Reason for choice:

Uh, I wasn't originally interested him, lol. Illusion Garden preorders tend to be fierce clickwars: I joined in as a lark and didn't expect to end up buying a doll head. But of Illusion Garden's lineup I fancy Johan the most, and I was keen to try out an against-the-grain doll concept for him.
I wanted to put him on a 65cm male body, and SD17 was the one that fit the most of my desirable criteria.

Best Points:

Johan is very good-looking, though I find this kind of beauty a bit too idealized.
SD17 is pleasingly heavy, the weight is well-distributed and he doesn't feel unwieldy at all. Great 3-part torso range and movement. The double-jointed engineering may be "last generation", but it's versatile where it matters and I can work with this.

Worst Points:

Elbows are a bit limited in range. Ankles have zero flexibility and are designed more for stability. I have to fiddle with his torso to get him to sit upright.

14/6mm purple-red by Cumulus (eyemaker on Xianyu)

Wig:

MSireDoll, peacock green in 1/3 size

Maintenance: Default elastic (~4.5mm diameter). Kips in shoulders, elbows, neck. Legs wired with 14gauge coated aluminium. H Mao's eye cradles used for eyes.

Glasán Ó Síocháin "Finch", angel of peace.

Sanguine, magnanimous, larrikin.
His bird aspect is a greenfinch, and his season is late winter.

He's Finch: no one calls him by his formal name. Like Zhara and Vallant, he is a soldier. Unlike them, he hasn't been damaged by the war in heaven. We think he was sent to this sanctuary to prevent that -- or worse -- from happening.
A bearish, brash, warm presence. He's constantly whistling, making up rhymes and doggerel, and playing on his harmonica.

Of the three white malakhim in the sanctuary, the greenfinch is the only one who's intact and at full strength. The firebird is terminally destabilized, but now that her comrade-in-arms has been retrieved from the war in heaven, she'll be secure as long as they aren't separated. Ideally they would synergize formation with the griffin, but his disfigurement has become permanent and that way is now shut. Their troupe is sundered: alas, a grievous loss! The only life left to them is each other. They must stay bright and warm. We'll help! Let's play!

Gael told me that Finch is an angel of peace. He also said he's very loud, not at all calm, changes his mind all the time, doesn't stick to plans. Heh. Gael doesn't like unexpected things. But when Finch goes back to the battlefront, he'll miss him a lot. I'm glad Gael has a friend amongst the malakhim. They play music together all the time. That's done him so much good. I would like to hear that music. I do feel the peace. Things don't seem to wearisome afterwards. Finch does us all good.


Zhara says,
"He's here. He's alive! We gotta stick together. Aaaahhhh, too much has changed... He'd better stay as he is and not change!"
