I'm guessing it's just the same as the other colors in terms of face-up/blushing.
But it's definitely good you asked, just in case there IS something different for CW^^

48. Urge to order girlgoyle... rising...

Edit: Aaaaand I've caved. Stupid photoshop mock-up, being irresistible *shakes fist*

49. Congrats!
Photoshop did it for me as well..

50. Curious would they allow you to buy a girl and boy body for the Lox/Volo? Since it comes with 2 heads it would be cool to have a boy and girl. I know there is a drop down for a human body but doesn't say if you can get the opposite gender.

51. I don't think so. When I bought my Roxen, there was no option for an additional body, so I asked on the Q&A if it would be possible to buy one anyway. They said yes, but the body would be the same gender as the other one. You can try asking, though, maybe things have changed since then;)

52. so now that i dropped a ton of money on volo, i cant wait for the fce >< mostly because i am super curious/cant wait/want to start planning for which dolls will be definitely released!

53. Beautiful outfit. I love the top and the jewel necklace. Very exotic.

54. I sent them a question about getting the blue face up and blue blushing for a grey skin girl. Else, I want to change my order to a boy and will probably just dress him up as a girl. I will be happy with either outcome.

55. Yep, I got a response after I went to bed, so typical. :sweat They told me that it's totally on gender (which we already knew), so the 'same' blushing will be applied regardless of resin color (presumably with small adjustments, but essentially the same palette). In any event, I've ordered myself a Lux and we'll see how I feel about this--part of me was thinking I'd go the 'order the girl' route, but I am going to see how I feel about the blushing IRL. :)

Just once, Soom, let me have my pinky boy blushing though, eep! :sweat

.hlp

56. I got an answer on the blushing, but not the faceup. I sent another inquiry to be sure they cannot give the grey girl a blue faceup. Here was the response on the blushing for those interested.
Good day.

Here is our Lux and Volo Blushing.

ex) CW boy body- only Blue blushing
CW Girl body - Only Pink Body Blushing
Light Violet body - only Pink Blushing (all gender)
Grey skin body - only blue Blushing (all gender)

So if you order grey skin (all gender) will be blue blushing =)

Have a lovely day.

Best regards,
Haylie, SOOM

57. I got a response from Haylie that contradicts the gender faceup rule, so I am getting a grey girl with blue faceup.

Good day.

Oh, i missed face-up :p
It is also same with bodyblushing option color :)
So Grey skin body (all gender) - only blue Blushing and blue face-up.
(but boy and girl have different make -up!!)

So please let me know your opinion :)

Have a lovely day.

Best regards,
Haylie, SOOM

58. :doh Seriously, Soom.

Honestly just glad that I ordered my girl without face-ups for the moment. Hopefully it will turn out they are gender linked so I can add them, but if not at least I won't have wasted a bunch of money on something I don't want!

Edit: Just got my own reply:

Very unimpressed, considering I ordered my doll specifically because someone else was told literally the exact opposite of this.

Also not terribly impressed by the exclamation mark, as though Haylie is getting frustrated with people asking the same question over and over again. Hey Soom, if your ads were clearer, your customers wouldn't have to frantically post on your Q&A over something as basic as "if I pay you $100, what will I actually get for it?"

59. I'm officially confused, now. Why is Haylie saying the exact opposite of what Laetitia is saying??? This also makes me worry about future questions I might have, because I seriously don't know who to believe anymore>_<
The only thing pointing towards Haylie being right is "grey blushing" and "light violet blushing" being written on the order page, as mentioned earlier. I guess the only way to know for sure would be to tell both of them that what they're saying contradicts what the other one is saying. Maybe one of them will then ask whoever is in charge to give them the correct info.

You know, if they were doing a customer survey now, I would definitely mention that there needs to be more info on the order pages, and more pics. And not so much misleading info-.- I used to be OK with the way they did things, but recently, there are almost always some unanswered questions about each release, and to get those answers you need to ask on the Q&A. This wouldn't be such a problem if they then added the answers to the order pages so everyone would know, not just the person who asked about it. Especially if multiple customers are asking about the same thing...
Sorry about the rant^^"
