Reason for choice:

I wanted a Bimong doll. Of the Narin heads available to order, Grey was the only one that compelled me. I like hatchet-faced males, and he has a hatchet face.

Best Points:

I adore his blunt profile and Asian-coded features - I can look at him for ages without getting bored. He has the most beautiful hands and feet I've ever seen on a BJD. Bimong's reputation as a sculptor and engineer is well-founded: the Narin68 body poses splendidly and is a sheer joy to handle.

Worst Points:

The way the torso joints are cut means that he can't rotate around the torso - my only, but major, disappointment with his posing. I discovered through this doll that I dislike the faceplate/headback system.

Hayk Seraph Severian, sentinel at the gate.

Stoic, affable, observant ... but very suppressed by chronic illness.
His bird aspect is a raven, and his season is full spring.

We gather that Oshidori and Hayk were meant to come to the sanctuary together, but something went wrong - she was injured and he went missing. Now he has arrived unexpectedly, and very changed. This seraph of death still retains his resurrecting touch, but who knows if the rest of him will recover.


Gael says,
I first met Hayk in the upper floors of the house. He'd gotten lost up there, in the galleries where everything is bigger than it seems, then gotten dizzy, and had to lie down and close his eyes. I know now that containment lies heavily on him. It does on all three of us, but he feels it more. I already thought losing my voice was terrible, but I can bear it, now. Some days are dull and heavy, but not always. There is a keen sweetness to this enfleshing, this existence, and I can't hate it anymore. Hayk would say the same thing, though more of him is bound up. I couldn't hate him either, for being the reason why I had to come here.
He looked so peaceful, that day. He doesn't look so worn out when he's asleep. I stayed until he recovered, then helped him get back downstairs. That's how I got to know him.


Syr says,
"Oshidori and Hayk are siblings - that means they come from the same thought of God. Yep, they're quite similar. Sometimes it's hard to tell, because Hayk isn't always lucid. Like when I thought, at first, that he liked being indoors, since he comes to play go with me so much. But I think he just wants company when he's not well enough to go out, like how Oshidori hangs around us so much. Speaking of going outside, Justinian tells me that both of them are always keen. Oshidori actually asks the boys if they'll let her join, while Hayk doesn't ... actually, I've seen that look he gives to Gael on his good days, and Gael then suggests going out for a walk. You watch the siblings long enough and you can see how alike they are. It's so interesting! Hehe, don't worry, I'm discreet about watching.
"...Mmm, you can also see that there's this rift between them, some grief. It must've happened before they came here. It's kind of sad. I wish I could do something, but I don't really get it; if only it was easier to talk to Hayk."


Vallant says,
