@AntarelNefertili Thanks! That's sort of what I was thinking. I may have to look at someone else-there is a Ringdoll my friend thought might serve.
I certainly didn't notice. You could always keep him on a nice bust stand? Michael is a cool sculpt, and I did like mine even if I only owned him briefly. The only pair of jointed Granado hands I have are the ones made for the old Nuevo bodies. They're not terrible (looking at you DZ), but they're definitely not the most elegant of posers.
First decent photoshoot of 2022! Guórén's 75Adagio is still in production (and will prolly not be shipped until late February owing to the number of holidays affecting the prod time), but I couldn't resist including him with his partner and two of their brood. Pardon the visible neck donut -- it will have to do until he is Granado-fied from head to toe. Adhara, Guoren, and Two of the Brood by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr @Quiet and Insane A bust stand is def a tempting option, owing to my fondness for the sculpt. Will allow me to keep the head while comfortably retiring a huge resin hunk of body. (I still am not ready to let go of my Michael, obviously lol.)
I just love how beautifully composed all of your photos are @AntarelNefertili! Perfect body matches or not, your skills with a camera are wonderful. Michael is a gorgeous sculpt. I really loved mine for the short while I had him (he has since been reshelled as an Enoch...who will be getting a body soon?? OMG!)
@Quiet and Insane Awwww, thank you! Granted, I subject my images through a lot of post-processing and even some digital painting or two, so a lot of my photos could almost count as mixed-media at this point. Gotta make use of what limited tools you have! On a side note, ohhhhh your Enoch is getting his own body for realz! Is it an actual Granado body, or are you going to hybrid him?
Haha, that still counts as photography to me @AntarelNefertili! I very rarely add more than a filter on Instagram. At this point my phone camera is better than my actual camera. Yeah it's the Embody! He'll be sharing with my Neptune, because if I had more space (and money let's be honest), they'd both end up on the same body anyway in the same resin colour. Which works wonderfully when you're as strapped for space as I am. Heads are far easier to store than whole dolls (I say as I wait for a bunch of whole dolls whoops).
Heeeey everyone! Long time no see! How is everyone? Does anyone remember my Bucky Barnes Uriel? Because I got his wig cut and his outfit all done (the jacket was so hard to make though... I actually did follow the on-screen design)! Here's a quick snapshot! Almost done carving the designs into his arm, too, just need to clean them up, then paint and seal the thing.
@Rosslyn Thank you! Henleys are so hard to make @_@ @Quiet and Insane Thank you! I did not make the hat. I actually got it from Fairy Tale Doll on Etsy. It's actually lined on the inside! The shirt, Henley, hoodie, and jacket I did make. I plan on updating my project journal soon.
Omg, I love him ♡ If Granado ever brings back his sculpt once more, I'd love to attempt my own version of him! (already have a Bucky in Nendoroid Doll form xD). Please share more pictures if him if you have some free time on your hands ^-^
GUys guys, My Newton head is shipping soon! Ive never actually seen another Newton but he's just right for the original character I have.
It's s hard to find good hats for dolls sometimes, I'll have to have a look! His whole outfit looks amazing!
@Silver_Unicorn297 I saw your pic on FB! Really awesome job; it's obvious you are going all-out in getting the details just right. @Rosslyn Congratulations! When did you place your order, by the way? Yep, there aren't many Newtons around, so it would be interesting to see more owner photos of him!
Just wanted to share a photo of my Raguel on here He recently got the 3rd gen jointed hands, although they’re a little lighter compared to his original resin tone (Aug 2020). Planning to blush em and give him black nails anyway
Ahhhhh he's so handsome @Dead! Gosh I love the look of those hands. I can't wait to get my (human) hands on a pair when my Embody arrives.
Thank you my friend Thank you! Oohhh you will love their jointed hands Granado even wires them for you which is an added bonus and I absolutely love that!
His hands look really graceful, @Dead! I'm still at two minds about ordering Granado jointed hands for my boy because they're a touch too slender for my taste (and lack an opposable thumb joint), but I def won't say no to trying them out, given the chance. Still no 75Adagio shipping notice, but that's expected since Chinese New Year is right smack in the middle of the production period. Slooooowly getting my unfinished Noah to be less camera-shy. His headsculpt is actually way larger than hers (a modded Fantasia Doll Vivian 2017 ver, 19.5cm circumference), but manipulating the camera angle evened out the difference. Keeping the Flame Alive by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
They wire them for you?? Ohhhhh now Iwan will definitely want his v1 jointed hands wired when he sees these new ones. Not that there's anything wrong with them, they're just a little snappier than I'd like them to be after...6-7 years or so. I'm going to have to compare the two versions once they arrive.
@Quiet and Insane Yes the come wired you don't have to ask for it. I love them on my guitar player he can do some really nice hand positions on his guitar.
Excellent given that Enoch #2 (Jin'Yuu) is also a guitar player! Although I can feel Iwan death glaring me.
I'd be nervous getting on Iwan's sh*t list, maybe it's time to make some promises you don't intend to keep (right away, that is)?
Well as long as he can wait to vivisect me after I've compared the v1 and v3 hands then we're all good.
Hoo boy, now I am really tempted to get the new jointed hands too since my Noah/Michael's character plays the erhu. While his current Impldoll jointed hands are capable of surprisingly dainty poses, they're simultaneously snappy and loose (if that was even possible), and so far all my efforts at restringing them have ended in frustration.
One picture Rich 020821 c by SteamWitch, on Flickr The resin doesn't match perfectly to his old (not Granado) body but I love the way they pose. I didn't try hard to get a chord placed
AHHHH my Newton head is here! other than needing to make his eyes a little larger, which I knew about, he's exactly what I hoped for! AND his resin is a pretty darn good match. He's in white resin, and the body is a Volks SDGr in their white- it might have a liiiiitle aging, but overall the match is great and the proportions look great in real life.
Thank you so much! I'm all about details ^.^ I really admire all of the intricate work you put into your crew as well!
Thanks you guys! I am very excited! BUt the wig I got him is wayyy too big, his head is about 20cm. ANd this character has such a specific hair and clothing style I will have to make his wig myself, I think. Time to go find some silver suri alpaca...
@Rosslyn Congratulations! Oh boy, he has the same head circumference as my Michael, who has given me my own share of wig-finding problems. Unless you can find the exact style in 7-8in, making your own is the way to go!
Trying to find out a bit more about the Jane head, but I don't see a neck or head circumference on the Granado site. Before I start casting around with a wtb I wanted to make sure it will even fit in with my crew and I can usually tell that from those two measurements, if anyone knows that easily... Body said the neck is 9.5cm, so if anyone knows head circumference I'd be obliged.
All I have is the little 29cm version. Sorry. Did you try just asking Granado through your account page messaging popup? They're really good about responding.
How is everyone? I have yet to take photos because I have real-life work to take care of, but my Noah's 75Adagio finally arrived! There are some limitations to his posing that I'd have to get used to (compared to my Impldoll Idolman that has thigh swivels similar to the newer Granado tinies, that is), but I'm still over-all happy with my purchase. In fact, so far he's my only major doll purchase for the past two years that won't require any immediate "surgeries". All my other new arrivals had had to be taken to the dollie hospital due to problems in manufacturing and/or shipping. Kudos to Crocus Lee and the Granado team!
Ooh congratulations! I've been quite good. Trying not to be too impatient about my Granado order, but also absolutely dying to take photos of the guy the body's for. He's had a face up, eyes, and and wig for years so he's good to go right away. Although, the original outfit I purchased at the same time has since been split up and other doll have laid claim to it. I should at the very least try and get him a pair of pants. Otherwise he'll be stuck in a yukata for a little while. (I personally wouldn't mind him hanging around in the nude, but I live with my grandmother so uh, gotta keep the boys decent )
Thanks lots, @Quiet and Insane -- I was also reaching the end of my waiting limit because I paid in layaway, and only finished it December (basically, I waited for six months from layaway start to end of production). I was even having dreams of receiving the wrong item, which pretty much shows how anxious I got. And oh boy, I know how it's like to have to keep the boys decent. While my spouse doesn't mind lounging naked dollies, the repair man might not. Anyhoo, I managed to snap a quick shot of Noah. I didn't show the true color image because his current faceup is of a waaaay different hue than the rest of him (the base resin colors are identical, though). While there are certain joints I would miss (yoo-hoo, thigh swivels please), the 75Adagio has really grown on me! Granado even sent the body with silicone kips on the shoulders, neck, and hips, which help a lot with holding poses. Just take care not to let the joints "suck in" the kips, of course. Adagio Noir by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr On a side note, I had a funny mini-mishap with changing his "special parts". FYI, they are attached via an elastic that loops from the head to the groin. I accidentally let go of the elastic at one point, meaning I had to partially unstring him to pull back the "special parts" elastic to where it should be.
@AntarelNefertili - Nice to see Granado are still sending out bodies with kips too! Iwan's body came with kips and (still being new to the hobby) I was over the moon happy for this surprise. The great irony is that one of the kips being sucked into his left elbow meant he was always curling his arm in on itself, and I didn't realise that was the cause until I took him apart a year later to blush him. I ended up working it into his story, hence all the scarring he's got on his arm. Oh nooooo, I just got the mental image of a tiny sausage being flung across the floor when the elastic is released. I'm glad none of my two strung boys have catapulted a sausage yet.
@Quiet and Insane That's just the annoying thing about kips, right? If they get stuck inside joints, you may have to resort to unstringing to retrieve the disc. Noah is actually my first big doll that is sueded in any other joint aside from the neck (haven't pulled together enough willpower to do the task on the others), so I initially didn't realize that his resistance to changing poses was due to the kips. Wahaha, that had to be a really tightly strung pickle for it to be launched off bazooka-style. On the other hand, using elastics meant that it is more securely latched on than the corresponding pieces of my LoongSoul guy, whose "special parts" magnet has already required regluing on several occasions.
@AntarelNefertili - Yeah it's definitely tedious to have to unstring a doll to dig the kips out from the limb channels. I've got a couple of dolls that have had kips added here and there in various joints, but only Iwan is fully sueded. He's the problem child apparently. Ohh yes true! I've heard horror stories of magnetised pieces falling down trousers legs at meets and so forth. Glad I've not had to deal with that honestly, my boys end up pant-less at meets most of the time anyway (my local community is...look we're an odd bunch to put it nicely. )
@Eriawendollyn Kips are little circular silicon disks that you put between joints to add friction so that the joint will hopefully pose better. Here's a link to some. Home :: Dollfie® Supplies :: Care Items :: View All Care Items :: KIPS Joint Set
Finally, a color photo that somewhat gives justice to my Noah. It's saying something if you look good even if your headsculpt's heavy blushing caused a color mismatch. (Local faceup artists are still fully booked, hence he hasn't been revamped yet.) Mismatched Glamour 01 by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
He's still super handsome, even with the resin mismatch. Meanwhile I'm still (im)patiently waiting for my Embody to be shipped. First Lunar New Year, now more covid shenanigans (although I do genuinely hope the Granado crew are staying safe).
and it's not just doll stuff, I just got yet another shipping delay notification email for the stand mixer I ordered back in February (this time with a "mid May" delivery estimate...) Doll delays I more or less expect, but kitchen appliances? Somehow totally didn't even cross my mind
Not much we can do about it I suppose. I did spontaneously buy an in-stock off topic doll, turning the remnants of my budget for the year into dust, just I so could have something fun to play with in the meantime (cue protests from the rest of my crew )
I actually have an outstanding order from Granado (jointed hands for my guy, because those fused fingers aren't the best if you want your doll to wear rings or certain types of gauntlets), but I don't mind waiting if it ensures their staff's safety. Crocus' team did react to one of my IG posts, so it is comforting to know that they're still on the radar somehow.
I wonder how many people work at Granado? Crocus obviously, and I know his wife (or was it mum?) sewed one of the limited edition outfits and makes some of the eyes they have available from time to time.
Oooh have y'all seen the new VIPO head Crocus is working on? I am utterly in love with his smirk! Login • Instagram
I don't need any new heads or dolls as I am horrifically over-budget for this year. But oh my goodness. I love him so much! I haven't fallen in love with a sculpt quite like this in a very long time.
Same but I don't have a nominee for a smirky, gorgeous guy head swap. Which is the only way I can even consider getting him.
Aiya, looks like I haven't been getting alerts. The new VIPO head reminded me of Uriel somehow. I adore the smirky lips though! (That's what I really miss now that my Michael has been put in a box.) Was quite apprehensive that tall 75cm Noah would no longer be to-scale with my primary petite-head girl (even though she's around 64 on flat feet). Thankfully, seems like I wouldn't have to worry. Sure, she had to don heels and his torso had to stoop a bit to meet the height difference midway. But she looks so happy to be with his reshell, it was worth the trouble. Balcony Anew 01 by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Oh yeah, I can see a little Uriel in that face. He's so lovely, I'm a little obsessed. I've been going back to the IG posts and just staring at them...still have no idea who he'll be in my group, but I am most definitely getting him. My only issue is resin colour. Hmm. I'm leaning towards tan because it's my favourite of their resins, but logic says normal or white would be easier to colour match as a base. That's such a sweet photo @AntarelNefertili They both look so cosy!
So, getting back into the hobby after years away. I can't find this boys sculpt name anywhere in his box and I don't remember it. Can anyone help me out?
