[Adopted] Dollmore Trinity Discussion

Sep 11, 2012

    1. Yeah, a Lusion boy would work well as a little brother or something. Wouldn't work as a same-age companion, though. The bodies are way too childish. Chubby hands and feet, childish faces. They'd never pass for teens. They're meant to be the young siblings of the Trinity.

I've been hearing rumors that Dollmore has a Lusion boy in the works. It could happen!

    2. Yeah I know the Lusions are toddler-ish, just for people to be able to have a Lusion boy or girl, so trinities could have little brothers too would be awesome (not that I even have one :p)

    3. I have wishful thinking that someday, someone will have enough money and time and ability on their hands to be able to mod a Trinity and make "her" a "he".

      • x 1
    4. I hope someone with the drive and talent sees that :)

    5. I know someone with a Lusion modded her to him. Haven't seen it done yet with a Trinity but that'd be awesome.

      • x 1
    6. Oh yeah, I remember seeing that in fb page. :D He had had boy bits "incorporated" into him. :D

    7. Do you guys have a link for the FB page so I can stalk?

teacherkael1 - I just realized you are the owner of the only Lumie I have ever liked the look of, your Maddalaeianna Dolorosa is exquisite ^^

    8. Hello! Is anyone thinking about getting the new Blanc Printemps Elysia? I absolutely love the Elysia face sculpt but the idea of paying that price tag for an outfit and faceup I'm not 100% in love with makes me sad :sigh I love everything about the Persona Pathos Elysia, but she sold out ages ago, and although I like From Now to Eternity Elysia's outfit, I'd want to change her faceup and it would be such a shame to erase it just because it's not my style.

I emailed Dollmore asking if they have any plans to release a plain or basic Elysia like they do with Black Jude and Golden Jude, but they told me no and same goes for when I asked about a basic Klaire. Such a shame! I would love the option of more blank Trinity sculpts in addition to Jude.

@teacherkael1 Your Lumie is absolutely breathtaking! I'm so jealous!

    9. I love the Blanc Printemps Elysia but I already have Red Riding hood. I would wait until they release one that you love. At least with a faceup that would require only minor tweaking. If you don't like the outfit you could probably sell it or trade for another one.

    10. I'd buy that outfit! It's amazing! But I already own Elysia so I don't need another doll attached to it. lol

I keep asking dollmore if they'd consider releasing more outfits like that WITHOUT a doll attached. No luck so far. :(

    11. I have Violet Letter Knife and Belladonna Elysia, so that's it for me. They've said no since the beginning for Elysia and I doubt they'll change until they're sure they won't sell any more limited dolls.

    12. I have black Jude, violet letter Elysia and Belladonna Claire, so no more of these for me either but I would looove to get more beautiful outfits for them. I even asked them in person when I attended Ldoll in Lyon (France) in 2014. Unfortunately, they said no. The reason I was given was that the production of these LE outfits was more expensive than the dolls and they felt that no one would be willing to pay that kind of money for them.

    13. That's hard to believe, about the outfits. I did ask them to make me an outfit for the dolls from their stock. No, said they, the designer doesn't want to. What? But they need a lot more clothing for them, just some more dresses and if you notice, they're selling out of a lot of stuff, like shoes...what's up with that?

    14. @Stormlight - Haha I'm the opposite! I just want the doll and don't care too much for any of the Trinity outfits, except the ones on Cream Voler Klaire and Mint Hydrangea Lumie.

@crystalenchantress - The production of the outfits was more expensive than that the dolls?! Weird... Makes you wonder just how much they profit from each doll

That's too bad it sounds like Dollmore won't be pursuing it even though clearly there are people who would love more special outfits. And I must say I'm so jealous of all you Elysia owners!

    15. I want the Cream Voler Klaire outfit, too. Of course, I want the doll with it! lol I have Blue Voler Elysia, and I wouldn't mind pink Voler outfit from the Lumie set, too, so I can have matching set (I already have Personas Pathos Lumie).

    16. We surely want a lot for our dolls, don't we? I just want more clothes but not another trinity. I have two and that's enough...They're heavy and awkward to dress, but I just adore their beautiful faces.

    17. I'll second that whole post! But two trinities is my limit!

    18. I third that emotion. i did have three at one time and was toying with the idea of two Judes, but then I said to myself, cut it out! Two is the limit, fool! Not you, Nancy, me.

    19. Up until this release, I could always say I liked the faceup on mine better than the new release. I'm having a hard time saying that this time!

    20. Sell yours and buy the new one? They're not hard to sell, although they don't fetch their new to market prices.

    21. Whoopeee! The thread is alive again!

@ker246 Thank you very much! Although I can't take any credit for her, except of buying her and changing her eyes and wig, and her ensemble, soon. Bidoll's Yana practically made her the way she is, and she is who I have to thank for making this Lumie very fabulous.

I remember asking last year about outfits (from lusion to trinity) and I remember the prices went from the original to $300-400? And according to them, the price of lace and cloth in Korea is really expensive. So, yeah, considering the amount of lace and fancy fabric in each piece, I could somehow comprehend the price.

It's too bad, hence I just decided to have the dresses made here in my town. The cost of raw materials and production is much, much cheaper, and I could learn from the process.

    22. I wonder if they'd accept American fabrics and make our dolls something that copies their designs? But who knows? I might have to start sewing again. In my spare time. Hah!

      • x 1
    23. Just a question, though, thrown to the seamstresses around here: approximately how much is it to craft a trinity outfit, from the raw materials to the construction time and process? I am genuinely curious how the pricing would differ, especially considering different locations.

    24. I don't think too many make clothes for Trinities. It's much easier to get stuff for the Lusions, but the Trinities? Not sure.

    25. Some of my friends sew their own (human-size haha) costumes, and I believe the Trinity outfits with multiple fabrics and trims could cost $100 or more in raw materials if we're using taobao as a source. Outfits like Violet Letter and Red Riding Hood are more simple just because you could technically base them on pre-established kid size patterns from McCall's or Simplicity, compared to the ones with corsets and multi-layer skirts. Items that require a lot of structure or pleats and pintucks mean more time into quality control so I could understand them eventually charging another $100 for those outfits with labor factored in (7 hours at $15/hour?). I think the factor that the company can't calculate though is the fact it takes time for someone to design the outfit and find a source for all the different materials, which could take an indeterminate amount of time, so maybe with that artistic step in mind, they don't think designing new outfits is worth it? Just because their designer has to come up with the look and which materials to use and where to find them and that's
I don't want to speculate too much though since I've never seen a Trinity or their clothes in person, but based on the stock pics, some of them do look like a lot of effort.

    26. The Violet Letter outfit is much more complex than you'd think. With pantalets, blouse, petticoat, all in re-embroidered cotton and then a dress fitting over the top and a hat with gravity defying ruffles, plus tight lace gloves and a hankie...that girl is stylin' it and make no mistake. But the Belladonna outfit is easier, as is Snow Flower Jude, so you're right there. No easy answer...none at all.

    27. The cost of materials can get high, and production time, quality of materials, etc... The skirts can take up to three yards of fabric, depending on fullness themselves. I know the lace palazzo pants outfits I'm making are taking about a yard in the pants...

    28. That's true. They're kind of half-human size, no, more, and so they'd need a fair amount of material, as you have said.

    29. So, I've decided to save up for a Trinity. I'm not sure about which sculpt because it'll take me a while and the options will probably be different by the time I'm ready to buy.

Does anyone have opinions on dressing the Trinities in human clothes? I can't sew at all and am somewhat uncertain on what kind of budget I'll need to keep my doll clothed.

    30. I can sew but don't anymore, so am dependent on others for Trinity clothes...they do take a lot of fabric to keep them covered. I did get a human kid's kimono that was perfect with kid's leggings, but that's about as far as I've ventured. Good luck! I wonder who will sing loudest to you.

    31. I have found that most 12mo baby clothes fit around but of course they are short. So a baby dress can make a tunic top. A 12mo maxi dress makes a nice normal dress for trinity. I'll try to get some pictures. You do need to be very picky and get things that don't look like baby clothes!

    32. That's so true. And I think six month leggings can work. I got them in red and black and they're great. A bit loose, but they do fine. And ballet slippers in size 7 and jellies too are fabulous for these dolls.

    33. Zulily is my best friend and my worst enemy. lol They have SO many outfits for girls that are just gorgeous, and you don't find many clothes like those in retail stores. I find that sizes 12 months to 24 months work best, depending on what you buy. 18 or 24 month dresses work well, especially if they have a tie waist or you're going for a loose, flowy look.

Pants are more difficult. Most pants will end up looking more like shorts. I have a couple pair of newborn "jeans" (stretch material) with elastic waist that make great short-shorts. Leggings are tricky, because too big and they won't fit the waist. Size 12 works best for the waist, but tend to be pretty tight in the legs. I found some adorable ruffled gaucho pants on Zulily that make great knee-length capris and aren't too tight in the leg. They look great paired with a dress/tunic shirt.

For shoes, I find size 4 or 5 toddler fits best (make sure it's toddler size, not kid, otherwise it'll be way too big). I can't take credit for this idea, but when you get your trinity, outline her foot on a piece of cardboard, cut it out, and carry it with you when you shop for shoes. If it fits inside the shoe, it'll fit her foot.

Here's one of the outfits I bought from Zulily. The leggings are actually 18month I think so I pinned the waist. The dress is 24month. The hat is 12-24 month and is kind of big and floppy on her, but it does fit. The shoes are size 4T. They're snug.

    34. She looks gorgeous and thanks for the tutorial. I've gotten shoes for the Trinities on Zulily too....love that dress, which is such a pretty color.

    35. @Stormlight I've never looked at these dolls before, but I saw your comment on my news feed! Your girl looks soooooo pretty. I really love her outfit. I'd wear it! Zulily is dangerous for all girls, even big doll girls!

    36. @Stormlight pretty much a big fan of your styling of your Lumie! I love how loose and relaxed she is!

    37. Thank you! :) Trinities are amazingly addictive, despite their massive size. I have two of them (Lumie and Elysia), and I'd love to bring a Klaire home someday. If I ever get a bigger place. lol

I totally agree about Zulily. I've spent plenty of money on clothes for myself, as well as the girls. And I'd love to wear the clothes I'd buy for them, but they don't make 'em in adult sizes. I'll just have to live vicariously through my dolls. lol

@teacherkael1 Oh, thanks! You must've posted same time I did. lol

I originally had a completely different style in mind for Tori, more old-fashioned/vintage, like from the late 19th or early 20th century. But vintage-type clothes in the right size are hard to find, and I'm no seamstress. And she pulls off the frilly, Mori-girl look so well. It must be her young face. It doesn't seem to work as well on Michaela, my Elysia.

    38. Zulily can be very hard on the budget! Most of my "baby" clothes purchases come from there! When I first got my Jude, they had little heels in toddler sizes! I think they have quit making them, but the size four heeled sandals fit perfectly! I find size 5 works best for M Mary Janes or boots. These are some of the heels: [IMG]
The red onjes are a toddler 5 and are a bit big but the toddler 4 pink ones fit like they were made for the Trinity feet!

    39. I'm not sure if this would look completely ridiculous or not, but have one of you owners of both a Trinity and Lusion ever tried putting a Trinity head on a Lusion body? I'm wondering how that looks since they take the same wig size so I assume their heads are generally of a similar size overall.
I'm specifically interested in seeing an Elysia head on a Lusion body! But I'm really just curious about any combination of Trinity head/Lusion body.

    40. While they have the same circumference, they are not the same shape. The Lusion is a round head of a child and the trinity heads are longer and thinner adult heads. I have seen a swap somewhere and it did not work well.

    41. If I remember correctly, @xen did a swap. It's not that it didn't work correctly, it just looked different, is all. They looked like artist dolls after the swap. They looked really pretty to me, tbh, I think it's just a matter of preference. :)

    42. The Jude head doesn't look TOO off on a Lusion body, but yeah, Elysia or Klaire would look ridiculous. Their sculpts are far too mature to look good on a toddler body. Lumie has a more childish sculpt, but even she can't pass for anything younger than 12 or 13.

With the right face up, a Lusion head might be able to work on a Trinity body, better than the Trinity on the Lusion body, anyway.

    43. Thank you! I actually think the Daish(?) looks alright on the Trinity body even though it's small, but the Jude head looks HUGE on the Lusion body! I was not expecting just how big it looks, but maybe it's the angle??
Either way, thanks everyone for your responses!

    44. I am so glad to be joining you all! I have just ordered my first Dollmore doll, the new Elysia! It will be a while before I have her, but I am so excited to have her on order.

    45. Congrats!!

      Teddy

    46. Congrats on her! She's beautiful!!

On the subject of new things, check out the newest Klaire!! She is a really beautiful version, a more refined version of Belladonna Requiem Klaire! I am not sure about the construction of the outfit, but the face, patch, and headdress are exquisite!

    47. Congrats! I hope to own an Elysia one day. Please post pics when she arrives!

I love that Dollmore has released ore Trinitiy girls to look at! The drama and extravagance of the new Klaire's outfit is fantastic.

    48. Oh no...I just now saw the new Blanc Printemps Elysia, I didn't even know this line existed and I'm in HUGE trouble now! I hope you all will spam your girls a bit for me, I'd love to see more of them! I'm afraid I might need one...

    49. Sure! He's my Red Riding Hood Elysia!

    50. She's so beautiful.... I love how natural her eye makeup is. Elysia is simply my favorite. And that wig really suits her!

    51. nancy_schroeder_ca, your Elysia is amazing! I have to admit, that's the sculpt I'm falling all over right now! I'm afraid I'm going to start obsessing over having one of these girls. I'm waiting on 2 incoming full set, smaller (lol, what bjd isn't smaller?) girls, so I'm maintaining a semblance of patience, but I'm starting to save for one of these big girls, so I hope to have one before long!

Would love some input on the size from folks here, do you begin to love the larger size more than your smaller bjd's once you get one of these lovely girls? (am I going to be hooked??? lol!)

    52. Is it just me, or does the Red Priestess Klaire like a little bit like Jennifer Love Hewitt? Especially the last picture?

So gorgeous... That faceup challenges my resolve to buy one just to paint.

    53. My Michaela.

    54. Michaela is very pretty! I love the wig.

    55. This may be a dumb question, for all you longtime dollmore trinity owners, but do the fullset dolls come with sanded seams or do you have to specifically order that? I don't see a place on the sales page for ordering sanded seams, or anywhere where it gives a price for sanded seams, so how do you do it?

    56. Thank you for all the welcomes! I hope I can pay off my layaway sooner than the 10 months I chose as I do not want to wait a year for my Elysia. I think the new Klaire is really nice also. I would love to have her too, but cannot.

And Michaela is such a beauty! Love her!

I am curious about the sanding too. I would hope for 2500 a doll would be sanded already if needed?

    57. Thank you for the compliments on Michaela! :)

As for the sanding, it must be ordered separately. It is $145. You can find the option in the makeup & sanding section of the site. For smaller dolls I usually don't bother with seam sanding, but I've added sanding to all of my big girls. I feel it adds a touch more realism to them to not have noticeable lines running down their bodies. Not that Dollmore's seams are terrible like some other companies. I guess it's a matter of preference.

    58. Thank you kindly Stormlight :)

    59. No problem! :)
