a waiting room for all! Part 4

Jun 2, 2024

    1. It's really a whole new world! There are so many different ones you can find^_^ good luck with your search, and hope your body comes home safe! Bonbon galaxy sculpts are very pretty:)

    2. Just ordered 2 doppel maiden heads before their event ended! I got Eta (for one of my OCs) and Kappa (‘cause I just thought he was awesome, lol. I don’t even have a plan for him.)

Not many people here seem to have ordered from this company before, so if you have feel free to let me know how your order went :dance

    3. Well my time in the waiting room is over! My bluefairy arrived yesterday. Not a scrap of bubble wrap in there! An absolute miracle she arrived safely! :XD:They trusted UPS more than I can fathom. She is very cute and I'm looking forward to working on her and seeing if the bluefairy discussion thread will be active at all! Good luck on your waiting everyone!

    4. Last night I bought an AnotherSecret ANS69 body from Xianyu (China's secondhand market). It'd be for my last floating head. I hope the seller ships it soon to my Chinese proxy's warehouse, I want to send it home ASAP and ahead of the Christmas peak shipping season.

    5. @sunhellion Doppel Maiden is Immortality of Soul/IOS, and their wait times and communication in the last 2 years have been less than ideal, to both individual customers and some dealers.

I had to open a Paypal claim to get any communication from IOS regarding my order, which was sent very close to the end of the 6 month buyer protection period.

I would recommend noting the ETA for your order, and keeping up communication so your heads are delivered in a timely manner. I hope your order process goes smoothly!

      • x 2
    6. OH thank you very much for telling me! I thought they were just doing a collab with IOS, but that makes a lot more sense!

Goodness, that’s so frustrating. I’m very glad that they had an option for PayPal so I have their protection. Did you end up getting your order or did you have to go through with the claim? My supposed ETA is around January but that seems verrrrry hopeful lol. I’ll keep that in mind!

      Thank you for sharing! *_*

    7. @sunhellion I did end up getting my order – it was a Class 70 head and a Class 65F body – but the experience of having to open a claim to get my messages answered soured the experience and I sold the head not long after receiving it.
If you look in the IOS Feedback thread here, MaleficentMrsofEvil had a very similar experience to me.
Hold IOS/Doppel Maiden to their predicted delivery deadlines, and if they won't reply to your messages, open a claim!
I consider opening a claim to be burning my bridges with a dollmaker, so I won't order from them again (and can't help but wonder if the Doppel Maiden brand is a way to deflect bad feedback).

    8. That… sounds really bad. :( It’s definitely working because I had no idea. I was also wondering why the QnA section was password protected, now I can see why haha… it’s such a damn shame because I love all their sculpts! I appreciate the heads up with dealing with them, I’ll definitely follow those instructions!

      • x 1
    9. This is why DoA is such a useful resource – you can get honest feedback from people about their experiences with dollmakers/faceup artists/customisers etc. that cannot be hidden behind passwords or removed from social media comments.

When you have Marketplace access, while mods don't directly intervene in problem transactions, people not honouring sales they agree to as either a buyer or seller are held accountable.
I've had problem transactions offsite and on DoA, and the DoA one was resolved much smoother.

    10. I'll add to the DM conversation: I never tried asking for updates, so I can't comment on how accessible customer service is. But I have ordered a Doppel Maiden head before, and it arrived in a reasonable time for a BJD preorder and packed really well.

    11. Thank you both a lot, I really appreciate it! Fingers crossed!! :eusa_pray

    12. Joining the waiting room :cheer!!! My new doll shipped the other day and I’m hoping she gets here next week when I’m off work for the holiday. Also I love other peoples box opening videos and posts but I’ve never done one of my own. I’m thinking it’s finally time to post a box opening :D

    14. This Monday I ordered a Pigi from Skyland Dolls - he was kind enough to offer me the option of ordering one doll, because I didn't decide quickly enough about the available one he had in stock and someone else took it! He said the wait would be 1-2 months, so keep your fingers crossed for that!
In the meantime I'm trying to get her a wig from an amazing wig maker, we'll see if they agree to making it for the Pigi size. And also planning to order a custom outfit for the girl from another creator from Poland, if she's still in business! Of course along with preparing some hand made mini furniture for her to keep myself busy and invested, but not burnt out.

    15. I don't typically like bigger dolls, but I got the opportunity to put a giant Stadnik from Nefer Kane on layaway! Looking forward to when she will come home to me <3

    16. Just put down a deposit for an ANother Secret 61 girl body for my problem floating head.
I was on the verge of getting a different body for her, but ANS announced domestic preorders opening for their 59/61 girl bodies with their new head this morning and I jumped at the chance as the ANS61 was my first choice body. I'm very much looking forward to trying it out!

    17. The ANS69 body arrived a few days ago, yay. I'll eventually post a box opening thread, but I'm out of this waiting room now. ^^

Update - here is the box opening thread.

    18. as soon as i paid off my first resin cast bjd - a stock blank doll chateau beacher doll (and it’s already shipped!!) - i put thistle by butterberrydolls on layaway  i couldn’t help it, she’s been in my head the whole time and she’s gorgeous. i ordered her with fullbody blushing and custom eyes so i expect it will take a bit longer than the estimated 6-8 months. but i don’t mind, i know she’s going to be stunning when she gets here! curious to know if anyone else has preordered her :)

    19. I have a delf kid pretty v.7 body on the way from a secondhand seller on ebay, and I'm so excited! The COA is staying with the head (which did not appeal to me) but they are sending the booklet and original box with the body. They also sent a picture of the COA, which I'm going to print and keep with the box. Is that an acceptable way to maintain documentation for a second hand item?

      • x 2
    20. @P0laris It's standard practice in most sales for CoAs to stay with the head, as often the CoA names the head sculpt and may not name the kind of body it came with.
Many dollmakers don't issue CoAs for bodies or extra parts like event heads – some dollmakers issue a doll with a CoA for the head and one for the body (I have dolls from Angell-Studio and Soom where this is the case) and some don't issue CoAs at all but have other proof of provenance (I have Volks limiteds that have no CoA but have unique headplates, boxes, and instruction manuals).
A copy of the CoA with notes from the seller saying when it was sold and what it was from is plenty of proof of provenance :thumbup

      • x 3
    21. The box and the booklet are enough to show the legitimacy of the body. The CoA goes with the head, because that is the sculpt itself. That way the legitimacy is proven for the head.

I actually don't consider a copy of a CoA proof when I am looking for dolls on the second hand market. I am very particular. I don't trust a copy, or a written note, there could be many copies and many written notes about the same doll/body. Even if I trust the seller and bought from them before. I may personally know the seller is legit. I wouldn't expect that I could be able to prove the value of the doll to anyone else with just a copy.

I know some people will accept copies, I personally would pass up any sale that only offered a copy of the CoA.

    22. I think my post is being misinterpreted – what I said was referring to body-only sales.
It would be highly unusual for a doll sold in a split to have the CoA go with the body, and as I said above, CoAs do not often specify the body configuration the doll was sold with, which makes them a less helpful proving legitimacy of a body alone unless there are other ways of knowing what body came with that head.

Of course, it's up to individual buyers to decide how much due diligence and proof of legitimacy is needed before making a purchase, and this is where other factors such as markings inside body parts, original packaging, database entries, dollmaker website and social media history, owner purchase history and extras like instruction manuals or promotional goods can be helpful.

As a personal, on-topic for this thread example, I was looking at buying a head that was a Volks One Off. It had a CoA and the headplate (for me, a lack of headplate is a dealbreaker with Volks dolls as they're highly recast, and even then some recasters will make fake headplates). The date on the plate matched the CoA, and by going through Volks's Instagram, I was able to find promotional pictures of the same doll from the time period that matched the CoA with the same faceup, offered through the same Tenshi no Sumika specified on the CoA. The doll wasn't being sold by the original owner, and the original owner's name had been cut out of the CoA, but I know this is standard practice for Japanese secondhand sales through Dollyteria and Mandarake. I had enough evidence to satisfy myself that the head was legitimate, and how it reasonably could have made its way into the hands of the buyer.

Many people on DoA are also willing to help if people have questions about whether a doll is legitimate, and there's always Ask the Mods if someone believes a doll they have bought or are looking at buying may not be legitimate.

I've said my piece, now it's back to the waiting...
It's highly unlikely the head I bought will make it home before the New Year (let alone my Dollzone and Bimong orders) as Christmas really clogs up the postal network.
I'm excited as she's "the one that got away" that I was kicking myself for not buying when one was readily available secondhand but came with a body I didn't want.

    23. Currently waiting on two bodies, Dollzone 42cm girl body for my Minifee DES head & MYou doll 45cm boy body for my Minifee Yder head (finally). I took advantage of some nice sales on Alices collections:evilplot: and an outfit for my Volks Nana. So excited to make some progress with my collection :dance

    24. Thank you @RabbidBunnies (congrats on your adorable new girl) and
@castironteapot for your advice! I really appreciate it.

Playing the waiting game is so hard, even though the Delf Kid body will hopefully be here Monday! The Bonbon galaxy body on the other hand hasn't even shipped... I think this long term waiting is going to change my brain chemistry (for the better).

    25. I am now officially waiting on Aimerai's Oscar Diggs The Great & Terrible Magician!
I got him Fullset, and new. I am super excited for him!

    26. Finally I complete the payment plan for a Yi Cen 77 body:3nodding:, now I have to wait for news about when it will be shipped to me :sorry

      • x 2
    27. I submitted a deposit for Abidoll 72 Hera in Mocha skin from Space Studio, on January 19. It will be a long wait, 5 or 6 months as stated on the site.

    28. my bonbon galaxy body cleared customs!! hopefully she will be home in a couple of weeks. Of course, I decided on a character for her and found a head for sale I love but it doesn't match the bonbon body proportionally. So, this body will go to a different project... initially I wanted to make my own head for it, then wanted to buy one, and now I think I have a completely different character in mind for this body. So much can happen in between ordering and arrival...

    29. On January 29 I placed an order for an in-stock artist head at Dollsphere and commissioned the faceup add-on service. I was given a 2-3 months estimate.

UPDATE 5 March: Dollsphere told me the artist has received the head and the faceup will be ready in April.

On February 3, I placed an order from Plutodoll's Etsy shop for a Rayne with faceup. Estimate 3 months.

    30. Just started a layaway for my second doll, XagaDoll Star Moon!!

Hoping to complete the payment around the time she should be juuust getting ready to ship, in 4 months. Ironically she might arrive before my first resin doll even arrives because the ETA for that (Huajing Yuzhi) was ~6 months ordered in Jan… lol

Both of their heads had a 2 month TAT so I expect them next month (Zi Zhi heads from legend)

    37. I have quite a few dolls I am waiting on at the moment (a mix of new and second-hand, from Korea, China, and Japan!) :XD:

Despite all being ordered at different times, it seems like I may have them all in the next month!

Today, my order from Luts and my order from Nine9Style are both out for delivery (they were shipped on different days but were on the same flight to my country!). I'm out until late for a work event tonight, so might not be able to open them until tomorrow! :atremblin

My Luts order has my Zuzu Delf Fenny (who I'll be calling Kana) as well as two Chicabi wigs and a cat hat. One of my 1/4 girls has been bald for so long, and it will be so good to have her wig!

My Nine9Style order has my Muse41 Milk! It's such a beautiful sculpt, but I haven't seen anyone with it yet. Mine will be a boy called Algernon :3nodding:

    40. ...and ordered!

Domuya - Vampire Julian Bitten Series Full Set... and last month I got Domuya - Vampire Veronika Bitten Series Full Set.

So, I will have both of them at home soon. They look awesome together and can hardly wait until my boy gets home! He was instock, as was she from Doll Peddler. He will possibly arrive sometime next week. It usually takes them about a week to get to me from Doll Peddler.

This is the company picture of both dolls.

    44. New I made a pre-order through Space Studio BJD for Blackship's Oil Painting Body in mia white~ I like how it poses and looks, very different than the usual super-model skinny I normally see for bjd. I was actually debating between this one or the IMPL star "plump" body, but I decided I want more posability. Very greek goddess coded body! I can't wait~ I'll be making my OC with her~

    45. New eeeeeee I preordered another body *_* I'm so excited though for my cheese cream cap girl!! I got her in Mia White to match a head I liked, though I'm hoping to either dye her (nervous) or do some serious fantasy colour body blushing to make her more otherworldly:thumbup

    47. New
Aww maybe one day~ BlackShip doesn't seem to be planning on making it a limited body, but don't quote me on that! As for my doll, I'm planning on using MooM Doll's Boya head, as it's very close to what my OC looks like!

Ditto on the part about the excitement~

    48. New
Ohh, I looked up that head and it's so gorgeous, it looks like it'll suit the oil painting body very well!
