My geek doesn't actually look very geeky in this picture and he is still rather an unfinished project. Currently waiting for a new face up at the salon, and me to finish his computer gizmos.

This is Topher....he is a scribe for a team of Zombie hunters. He reads everything he can get his hands on....he didn't start off as a nerd, but when the world dies and there is no one who can make disposable contacts anymore and you read everything you can and can hack into any computer...nerd just fits...besides you should see the other guys (and girls for that matter) who he hangs with. Chroma is my most bookish doll. Though her appearance doesn't always shout "nerd", she does have an adorable pair of Unoa glasses:

My Elfdoll Red is a huge bookworm and gamer, too. Actually, I've got a whole bunch of geek/computer nerd types in my collection. But I still think My Elfdoll Wu, Will, wins at geekiest. He is a computer programmer by trade, and spends wayyyy too much time online playing MMORPGs in his spare time. I apologize for the fact he's not finished, his glasses are a bit broken and I don't have any really decent pictures of him yet (forget I've owned him for almost three years - other dolls have taken priority. Next year will be his year, hopefully).


(Yes, he can't do a thing with his hair).

 

Ryuma is Ryuichi's (OC) twin, and unlike his more outgoing, extroverted brother, he is very shy and introverted. Definitely a hikikikomori (hates leaving the house for any reason).

Ryuma is a mangaka (draws manga) and is the creator and executive producer of a very popular anime series based on it. He loves Dungeons and Dragons, Doctor Who, cosplaying, reads manga, watches anime and loves sci-fi and fantasy.

No, he doesn't wear glasses. >:P But he DOES crossdress.

ARISE FROM THE DEAD, ANCIENT THREAD!

There are a lot of different flavors of geekism and nerdistry. My gang seems to have picked up a few...

This fellow (a Volks Kondo) is the resin avatar for one of my tabletop game crew's favorite Exalted NPCs... Sessus Rao, Air-aspected Terrestrial exalt and professor of History and Linguistics at the Heptagram; the Realm's rather notorious school of magic. (Think of it as Hogworts, if Harry Potter was a wusha movie crossed with an Avatar-esque anime series and a Chinese historical drama. Yeah. Exalted is strange.)

Anyway, yeah. Rao is a total nerd-boy adventure-bro.





And then there's Olympia (a Volks Madoka)... a technomancer, a mechanical and electrical engineer and a gamer. She streams and does gaming reviews under the handle CherryB0MB. Her sodales (The other members of her circle of magi-), are pretty much convinced that she isn't speaking the same language that they do, and usually can't mark a line between the "magic" parts of what she does and the "tech" bits, especially where her robotics projects are concerned.



I've also got a couple of librarians and archivists in the crew, a harried Celestial accountant, an elemental scribe and part-time divine historian, a composer (Can't leave out the Band Geeks, right? XD) and the youngest son of one of the White CIty's twelve Kami of Knowledge.

 

You have quite the crew! I love the sound of Exalted- I've wanted to get into tabletop games for years but could never commit the time or find a local group. I see so many great stories come out of it, though the one issue I have is the fear of creating an elaborate backstory etc and then my character dies in their first battle, at least when it comes to D&D- maybe I should look into the different alternatives out there.



Laika is an android college student who studies robotics and programming while performing maintenance on her body in her spare time, when she isn't doing... other things. She's a total nerd as far as it comes to computers and tries to emulate the old-school hacker persona, sans some of the more questionable politics. She does have big ideas to bring down the System, though as her girlfriend Halogen sees it, Laika's more likely to end up working for the government in one of their think tanks or secret surveillance positions- although that might be a way to sabotage from the inside, what they could offer Laika might just tempt her. She's the type who wants power and to be in the know, no matter the cost.

Halogen is an art nerd studying at MoonUn.IT because her parents heard it was a good STEM college career wise, and has a budding interest in sociology and plant genetics- pun not intended. Halogen doesn't take a lot of the work seriously and mostly dabbles in artsy culture on campus (her grades are still decent... when she does the work), but is a rebel at heart and in an alternate universe with a totalitarian regime, she leads the resistance as she knows how to deal with people... just not Laika, who's working for the other side.
The thing about Halogen is that she doesn't really know what she wants to do yet and has a hard time committing to one path, or being an adult in general. She'd rather goof off and "live life" than worry about a future career. She does enough to get by, and would probably be an overachiever if it coordinated with her interests (she has a lot of expertise about underground art movements, for example, and will infodump if you seem genuinely interested and aren't a cop) or if she believed in herself more. She has to get serious though when Laika disappears.

I guess this is more about their story characters than them as dolls, oops- I guess another nerd note is that Laika probably would look good in thick black rectangular glasses (I need to get her some) despite not needing them, and has a specific idea of what "cool" is- for example in another thread I mention that she likes weird things on pizza just to be someone who stands out and is pleasantly surprised when the chosen toppings actually are pretty darn good, and she is definitely ordering that again, forever.
